Misleading Title.......2001-08-13
I believe the title of this book should be "The Complete Guide to Exit Event Stock Options". The author makes his preference for Exit Event stock options clear early on, and throughout the book focuses his attention in that direction. For those of you who don't know, exit event options are stock options that only vest when a company is sold or completes it's IPO. This is a reasonable approach for companies that are likely to seen an exit event in 2-3 years, but not for a company just starting out.

Not Enough of Anything.......2004-10-17
I thought this book would be helpful for either offering tips on certain tasks (e.g., searching for bugs, defensive driving). There is absolutely no substance! Topics are covered at a very high level, and too much space is given to mildly pertinent anecdotes. The grammer could also use a once-over. Finally, the book is way too brief.
Keep searching - there are better books on this subject.

Terrific source.......2004-02-25
I am purchasing an additional 3 copies for my staff. I found this book to be very helpful and certainly provided a lot of practical information. Especially useful was the section on medical emergencies overseas. Our company's health plan does cover medical needs abroad but many of our employees declined in-house coverage because their spouses had covered them with other policies. Many of those folks were not covered when they traveled. Also, we got into the habit of registering with the local embassies when we traveled to problematic regions. This was something we never considered before but was helpful. The embassy staff gave us good recommendations as far as security was concerned and even provided some additional information as to good places to eat, visit and shop.
Some of the information was too detailed. As a business traveler I didn't need to know that much about counter-surveillance and body armor. Interesting though not helpful to me personally.

I am buying several more copies for my staff. I found this information to be enormously useful. In particular, the information on overseas planning for medical emergencies was great. Also, the suggestion that we check in with the local embassy upon arrival overseas was something I had never done before. The embassy staff was great and not only gave us some valuable information but also gave us additional advice on places to stay and visit ect.
Some of the information was unecessary. I am a corporate traveler and really only needed to know the basics. Some of the book is a bit too detailed, especially the parts on counter-surveillance and body armor. Overall, very helpful and already made a difference.

Originally, I bought this book with my business in mind. I felt that we really needed to keep abreast of the latest techniques in security. Living in a nice, quiet community, I didn't have too much concern about my personal security. Boy, did this book open my eyes! I highly recommend this book for everyone---particularly businesses of all sizes. At home or abroad, especially in this day and age, we need to be alert. You will be as surprised as I was to discover all the risks that are out there to your company, yourself and your family. The authors have thought of everything; certainly things that the average person would surely overlook. Don't get caught off guard. Arm yourself with the latest ideas in security and anti-terrorism. Buy this book! You won't be sorry.

A concise and very readable book on incentive stock options and how to get the most out of them. Lots of practical information on what they are, the tax issues, ways to exercise them and more. I especially liked the discussion on using margin to do a 'cashless' exercise and then holding the stock for long term capital gains.

This book is a survey of the different processes of soil clay mineral formation and the consequences of these processes concerning the soil ecosystem, especially plant and mineral. Two independent systems form soil materials. The first is the interaction of rocks and water, unstable minerals adjusting to surface conditions. The second is the interaction of the biosphere with clays in the upper parts of alteration profiles. The first system is rather slow to react, about 5000 to 6000 years but plant dynamics can be as rapid as a growing season. This last aspect is of course of interest for present day concerns of the environment and sustained agriculture.

Description:
This study was conducted to evaluate the influence of sorbent modification by synthetic, chemical/thermal weathering on the sorptive behavior of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). A clean sandy-clay-loam soil was subjected to Soxhlet extraction and PAH sorptive phenomena were evaluated based on quantity and quality changes in soil organic matter (SOM) and clay minerals. Critical changes in sorption capacity were found to depend on the initial PAH concentrations. Above 7 mg/l, weathering increased the PAH in comparison to that of unmodified soil, whereas it decreased when applied below this concentration. Similarly, less PAH was desorbed from the altered soil when PAH was applied above 7 mg/l. Therefore, when PAH was applied below 7 mg/l, quantitative reduction of sorbent amount (i.e., SOM and clay minerals) by soil weathering governed PAH sorptive behavior. However, when the PAH was applied above the critical limit, qualitative modifications in the sorbents facilitated an opposite trend. Sorbent swelling, removal of competing compounds, and possible changes in surface characteristics by Soxhlet extraction, together with increased concentration gradient effects were factors that resulted in dissimilar PAH sorptive phenomena, pivoting at the critical concentration.
