    3 out of 5 stars Disappointing ...........2004-09-15

Personally, I'm admirer of Dr. Mahathir, so I can't wait to get a hold of this book when I first heard about it. I read his Malay's Dilemman, though more than 30 years old, it's still an eye-opener. However, New Deal in Asian doesn't stand to its expectation. I read about 1/3 of the book, I just got the impression that Dr. Mahathir was just trying to defend his policies and bunches of conspiracy theories that western countries have against Asian values. For the financial crisis 97, Malaysia was one of the victims for this wild speculation, but apart from just blaming those speculators, not-regulated exchange market, he should also touch on why our country is susceptible to it. It's just make me feel his side of story is highly-biased. Then, there was a chapter on Asian values, why the press should not be as "free" ....Regarding the free press, I simply don't buy his theory that people should be protected from "bad/hurting" news. He just doesn't trust Malaysians are capable of making their own judgements. True, all news are some sorts of propaganda, but one should learn not to take the face values of them. In short, this book is not inspiring as Malays' Dilemma. I was hoping that New Deal for Asia should be: What can we learn from West? What mistakes we have made and what we should do to avoid it? Instead, I got: what bad things West have done (to us) and why Malaysia has done these.

ps: I'm not an advocate for Western policies, I know most of the IMF policies sucked, but there are always things we can learn from them too and vice versa. For one thing, I will like to have free press. Being overseas for so many years, I find newspapers in Malaysia lacking in substance.

5 out of 5 stars Truly a visionary & one of the world's greatest leaders!.......2001-07-28

This is a must read to all politicians who question his motives, his policies and his idealism. He has made Malaysia become what it is and stands for today in SE Asia. His vision of what the 21st century will bring to the world and what role SE Asian countries play is so encouraging to the Asians! Follow the man, SE Asia!

5 out of 5 stars Truly a visionary & one of the greatest leaders in the world.......2001-07-26

This is a must read for politicians who question his motives, his policies, and his idealism. The book tells how Malaysia has become what it is and stood for today in SE Asia under his leadership of 2 decades. And what he thinks the new century holds for the world and how SE Asian countries hold their own stakes in this world.

            4 out of 5 stars Like Gitomer's Books.......2006-04-18

Gitomer wrote "Customer Satisfaction is Worthless; Customer Loyalty is Everything" and this book is in that category. It's a book about sales and service that is written in an easy-to-read format, but doesn't just repeat the same old thing that is in most sales books.

He has thought provoking advice like "tell people who want to 'think it over' that it is an important decision and when you're buying a quality product like this, you should make sure you're making the right decision." This will then be followed up with a question like, "WHat exactly do you want to think about, so I can help by providing you with literature?" Most sales books just say to ask the question without laying the foundation that suggests your product is valuable.

I really liked the book. It's my second favorite next to Dave's "Selling with Science and Soul". That book is still my top book for selling.

4 out of 5 stars Organized and effective read.......2006-03-20

Jeff has great points and cuts to the chase to get to what really matters. The style is excellent in that it is in the manner of a true salesman, and not flowered up with superficial sophistication. For the salesman, this is a great toolkit.

            5 out of 5 stars Results. Now!.......2004-04-15

Blackman's focus is on results. His clients call him a "business growth specialist." In Stop Whining, Start Selling! Blackman fires tips, advice, reminders, and gentle prodding in short bursts that continually hit the mark. There's lots of substance, yet Blackman captures your attention with his conversational, fun style. You're absorbing his message because it's so comfortable to assimilate.

This is a powerful book for sales professionals, sales executives, company owners, and the rest of us who sell every day. This book is packed with tested principles. Its 9 Profit Pillars, 100 Profit Points and over 827 growth strategies inform, remind, encourage and generate results and profits.

Great for reading, as you settle into bed at night or to jumpstart your morning. It's an effective energizer and thought focuser. Once you read and apply its wisdom, you'll want to buy copies for others in your company or even customers and clients. Remarkably, it's the perfect gift for the seasoned veteran, the up and comer or even a new hire.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Have Tool For Anyone In Sales.......2004-04-10

It simply amazes me how Jeff has simplified how to be successful in business. I have put his strategies to use and have seen an increase in my company's sales. Furthermore, our sales team quickly grasped Jeff's tactics and easily put them to use in the field ... again, increased sales and customer satifaction were immediately achieved. This book is a minimal investment for a maximum return. Buy the book ... a guaranteed way to generate powerful, positive results!

5 out of 5 stars The ultimare roadmap to sales success!.......2004-03-03

In Stop Whining! Start Selling! Profit-Producing Strategies for Explosive Sales Results Jeff Blackman has written my kind of sales book. It reads as if Mr. Blackman, mentor, instructor, and sales expert, were right there insisting that you do what needs to be done. His book is the perfect roadmap for breaking into, thriving and advancing in one of the highest paying of all professions, sales! It's, full of pithy reminders, sage advice, and best of all, it is instructive and motivating. I own numerous books on sales, and some I've thumbed through, reading bits and pieces, some the reading of which is a chore. This book however, is a sales seminar on paper. Well crafted and full of down to earth information as of how to thrive, survive and advance in the one business where, once you master it, you'll never have to ask for a raise or for that matter work for anyone other than yourself. From the supplier: H.R. 2500 or the so-called Responsible Borrower Protection bill supported by the credit card and financial services industries might be called the Anti-Child Support Act. The bill proposes to force debtors to undergo new filing procedures and other government requirements as well as use legal intervention to exercise a right to declare bankruptcy. Once in bankruptcy, debtors will not be able to prioritize paying off child support or paying off mortgages to keep their homes. Yet the industries continue to solicit the patronage of 2.5 billion people a year.
