Burkett's Best.......2006-11-06

True, Mr. Burkett says a lot of the same things in this book that he said in his other books but there were a few differences in this book. I was most impressed with what he had to say about the church's role in charitable giving. Prior to reading this book I was unclear of that role. I am of the opinion that every Christian needs to come to terms with finances and material possessions and Mr. Burkett, God bless his soul, provided the best explanations that I have come in contact with. Let me sum it up this way: if you are consumed and caught up in the rat race this book will show you a way out. Powerful stuff.

Wow!.......2006-08-16

Mr. Burkett once again defies logic with his interestingly silly version of economics. If you are actually interested in understanding the economy or anything about economic history, please do not read this book. Dr. Burkett received his honorary PhD from a university that does not have an economics program. John Maynard Keynes was not a socialist or communist. The errors in this book are too numerous to count. Being a Christian does not make you an economist, or give you the right to print your opinions as stated facts. The economic information contained within this book proves one thing: Mr. Burkett never cracked a basic economics textbook.

Wonderful job of explaining how an economy begins and showing where ours is and where it's headed (cashless system). Full of biblical truths concerning principles of finance. "Your Finances in Changing Times" is a well written, easy to understand and very informative book that will help you put your finances back on track by putting God back in the midst of things. Help! I'm in the wrong job!.......2000-10-06

I wish I were ready for this book years ago! Lee and Larry start by describing the workplace and how it is changing (surprisingly accurate for being published in 1993). Next they define what work is and help us understand why so many people are in the situations they are in. Then comes the fun part...identifying your skills, interests, personality and applying them to a career that fits you. Lastly they teach you how to conduct a job search, prepare your resume and how to manage you finances.

Fresh Approach to Time "Management".......2004-11-30

Most time management books tell you how to get more done with your time. Steve Ganger's book takes a different approach and helps you discern via tough questions if what you think you need to do is truly important. The book is spiritual in its view - decidedly Christian - but the application is universal to all, "Do you really need to do what you intend to do? Is the task congruent with your core values." Ganger writes in a reader-friendly format and book is formatted both as a personal (introspective) workbook and as a group discussion manual.

I have read with concern some of the reviews on this book. With the exception of the positive ones, I would be happy to find out if the critics have made their millions already.

For us in Africa, there has been an average of about 56% return on investments, particularly in the Kenya, Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE), Ghana and Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), South Africa. This book offers great advice on what otherwise has often seemed difficult to do; saving consistently & investing wisely.

Whether you are leveraging time or money, the analogy of the power behind the Pipeline is a welcome reprieve to many people. From those who are making the transition from full time jobs to doing their own business, those learning to set up their own businesses, and those in investment clubs investing in building big businesses, those who are planning to retire early and want a successful future and have never known how to do it, as well as the ignorant and plainly niave.

It is a must read! especially because of the candid and vivid examples it gives. On the one hand, legendary successful families like the Vanderbilt's, Firestones, Fords, Rockefellers, and on the other hand people who have showed restraint and discipline like Pablo, the small time elementary school teacher the Dentist who got arthritis and Bruno.

Just read it, live your dreams and let the sceptics and sleeping dogs lie.

Parable of the Pipeline by Burke Hedges.......2005-08-07

The Parable of the pipeline is a captivating story with a serious message on how one can achieve personal and financial freedom. Instead of leaving from pay cheque to pay cheque every month for the whole of one's life, the author is advocating something better and smatter. From one's salary, one needs to put aside residual income for investment. This the author calls building a pipeline. An investment yield returns all the time, any time of the day, in good and bad times, whether one is sick or not. Just like a pipeline, which once constructed keeps pumping daily, year in, year out, whether one is there or not? With a paying job, one is trading time for a pay cheque (a day's work for a day's pay) but if one falls ill and is no longer able to work, the pay cheque also stops and life grinds to a halt for those people who never thought6 of investing in a pipeline, but instead were to content live from month to month on their salaries.

