Yu Watase, Fushigi Yugi: Bride (Viz, 1996)
Here, at last, Yu Watase wraps up Fushigi Yugi, and in the final volume, some fo the spark returns. Not all of it, mind you, but some. Everything is resolved, and while the storyline continues on, it keeps plodding as it has been for the past few volumes (though Watase does love her fight scenes, and the big climactic battle is a good deal of fun). It is, however, the epilogue that rises up to the standards set in most of the first thirteen volumes of the series-- Watase's great affection for the characters returns as she bids them goodbye for the final time, and it comes out in the quality of the work. It's worth getting through "Part 2" of FY for. ***
Wonderful volume!.......2006-05-10
This is a wonderful finale. It has romance, emotion and is so touching. Miaka sees Tamahome again. Tamahome had come back to her world as Taka. They had a wonderful relationship when he was Tamahome and when he came back as Taka, they were able to be together again. When both Tamahome and Taka appear, Miaka has to make a choice between them. Taka is really Tamahome and has Tamahome's spirit and love inside. Miaka and Tamahome and Taka have so many romantic, touching scenes. Their scenes are so loving and filled with passion and romance, especially the love scene when they are in bed together. This volume is so special and is truly an amazing conclusion to a wonderful series.
the long-awaited finale.......2006-04-22
i could hardly believe that the "end" was here. this is the final yu watase installment of fushigi yugi. though, if u are looking for more of the life after volume 18, check out fushigi yugi ova and FY Eikoden.
anyway, this final volume is worthwhile and yet seems oh too brief. the action and adventure, nevertheless, does not disappoint. i was just left with the feeling that more should have happened...that it were to continue. but all in all it was truly worth the read, as with the other FY mangas and yu watase works in general.

I love this book!!!! It is so much fun. When my friends come over to play we always look at it. Then we roll around the floor laughing and laughing. Even the same jokes are funny over again.
I practice on my mom to see if she thinks the jokes are funny from "Good Clean Knock-Knock Jokes for Kids." She laughs too. Sometimes she says they are silly. I think they are funny.

This book is just plain terrible. I could't find a single joke that even made me smirk, maybe it's just my sense of humor. Anyway I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

There are some witty observations in this collection. Most of it is pretty basic, which is what most comedy is all about. Here are a couple of examples:
Q. What is the difference between a chess player and a civil servant?
A. A chess player moves every now and then (p. 25).
Employer: We want a responsible man for this job.
Applicant: Well, I guess I'm your man. In all the other jobs I have worked at, whenever anything went wrong, they told me I was responsible (p. 138).
