    Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

5 out of 5 stars Has history been tampered with?.......2007-10-23

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RAZQNMXM4M9CL Has history been tampered with? Yes, it has! Did events and eras such as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Roman Empire , the Dark Ages, and the Renaissance, actually occur within a very different chronology from what we've been told? Yes, they certainly did!

The history of humankind is both drastically shorter and dramatically different than generally presumed.

Why is it so? On one hand, it was usual custom to justify the claims to title and land by age and ancestry, and on the other the court historians knew only too well how to please their masters. The so called universal classic world history is a pack of intricate lies for all events prior to the 16th century. World history as we learn it today was entirely fabricated in the 16th-18th centuries. It's likely that nobody told you before, but

there is not a single piece of firm written evidence or artefact that is reliably and independently dated prior to the 11th century.

Naturally, after what you've learned in school and university, you will not easily believe that the classical history of ancient Rome, Greece, Asia, Egypt, China, Japan, India, etc., is manifestly false.

You will point accusing finger to the pyramids in Egypt, to the Coliseum in Rome and Great Wall of China etc., and claim, aren't they really ancient, thousands of years ancient? Well, there is no valid scientific proof that they are older than 1000 years!

The oldest original written document that can be reliably dated belongs to the 11th century!

New research asserts that Homo sapiens invented writing (including hieroglyphics) only 1000 years ago. Once invented, writing skills were immediately and irreversibly put to the use of ruling powers and science.

The consensual chronology we live with was essentially crafted in the 16th century by the Jesuits.

The world history was compiled from contradictory mix of innumerable copies of ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts and other irrefutable proofs delivered by late mediaeval astronomers that were cemented by the authority of writings of the Church Fathers.

Early in life, we learn about ancient history. Children love the magical lessons of history - they are like fairy tales. Teachers recite breathtaking stories; very soon We learn by heart the names and deeds of brave warriors, wise philosophers, fabulous pharaohs, cunning high priests and greedy scribes.

We learn of gigantic pyramids and sinister castles, kings and queens, dukes and barons, powerful heroes and beautiful ladies, emaciated saints and low-life traitors.

Ancient history is based documents, manuscripts, printed books, paintings, monuments and artefacts - called primary sources.

The problem is that neither these ancient documents, nor events described therein can be irrefutably dated, moreover they contradict each other for the most part.

When a school textbook tells us that Genghis Khan in year X or Alexander in year Y, have each conquered half of the world, it means only that it is so said in some of the written sources.

There are no answers to simple questions:

When were these primary sources written?

Where and by whom were these sources found?

It is wrongly presumed that ancient and medieval chronicles, written by Genghis Khan's or Alexander the Great contemporaries and eyewitnesses, are readily available. Actually, only sources written hundreds or even thousands of years after the events are there, compiled mostly in the 16th 18th centuries, or even later.

As a rule, these sources suffered considerable multiple manipulations, falsifications and distortions by editing. At the same time,

innumerable originals of ancient documents under various pretexts were destroyed in Europe under various pretexts.

The names of persons and geographical sites often changed meaning and location during the course of the centuries.

Geographical locations became clearly defined on maps only with the advent of printing.

This made possible the circulation of identical copies of the same map for purposes of the military, navigation, education and governance tasks.

Historians from Oxford say: "hey, everybody knows that Julius Caesar lived in the first century B.C.

`Julius Caesar' statement is only a point of view as

there is simply no irrefutable documentary proof that Julius Caesar or any other great name of antiquity ever existed.

Better than that - extremely rare sources that can be reliably dated back to the 10th-14th centuries A D, do not show the polished picture of classical history.

They show a picture both contradictory and confusing.

All methods of dating of ancient sources and artefacts are erroneous:

Radio-carbon C14 method produces dating with exactitude of plus minus 1500 years, therefore it is too crude for dating of events in historical timeframe!

The Almagest tractate, which lies as corner stone contemporary chronology, compiled in the 2nd century A D by Ptolemy, the founding father of astronomy, contains astronomical data of 9th to 16th century!

The Bronze Age,that has supposedly began 5000 years ago. Bronze is made of 90% copper and 10% tin, but the technology for tin extraction dates back to 14th century A D!.

All eclipses contained in manuscripts, like Thucydides one, relating 'ancient' events have exclusively medieval dating. All horoscopes cut in stone or painted in Egyptian temples, like Dendera have exclusively early medieval dating solutions.

Not quite what you have learned in school? Open your eyes, and, you will find sufficient proof to reach step by step the inevitable conclusion that the classical chronology is false and therefore, that the history of ancient and medieval world universally accepted today, is also false. Have a fresh outlook on everything said or printed about "ancient" and "enigmatic" Roman, Greek and Egyptian, medieval as well as all other "lost and found" civilizations.

