Customer Reviews:
Very useful!.......2007-09-03
I love this book. I use it weekly, and most of my employees come to my office to use it as a reference. The letters are a great starting point to customize to your business, as well as excellent in and of themselves. I would recommend this to any administrative assistant or manager.
May I give back!.......2000-08-02
The cover page is very attractive but in reality the content is not so useful. First of all, there is only one example in each page. I think this is wastage of empty places. Secondly, there are very little examples for each topic. In short, I was waiting different sentences for every situation for example In Order Topic - Ordering: example sentences for introduction, development and conclusion; Order Confirmation: example sentences for introduction, development and conclusion.... But I couldn't find this in this book.
Great book for anyone with an attitude problem........1999-01-14
I mistakenly assumed all business reference guides provided, above all else, a professional format. Unfortunately, that is not the case with Muckian & Woods' Business Letter Handbook. Particularly, I was disappointed in the model letters, to say the least. I would be embarrassed to have written the letter in the complaint section. Honestly, who would begin a letter, "Am I wrong or isn't it your responsibility..."? (Mind you, I've already returned the book for credit and this quote is taken from memory, so I apologize for any miswording.) And since when is it professional to interject cute phrases like, "But seriously..." or "Just kidding..." in a congratulatory letter? What business person would write like this in a real situation? Were Muckian & Woods bored with formal business writing and wanted to loosen up all of us stuffed shirts? Maybe next time I need guidance on business letter writing, I'll call Jerry Seinfeld. He's not doing much these days.

This book is highly recommended for job seekers who feel comfortable about posting their resumes online. They will have the opportunity to reach a broader number of employers with specially-tailored resumes. Interested persons could also open up their own online resume posting services as well. Book Description
Money is a major cause of tension among modern couples because most fail to recognize that they are in business together. The 7 Most Important Money Decisions You'll Ever Make is the first book that teaches partners to apply skills and talents they already use at work to master their personal finances. The authors introduce a unique, revolutionary five-step decision-making process-complete with convenient worksheets and step-by-step instructions-to help couples take action toward realizing their dreams. After you learn how this fun and surprisingly effective process works, you-and your partner-can work out inspired solutions to some of the biggest challenges couples face: wresting control of debt, maintaining your lifestyle if one of you loses a job, deciding whether and when to change careers, arranging for one partner to stay at home with the kids, and much more. Here is a powerful personal-finance plan that turns managing money into a shared romantic experience.
Customer Reviews:
So far, so good..........2007-02-22
I'm only withholding the fifth star because I'm not finished reading the book, but so far it's been great. It's not too technical, and it presents what seems to be a reasonable approach to finances for couples. Much like successful dieting, this is not a short-term fix but a lifestyle change that provides a path for couples to follow and achieve success and happiness. Another great feature I like about the book is that one of the authors is not a finance person, so she injects "Real World" perspectives from time to time. I'm eager to finish the book and put the theory into practice.

Book Description
The Legend of Mercury Marine by, four time Pulitzer Prize nominee, Jeffrey L. Rodengen is destine to join the best-selling ranks with Jeff's other nautical best seller's, The Legend of Chris Craft, Evenrude Johnson and The Legend of OMC, Serving The silent Service: The Legend of Electric Boat, and Iron Fist: The Lives of Carl Kiekhaefer.
Sixty years old in 1999, Mercury Marine is the most recognized mane in the marine industry, and the memory of its founder, Carl Kiekhaefer, lives on in the hearts and minds of engineers and boat enthusiasts alike.
Rescuing a failing marine out board manufacturer, Carl Kiekhaefer and his organization overcame wartime shortages, government restrictions, stockholder rebellions and Kiekhaefer's own raging paranoia. In spite of his infamous temper, or maybe because of it, those he hired remained loyal, inheriting Kiekhaefer's grit and indomitable attitude as Mercury engines set world records for speed and endurance.
Kiekhaefer agreed to be acquired by Brunswick Corporation, in 1961, but was reluctant to handle the transition. He left the company nine tumultuous years later, and since then Mercury and Brunswick have learned to work as a team. As the wall came down, Mercury Marine expanded rapidly around the world in the seventies and early eighties with such world class products as the MerCrusier stern drive. Its name become synonymous with victory in races, fishing competitions and commercial boating.
Mercury was re-tested in the early 1990s, when the marine industry grapples with the worst recession in its history. Working with Brunswick, Mercury emerged with its own identity without losing Kiekhaefer legacy that abhors failure.
As Mercury Marine enters the new millennium, the company is poised for even greater accomplishments, and embarked on a new round of ventures and partnerships around the world. In this lavishly illustrated The Legend of Mercury Marine, Jeffrey L. rodengen ( author of the definitive biography of Carl Kiekhaefer, Iron fist: The Lives of Carl Kiekhaefer ) tells the story behind Mercury's own rise and ultimate triumph, and reveals the mystique behind Mercury's name.
Customer Reviews:
better than the legend of OMC, but..........2000-01-31
This book suffers less than most of Rodengen's work. His style of connecting his magazine articles into a complete book is improving. The coroprate history is accurate and for the most part complete. Still there is some of the redundancy of background supplied in each magazine article. Where I'd edit out 35% to 40% of the OMC book to make it easier to read and clearer, the Merc book only needs a 15% to 20% reduction to get to the point. Particularly disappointing in this book is the chapter on racing. Almost no research seems to have been done here. Merc's reputation was built on racing, but its a very small sideline in this book. I can not recommend the book to racing fans, not much more here than what is in Iron Fist. If you have none of the earlier books this would be a good place to start.
An Interesting Book.......1999-08-11
I found this book an interesting read. Great photos of the early days of Mercury really add to the quality of this book.
A facinating look into Mercury Marine.......1999-07-26
This is a well researched book that discusses everything from the beginings of Mercury Marine to present. It discusses their early day business dealings with Montgomery-Ward, and how Kiekhaefer helped them survive it all to become the largest marine brand.
This also has some excellent photos and old Mercury ads that are of interest to TRUE marine buffs.

Book Description
This last segment of the Sapir-Thomas Nootka texts includes three first-hand accounts of the Tlo:kwa:na, or Wolf Ritual, principal ceremonial of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations of the West Coast of Vancouver Island. The ritual, which takes several days to enact, is described in detail, from the howling of the "Wolves" in human form, to the abduction of children to their forest lair and the return of these initiates to perform newly learned dances. Also included are Sapir's field record of a Tlo:kwa:na of 1910, his correspondence with his chief interpreters Alex Thomas and Frank Williams, and autobiographical stories by Alex Thomas.