Outstanding for beginners to understand passive income.......2005-03-10

This is not a how to book. This book is for people who need help understanding the concept of passive income. Income that shows up whether you do or not! This will get you thinking creatively as to what types of pipelines of income you can create for yourself and your family. How about a virtual pipeline? Most people think the only way to get wealthy is to get a higher paying job. This book helps the everyday person shatter that myth!

A great introduction .......2004-07-22

This book was not meant as a complete how to type manual, nor a book to answer all questions and to teach the secret of success. The simple introduction to important concepts that most people have a hard time grasping is this book's forte. After reading this book it would be a good idea to get together with a serious IBO involved with Quixtar and ask them to explain what the next step would be. Other businesses such as Mary Kay, Vitamin distributors or other Network Marketing businesses could also use this book as a training aid. I mention Quixtar because we use this book to introduce our business in a simple understandable format.

The parable in this book is an eye openner. The story is well done and interesting. The story was helpful in openning my eyes to the work mindset which had been ingrained into me since a child. Learning about building pipelines, which is residual income, was excellent. I highly recommend this book personally and for business building.

The problem for many people is that we are trained to work a job and have not learned how to own a business. This book teaches principles on business ownership. The story is told in such a way to help us shift from working our whole life and having little in the end, or becoming a business owner and getting financial freedom. This book goes along well with Rich Dad Poor Dad and Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki - cheers

They can't make seats either........2007-09-15

Perhaps Harley is going to publish an after-market book to correct all of the flaws in this book. Probably in chrome. I originally bought the book hoping to do some resarch on historic color schemes for a new bike, and in that quest I found the book to be quite valuable. Beyond that I found it to be curious that the book was a square format and all of Harley's bike are a horizontal format, so that every beauty shot of the bikes is printed across a gutter. You never get to see a bike in full. It's maddening. That being said, the history of the company and the culture is wonderful and inspiring. The shots from the archives are very well done and the tone of voice is very engaging. I just wanted to see the bikes. It's just like Harley's seats, good looking but kind of uncomfortable.

This book is very informative for the avid Harley lover!! This book would help you make an informative decision on which bike fits your lifestyle!! It is a great book to just pick up and flip thru the pages over and over again!!

My son loved this book !.......2007-06-08

My son has been a "biking enthusiast" and rider for years. He is currently rebuilding an old Harley w/restored parts. I'm scared of cycles and just stay away from them, but I even have to admit that this bike is beautiful !! He had a heart atack a few months ago and I ordered the 100 Years of Harley Davidson because I knew he would enjoy it while recouperating. He DEFINITELY did !! He's back at work -- but says he is still picking it up and re-reading or just flipping through it. It is such a nice book !! If you have a "biker" in your life or you are one yourself, either give it for a gift or enjoy it yourself !!

A Must-Read for Bikers!.......2007-01-09

this is a great coffee table book - not too big, not too small. i actually bought this book as a gift for my boss, as he is a huge harley davidson fan and has a fatboy harley himself. he really liked it! the pics. and the history in this book is awesome.

The history of Harley-Davidson, from one of the family.......2005-12-30

William G. Davidson, or as he is affectionatly known, Willie G., gives an insiders view of the history and near demise of an American institution. I drank the Harley Kool-Aide years ago, but it was interesting to get another viewpoint on the Motor Company. The historical pictures are fantastic, especially the old hill climb photos. This is a must have for any Harley owner, and a gotta have for bikers in general. Be forwarned, you will also drink the Kool-Aide if you haven't already!

Excellent book.......2003-08-03

I have read well over 15 books in the last year on the history of Harley Davidson. This book in particular broke the mold in comparision to the others because the author went over and above the call of duty in his research. Rather than simply recite the corporate timeline and Harley's non-asscociation with outlaw biker gangs, Wright chose to speculate on some very real issues facing the Motor Company today. Problems like an aging customer base, continued invasion from foreign manufacturers and a strong emphasis on where the company must set it's sights in order to overcome these issues.
Besides that he actually speaks in detail about everyone's greatest fear-the retirement of Willie G. The rest as they say is history. Definately a great read. If you're like me and have read a great deal of books of this nature, then you will truly appreciate this book. Throughout my time spent, I probably only didn't read a total of 10 pages of the entire book. Enjoy!