Antiquity and Dark Ages are phantoms invented in the 16th 18th and polished in 19th 20thcenturies. Human civilization is in fact barely 1000 years old!

This book will change your perception of History forever!
What if Ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt were invented during Renaissance?
What if The Old Testament was a rendition of events of the Middle Ages?
What if Jesus Christ was born in 1053 and crucified in 1086 AD?
    Sounds Unbelievable?
Not after you've read "History: Fiction or Science?" by Anatoly Fomenko, the genius mathematician.
Armed with astronomy and computers Anatoly Fomenko turns History into a rocket science.

3 out of 5 stars Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

      Book Description

The banking world is changing rapidly. The strategic priority has shifted away from growth and size alone towards a greater emphasis on profitability, performance and `value creation within the banking firm. Bank professionals now require a thorough grounding in the micro foundations of banking if they are to make important managerial decisions, or implement banking policies. Containing up-to-date case studies, this book is concerned with the theory and practice of banking now, and the prospects for the future. Unlike many other books in this area, this text is devoted to the micro issues of banking, including competition, structure, performance, risks and regulation. "…rigorous, topical and it provides a good insight into some of the major empirical and policy research fields of modern banking … an important and stimulating contribution to the micro banking literature. It should be required reading for banking students, researchers, banking professionals, and all who are interested in modern banks and banking." Edward Gardener, Institute of European Finance, University of Wales, Bangor, UK "… it takes an international approach to the subject of banking and combines that perspective with the more conventional aspects of the subject treated in a modern textbook. … the writing is clear and concise … I think you have a winner in this book." Product Description

This book offers practical suggestions and advice for how to teach and learn those subtle messages that most people seem to pick up almost automatically but that have to be directly taught to individuals with social-cognitive challenges. Given the serious consequences that can befall a person who violates a social rule, the strategies and detailed lists of curriculum items make The Hidden Curriculum a much-needed resource.

3 out of 5 stars Good reference but scant on practical strategies.......2007-07-25

I purchased this book a year ago and it sat on my shelf until today. I dusted it off because I am developing a community-based social skills coaching program for an adolescent with high-functioning Autism. I recalled that the book had a nice list of the hidden curriculum for a variety of social situations (e.g. eating at a restauant, telephone skills, rules for dating, reading body language). There were a few in there that I never would have thought of. This was helpful as a jumping off point for making goals and developing a concise script for the sessions.

There is a section in the book on the strategies to teach the hidden curriculum, but it is limited in content. There is a brief description of a technique, examples of worksheets one could use, but there are no blank reproducible materials of the worksheets they used as examples.

I would recommend this book for those just starting out in the field and teachers or parents who want to know what words to use to explain to their child the "unwritten social rules."

By the way, I would also recommend that you "do not talk about how mucus looks or feels in the throat or looks in your tissue." :)

      1 out of 5 stars Totally Unhelpful!.......2006-04-02

I bought this book because a reviewer said it would teach people with Asperger's syndrome how to make and manintain eye contact. It doesn't. It just says you should make and maintain eye contact, it doesn't teach you how. This book only tells you what society expects of you, so if you already know what society expects of you, but just cannot figure out how to do it smoothly, don't buy this book. If you already know stuff like, "pull up your pants before coming out of the bathroom", don't buy this book.

5 out of 5 stars Great Resource for Social Skills.......2006-02-19

This book is a must have for anyone whose life is touched by someone with autism. Myles teaches her readers that teaching social skills is not an insurmountable task. It just requires a conscious effort by all.

      5 out of 5 stars Finally! A simple solution!.......2005-04-24

One of the missing components to the concept of teaching "social skills" to children and young adults on the autism spectrum, is that instructors focus on textbook manners instead of teaching REAL life practical knowledge. The Hidden Curriculum explains that every society has unstated rules, the things that no one explains to you, but which you are supposed to pick up somehow on your own. Remember how awkward and geeky most of us were in Jr. High? And there were always the "cool kids" who somehow knew just how to dress, just what to say and meanwhile you (and I) were clueless? It's because they understood the unstated rules, they had an unkanny ability to pick up the exact tools necessary for "coolness." As we grow up, we learn better how to adapt to social situations, we know how to behave in a variety of settings, even perhaps cross culturally. Adults grow into a sense of ease in our surroundings, we know what we are supposed to do. Now, imagine that you never got over that awkward phase, you were perpetually spending your life roaming around trying to figure out the world with little to go on. No one pulled you aside and explained, "This is how it is, Kid." That's exactly what it's like for our kids on the spectrum. Well, here comes The Hidden Curriculum to the rescue! Not only does it explain many of these "unstated rules" (many of which are humorous--who doesn't know you should take tuna in your school lunch because it stinks? many of our AS kids!) It also goes beyond to explain how to uncover them. It highlights how crucial it is for us as parents, as educators and just as a society to literally pull our AS folks aside and say, "These are the rules." For example, "Don't pick your nose." Good advice right? But p-leeeze, everybody picks their nose! (Okay, not me, but everybody else! :-) What we really need to teach our kids is not, don't pick your nose, but not to pick their nose where people can see them. Sound silly? Our children and friends on the autism spectrum just need for us to teach them one little tidbit like this every day and they'll find their way with increasing ease. And wouldn't you have liked someone to pull you aside in Jr. High and done the same for you? Let's equip our kids with the real skills to make their way in the world. The Hidden Curriculum does just that!

