Book Description
Phyllis Wright-Herman and Tim Mikkelsen started what would become MikWright Ltd. one night in 1992 when they were perusing an album of old family photographs. The pair began to write funny "captions" for the photos, and by the end of the evening they had planted the seeds for a business. Mikkelsen had copies of the photos made, pasted them onto blank cards, and typed the captions inside. Six years later, the cards are carried in all fifty states, Canada, and Australia. happy birthday . . . blah, blah, blah and hey, girl! are collections of the best of these goofy family photos and hilarious captions from MikWright Ltd.'s greeting card line.

My acupuncturist gave this to me!
And, as any good southern woman knows, the higher the hair, the closer to god!
Love you hair. Hope you win!.......2000-05-28
I received this book as a gift from my best friend, Deb. This is one of the funniest books ever! I personally think black and white photos have soooo much more character.
Hysterical!.......2000-04-29
I'm thrilled to see all of these hilarious cards collectively! I found them a couple years ago at off the wall card stores and wished I had purchased every one of them. There's one for everyone- a guaranteed laugh. I love sarcastic humor, so I found this to be perfect. This book is a great gift for any/all occasions! Check it out!

My mom's book is still relevant today.......2000-08-31
My mom wrote this autobiographical account when she was just a sophomore at Kalamazoo College in Michigan. It chronicles her life changing senior year at Marshall High School on the west side of Chicago in the racially charged 1960s. After her father decided to join the Ecumenical Institute and be transferred from affluent New Trier High School in Winnekta, on Chicago's North Shore, my already open-minded mother was exposed more directly to issues surrounding race and culture when she became Marshall's only white student. One result of this turbulent period in American history and this single year of her life was "Hey, White Girl!," an insightful book that will enlighten those of any age and race to the difficulties and amazing rewards of being young and learning from people different from yourself.

It's super-amazing, it's funk-da-crazing, it's boss. It's hipster chick authors Super Clea and Keva Marie's handbook for the "ridiculously cool-cool girl"--365 days' worth of silly and serious tips and things to make, do, and ponder, illustrated with scrapbook-style doodles, bad copies of snapshots, and many, many entertaining asides. Clea and Keva discuss and analyze everything, from the merits of sugar vs. fake sugar to badminton, from socks to stocks, from the Spice Girls to camouflage cowboy hats. They encourage readers to write their own zines, make doggy donuts, and celebrate England's bank holidays by renting Bonnie and Clyde. Basically, these girls just wanna, just wanna have fun (see October 1, "Today you shall attempt to talk in song lyrics, all day"). And any reader lucky enough to get her hands on this "road map to living a badass life... directory of all things crafty... inspiring diary thing that stokes you out... punk rock Girl Scout guide" will most definitely have fun. This is a daybook for reading, not a journal for writing in, although it will probably inspire anyone with an ounce of imagination to write her own daybook. (Ages 9 and older) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
Welcome to the coolest daybook ever! Inside this handy book you'll find everything you need to know to lead a ridiculously cool -- cool life. Super Clea and Keva Marie share tips (365 to be exact) on everything from starting a book club to making fortune cookies. Hey, Day! provides you with the answers when you are feeling bored, in love, hungry, antsy, or crafty.
Customer Reviews:
headache inducing...........2006-08-07
as I'm on a crafty kick, I ordered this book on a discount book site cause it looked fun, quirky and frankly, was cheap as chips...
Sadly, thank goodness I got this book cheap. It's horrible.
My biggest complaint-the text and photos are done in a scrapbook or journal way that was supposed to be cool but actually made the book literally impossible for me to look at without getting a headache!
Text was so crammed, swirled and overlayed on photos that it was impossible to read. Very annoying to pay good money for something you can't read! Artsy is one thing-illegibility is another:(
I may have even tried to trudge through it if not for the total misrepresentation of this book. It's touted as a craft book-but less than a fourth is crafts and those are like "be crafty and wear a scarf today"
Final word on this book-totally skipworthy-not worth the $3.50 shipping charge if you get it for a penny! Wish I could give it no stars.
you can still get this book!.......2005-06-04
Yep, we got dropped, out of print, vaminos charlie. but hey you can still get it used here. Or check out heydaygirls.com and buy it there di-rect. you can also download HOLIDAZED - another ridiculous clea and keva creation, for free! Ch-ch-check it. xo Clea!
An Awesome Book!.......2005-06-03
This book is so cool because it's written by two best friends. So some of the things in there are things that best friends will love, mostly things that they've done and loved and they think we will do and love them, too. It's also cool because it has stuff to do every single day of the year (well, not leap years). You can never get bored with it! And the coolest part is, the author has her own online advice column just for girls! Go to www.girlsense.com and then click on ADVICE and click on Super Clea's Corner.
Not So Great.......2002-11-11
I purchased this book after reading tons of great reviews. The book has some good ideas, but it was not what I expected at all. I think there are tons of other books out there that are worth spending your money on.
Fun but often time it is tacky.......2002-10-09
I love craft books. Even though I am in my 20s I often flock to teen friendly craft books. i find them so much better than adult books. Plus I feel age is just a number. I like to have fun!I saw a review of this book in YM and thought it looked cool. So a week later I picked it up. I read from front page to back. The books high points are the crafts and DIY advice. I even like that the mention veganisim (I am vegan) andhow to create a zine. The instructions are clear nough to follow and will inspire you. What I did not like about the book was the authors chit-chat. Their conversations are really tacky. Do you really think they talk like that? I hope not. I think the book would have been better without their chats and thought on each other.

