Useful for Contact Info.......2003-03-09

I bought this book simply for the list of potential employers it contains and found it to be a great resource for browsing employers in different categories. It contains web addresses, street addresses, short descriptions of what the company does, and all the companies are divided into different categories such as "Accounting and Management Consulting" or "Real Estate".

The only part that I found to be a joke is at the very beginning, concerning how to conduct a job search. The instructions are so general that they are useless and the cover letter and resume examples are only mildly useful. More importantly, information like that is already readily available in better and more detailed format on the internet, so they could really have just saved some paper and left this part out.

The bottom line is that this book is a crucial reference guide for companies you could be applying to that you didn't even know existed until you got this book. Since it narrows things down to one metropolitan area instead of a region or the nation as a whole, it allows the author to list even more employers for this specific city and with even more detail.

A must have if you are doing a focused job search!

Disappointed.......2007-05-12

I had purchased the First Adams resume book and it was a great help. I purchased the set and it was redundant. Both books had the same examples and I don't feel it offered as much as the first edition. It's good to have, but you could get the equivalent or better searching online for resume samples. If you do purchase it try to find it as cheap as possible.

Good compilation of resumes.......2000-04-03

The Adams Resume Almanac is a pretty decent compilation of resumes and cover letters. But it is only a compilation. This book, as the cover states, has over 600 resumes and 50 cover letters. If you already know how to write a resume and cover letter and you are just looking for ideas or situations that may apply to your current situation, you may be able to get ideas from the work of others. However, there is no exhaustive review of resume writing strategies as mentioned in the synopsis. Approximately 5 pages of this book are spent on writing your resume. The remainder of the book contains numerous examples of other peoples resumes. I do like this book. However, I would not recommend it as your sole book on resumes and cover letters. It is mainly a good companion book.

High Impact Resumes and Letters, by Ronald L. Krannich and Winning Cover Letters, by Robin Ryan, are two books that I would highly recommend. The former is an in depth book on the entire job search process. And the latter is an excellent book concentrating on various letters, cover letters in general. These two books, in conjunction with The Adams Resume Almanac, will definitely assist you in writing a powerful resume and cover letter that will be noticed by employers.

It's an Okay Source.......2006-11-11

I actually ordered Volume 1 & 2. Unfortunately, you find pretty much the same material (resume examples) in both editions so purchase only edition 1 or 2. The resume styles are decent, but I recently learned it has changed and I couldn't find an example of that style in either (new style sent to me by an HR professional in field 33 years.) Some of the most common resume tips for older workers is also not mentioned and extremely important. I would recommend it, but not to any Executive Level Management person.

A Great Reference Guide for Job Seekers.......2000-03-01

This has just got to be one of the best cover letter reference guides I have come across. This book features 600 cover letters, all classified under different sections like 'Response to Classified Advertisement', 'Response to Blind Advertisement', 'Letter to Employment Agency' just to name a few. The best thing about this book is that under the different sections, letters are then classified under different kind of jobs (i.e Analyst, Business Consultant, Hotel Manager etc etc), making this a really comprehensive guide that gives you samples of things to write to your prospective employers in the different industries. Not only that, the book also provides ideas on how to personalize your letters, what kind of style should you write in as well as the really useful 'Twenty Cover Letter Blunders to Avoid'. I myself styled my cover letters using a few of the samples across industries, by selecting the phrases that best suit my needs to create my own personalized cover letter; and the frequency of my letters getting a reply has indeed increased. Special thanks to Adams Media for publishing this book, because I have since found a job using it! For all of you job seekers out there, why not give this book a try. This book also comes with a diskette that allows you to create a cover letter in a jiffy, but I found that it could look quite impersonal and the wordings in the paragraphs may not be suit your needs entirely. One thing to note here is that much of the content is used in the American context, but if you overlook this, it's quite a good guide.

This book wasn't what I expected. A lot of the info was outdated, many companies aren't listed and I didn't think it was organized very effectively.

This might work if you needed a business directory, not sure how it helps you find a job.

Not worth your money........2002-10-01

Having purchased the Chicago Jobbank a few years ago, I was excited to see there was a Florida Jobbank. However, it was a huge let-down. There are only a small amount of employers listed in this book. I'm not sure where they compile there listing, but this was a very poor smattering of companies in the entire state of Florida. They aren't even consistent as to which companies are listed. There are some hospitals and some department stores and some small companies and some large corporations. No rhyme or reason as to the collection. You'd get a more comprehensive list of companies going to Chamber of Commerce websites. The book is very disappointing.

Book Was Just Okay.......2007-09-22

The book wasn't all I thought it should be. I was looking for more information to be provided on jobs in the triangle area of North Carolina. I'm glad I bought a used copy of this book for about $3.00 because had I bought a new book it would have been returned.

I think you find more informtion online than you could in this book.

Great story.......2005-06-05

This story has Catwoman and Batman teaming up to find Mr. Handsome, a gangster who purchases beautiful things only to destroy them. Catwoman serves as bait to capture him, but she ends up actually being kidnapped.

This is a great story for all Batman and Catwoman fans, especially Catwoman since she is the star of this graphic novel. It is full of twists that you will never see coming and has a very fitting ending for those who love the relationship between Batman and Catwoman.