5 out of 5 stars Bridging the Gap & Crossing into Neuro-neutral Grounds.......2004-12-24

This is another book that people on the autism/Asperger's (a/A) spectrum have been praying for! This sterling work helps decode and identify tacit Social Codes & Rules. For many people on the a/A spectrum, learning these nonverbal subtleties is a major challenge. a/A related conditions are neurobiological and affect sensory processing and integration as well as communication. People on the a/A spectrum encounter a wide range of social difficulties, many of which are addressed in this book.

This work gives good advice on how to make and maintain eye contact; how to position oneself when talking to and listening to another; how to appear natural in practicing these skills. This book also gives a good explanation of how to "read" people socially and how to learn to anticipate possible seeming changes in the Tacit Social Codes & Rules. People with neurotypical (NT) brains already know these Rules and NT readers also can benefit from this book by seeing what people on the a/A spectrum contend with. Rather, people on the a/A spectrum learn these behaviors cognitively as this is not intuitive knowledge among the a/A population. Once the Rules are learned, the next step is understanding when and how and to apply them.

Make a place for this book. It is every a/A navigator's best friend when it comes to improving social skills and interpreting human behavior. It is a bridge from the a/A population to the NT population and moves all, a/A and NT readers alike onto neuro-neutral ground. The information found in this book makes communicating in the NT world so much easier and so much more logical!

Given the price, I was a little shocked at the diminutive size of this paperback. It only has 98 pages and it's packed with illustrations and bullet items. Word count is probably in the 15,000 to 20,000 range, so I guess we're paying for the "Barron's" name rather than content.

      Anyway, on to content:

The first chapter was probably the best. It had some interesting information on body language, the senses and Neurolinguistic Programming. The authors talk about "visual thinkers" and "kinesthetic thinkers" and explain how to recognize the different types and adjust your body language accordingly.

The rest of the book has pretty basic stuff: "Anger tends to be conveyed by leaning forward, sometimes with fist clenched..." But there are enough insightful observations and quirky tidbits sprinkled about to make the chapters interesting. The authors also spend time on how body language (epically hand gestures) differs in meaning from one part of the world to the next. Neat stuff there.

So all-in-all it was an interesting read, but based on the word count and content it should be priced in the $3.95 range rather than $8.95.

Bob Hoss has shared his experience and knowledge in the world of dreams and offers the reader an introduction to dreams in a personal and professional way. The book is an intriguing and instructive guide, offering many exercises to uncover the meaning of dreams.
Hoss is an expert in color in dreams and shares insightful and helpful information with us re: that area of dream study.
I liked it so much that I now require my students to read it as part of their course of study. The students enjoyed their journey through the book, as well, and recommended it for the next class of students.

2 out of 5 stars Interesting in parts, but not that great.......2007-08-23

There were parts of this book that were interesting or useful, but I felt like the tone was often sort of condescending. The flow of new information was very slow and so I eventually got bored. I also didn't feel like the book went very deeply into looking at color, which is what the book is supposed to be about. This book did not live up to my expectations.

5 out of 5 stars Realistic approach to dreams that are specific to the individual.......2006-12-25

Bob Hoss has captured a methodology that personalizes dream interpretation. By answering just a few questions about your dream, he has the reader do their own interpretation-- no more "one size fits all" for dream works. This book is a must if you are serious in interpreting your dreams. I have read numerous books on dreams, but this is by far the best and most personlized Dream Language. The approach is easy, and will benefit you in your daily life if you use it.

5 out of 5 stars Full Spectrum of Support for Dream Language.......2006-03-11

Dream Language is really a gem among dreamwork and dream science books, combining empirical science and the art of contemporary interpretation.

Typically I find most books on dreams will focus on the science without any relation to what makes a dream meaningful to me, or they focus on a dream interpretation technique without ever saying what the technique is based on.

Robert Hoss finally puts the two together.