Former MTV VJ Kennedy has never been one to shy away from stating her opinions, and she packs a passel of her funny, funky philosophy into Hey Ladies: Tales and Tips for Curious Girls. As a self-proclaimed teenage dork and late bloomer, Kennedy positions herself as someone who's "been there." She offers advice to teen women in the trenches on matters both trivial and traumatic. From dancing to dating, smoking to smooching, pimples to prom, beer to breast size, the author shares her personal experiences--both nightmarish and noble--in the hope that young readers will feel less alone.
Kennedy's counsel goes beyond treating traditional adolescent agonies. She also recommends wearing sensible footwear (blaming her "shoeful of piggies that resemble a radiation accident" on pointy shoes); emphasizes the benefits of learning new languages ("the best Filet-O-Fish I've ever had was in Japan"); and advocates listening to and learning from our grandmothers (who "know how to dress, know how to be polite, and can act like senile fools just so they can blurt out what they really think of someone").
Not all of Kennedy's advice is kindhearted. There's a decidedly bitter Revenge of the Nerds slant to some of her wisdom, such as her philosophy on "popular girls," about whom she claims, "I have seen just about every cute prima ballerina, party girl, rich chick (whatever you call these mutants) plummet into obscurity and yuckiness in as short as eight weeks upon graduation from high school." She adds, embracing the intolerance she abhorred in her teen years, "A young woman who is snotty, full-figured, flirtatious, bitchy, clear-skinned, and rich is as good as the algae on pond rocks the second she leaves for higher education." But this sassy, cynical tone is exactly what has won her so many fans, so you can bet Hey Ladies will earn her many more. (Ages 12 and older) --Brangien Davis
Book Description
How do French women maintain such clear complexions? What do you do if you're stuck at a party and you don't know anyone? And do perky, perfect cheerleaders really go on to have happier lives than the rest of us? (The answer will surprise you.)
Read on to unravel these and other mysteries of life (and to have a few laughs, too!).
Hey Ladies! Tales and Tips for Curious Girls is former MTV star Kennedy's open letter to the teenagers of the world. Having been through any number of major adolescent catastrophes herself, she hopes to save the ladies some of the legwork by passing on the lessons she learned along the way. Using anecdotes from her own life, including the story of her momentous first kiss, she shares her hard-won wisdom on things like how to get along with your mom, feel good about your body, have a successful first date, and avoid embarrassment in the school locker room. As Kennedy says, "Sometimes it takes a manual from a former dork to make the load a little lighter and explain the mysterious worlds of boys, substance abuse, and parental communication."
Funny, insightful, and always genuine,
Hey Ladies! is essential reading for anyone hoping to survive life as a teenage girl.

