Wonderful interpretation!.......2005-01-11
The illustrations were eye-catching, and the song-story was great, applied to a small child.
My grandson wanted me to sing it for him again and again!

Professional Model from Europe.......2003-06-27
The writer is a complete idiot. He is nothing more than a headshot photographer (and not a particularly talented one at that), and writes at a first-grade level.
This book is worthless trash.
Good information.......2001-11-06
This book has lots of information and is practical with lots of tips that can actually be used. The way it was written however, I can't determine if Karl Preston is arrogant or just that wise cracking.
MORE SELF-SERVICE BY THE INDUSTRY FOR THE INDUSTRY.......2001-09-09
How many more modeling books is Eileen Ford going to 'endorse?' When will a writer give young people starting out in the industry some straight talk about where they best fit into the industry and how to make the most of their talents and reach their full potential? This book conveniently sidesteps the BIG CHANGES in the Industry over the last five-seven years. GET REAL PLEASE.
If you get only one book on this topic,..........2001-02-23
Get this book! It is a wonderful introduction to the field of modelling and commercial acting. The information is accurate and insightful. The book turns wannabes into informed, prepared competitors! As an adult male, I find the book particularly helpful, as it is not pitched toward pre-teenage girls like many other excellent books. The step by step approaches to getting photos, contacting agents, going to go-sees and auditions, were great. I am now with a great agency, have booked both print and TV commercial work (as a SAG principal, no less...), and am pursuing acting as well. This book has prepared me well and I highly recommend it.
A book about modeling by a headshot photographer.......1999-10-18
The author's title (photographer) leads the reader to believe that he is an expert in the field. In fact, there's a lot of misinformation in this book. Buyer beware.
Book Description
This straight forward, informative guide helps potential second home buyers, investors and renters easily understand the nuances of Mexican property, mortgages and escrow. Aimed at baby boomers and retirees who want to discover an inexpensive spot to spend their leisure days safely in the sun.

Cashing In on a Second Home in Mexico: How to Buy, Rent and Profit from Property South of the Border.......2007-08-28
Book in great condition. Easy reading, and many good pointers on moving to Mexico. Great information on email address for help on subject of renting or owning property. Think it will be very usefull.
Useful information.......2007-07-19
I found this book very informative. It covered all aspects of buying property in Mexcio and information on specific areas of the country. Even though he promotes Stewart Title Insurance I see how this is an important area to consider when purchasing in Mexico. I learned a lot and will keep this book for future reference.
Great Book.......2007-07-05
I "bought" a home in Puerto Pensaco two years ago. I am still trying to get my Fideicomiso. While everything looks like it will turn out ok, I sure wish i had read this book first. If nothing else I would have understood the process better and would have know what questions to ask and what documents to look for.
A very informative book and I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about buying in Mexico. It will increase you comfort level trmendously.
Giving it a 3 because it did contain some useful information.......2007-06-15
It deserves 3 stars because it did contain some useful information which was unknown to me, however it wasn't that great of a read. There are not a whole lot of books on buying a home in Mexico so this one will have to do for now.
Very Poorly Written.......2007-05-07
I found this book very poorly written, incredibly boring, and repetitive to the point that the eyes glaze over after a while. I think one of the writers must be a lawyer whose intention is to make things obscure rather than clear. It needs a thorough editing, but I think the person would be "mad as a hatter" before s/he finished the task. As another reviewer observed, the book should be greatly reduced in size, and Stewart Title Company should pay for advertisement -- if it had not already done so. Appendix B "Getting Into Mexico" is totally out of date.
Customer Reviews:
90% Useless.......2004-12-10
This book should be titled "How to Fill a 189 Page Book with 3 Pages of Information". Double spaced large type, lots of white space and irrelevant and useless filler occupy the vast bulk of this tounge-in-cheek, story tellin', vague collection of obsolete, incomplete, good ole' boy jaw-jackin' generalities. The few scattered facts in this book can easily be found by anyone with 3 minutes to spend on Google. On the other hand, it's encouraging to know that your competition in this business includes those who actually thought they learned something from this paperback.
No much use if you buy this book.......2002-04-14
I bought this book and hope to learn something which I don't know. Very disappointed!!! About 30% of the materials written in the book (such as jokes, stories, a little history) is not really in relating to the subject of the book, which is tax land sale. 50% of the materials might be on the subject, however they are not very useful. At maximum, only 20% is useful information...
Not so easy for the average person........2002-02-03
This book goes into great detail in describing ways to buy land. Unfortunately, this is no book for the novice. If you are looking for entry-level information on how to buy land cheaply you would do well to bypass this one and find something else. On the other hand, if you have some real estate savy this book will give you some real strategies to help you in your search.
A waste of time.......2001-07-17
I thinks this book lacks any useful information. She covers the topics in a very superficial way and she does not provide any real depth. If I want to get into Tax Sales and I think that reading this book will help me to do it, I am wrong. I will know a little more about tax sales but not enough to get into this business. I would hope that somebody wrote a book with more in-depth information that really helped you to get started.
Informative & Easy to Read, Rare Tax Sales Tome.......1999-11-17
I just read Lin Stone's delightful and wonderful book on the subject of tax sales. It was very interesting, though somewhat light reading that was also informative. It left me wanting more, but unfortunately that more does not exist. The subject of Tax Sales is given only minimal coverage by most real estate authors. And for good reason, it is a difficult subject where 50 different states have 50 different tax sale laws. Additionally most authors know little or nothing about the subject. Do the liens transfer with the property? What is the period of owner redemption? Tax Sales are probably the most treacherous form of real estate investment. Seller disclosures, consumer protection and other statutory safeguards for the real estate buyer just plain do NOT exist in the tax sale arena. You could end up buying a toxic waste dump, a cliff, a wetland, a tiny sliver of land, a flood plain, a landlocked parcel or even underwater property at tax sales. I've seen all of the above at tax sale. Nobody will tell you about the property shortcomings, only your own research can overcome those obstacles. Most of the tax sale properties are junk; many are worthless or have expensive problems like bad title; you have to distinguish the gems or at least the diamond in the rough. There are only two other books, by Hendricks and Moskowitz, on tax sales that are even worth reading. If you're serious read all three. Lin Stone tells a tale that is easy to read, but is somewhat lacking in depth. Big print and lots of white space make the book seem bigger than it really is. Stone does have chapters on internet and adverse possession that are unique, fun and very interesting. But chapters on Fannie Mae, Hud, VA, etc. are out of place, unnecessary, and filler. The chapters on finding the properties was enlightening. The chapter on buying a house was much to short as Stone concentrates on land. In the back of the book the list of states does not include all 50, obviously a conscious omission by the author. All and all the book was informative, offered insight that only an experience tax sale buyer/author can offer. It would be an excellent choice for beginners, but would probably be too shallow for the experienced tax sale buyer. Also some of the points made are not universal to different state tax sales. As I said earlier it is a difficult subject because of the vast difference of state law. This book is a beginning but by no means assume expertise after reading. Lin Stone's book will help, but be careful out there!