I deeply appreciated the easy-to-understand explanations of complex brain science and the way Hoss shows how these studies are relevant to how and why we dream. I have never seen anywhere a book that pulls together the research on color, vision and dream imagery. Hoss goes on to use this research and neurobiology to develop a clear explanation of dreams, without explaining them away. This research then forms a ground for an emotional language that be read in our dreams.

The whole notion that limbic system assigns feelings to sensory input is fascinating in itself, and could be it's own stand along book. Hoss' research goes further to look at how specific colors are assigned, and how these colors show up in dreams. That these colors are produced by a different part of the brain than other imagery should be an eye-opener to dreamworkers and others interpreting the meaning of dreams. As Carl Jung and other deeply symbolic dreamwork believed, these colors modulate the dream and provide a doorway into a deeper and more profound relationship with the self and others. Also, our responses to these colors are something we all share as human beings. To some degree they are universal, though personal and cultural influences are acknowledged.

Dream Language is not, however, a dream dictionary where one can simple look up the colors and images in one's dreams to get the meaning. Hoss understands and provides
solid dreamwork in the book, involving understanding the dream in context with one's waking life, and allowing the dream to reveal underlying emotions, conflicts and beliefs in a safe manner. Several approaches and suggested procedures for both individual and group dreamwork are included.

It is really great to find a way to read the language of a dream that is based on real research and years of practiced dreamwork.

      Book Description

The traditional view of the mind holds that poetic language is a special human ability requiring different cognitive and linguistic skills than employed in ordinary language. The author overturns the traditional perspective by showing how figurative aspects of language reveal the poetic structure of mind. Ideas and research from psychology, linguistics, philosophy, anthropology, and literary theory are used to establish important links between the poetic structure of thought and everyday use of language. The Poetics of Mind evaluates current philosophical, linguistic, and literary theories of figurative language and relates the empirical work on figurative language understanding to the broader issues concerning the nature of everyday thought and reasoning.

4 out of 5 stars Detailed treatment of metaphorical thinking........1998-07-14

I approached this book looking for information to use in a university course aimed at finding out what poetry is about, really, in terms of perception, discovery, and knowledge. Gibbs' treatment of the various kinds of figurative language opened my eyes (to use a metaphor!) to the "approximation" or "fuzzy logic" nature of the langauge of poetry and of everyday life. By this I do not mean that Gibbs champions Deconstrucitve reductionism; rather, his many, well chosen examples empahsize the dynamic interaction of words and experience. This is a valuable, insighful work.

        5 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!.......2005-11-05

At 160 pages this is a wonderful book. The first fifteen pages explain how to read your baby's signals and such. Almost every page of the rest of the book has photos - big ones! Each page is labled at the top as to what is being expressed by the infant and there is a description for each photograph. It is separated into sections by age. It is amazing the wide range of things a baby can express. Occassionally there is a series of photos showing the progression of mood on a baby's face. For instance, the initial caution of a baby shown a new stuffed animal, to being interested in it, to smiling in delight.

Also, insights are offered. For instance, "A smile can indicate not only happiness, but also a release of tension, the end of doubt."

I found it most useful to learn that a yawn doesn't necessarily mean sleepiness. It could mean that they have had too much stimulation and want a less intense activity.

This book has helped us "read" our baby better. It has been a delight. Highly recommended.

              Book Description

Symbols belong both to the external world of culture, religion, and mythology and to the inner world of the subconscious and the unconscious, often surfacing in dreams. This guide to symbols describes and explains the most common symbols that constitute an important part of human life. Animal, religious, cultural, sexual, stone, physical, and many other types of symbols are presented with illustrations of each.

              Customer Reviews:

              1 out of 5 stars badly edited.......2006-12-09

There are many, many books on symbols and this one certainly does not stand out not withstanding the uninspired content, the editing (or lack thereof) is atrocious from numerous sentences with missing words to appalling grammar - I mean hectically bad - can't understand why the publishers would go to the trouble and cost of producing a book and not get it edited - it detracts from what may have been a worthwhile book. For example: "... Bellerophon, the handsome young who was blessed... Its horrendous misuse of the English language make it an annoying book to read as on virtually every line there are errors. The book may have something to offer, however if the publishers haven't taken care with the edit it asks the question whether the author has taken time and care with his research.

              2 out of 5 stars Disappointed.......2006-04-16

This book gives a less than desirable description of each symbol. There is no mention of the author's background except that he is a researcher of symbols. It does not list his education and there is nothing in the way of footnotes, endnotes or a bibliography. Most "researchers" promote their sources of documentation, whereas we have to assume Mr. Cummings did his homework correctly and is giving us reliable information. I would not recommend this book if you're looking for any kind of expanded knowledge about symbols with documented sources.
