This volume is intended to aid both those organizations considering the establishment of an institutional archives and those practicing archivists needing materials to assist them in evaluating their programs and planning for their development. The author's theme is that archival programs found in corporate, educational, cultural, and religious institutions are necessary both to the organizations themselves and their efficient functioning and to society's concern for preserving its documentary heritage. Managing Institutional Archives covers all aspects of managing an archival program. There are chapters on appraisal and acquisition; preservation and security; arrangement, description, and reference; internal and external support, fund-raising and grantsmanship; and cooperation. The impact of new information technology on organizations and the implications for their archives are discussed. A detailed examination of three case studies of archives is provided. The final chapter is a description of sources for additional assistance in managing institutional archives. Managing Institutional Archives will be useful to archival specialists, administrators, educators, and others needing guidance about the elements of managing archives. Its contents is based on a wide-reading of archival theory and practice and nearly two decades of archival experience by the author.

I have been living abroad for several years, and purchased this book when my tax situation became more complicated (i.e. when my income passed the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion). Although the information in the book is helpful, I found that the large majority of what I needed was available on the IRS' website, which is very user-friendly, contains a wealth of valuable information, and most importantly is free.

In particular, IRS Publication 54 "Tax Guide for U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad" seemed to answer all of my questions, and there are hundreds of other publications available from the IRS that are very helpful, are written in plain English and contain many useful examples. Of course, if your tax situation is extremely complex, you may need more help, but in that case, you probably will need to seek recourse to a sophisticated tax advisor as opposed to a book.

The writing and organization is excellent.......2000-11-02

I am an expat, and I found answers to many of my questions in this work book. I am not knowledgable enough in tax law to pass judgement on the quality of the information presented here. Expat tax law is complicated and intricate, involving many special cases which may not apply to you. The work book overcomes this through careful organization of chapters and topics. It is possible to locate topics of interest without having wade through large amounts of unrelated material. I gave this work book the fifth star for it's spiral binding, which makes it much easier to work with.

Title? What Title?.......2000-03-18

This book is an extremely helpful resource for expat tax issues. This subject is very difficult for an individual without a big company taking care of all the details. If I had found this book earlier, it would have saved me dozens of hours scouring the internet for relavent information. Note that this isn't a book to help you figure out the best way to wangle yourself into tax-freedom. You should get this book well before moving, use it to help you plan and then visit a professional - but at least you won't be paying a professional to cover the groundwork.

New Favorite Book!.......2006-07-25

This book deserves a lot more credit than it is recieving here. Yes, Edwards does speak a lot about periods of success from his lifetime, but I do not believe for one moment that he is doing it with any attention to boast his successes. As great a coach as he has been he does deserve some credit. Still, the book is about finding success, yes, winning. He lays out an excellent "map" to building success in life that is applicable to any situation, and he does it through the periods of a football game (before, 1st quarter, etc.). I was simply reading this for fun and ended up taking notes and quotes down throughout the whole book. This is a great help for anyone looking to improve who they are as an individual and in the direction of building success!

As an avid jets fan I would recommend that Herm read his own book. Some better titles for this book would have been:

- You play to win the game but I play not to lose it.
(I guess that is a little long winded)

- Why play to win the game when losing 75% of the time can get you a new 4 year contract?

- You play to RENEGOTIATE!

- Just give me the damn contract

You Play to Win.......2005-09-27

So far, so good. I had read that this was a "self-promoting" book by Herm Edwards. I guess I'm not sure how one can write a book about life experience they've gained without talking about ones self. I think he has insight on people skills and how to influence people. I saw a reference to John Maxwell, a leading leadership skills teacher, in his book. That tells me he's also a student of leadership skills. In my opinion, leadership can be learned, but it comes more naturally to some than others. Herm Edwards seems to be a natural...buy the book if your at all curious.

J-E-T-S, JETS! JETS! JETS! If you hear that constantly around your home, this might be the gift for that person. Can't say that I have read more than the first couple of pages, however, the Jets fan who got it said it was on his must read list and I haven't heard any complaints.

This book is so motivational and inspiring. I loved it. Being in a leadership postion it has helped me to focus and help me keep my employees focused on the job at hand. I recommed this book to everyone in a leadership role. Terrific book.

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face!.......2005-11-28

OK, maybe the author is a bit on the clueless side to include recipes with chicken/beef broth. I've always ignored her advice and substituted Vegetable broth and have never missed any of the wonderful taste that most of these recipes have to offer. We've been vegetarian for 18 years and I've relaxed enough now to not get offended when an occasional aberation raises its head -- try the Tri-Color fajitas, the bean/vegetable soup, the ravioli antipasto salad. The recipes range from clever (mushroom stroganoff) to ordinary (you could've figured out the antipasto salad yourself), but my well-worn copy proves that it's the most often used cookbook in my busy kitchen!

Smart Vegetarians DON'T USE CHICKEN BROTH!.......2005-07-13

True, the book is titled Meatless Dishes in Twenty Minutes, not Vegetarian Dishes in Twenty Minutes however, I found this book in a bookstore in the Vegetarian Cookbook section. I would never read this book, after seeing on page 9 that a recipe called for chicken or beef broth, I knew this author was full of crap.

What can you expect from someone who also wrote Chicken Dishes in Twenty Minutes?

Vegetarian or Not, The Best Cookbook I've Ever Bought.......2005-04-04

In my quest to begin eating healthier, I stumbled into the vegetarian section and ultimately onto this book. I have purchased vegetarian cookbooks both before and after this book and this is the best. Every recipe in this book is fast, filling and tastes terrific! The recipes are clearly explained, easy to make and pretty kid-friendly (translation: they'll actually eat it)!! The author also provides suggestions for side dishes and alternative ingredients if something might be unavailable (ie due to seasonality). Most importantly (to me anyway) is that it almost exclusively uses ingredients I already had in my kitchen or ones that readily available in any grocery store - as opposed to most vegetarian books I've found, which require ingredients I've never heard of.
This is the cookbook I reach for when I'm home late from work, hungry and haven't been grocery shopping to plan for a meal. It really does provide some peace of mind knowing that I can always put a great-tasting dinner together at a moment's notice.

"Meatless" doesn't mean vegetarian.......2005-01-13

I received this book as a gift; otherwise I'd return it. I was stunned to find that the base for the vast majority of the "Soups, Stews, and Chili" is chicken or beef broth. The author adds a note that since the major part of the flavor comes from the beef or chicken broth she doesn't recommend using a veg. broth substitute. Ahem. I guess that the definition of "Meatless"needs to be changed to accomodate an author who can't come up with a tasty vegetable broth.

Love it! Fast, easy, delicious meals........2004-10-13

I have owned my copy for over 7 years.
During those 7 years most of the meals I have cooked have come right out of this book.

The "tortellini and spinach stew" and the "mostaccioli with garden fresh tomato sauce" alone make it worth the cost of the book.
If you can get your hands on some homegrown or heirloom tomatoes either dish is to die for.