Don't Build Home Without It!.......2007-01-01
Well written, and quite valuable. Very detailed as the topic is technical, yet also readable. VERY useful information it would take a while to find yourself. I would have liked to have some of the information in front of me before I purchased land there. As for building, its very local specific, for Thailand, and some region specific info also. Thats a good thing....
I'd say "Dont Build Home Without It," to play on the AmEx slogan (not that I have any fondness for those corporates....:). I wont. Many of the details here you will likely be faced with at some point, in a relatively complex place (land ownership, etc). The experiences (and knowledge) of others is an invaluable gift. It helps if you can also write, which he can.
Highly recommended, as is his other book (with Thai co-author), Retiring in Thailand. If you plan to do this also, it will save you (and will me) a lot of pain and frustration, I am sure. Also very detailed yet readable. In my experience (Belize, Panama) its some of the best of the genre. Unqualified 5 stars, as is this book. Thanks, Phillip....!
Excellent book on Building a House in Thailand!.......2006-11-28
Mr Puterbach's polemic against "How to Buy Land and Build a House in Thailand"
has almost NOTHING to do with the book he pretends to be reviewing.
Yes, "stuff" happens everywhere, all the time. But if you are dumb
enough to put your newly built house in the name of a nearly broke single mother
you just met in a bar, you are likely not bright enough to be building
a house on your own in another country to begin with!
Having said that, I found Mr Bryce's an EXCELLENT book on the pros and
cons, the risks and rewards of building a house in Thailand.
I personally found his experience and information invaluable, and would
STRONGLY recommend you not even consider building a house in Thailand without reading this book first!
There are indeed many complexities involved, and this book is the easiest
way thru the challenges you will indeed encounter.

