For the first time, someone has reduced the difficult-to-understand Japanese visa system into a rational analysis. The book covers the thinking behind the Japanese immigration system then goes into an excellent nuts-and-bolts definition of each visa type and how to use it.
My only complaint about the book is that in an effort to provide legitimate information, the author has skipped useful information about the strategies of applying for a particular visa when you are a borderline case, and also the mechanics/practicalities of getting a new Japanese landing permit by travelling to Seoul or Hong Kong instead of going all the way home.
But overall, this book is essential if you're planning to move to and live in Japan.

High Quality Information.......2007-03-16
The past reviewer dating from February 8, 2007 is correct about his three points; however all he had to do was download the current forms from the IRS website for free read the IRS instructions on how to fill out the current forms, and complete the rest of the documentation. Outside of these three minor issues the rest of the information is correct and valid. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to save some money, and gain some experience.

OUT OF DATE FORMS & WRONG INSTRUCTIONS........2007-02-09
Until I started forming the LLC I was confident that the book was helpful. But when I started filling out the forms I realized the forms in the book namely the ss-4 & 8832 were outdated. And the way the author fills out "Type of entity" on form ss-4 is 100% wrong. LLCs have to be classified as sole proprietor, partnership or corporation on the ss-4. The author's way of putting LLC under the "OTHER" column will get your ss-4 application returned back to you like mine was. My advice is to look for a more up to date book or use a lawyer.

Chock full of stuff but painful to read and hard to use........2005-02-10
This book has lots of financial worksheets and checklists, but they're not written in a helpful manner or format. Plus, you end up entering much of the same info into many checklists over and over again. Worse, the text is really painful to read. It's not broken down into bite-size pieces or written in plain-English. And I have to agree with Mr. Bingham that it is hard to use the CD-ROM because you have to click into each folder to see what's there and then click into BOTH the PDF forms and text forms folders, because sometimes the forms in the two folders are just duplicates of each other while other times a form only exists in one folder or the other. In short, the book is heavy on forms and worksheets whose usefulness is questionable, and light on text.
Great Book for those wanting to start a LLC by themselves!.......2002-06-28
I find this book to be one of the best on the subject of LLC's. I myself invest in real estate and run everything through my LLC's. This book has pretty much all you need for running your company, every single form is incredibly useful. I personally do not use the Residential/Commerical lease forms because I use my own and each state and cities within the state have different rental regulations and laws. I strongly disagree with Mr. Bingham's review about the CD-Rom because in the book on pages 9-12 contain a list of the forms found on the CD-Rom and which form lable goes with which topic. An example of this is:

The forms on the CD-Rom are in text and pdf format. I wonder if Mr. Bingham even opened the book because this is discussed at the beginning of the book with the "List of Forms-on-CD" section and throughout the rest of the book. I think this is a must have for those either considering forming a LLC for your business or running an existing one. This book is saving me a lot of time and effort and will do the same for you!
Book Review.......2002-01-23
This book is a fairly general overview of running a company. It doesn't really delve into anything too difficult and a lot of its bulk (number of pages) is made up by repeating the same material (as forms) with minor variations. Clarity could be greatly improved if a single iteration of the form was given, and the areas that were subject to variations were so indicated. The way it's done you have to compare 4-8 variations to see what changes between them. Another serious failing is the lack of an index for the forms on the CD. They are simply labeled Doc1, Doc2, etc. You have to open each one to find out what they are. The book does not refer to them by the names on the CD, and there is no index in either the book or on the CD. This is a mediocre book, not bad, not great.

How to form a Limited Liability Company in Florida.......2000-02-01
I purchased this book to help explain some of the complexities of an LLC and why there are so few in the State of Florida. The book answered all my questions and in fact explained that with the new laws in Florida, this is the only way to go. I was able to use the forms and send a check to the state the same evening and was registered within a week. A great savings over an attorney and I'm not at all sure I would have understood any where near as much had I gone to one. Most attorney's themselves are not LLC's but probably will be in the near future when they have had a chance to go over all the changes within the law.

