A valuable resource.......1999-08-05
America's Top 300 Jobs is a great resource if you're looking to get started searching for a job. My only problem with the way the info is presented is that the book remains a bit too factual, and because it covers so many jobs, it can get to be a bit daunting (it was for me!). I'd recommend books like the ones published by Vault Reports because they tend to contain editorial info about the job, which definitely helps narrow your job search.

Many top level jobs in a number of professions are cited.
For instance, careers in Management Information Systems,
the internet, construction managers, engineering managers and
social scientists are listed as top wage generators.
Thousands of jobs are in the installation, maintenance and
repair of air conditioners, consumer products, industrial
electronic components and boilers.
This work would be helpful in crafting a career in the
professions or trades. It is a good value for the modest cost.
The book will help you plan for the career or educational needs
for the teenager in your house.

Great record of the mid/end 19th century.......2006-03-02
I totally diagree w/ the review above because apparently the reader did not understand that this diary is not a novel.
It is true however that the diary does not reveal too much of Ella herself. This is not surprising to me since she states that she is not going to open up to her diary and tell her innomost feelings. Unfortunately!
However, after she gets married, has children and is much more matured she does reveal a great deal about her life, feelings etc.
One can only thank that someone took the trouble to record personal information during the antebellum time and afterwards for the readers of the 21st century to read. Thank you.
Excellent Historical Read.......2003-12-28
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! How often does one get to read someone else's diary? (Set during the Civil War, no less.) The author was a well educated, intelligent woman for her time and she is an excellent writer. So many aspects of this diary are completely fascinating. Her pampered southern lifestyle, her views on slavery (she calls herself a liberal re: slavery and yet, she is such a racist.), her feelings on male superiority and her longing to do more with her talents. The entries during the war and after are the most interesting... but DON'T read the introductory notes written by the editor...unless you want to spoil the ending! I wanted the diary to unfold one day at a time without knowing what was coming just as it did for Gertrude. After reading the diary I went back and read the editorial notes which add insight into the author's life. This is a story of a very strong woman enduring unbelievable hardships. If you enjoy history at all you will love reading this diary!
A huge disappointment.......2002-02-04
A Secret Eye was a huge disappointment. The characters were not as developed and colorful as one might expect. The diary/journal form became ho-hum after the first few entries. The dragging subjects and subject matter made the 470 pages difficult to wade through. Augusta has always been my home and I did enjoy some of the local history. I am certain a more interesting story could have been told about my hometown.

Idiots to the left of me... Idiots to the right of me..........2007-05-07
Mr Galloway is quite the 'personality.' Please go to youtube and watch the full clip of his support for the suicide bombers in Iraq. It is under= Galloway Praises Iraqi Insurgency (w/ Add'l Real Time Intro). Mr Hitchens is also addicted to being in the media, but wait until he is done and there is a clip from Al Jazeera showing Mr Galloway essentially encourging continued insanity in Iraq- not stability. Hiding behind his glib manner and monologues is a mercenary mind. Remember that he is the author of the book. It is not in his best intrest to be totally forthcomming.
Anyone who says there is an easy answer to the middle east problems - crazy. Iraq is the collision of two different delusional world views. Blame to go around. Mr Galloway is wrong and quite probably guilty of profiteering. Don't give him a dime for this book- his retirement fund is in Switzerland.
US Congress embarrased .......2007-03-08
Faced with allegations of profiting from the oil for food program in Iraq, Galloway sucessfully demonstrats the hypocracy of US policy of supplying arms to the region resulting in the destruction of Iraq and the death of thousands of innocent civilians. At the same time he clears his name of any wrongdoing by explaining the mechanism of his charitable organization which is designed to assist Iraq.

George is a clever guy.......2006-05-24
George Galloway is probably the most decent MP in British history. This guy is courageous, well spoken, stays on message all the way long, and debates extremely well (I watched him defeat Hitchens the Popinjay). His arguments are simple but powerful. His prediction that the Iraq War would be launched on a pack of lies was highly accurate. His ideas on the causes of terrorism and that British and American foreign policies need reversal are highly relevant. In short: Keep up the good work george...!.

All those who saw Mr. Galloway on CSPAN when he was at the US Congress and have also read his book and given this book 1 or 2 or 3 stars are part of the Republican machines in the United States who when they find out that anyone is against the Iraq war and also against the Bush administration try in any way they can to critize the person or thier products. This book is the best out there. It talks about the facts and the truth. And I know very well that you Republicans don't want to hear about the truth as to why we went to this illegal and unnecessary war. The whole world is suffering be'cos of the policies of this Bush administration. For those of who haven't read this book yet, please get yourself a copy and you'll know what I am talking about. I love this book!!!!!!!!!!!!
