fantasy.......2002-05-09
If you don't have the money to buy an original painting of Robert Taylor, but you want to see his works, this book is absolutly fantastic.
You can look to the prints for hours, using your fantasy how it was/is to be a combat pilot.
But, do not not expect it to be a book with a lot of prints.
This is just a selection of one of the most beautiful prints.
This is really a book you can look in from time to time and turn yourself into another fasinating world.
Robert Taylor Air Combat Paintings-Vol.1-4.......2000-10-08
This is to clarify the actual status of Taylor's Vol. 1-4 volumes of terrific aviation art.
All volumes are still available through several aviation art dealers. ( NW Aviation Art/Leisure Galleries) I do not know why Amazon lists many of these as out of print. They are NOT!
The new Volume 4 is out as of Sept. 2000.
Wish Amazon stocked them all.
The Master's Work.......2000-09-10
Those of you who know Robert Taylor's art work will know what to expect from this book. Those of you don't, then you will be treated to some superb sketches and paintings which mainly focus on World War 2 aviation scences. Taylor has an excellent eye for detail and realism and researchs his subject(s) to ensure that his paintings are more than just realistic, they are factual. In this book he talks about how some of his paintings were done, along with comments from some of his subjects such as Adolf Galland, Townsend, Johnnie Johnson etc. The book includes 24 of his paintings, including some of my favourites "Dambusters","JG-52", "Victory over Dunkirk" all of which are on good quality paper. This is a quality book which displays the master's work and the master at work and highly recommended, although some may find the price a little prohibitive.
Ultra-realistic, Historically Correct, Aviation Art.......1999-03-01
This is the third installment of the series of aviation art done by Robert Taylor. Painters like Taylor, Truidgen and others continue to set the standard in historically correct military aviation art.
His attention to detail is superb and the paintings are centered around a certain pilot or group of pilots during W.W.II. Many of his paintings are signed by the pilot or pilots portraided in the paintings. Most are paintings of aircraft that are close to the ground, like returning flights of planes getting ready to land or takeoff in a historical setting.
The book gives blown up details of parts of the paintings and examines historical details not readily noticeable in the overall paintings. Taylor spends time telling the story, how he painted the scenes, and the research required for each painting.
The price is a little steep, but well worth the purchase if you are a aviation collector, especially if you don't have the money to collect the real thing.
Fantastic paintings and neat text too!.......1999-01-19
I have always been interested in military aircraft since I can remember. I build a great deal of scale models and this book has proved to be a valuable source for both colours and detail.

Enter Happosai.......2005-10-06
As "Ranma 1/2" enters its sixth volume, Rumiko Takahashi introduces one of her most memorable characters, and Ranma's perpetual nemesis. As if dealing with a lecherous little imp weren't bad enough, Ranma also has to deal with the dueling jealousies of two of his fiancees.
In the mountains, a strange little figure stumbles out of a cave and makes its way to Tokyo. He soon encounters Ranma and Akane (and tries to grope both of them), and it's soon revealed that he's Soun and Genma's lecherous, thieving, nasty, pantyphilic old master, Happosai. To Ranma's horror, it turns out that Happosai is very pleased that his new student turns into a nubile girl...
Since they can't throw him out, Happosai continues a reign of terror, kept only a little in check by Ranma: He goes on underwear raids, causes mayhem in the public baths, and fights Ryoga and Ranma simultaneously as he tries to worm his way into Akane's bedroom. And when Ranma defeats his underwear-stealing plans, Happosai takes very sinister revenge. But Ranma has some revenge of his own -- "woman repellant" that will send every girl running...
No sooner has Ranma dealt with that than a new problem arises: Soun says a Dojo Destroyer has challenged them, and that he and Akane need to defeat the Destroyer. It's just a ploy to get them to fall in love, but the stakes rise when a real Destroyer shows up. The problem is, Shampoo is trying to lure Ranma on a date -- if he goes with her, he'll get the Instant Spring of Drowned Man.... but Akane might lose the fight.
In this volume, Takahashi introduced one of her most entertainingly nasty characters -- Happosai, a vicious little geezer who constantly lusts after young girls. And alas for Ranma, he turns into a girl. It's unpleasant for Ranma, but makes for plenty of great comedy when the poor guy is constantly pounced on (in the baths, in the street, in the bathroom) by a creepy little man.
There are also plenty of other amusing scenarios, such as when Akane thrashes Happosai in her sleep, or when Happosai gets lodged inside a teapot. The funniest is undoubtedly the bathhouse scene, where Ranma is forced to duel with Happosai with soap, buckets and his own nude body, but not before Happosai sprays him with cold water... on the men's side.
And putting the "romantic" part in "romantic comedy" is the triangle between Akane, Ranma and Shampoo. Poor Ranma desperately wants to be all-guy again, but all his instincts tell him to go help Akane. He doesn't want to be on a date with Shampoo, but of course Akane thinks he does. Ranma being who he is, pretty soon he's trying to deal with both problems at once.
The sixth volume of "Ranma 1/2" ups the comedy ante with the little wrinkled perv and his silky darlings. And it only gets wackier from there on in.
6 cheers for Happosai!.......2003-08-12
This graphic novel shows the first appearance of the great Happosai. Rumiko Takahashi usually introduces her characters by having one overall storyline, or two or three chapters introducing them followed by a bunch of chapters involving them so you know they're regulars. The third chapter in this graphic novel features the first bathhouse/girl's lockeroom/outdoor springs battle! Involving Happosai of course, as most do. Happosai isn't liked much by the rest of the cast. Genma, Tendo and Ranma are constantly trying to beat him up and express mail him somewhere, and everyone is overjoyed when they think he's dead. However, you probably won't have the same feelings as them, Happosai is a fan-favorite!
In the second storyline, Tendo and Genma pretend a Dojo Destroyer stole there sign and said he'd battle them for it Saturday. They actually plan to dress up on each other's shoulders, making Ranma and Akane fall in love by working together. After telling this lie to Ranma and Akane, the next day a REAL Dojo Destroyer comes by and steals the sign and will battle for it Saturday. Also, Shampoo promises to give Ranma a cure for his 'disease' if he dates him on Saturday, leaving Akane to face the Dojo Destroyer by herself.
So if you haven't already, go out and buy this volume today! I guarantee you'll be screaming, "What a haul! What a haul!"
Another GREAT Ranma 1/2 volume!.......2003-05-12
Does anyone else notice a pattern here? All the Ranma 1/2 books are REALLY AWESOME! Volume 6 is a great book. This is the first book that Happosai is in. Happosai is a very funny character of Ranma 1/2. This book introduces Happosai and Shampoo's in it more, too. Shampoo seems to get cooler each time she's in the series. Anyway read this book. I reccomend it! It ROCKS!
Happosai!!.......2003-02-16
My daughter loves Happosai & he is well intro'd here. He's drawn cuter in later editions--looks much older here(lack of female contact?) His intro takes up half the volume--the 2nd half is a Shampoo plot to snag Ranma leaving Akane to defend the dojo, but Ranma can't stay away from a fight.
Joe the 12 year old comic enthusiast.......2002-05-24
Volume 6 was funny and it made me laugh out loud. thereis two new characters, Happosai(hes a dirty old guy that trained mr tendo and genma in any thing goes martial arts) and the dojo destroyer(huge guy that reminds me of a cat fish) well, hes not much of a main character. i give it four stars instead of five because... I don't, know i just do

