    It's a textbook. That being said, it is filled with extra material, like case examples, a CD-ROM, etc. I didn't look at any of that because my business law class went at such a slow pace we only looked at about 10 of the chapters. If you are buying this for a class, you should come away with a lot of good information from this book without feeling it is too much of a boring chore to read through.

    This is an excellent text at various levels of interest, desire, talent and time. The text is arranged that given the time, the Instructor can dig deeper and deeper into thorny topics. Additionally, curious students can rely on numerous web sources for enhanced views and greater depth.

    Further, there are additional sources for the Instructor available through test banks and outlines. This is my favorite text to teach from. It is neither dry with enough cases to stir the imagination of the younger students nor MTV'd and contains sufficient current cases to give older students and retired students pause to consider. 5 stars.     I am using this textbook in several of my classes, and let me just say- it has everything I could have hoped for. The chapters are laid out well, many cases are cited, and the student is given actual cases to figure out, with the citations given at the end so he can find the actual outcome. I've found this to be among the best textbooks. It is so good, in fact that I've reccomended it to several of my friends who are going into business for themselves. This covers nearly everything they'll need to know regarding contracts, secured transactions, warranties, etc.

    This is an excellent text. It incorporates the law, as well as
    legal research methodologies. For instance, a standard chapter
    contains an outline, common law sources,constitutional,
    statutory and administrative laws/rule-making. The work cites
    computerized legal research in WESTLAW and LEXIS. Relevant
    international legal citations are listed. The applicable
    United States Code is cited by Title and specific paragraph.
    In some cases, individual state legal codes are cited. There
    are exhaustic sets of historical and statutory notes, cross
    references and federal practice notes. Each chapter has a
    comprehensive case study with a brief synopsis, cited case
    and final disposition. There are teaching suggestions at the
    end of the instructor's manual together with discussion
    questions, research assignments and an explanation of footnotes.
    In addition, there is an exhaustive section on essay question
    answers.

    Here is a model answer:
    Stare decisis is a doctrine that prescribes following earlier
    judicial decisions in deciding a current case if the facts and
    questions are similar. Courts attempt to be consistent with their
    own prior decisions and with the decisions of courts superior
    to them. Stare decisis is important because part of the function
    of law is to maintain stability. If the application of the law
    was unpredictable, there would be no consistent rules to follow
    and no stability.

      The book came in a sealed cover. Although it looks brand new, it does say it is "used". You would never know it. It came in a timely manner and when I followed up w/the seller to see when it shipped, they sent me back an e-mail within a few hours. I would highly recommend using Off Campus Athens again.

        This review is pertaining to the 7th edition, hardcover book. This book is printed in very small print, all in one color (blue), on very thin (cheap) paper. How the publisher justifies the ridiculous price is beyond me!

        If you need to buy this book for academic purposes, then at least try to find a cheaper used copy--It's not worth the money!

                    Computational Auction Mechanisms for Restructured Power Industry Operation outlines the application of auction methods for all aspects of power system operation, primarily for a competitive environment. A complete description of the industry structure as well as the various markets now being formed is given. A thorough introduction to auction basics is included to explain how auctions have grown in other industries. Auction methods are compared to classical techniques for power system analysis, operations, and planning. The traditional applications of economic dispatch, optimal power flow and unit commitment are compared to auction mechanisms. Algorithms for auctions using linearized power flow equations, DC power flow equations, and AC power flow equations are included. The bundling of supportive services, known as ancillary services within the United States, is discussed.                           Design and Analysis of Simulation Experiments (DASE) focuses on statistical methods for discrete-event simulation (such as queuing and inventory simulations). In addition, the book discusses DASE for deterministic simulation (such as engineering and physics simulations). The text presents both classic and modern statistical designs. Classic designs (e.g., fractional factorials) assume only a few factors with a few values per factor. The resulting input/output data of the simulation experiment are analyzed through low-order polynomials, which are linear regression (meta) models. Modern designs allow many more factors, possible with many values per factor. These designs include group screening (e.g., Sequential Bifurcation, SB) and space filling designs (e.g., Latin Hypercube Sampling, LHS). The data resulting from these modern designs may be analyzed through low-order polynomials for group screening and various metamodel types (e.g., Kriging) for LHS.

                          Design and Analysis of Simulation Experiments is an authoritative textbook and reference work for researchers, graduate students, and technical practitioners in simulation. Basic knowledge of simulation and mathematical statistics are expected; however, the book does summarize these basics, for the readers' convenience. In addition, the book provides relatively simple solutions for (a) selecting problems to simulate, (b) how to analyze the resulting data from simulation, and (c) computationally challenging simulation problems.

                          My copy of this book is barely readable. Numerous parts of the text are missing. The printing is just missing here and there on the pages. Beware this edition. It is unfortunate since the content appears excellent.

                          This book provides a very good introduction to discrete-event simulation. The authors start out by providing several simple examples in areas such as queueing and inventory systems, as well as reliability. After the first few chapters the reader gets a sense of what simulation represents and why it is done. In later chapters they score high marks in introducing more advanced issues, such as probability models, random number and random variate generators, queueing theory, and input modeling.

                          In closing, the book makes for a very good junior or senior-level introduction to simulation, and I especially am thankful that the presentation was made independent of any simulation package. Instead it focuses on those things that any good simulation package/language should have (e.g. random-number generators, built-in objects for customers and servers, statistical support for evaluating hypotheses about collected data, etc.).

                          This book contains very well topics as input and output analysis, verification and validation, random number generation etc. I strongly recommend this book as an introduction of theoric simulation.

                          Banks revised his great book with updated simulation package and information. Several new issues, such as, tools/softwares, random-variable generation, simulation termination, how to use Simulation to analysis and design computer system, many downloadable examples. Sufficient theories, to understand Simulation, are given, for instance, the Statistics and Queueing theories. Two chapters are dedicated for random-number generation. One chapter is dedicated for verification and validation of simulation models. Although it's only one chapter, several references are given for further study. IE or logistic practioner will enjoy since one chapter is for manufacturing and material handling system (wow!). Very good reference and practice.

                          This book brings a very complete explanation about what Discrete Event System Simulation is. From the very beginning, they introduce what Simulation is by means of simple examples that you can manage by hand. They also give a comprehensive explanation about how to determine the apropiate distribution functions to use in the simulation. And how to statistically analyze the simulation results. The book also include a comprehensive brochure of different simulation languages.

                                  No need for a bread machine with these recipes! Simple, down to earth, and best of all....Delicious! There is no substitute for the home made taste of fresh baked bread and muffins. These recipes are simple to follow, and easy to make. The Potato Bread recipe is my personal favorite, but then again, mmm love those bran muffins also!
