Description:
Since firms in an emissions trading program are linked through the permit market, so too are their compliance choices. Thus, enforcement strategies for trading programs must account for the direct effects of enforcement on compliance and emissions decisions as well as the indirect effects that occur due to changes in permit prices. Our experimental results are consistent with theoretical predictions about both a negative direct effect of enforcement on individual violations and a countervailing market effect through the permit price. Furthermore, there is no direct effect of enforcement on the emissions choices of firms, only a negative price effect.

In this laboratory experiment on emissions trading, subjects face exogenous, random emissions shocks after making production and emission control plans. In some sessions subjects can bank their unused permits for future use. After a reconciliation-trading period following the shock realization, subjects report their emissions to the regulatory authority and are placed in different inspection groups depending on their compliance history. We identify important interactions between banking, compliance and enforcement. Banking smoothes out the price variability arising from imperfect emissions control. Price stability comes at a cost, however, since noncompliance and emissions are significantly greater when banking is allowed.

Description:
This paper uses laboratory experiments to test theoretical predictions concerning compliance behavior in competitive emissions trading programs. We test the hypotheses that both the violations of competitive risk neutral firms and the marginal effectiveness of increased enforcement across firms are independent of differences in their benefits from emissions (abatement costs) and their initial permit allocations. This conclusion suggests that regulators have no conceptual justification for targeting their enforcement effort based on firm-level characteristics. Consistent with theory, we find that violations were independent of parametric differences in emissions benefits. However, subjects who were predicted to buy permits tended to have higher violation levels than those who were predicted to be sellers. Nevertheless, we find no evidence that the marginal effectiveness of enforcement depends on any firm-specific characteristic. We also examine the determinants of compliance behavior under fixed emissions standards. As expected, we find significant differences between compliance behavior under fixed standards and emissions trading programs.

This study guide targets teacher competencies and skills for Math. You read four years of material between the covers of one study guide. Regardless if your is multiple choice or essay format you will have ample material to reflect upon to do well on these formats.

The majority of XAM study guides have 125 question multiple choice sample tests. the questions are medium to hard in difficulty but reasonable for a trained teacher candidate to answer. Since the questions do highly resemble the real test we are frequently asked if they are formker tests. They are not. If any question from our book appears on the test it would be a coincidence.

This book was full of typographical and mathematical errors. I definitely would not recommend this book. You're probably better off getting a book that helps to prepare middle school students for standardized tests.

I got this book and it's full of mistakes with poor explanations. It is horrible and after reading it I got so confused. Do NOT purchase this book. YOu have been warned!

This book was not the best tool to use for studying the Praxis II. It helped to reorganize my thoughts and think about concepts I hadn't seen in a while. The book, however, gave no problem-solving practice and did not resemble the items on the test.

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.......2004-06-17

If you're interested in this book, please listen "this book is not useful." It's a sin to have a horrible book. I used this both to prepare for my test and it did not help me at all for the Middle School Mathematics test. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Nothing is Perfect.......2003-04-20

I am preparing for the Praxis Middle School Math Test. After thoroughly going through the whole book, I respectfully decline recommending this text to anyone. There are an abundance of mathematical and typograghical errors. I wish that I would have listened to the other review posted on this site. I can not even give it a star. It was a waste of my money and time.