Customer Reviews:
more fun from Rumiko Takahashi.......2004-06-16
I love the Ranma 1/2 series - actually, I love most things that Rumiko Takahashi has created. If you haven't read any of this series before, you should know that Ranma changes into a girl when splashed with cold water. His father, on the other hand, changes into a panda. A lot of this is explained just before the story begins, in a "the story thus far" section and a "cast of characters section." Although, as usual, I believe that it's always a good idea to know something about a series before jumping into it at a later point (especially this far into the series), I don't think that this volume will be too hard to understand if you've never read any Ranma 1/2 before. The two explanation sections to a fairly good, if brief, job, and, once yet get past the beginning of book, there's another story that's pretty self-contained. Since I haven't read the previous volume, the beginning of the book, which is continuation of a fight between Ranma, Ryoga, Mousse, and a trio of martial artists, made me feel a little lost. After that, however, come two stories that are unrelated to this beginning part. In the first, Ranma has to deal with a new teacher, who is known for her ability to deal with problem students. This teacher can use an unbeatable technique, which there is only one very awkward way to defeat. In the second story, Akane wants to investigate something that happened in her past. Only the first story is actually finished in this volume. For the rest of the second story, I think you have to get the next volume.
If you're looking for humorous manga, I really recommend Rumiko Takahashi. She does wonderful work and has a very odd and wacky sense of humor. Then you, too, can get looked at oddly whenever you try to explain this series to someone. :o)
Ranma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2003-12-18
THIS IS COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I MEAN RUMIKO TAKAHASHI DID THE IMPOSSIBLE MAKE A TEACHER LOOK ATRACTIVE AND STRONG AT THE SAME TIME!!!!! What I don`t like is Herb freak beatin up Ranma! I reccomend this book to anyone who has a quirky sense of humor.
Will Ranma lose Akane's love??.......2003-12-16
This was by far one of the best Ranma storylines in the entire manga. No, sorry, one of the most ROMANTIC. Akane meets Shinnosuke, a forgetful boy who once saved her life, and he immediately falls for her. In the meantime, Ranma goes looking for Akane, only to find her with another guy!!! Is this really the end of their relationship??
NOT. But anyways, I'm reeeeeaaally bad at summaries. If you've never seen Ranma jealous, here's an eye-opener. "If you're happy Akane, then Ok, but tell me one thing. Tell me right now why you're choosing him instead of me!" (I roughly translated this from the Italian version).
BUY IT!
School never cost so much.......2003-10-14
This volume was great!! I loved it!!
Finishing off where volume 22 ended it captures your attention once again by introducing Hinako who uses the 5 yen and up attack, taught to her when she was young. Sucking 'delinquints' aura so they can't be bad is her ultimate tequnique thus making her into an attractive woman useing their energy.
It was well, drawn, well written and the ending introduced yet another adventure, Shinosuuke!
I recommend it to any Rumiko Takahashi fan!
Much better than the anime here........2003-09-12
#23 starts out with finishing the fight between Ranma & Prince Herb.
Then Miss Hinako appears, with a new technique for Ranma to have to beat.
Ending with Akane running off to fight some monsters, in a place from a nearly forgotten vacation.
The last two stories are seen in the OAVs.

Wonderfully funny!.......2004-12-18
I found this book totally by accident and just thumbed to the middle of the book to see what it was like. The next thing I knew, I was standing in the middle of the aisle and laughing out loud at the things I read. I have bought several copies of this book and given to friends because I find it so amusing. I'd recommend this to anyone!
Hilarious Fun.......2002-12-04
I picked up the book at the library while browsing through some of the nearby books. This caught my eye because "LEX" is not exactly the most common thing you hear in your daily life. From the first section to the last, I roared with laughter. The funniest part was the section when he took out certain letters from "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and tried to make the story still make sense. When he took out "a" from the poem, it was hilarious to hear that Polly owned some sheep. It was very enjoyable. If you ever want a good laugh with the English language, this is the book to read.