Book Description
A new and unique interactive journal full of questions, ideas, and thoughts to contemplate. A journal is for recording secrets, dreams, and disappointments, and for marking a time in your life and what is important to you at that moment, for capturing who you are -- and who you want to become. In
Hey Girl! A Journal of My Life, you are the hero of the story -- your life story so far!
The journal is divided into 11 sections:
Important Things to Know About Me
Here's Looking at You, Kid
Me and My Family
Emotionally Speaking
My Family Roots
How Do I Rate?
Where I Live
Me and Other People
Me and My Friends
My Future
My Favorites
You are invited to write, draw or paste photos to capture thoughts, reflect on feelings, or simply record events. There is no right or wrong way to use this journal and sections can be completed in any order. The "take a moment to dream" segments allow you to imagine what your life would be like if certain things were different.
Ask others to help fill in the gaps of your early life story and family history. Favorite movies, books, clothes, and hairstyles are recorded for all time. Don't just list your friends and family but consider your relationships with them. Have they ever hurt your feelings? Have you hurt theirs? Admit what is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you, or the funniest. Fill out a school report card -- it is your turn to give out the grades.
Examine your innermost feelings and decide difficult questions like: What would you like to change about yourself? What are your fears? What bugs you? And don't forget, what was your best experience ever? How about your proudest moment? What kind of person are you? Be honest. Are you a risk taker? A rebel? A leader? What qualities do you admire in yourself and others? Take the personality test to help you better understand the type of person you are.
Lively yet penetrating subjects encourage each journal writer to get to know herself in a way she may never have done before. Girls are invited to be creative, think deeply, and express their most private thoughts. With an emphasis on self-examination and reflection,
Hey Girl! is a journal that every young girl will treasure -- now and for years to come!

Book Description
A touching compilation of true tales of love vs. hate, sad stories of right vs. wrong that not only intrigue the reader, but also give insight to the dynamics of the author's life as well as the genetics of her family. Her unique perceptions into the dynamics of neural pathways are mentioned as well as captivating significances in old adages and knowing that an old dog can be taught new tricks. This book is aimed at redefining the parameters of disabilities so as to illustrate that all persons are in fact created equal under God. The aim of the book is to illustrate that chromosomes should not be utilized as a formative factor in someone's mentality and just because someone doesn't look or act "normal" does not make them any less of a person. Disabilities are turned into abilities and the reader is prompted to find an alternative way of viewing reality and reading everyday signs. Readers are impelled to observe how they see the reflection of their own selves in others, especially their own children. Using a play on words as well as biblical reference and personal narration, languages are decoded and brought together in hopes of shedding light on the damaging effects that we as "gods" (posing as parents, siblings, medical professionals, and friends) have on others as a human race. Suess hopes that the readers will reconsider their words and their actions and the lasting impact that they have on others and make a positive, constructive change for the better.
Customer Reviews:
Intriguing book about her life experiences..........2006-01-22
When I first obtained the book, I thought it was going to be a book about a lot of research that I was not going to understand. Any scientific information that was included was in very easy to understnad terms. Initially, because I thought it was a book on genetic research only, I expected to be bored. Instead, I was very into reading the book. It was easy to comprehend and relates to some of the common life experiences that are shared with others. The book illustrates that sometimes at a joyous time in your life, others can pull you down and leave you stranded. It is saddening to know that sometimes there is no support out there when you most need it and those who are supposed to be a system of support to you (such as family, friends, attorneys, medical professionals, government officials, etc...) abandon you in your greatest time of need. Sometimes you never know how you will react until you have walked in that other person's shoes. At the end of the book, I cried. I thought it was well written and illustrated that we are all individual but basically we are all human. I highly recommend this book for everyone.
I am the author of this book........2006-01-11
I recommend this book for all of humanity. The intelligence of disabilities needs to be recognized and appreciated. Without the genuine acceptance of all DNA, we as humans will become a dying race.
