Book Description
An instant bestseller when it was first published in 1946, this memoir recounts the author's nearly forty years of service in naval intelligence, beginning in 1908. One of the first to venture into the realm of psychological warfare, Ellis Zacharias was awarded the Legion of Merit with two gold stars for his contributions. Among the highlights of his impressive career was the role he played in convincing the Japanese to accept surrender in 1945, a subject he deals with in fascinating detail in this book.
Zacharias gives readers access to rare psychological profiles that he prepared for the Office of Naval Intelligence on leading political and military figures in Japan. His book also recounts his exploits as a young naval attaché with the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo in the early 1920s. In the early months of the war readers join him in the thick of combat in the Pacific, first aboard a cruiser under his command and later in a battleship. Of particular interest are descriptions of his one-man radio broadcasts beamed at Japan between V-E and V-J days that received kudos from Adm. Ernest J. King for helping bring about the surrender. 448 pages. Appendixes. Index. Paperback. 6 x 9 inches.

OBITUARY: Retired Rear Admiral Ellis M. Zacharias, 71, deputy chief of Naval Intelligence in World War II and later a television narrator, died last night, June 27, 1961 in his home here.
Zacharias had never fully recovered from a recent heart seizure. An earlier attack forced his retirement from the Navy in 1946 after 34 years of service. He then starred on a television show entitled "Behind Closed Doors" which concerned military intelligence work.
Zacharias conducted radio psychological warfare against the Japanese high command in World War II. He commanded a heavy cruiser which was part of the force that escorted Lieutenant General James H. Doolittle on his bombing raid on the Japanese homeland.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, January 1, 1890, Zacharias was a graduate from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, in 1912. In WWI, he served as a line officer aboard the USS Pittsburgh (Source: The Fresno Bee, Fresno, California, Thursday June 29th, 1961).
He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington DC, on July 3, 1961.
Book Description
It is now widely accepted that witnessing or experiencing acts of severe interpersonal violence interferes with the mastery of age-appropriate developmental milestones and leaves children at significant risk for conduct disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression. In spite of extensive data documenting these risks, there is a dearth of intervention strategies designed to alleviate the effects of exposure to violence in the first 5 years of life.
This practical handbook offers treatment guidelines to address the behavioral and mental health problems of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers whose most intimate relationships are disrupted by the experience of violence. Practitioners from a variety of disciplines will gain an understanding of the impact of violence and will discover concrete intervention strategies to address the consequences of this experience for young children.
Book Description
A simple, yet deeply effective series of reflective and written exercises that leads readers to a greater awareness of God's daily presence.
Book Description
Many books stress the need to be “marketplace ministers.” An equal or greater number tell us why we should be in marketplace ministry. This book tells us how. About My Father’s Business offers proven methodology for becoming a spiritual leader at work, regardless of position or title. Regi Campbell has more than twenty years experience learning and implementing these strategies in companies small and large. With refreshing transparency, he shares his struggles to save his marriage, build his career, and pursue his mission to have influence for Jesus Christ with coworkers. The result is a practical guide for reconciling the quest for corporate accomplishment with the call to be a disciple of Christ 24/7.
“Regi shows us a path that leads us to love and serve our coworkers while moving them toward their own relationship with Jesus Christ. About My Father’s Business shows us the joy that comes from bringing a kingdom purpose to our life’s work.”

“ Regi Campbell hits the bull’s-eye. About My Father’s Business is a practical book that needs to be in the hands of every serious Christian longing to make a difference in their work life.”
Chip Ingram

“I highly recommend this book to any Christian seeking more out of his or her workday than a paycheck or a promotion.”
Gary M. Parsons

“For many years workplace and ministry have been viewed as entirely separate, almost like the church and state. Now, as men and women begin to see their workplace as their greatest field for harvest, we’re entering a revival. Regi’s work is a valuable tool for any Christian ready to touch their marketplace for God.”

What happens to your faith at work? Do you struggle to live for Jesus while earning a paycheck?
The truth is, when you go to work, you don’t have to check your faith at the door. Successful businessman Regi Campbell shows how your witness and your example can make a huge difference in your workplace and impact lives for eternity.
God is calling you to more than what’s in your job description. Your peers need it. Your Father requires it. It’s His business and only you can accomplish it.

