Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

    Book Description

In this stimulating “draw from your imagination” book, young readers travel through the fascinating world of fine art. Previously published as My Journey Through Art and based on works in the National Gallery of Art, the book includes drawing, coloring, painting, and collage projects to complete according to clues in the text. Each spread focuses on a different leg of the journey: on the left-hand page is basic information about the setting — such as a desert, a picnic among plants and insects, or a peculiar island — and details for the budding artist to include on the right. Many of the original paintings are reproduced in full color, showing how famous artists handled the same themes.

This engaging “draw from your imagination” book holds many adventures for young readers: a dragon to fight, a mystery ship sailing to shore, a splendid archway to step through. The starting point for each adventure is an intriguing image from a painting in London’s National Gallery. With the help of paints, crayons, pencils, felt-tip pens, scraps of paper, and, above all, imagination, budding artists fill in the scene. Reproductions of all the original paintings appear at the back of the book. From an adult's perspective, the finished projects can offer valuable insight into a child’s thoughts, desires, and anxieties.

Children may not love this book when they pick it up, but they're sure to enjoy the projects and activities it guides them through (especially with the participation of an adult). And they'll learn a lot from it, in spite of themselves! There are 25 good-quality reproductions of paintings from a variety of cultures and periods, with a series of activities based on each. Projects teach about everything from perspective, to formal elements of design, to content, all with easy and entertaining projects, games, puzzles, etc. Many of the q&a's are designed to enhance a child's focus and powers of observation, too. This book appeals to me, particularly, though, because of its ambition to teach not just the meaning and appreciation of paintings, but also how to see and think creatively. One word of caution: while much of the content may appeal to any age, the language used in most of the activities seems geared to mid- to upper-elementary age children. Junior high students might also enjoy using the book, though, because of the sophistication of the ideas presented.

I can't encourage you enough to know the information in this book. There are even forms in the back for you to use when billing people. The last time I brought my invoice to someone they responded about how professional it was. Read this before you start making mistakes that will become very costly to you and your business!

      5 out of 5 stars great resource.......2006-11-10

This book was invaluable in the pricing process. It includes guides that most other books of this kind do not. For example, guides for how to calculate your annual overhead in order to take it into account with the pricing of every job. Great book, and I'm sure it will come in handy when it comes to pricing stock images.

      5 out of 5 stars great book.......2006-05-21

The only book you may ever need in general stock & assignment photography pricing. This is my conclusion after buying several books. Other books discuss the business but left the pricing. So this topic become "mysterious" for most photographers starting their business. Well thought and the authors are not afraid explaining their ideas in details. Very useful and serves as reference whenever you need it.

For specific subject combine with other book. E.g for nature photography business, combine this book with John Shaw's Nature Photography Business.

5 out of 5 stars An essential book for pro and would-be pro photographers.......2003-04-30

I'm called a veteran photographer these days, but I learned a lot from the newest edition of this book. It's easy to forget expenses when estimating or billing, and the book shows you how to avoid such pitfalls. There are many new stock uses relating to the web etc. and I now have a basis for pricing such uses. If you are starting out, read the book carefully, it's as good an introduction to the business end of photography -- that is of course about making money -- as you will get. If you know a photo student, give it to him or her as a graduation present. Highly reccommended.

4 out of 5 stars Continuing the excellent series.......2006-11-12

This book continues the excellent Starman series. The writing continues to be top-notch here, though the art suffers. I know that I am in the minority in this opinion, but I felt that once Tony Harris left, the art went SIGNIFICANTLY downhill, not only in specific style, but, more importantly, in how well it conveyed the script. Yes, all of the essentials are still there, however there is just some personality, especially in regards to the settings and the background, that is gone. This is made more painful by the exclusion of any of the second half of the Times Past stories, which had excellent art and somehow tided me over during the initial run. I also feel that the lack of those stories in a collected format takes away from some of the valuable backgrounds to the events taking place during this book.
However, my artistic gripes aside, the story continues to build here and it is a must read.

      4 out of 5 stars Still learning..........2001-06-27

From the introduction of "Bobo" Benetti (a character who definitely deserves his own series)to an excellent explanation of all the various personas of Solomon Grundy, Robinson is in top form in this collection. Filled with some of Tony Harris's best art; this collection shows the series at its best, Starman still learning the role of hero, Shade unleashing a bit of the anger he usually keeps in check, and a great visit with David that shows us the other side (literally) of heroism.

3 out of 5 stars STARMAN - Not Quite as Bright.......2001-03-18

The 5th TPB Collection of James Robinson's Starman is the weakest so far. I should prefice this by saying that this volume is still better than 90% of the comics out there. Robinson's writing is in the top echelon of the industry and he's doing some neat things with the development of the character of Jack Knight. So, where does this TPB stumble...VILLAINS! Jack (Starman) isn't given a strong antagonist in any of his adventures in this volume. The best villain MIST has a stand alone storyline (which is quite good) but Starman needs someone to battle to help him further become the hero that he is capable of being.

This aside, Infernal Devices does have several strong points. The annual 'Talking with David' story is the best to this point. The relationship with Jack and his father (Ted) is still a strong central point for all of the STARMAN ADVENTURES. And, it's always nice to see Jack in over his head when surrounded by heroes like Batman and Sentinel. I hope future stories will just provide a stronger motivation and supervillain to keep things more hectic. Read Starman: Infernal Devices and then go and reread Starman: A Wicked Inclination to see how GREAT this character can be when confronted by a true menace.

5 out of 5 stars Starman-The Best Written Superhero in Comics.......2000-10-22

As the fifth in a series of Starman Trade Paperbacks, Infernal Devices follows the continuing adventures of Starman VII Jack Knight as he teams up with Batman and The Original Green Lantern Alan Scott (now known as Sentinel), to save the life of Solomon Grundy. James Robinson's writing and Tony Harris's artwork is top-notch and is certainly worth the price of this collection. It features stunning revelations (by Nash(The Mist II) and Solomon Grundy)and contains the best Talking with David story, which features ghosts of departed golden age mystery men. Only problem is that I wish this book was also printed in glossy paper like the first three volumes of Starman Trade Paperbacks, all in all, this is one book Golden Age and JSA fans should not miss, a definite must-read.

3 out of 5 stars An Old Book Brings Laughs & Chuckles Once Again.......2001-10-14

This book was originally given to be by my good friend in 1968--Just for some laughs. As the years passed, the book moved from one shelf to another, but it came out again this weekend. The rhyming "epitaphs" are just as funny, corny, and silly as ever. Not to be taken even close to seriously.

3 out of 5 stars A book that starts the creative processes of your mind........1997-11-01

This book contains a collection of sayings that can be used for creating your own tombstones for Halloween. However, much of the sayings are taken out of their original context and therefore have little meaning in the current world. This book does help you come up with better sayings. In short, buy the book if you are stumped, it's worth the $4 to get you started, if you have a similar book pass this one up. I bought it and do not feel that I threw my money away, if nothing else it makes for an interesting conversation piece on my coffee table.