How to buy land cheap.......2002-09-11
Disappointing! After much time and much searching for cheap land the author's way, I came up with ZIP! Nothing I found was as cheap as the book's examples. It was a waste of my time...so much so that I had to come back and say so. The rules have changed, real estate is changed, and the good deals are just not there. I'm really disappointed after spending so much for the book. I tried in the areas the book suggested. I even live in one of the areas the book suggested as being a good area to try. I'm not picky either. I just can't spend a fortune on property, and since I don't have a bundle, the properties in this real estate boom economy, are out of my reach. The book promised to deliver the strategies to get the reader cheap land. It failed to do so.
By far the best.......2002-07-19
This book is the best book i have found for buying land cheap.
A few weeks after i purchased this book i bought i acre of land seven miles from the Candian border for [70.00] free and clear .
This is better than buying all those courses for hundreds of dollars .
Techniques that work, period........2000-08-28
I have been a tax foreclosed property investor for just over two years now and wish I would have found this book earlier!
All of the techniques that I use to find cheap land, and even some that I have never thought of before, are all in this book. Residentially zoned building lots for between $5.00 and $100.00 are available to anyone willing to use the techniques spelled out in this informative book. Large acreage can also be acquired cheaply and with relative ease.
This book is actually more of a manual on acquiring all types of cheap land, listing each technique individually and then tying in the overall ideas about acquiring county and state owned property very neatly in the end.
If you are looking to make some money on the side buying, selling or trading this niche type of investment property, or if you are just looking for a place to go camping each you that you can call you own, this is the book for you!
Informative, Easy to Read, But Too Brief.......1999-11-19
With only 124 pages not counting the glossary and several lists and white space, this is one of the easiest books to read. There is good information, but the depth applied to each subject is not enough. The chapter on Canadian land was different and not commonly written about, especially in the states. The author whets your appetite and leaves your wanting more. And that was my slight disappointment with "How to Buy Land Cheap". I have seen land bought for $1 and a house bought for $50 (including the land), so I know that what Mr. Preston write of is not only possible but true. Every word is believable and there is no fluff, boasting or exaggeration in this book. The author is not blowing his own horn or trying to sell other products. Although refreshing and insightful, this book is a primer and geared for the beginner. And since the 50 states have 50 different laws and rules, some of the information may not be the case in some states. I liked the book and the price is reasonable but I just felt that the book was too short. More advanced readers will find the lack of depth boring and superficial. This Fifth Edition text has obviously been updated and the author is correct in stating that things change and bargain real estate purchase methods change. Just as homesteading is no longer a viable option so has the RTC (Resolution Trust Corp.) gone away. The suggestion of using the United National catalog is one that I had used myself as a source of regional information at a cheap cost. I've said it before, but buying land sight unseen in the era of toxic waste dumps, wetlands, under ground storage tanks, and all the other natural and man made diasters is foolhardy. Even a trash pile on a farm has been known to contain empty containers of weed killer or insecticide that are toxic. The author is correct in stressing that you do your research. I recommend this book but not only to beginners and with the caveat that it doesn't cover the topics to the depths that I would have liked. This book started as a phamphlet, today it is either a long phamphlet or a short book. I applaud the authors reference publication lists as so many authors don't share their sources. Mr. Preston write in a down to earth style, easily understood giving the reader the feeling that he knows his subject and has done it himself. His title is excellent and the good book could have been excellent with more details, more depth, and more stories of sucess.
Gets right to the point of buying cheap land........1999-04-27
I liked this book because it got "right to the point". No hype, but just facts. There we're no claims that you were going to get a million dollar lot of land for $100. It told you what to expect. I've read this type of information elsewhere, but never comprised in one text. The author presented several routes along with addresses to find and buy cheap land throughout the U.S. and Canada, although Canadian land is more difficult to purchase (as the book claims). Very easy reading, and extremely affordable book.

Very Helpful Book.......2000-09-15
This is a great book for learning different questions to ask your lender so that you can get the deal that is best for you. It also tells you different companies and programs that you can contact to get on a little or no money down program. This was an extremely helpful book. It completely covered the loan part of buying a home. If you have questions about other aspects of buying a home this book won't really help that much. For that get Home Buying for dummies. Between the two you can answer all of your own questions!

Product Description
Buying a flat to live in or to let is different from buying and living in a house. For example, apartments are sold leasehold rather than freehold which means you buy a length of tenure rather than the property itself. This can have serious implications when the freeholder suddenly hikes up the service charges or lands you with a six figure sum for exterior decoration. And more quarrels and lawsuits arise among flat dwellers than with any other type of housing. So it is essential that, if you can't 'love thy neighbor' you can at least co-exist reasonably peacefully together for everyone's benefit. This book explains the complicated leasehold laws governing flats and gives expert advice on how to live amicably in an apartment building. It features topics such as: understanding the laws that govern multiple occupation; the different types of communal housing available; how leases work; management and articles of Association; common problems and their solutions; choosing an ideal apartment; buying the freehold; and dealing with nuisance neighbours.