Story Behind the Book
“I’m a business guy who committed his life to Jesus Christ in my early thirties. As a brand-new, fired-up believer, I wanted to make a difference for God, but business was all I really knew. I did what most new Christians do—plugged into a church, joined a Bible study, and started family devotions. But the office was still an enigma: a place where I felt no purpose, a place where I was just serving my time. I felt thwarted and stalled from doing anything for God there. I’m thankful the Lord showed me that the marketplace is where I am supposed to be. Even more, He has shown me some useful ways to think about the people I work with...and to help them move toward Jesus Christ. I wrote this book to share the road map that has made workplace evangelism and discipleship doable for me.”

Get ready to be convicted.......2006-11-10
This is the best guide I have ever read to helping you understand personal evangelism and to putting it to work.
More than a typical Christian Book.......2005-12-16
About My Father's Business is more than a Typical Christian book. It is a discussion of the calling and the lifestyle of "making disciples". As a result it makes the reader deal with issues of our heart like "How much do I really love the people around me?" and "What are the core motivations of my life?". Seeing this book as another book about workplace evangelism is a superficial reading of a book that calls out to much, much more. Campbell's setting is mostly the workplace becasue that is where his experience lies. About My Father's Business is a profoundly challenging book for Christians ready to expand beyond knowing more to following Christ. Letting this book seep into your life will challenge you in new and fresh ways to live in daily dependence on the guidance of the Spirit and to live sacrifically out of the overflowing gratitude in your heart.
great evangelistic tool!.......2005-12-14
This book includes an incredible tool for evangelism called the IMAP. It lined up perfectly with a passion for evangelism God was birthing in me, and as a result it's been one of the most impactful tools I've ever come across. It's helped me see the areas where I'm weak, it's given me consistency in keeping in touch with people, and it's given me vision for what to pray for them for. As I've had a desire growing again to have my time on this planet be all about personal ministry, this has been possibly the most effective tool I've come across to help me do that.
really refocuses you on what Christianity is all about.......2005-08-18
It seems to me that today's mainstream evangelical Christianity is guilty of putting too much importance on what people SAY they believe, rather than placing importance on what beliefs actually have meaning in people's lives. About My Father's Business, written in an easy-to-grasp style and in terms that members of most evangelical churches will be comfortable with, urges us to return to the essence of Christianity. Campbell explains that as Christians we should focus on loving and building relationships with others (NOT just getting them to believe what we believe.) This is exactly the attitude that many churches (including my own) need to adopt in order to create a positive influence in today's society.
Go ahead and buy multiple copies, (if you have the $) because you will want your Christian friends to have this book too.
Take this one step toward workplace spritual leadership.......2005-08-06
I saw this book for the first time at PromiseKeepers and was interested as soon as I cracked the cover. Campbell does an excellent job of explaining his thoughts about bringing Christ to work and walks the reader through the thought process. For most the thought of "evangelizing" at work sends shudders down the spine, but Campbell shows that it doesn't have to be as scary as many of us view it. His approach of meeting co-workers where they are and giving them what they need is refreshing, and is far more akin to wading into the shallow end of the pool than jumping into the deep end blind-folded. This book has helped move me on a path to increased comfort in spiritual leadership in the workplace. A must read for those who struggle with how to keep from checking Christ at the doorstep to work.

Sharpen your kids' thinking skills.......2006-06-30
I am having my two youngest kids read this book over the summer to allow for us to talk about thinking issues. Sometimes we think our children are unable to think, but we just don't give them enough credit. And so, in this new "kids" book by Lee Strobel, there are 12 stories that will help them defend their own faith. Each chapter has questions at the end that are wonderful conversation starters with a child. For example, "What would you say to someone who made fun of you for being a Christian? ...And don't say, 'I'd put ants in their bed"! This type of humor and the cartoons that are found throughout help make this much more readable and fun. Anything that helps our kids better own their own faith, I'm all for. Don't let our kids get to college before we wean them off the brand of Christianity we already practice; put their minds to work and the results will be long term.
WONDERFUL RESOURCE.......2006-05-26
Parents cannot start too early in teaching their children apologetics. This is a wonderful book for parents and teachers and Sunday school teachers alike to use in helping kids defend their faith. Using real-life situations for tweens this provides endless hours of discussion and interaction.