I loved this book. It is basically a small business startup guide that focuses on choosing the LLC company structure. It could be used as a workbook to start your own business as an LLC. Even if you are planning to start a sole proprietorship or a corporation, this book still has substantial value for you. It is comprised of 18 chapters:

The things I liked the most about the book include: (1) the business plan material included in chapters 2 through 4, (2) the Articles of Organization and Operating Agreement material in chapters 9, 10, and 12, (3) the coverage of Taxation of LLC in Chapter 18, (4) the State LLC information, and (5) the Glossary. All these areas were covered well, but more research should be pursued on each topic in order to fully understand them. A call to your local SCORE chapter would probably prove to be helpful to you to learn more. Also, you may want to visit the free law library at your county courthouse and ask the law librarian to show you the form book regarding LLCs.
Regarding the Business Startup Checklist, I would recommend that the preparation of your Operating Agreement, employee contracts, and Chart of Accounts should be done during the creation of your business plan. Doing these three tasks when the author suggests is a little late in the game in my humble opinion.
Also, at page 62 I would have said that an Operating Agreement is only important if the LLC is going to have more than one member. And I found it a little confusing when the author describes and discusses business plans when he talks of an overall business plan that includes three plans: business, marketing and financial. Maybe the sub-plan should have been called an operations plan?
I would have liked the book better if when financial plans for the business plan were discussed that there had been some coverage on cash flow statements. Cash flow is critically important for a small business - both in the planning stages and in the actual operating stages. 5 stars!

I wish I had read Maya's review sooner (see earlier post)!!
I found this on the shelf of a Wild Oats grocery. It was an impulse purchase because I needed a vegan cookbook in a hurry after deciding to go off meat and dairy for health reasons. Once I took the time to examine this book more closely, I realized I had made a major mistake in trusting that Wild Oats would have a good vegan cookbook for sale.
I totally agree with Maya Saran. She has very precisely described the problems with this book's tone and recipes. I couldn't cook most of the recipes without a major shopping trip, or a specialty order from an internet store. I am so glad I saved my receipt - this book is being returned as soon as possible!

The self-righteousness of this book is annoying ("Using chemical cleansers in my home is not an option"), the new-age tone is cloying ("When I saw my midwife's face light up with joy and wonderment everytime she touched my womb... I knew she was living her soul's task"), and the sincere self-congratulation on her own wonderful, wholesome, healthful, spiritual lifestyle is irritating. But so what, I just wanted the recipes. So I skipped the seventy page long section on "the denatured foods of commerce" and tried some. I am already a vegetarian and I was looking for some good food without milk or eggs. But I was disappointed. My biggest problem was the ingredients. One example: every other recipe calls for "Vogue Vege Base" - I had never heard of it. I went to a couple of big natural food stores, and nobody in either of these had heard of it -and I live in CAMBRIDGE, MA, WHERE EVEN THE CONVENIENCE STORES HAVE NATURAL, ORGANIC FOODS!!! Another favourite ingredient is Bragg Liquid Aminos. Hijiki, sprouted wheat, brown rice syrup, agar powder, slippery elm powder, flax seeds... the list of things I don't have in my kitchen is SO long that it's overwhelming. It's not just ingredients - equipment is also a stumbing block. (Do you have a Vita-Mix Total Nutrition Center?) I did try a few things, they were only ok. Instead of this book, I recommend '150 Vegan Favorites', by Jay Solomon -easy recipes with straighforward ingredients that always turn out well.

This book changed my life........2003-02-12
This book really changed my life. It is written in more of a casual format, but its content is very good. It contains a great deal of diet guidelines, as well as a number of very good vegan whole-natural-food recipies. I own a number of vegan cookbooks but this is the one that I go to 90% of the time. In addition, following this book, I've lost about 50 pounds!
