Phineas T. Barnum had a real knack for grasping exactly what the public wanted, giving it to them, and making a fortune in the process. But author and marketer Joe Vitale says the renowned showman actually flourished because he "respected people and gave them more than their money's worth." In the entertaining and informative There's a Customer Born Every Minute: P.T. Barnum's Secrets to Business Success, Vitale identifies 10 key business practices that were developed during Barnum's noteworthy lifetime of commercial triumph, and he suggests ways they might be adapted for effective use today. --Howard RothmanBook Description
Among his many incarnations, P. T. Barnum always maintained one role: that of the greatest promoter of all time. He added mystery and dazzle to every project he touched, sending the public into a frenzied stampede -- straight through his doors. How did he do it? What business secrets can we learn from him today? Here is the first book to explore Barnum's extraordinary genius for making money. It follows his fascinating and wildly varied career as a newspaperman, a politician, an entrepreneur, a promoter, and the founder of both America's most popular museum and its most famous circus -- revealing the business tactics he employed each step of the way.
As the book shows, it's not enough just to advertise, or set up an ordinary table at an annual trade show, or hand out pens and coffee cups. These are shown to be the hallmarks of mediocrity, of a business doomed to stagnate -- even fail -- in today's competitive environment. By following Barnum's lead, readers will learn to stretch their minds, grow their businesses, line their wallets... and have some fun in the process.

Joe's a proactive marketer who brought Barnum's wisdom to us.......2001-04-30
Needless to say There's a Customer Born Every Minute has played a huge role in helping me to be a successful businessman. Ever since reading the first book of Joe's, I have considered him to be a success mentor. His wisdom is easy to follow - but more than that, it is right on! I guarantee that if you read this book, you will have tons of business and marketing ideas - it's that incredible.
In his books and tapes, Joe always covers all of the proactive bases: smart thinking, system thinking, futuristic thinking, and positive thinking. If you are truly seeking the kind of success and abundance that makes your life 100% livable - you must read this book. Some of the ideas Joe promotes are found in SUCCESS BOUND, another book built on learning how to live a proactive life that is God centered and fulfilling.
Joe's research of P.T. Barnum is fantastic! He seems to cover every aspect of the great P.T. Barnum's business acumen, plus a lot of what made him such a great person. I hope that I might be as well read and thorough some day.
My recommendation to you is, take a few minutes each day and ponder the wisdom and truths of this book and let them seep deep into your subconscious mind. Then, move out confidently towards fulfilling your dreams and goals, knowing you are one with the Creator and are truly success bound.
Best wishes for a successful and proactive future!

Rings in Auctions: An Experimental Approach (Lecture Notes in Economics and Mathematical Systems)
Angelo Artale Manufacturer: Springer ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 3540619305 |
Book Description
This book deals with experimental studies in economics. It investigates experimentally collusions in first-price auctions with private values. Since the main aim of the study is to see which mechanisms are used when the subjects may collude, the participants are allowed to communicate as long as they want, before they made their bids, but after they have known their private valuations. Moreover, the winner is allowed to make side payments to losing bidders. The subjects have to invent the mechanism they want to use by themselves. The theoretical possibilities are not explained to them. Four mechanisms have been observed. For each of them, we provide a game theoretical analysis and we compare the data with the theoretical prediction.