A wonderful contribution to the reference libraries of Catholic clergy or laity.......2006-06-07
You Will Be My Witnesses: Saints, Prophets, And Martyrs by Jesuit priest, pastor and peacemaker John Dear is an outstanding contribution to the inspirational role of Catholic saints and the remarkable influence contributed by their life examples and spiritual influences with respect to members of the Catholic community. Knowledgeably depicting a Catholic saints ranging from Miguel Pro, Mary, John the Baptist, and Maria of Olonets, to Clare, Philip Berrigan, Gemma Galgani, Andrew and so many others, You Will Be My Witnesses informatively presents a succinct yet thorough biographically oriented understanding and concise description of each identified and cited saint. Impressively enhanced with full color illustrations of the saints, You Will Be My Witnesses is very strongly recommended as a wonderful contribution to the reference libraries of Catholic clergy or laity.
Beautiful and Inspiring.......2006-05-02
This book is not for those looking for biographical information -- although Father John Dear does include some biographical details about the lives of those included. Rather, this book is for those who want to reflect on the examples of nonviolence that these individuals provided with their lives. Simply written, beautifully illustrated with icons, this book is very much a devotional work -- one that reminds us how to reflect God's love into the world.

Book Description
At the age of twenty, Khalil Amani joined a Black Hebrew Israelite sect in Miami, Florida. For five years he endured hell on earth-witnessing and having information about beatings, welfare scams, and murders.
Left spiritually devastated, Khalil left the sect, living a very dysfunctional life-a decadent and promiscuous life-womanizing, drug dealing, exotic dancing-a life filled with lustful tales and shadowy characters-ever shaping his world.
Khalil became the outspoken critic and number one disgruntled ex-member, recounting on TV and in the newspapers the horrors and atrocities committed by the Yahweh sect.
After a trial, in which he was the first of 160 witnesses testifying against Yahweh ben Yahweh, Khalil entered the Federal Witness Security Program, where he gives us a detailed account of the inner-workings of the Program-from someone who's actually been accepted into the government's ultra-secretive identity make-over machine. This is one black man's harrowing tale of survival in urban America-a brutally honest introspection on self, family, sex, race, religion. In the end . there is redemption for all!

An absolute must read for runners.......2007-09-28
I so wish I had this book when I just started running! It should have helped me prevent so many painful experiences as well as bills from physiotherapy... This book covers everything from choosing the correct shoes and injury preventing techniques to diagnosing and treating foot and leg injuries. The writer seemed very knowledgeable and he certainly helped me. With his simple advices I can run long distances again without pain and I couldn't do it in almost a year! I had no idea there are so many things that need attention when running safely. Think all runners need this knowledge.
Succint, Complete.......2007-06-18
An easy read, short, and has all the information runner's will need about running injuries and preventions. I found information about pretty much everything I went through when I started running recently [ Knee pains, shin splints, arch pains, .....].
Written in a user friendly format, it has all the background information you'll need about injuries. You can skim these over if you're not interested, and go right down to the prevention/excercise section.
The Runners' Repair Manual.......2007-03-25
This is a useful for book for anyone who runs. One of the authors is a podiatrist who treats runners and he is fairly pro-active with regard to self-help. I found it extremely helpful in treating a recent bout of plantar fasciitis. It might be helpful to update this book and see if there is any recent developments in sports medicine with regard to these injuries.
If you love running, this book will help you keep running without injuries forever.......2006-07-13
This more like a user's manual. A truly useful reference to everything related to being healthy before, during and after your running session. You will even find tips on how to choose the right shoes for you. Learn how to diagnose any discomfort before it becomes a potential injury.
Clear, practical concise, written in a very readable way, you will like this book as much as you like running.
Runners' Repairs.......2006-02-22
All those little things that are happening either to myself, or to my cross country runners now have some good solid information on treatment and remediation. It is a great help to pinpoint problems for self treatment first rather than see a physician for nagging injuries that will respond to self treatment. It is an easy read but full of information. For example, the neoprene wrap on shoes for runners that have chronic problems with sprained ankles appears to be a clever solution. Good resource, down to earth, practical!
