Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
Tonio Hölscher develops a new theoretical concept for understanding the Roman art of images by establishing a connection between artistic forms and content and expressions of ideology--such as the glorification of state and ruler, war and triumph. A large role is played here by the reception of earlier images from Greek art. Roman art therefore appears to operate as a semantic system which, from an interdisciplinary perspective, can be compared with the forms of Roman literature as well as the language of images of other cultures.

Book Description
This volume of new work by leading scholars explores the ways in which visual and oral communication in Greek culture interact and throws new light on their many and related functions. The subjects include the creation of the Greek myths during the early centuries of the first millennium B.C. when the technique of writing had been lost; the significance of words and images on painted pottery; the relationship between drama on stage and the illustration of the same stories on pottery; and the ways in which stories portrayed in monumental sculpture on temples were understood by the people who came to look at them. Classical Greece produced the beginnings of the tradition of philosophical reflection on the nature and value of images, notably in the work of Plato and Aristotle: the concept of mimesis, concerned with questions both of representation and expression, is directly addressed by several of the authors, and forms an underlying theme of the volume as a whole. The authors are drawn from the historical, archaeological, literary, philosophical, and art historical fields of classical study.

“This is a good book to give to crocheters who complain that knitters have all the good pattern books. The 60 sweaters included here are graded as to difficulty and include complete instructions, schematics, and color photographs.”—Library Journal.
Customer Reviews:
Better crochet sweater books out there . . . .......2004-10-20
Instead of this book, which is quite dated, I would recommend Crochet With Style: Fun-To-Make Sweaters for All Seasons by Melissa Leapman or Today's Crochet by Crochet Guild of America. I found Nola Theiss's book to be pretty vague as to types and amount of yarn needed for most of the projects, and she has you knit (!) the ribbing for her sweaters. Which is a drag if you don't knit, yes?
Great photos.......2004-02-27
The pictures are truly beautiful. I think that some of the designs are for people who like to punish themselves - the colour changes are brutal. But all in all, I like it. Comes with the usual how to directions at the front.
Good book for ideas.......2002-12-23
This isn't the perfect crochet book as there are items that instruct you to add knitting to (ribbing on sweaters) - but if you figured out the pattern of the sweater, I have faith you'll certainly be able to crochet a rib stitch (hint - it's easy - single crochet in the back first row, the front the second row, attach using a slip stitch to the article you're attaching it to).
But this book is more for inspiration - the colors and photographs are lovely, it shows you more about crochet and how it can be manipulated than most crochet books. Crochetrs complain kniiters get all the good patterns and while that may seem true, it isn't in this book. You have to have the necessary perserverance to see the item come to fruition and it's not easy to do that. Even if you don't follow the patterns exactly or just use the book as a springboard for your own items, you'll really see the use of it.
But if you see it thru, your rewards will be great - and when somebody asks, "Oh did you knit that?" you can say proudly "No, I _crocheted_it."
And when they say "Oh, can you make me one, too?" - well that's for you to decide.
Least favorite book in my pattern library.......2002-12-07
There are some interesting concepts and stitches in this book, but the sweaters are out-of-date and are not designed with the comfort of the wearer in mind. In addition, the patterns are difficult to follow. There is no information to help the reader alter the patterns in any way for a better fit. A very experienced crocheter would be able to manipulate these patterns into something lovely, perhaps, but otherwise don't disappoint yourself!
One of the best books I have.......2002-11-15
I try to buy anything that Nola Theiss puts out. She has the most wonderful sweater patterns to make up. Since I have crocheted from the age of 12 these were no problem to me to make up. Some of the designs were more detailed than others, but for an intermediate or expert crocheter, these will be no problem at all to master. When you get through with them, you will have a wardrobe that will rival Saks sweater department. I would buy it again!
Customer Reviews:
One of the best FBorFW Collection.......2004-03-14
I've always read FBorFW in the newspaper, but didn't quite get into the spirit of the collections till a couple years earlier. I'm glad I got absorbed into it. While I love the other comic strips out there, I like the ones where the character age with time. FBorFW is definitely that kind of strips.
It was really an joy to see all the character develop over time. The Patterson family really portray a "normal" family. While I adore them, with the exception of April in some cases, I really wished Lynn would make a separate collection for the supporting characters. Especially Lawrence, Gordon, Brian, and Weed. I really like this collection especially because of Lawrence.
Lawrence, one of Michael's best friend, is revealed to be something no one would have guessed. It indeed is controversial, but the way Lynn wrote it, it had sincerity and sympathy in the whole story. I read about some trouble she went through doing this strip, but in the end I think it is one of her best strips out there, along with Farley's death, and Michael and Deanna's reunion.
I mainly like the strip because of the Lawrence story. To me... this is the turning point for Michael and his crew. The milestone where everything finally comes to place. That's why this is probably my favourite collection for FBorFW.
Wonderful!.......2001-07-03
This book was one of my favorites. It came full of surprises, and belly-aching laughs. One of my fave issues in this book was when Liz tries smoking. It was a very realistic issue which I felt many could actually relate to. I definitely recommend this book to whoever wants laughs and a couple of sympathetic tears.
One of Johnstons best collections........2001-05-06
Not only did this book hold the expected humor and comedy, but also one of Johnstons most controversial stories. Lawrence reveals something about himself that no one would have guessed. A powerful series which took my breath away. This characteristically serious-with-tinges-of-humor strip is the best in it's league. It will truly go down as a classic.
Any Parent Can Relate To This One.......2000-03-27
This book helped my husband & I find some humor during this rough time in a teenagers (parents?) life.
Customer Reviews:
HITS THE BULLSEYE - THIS GUY KNOWS HOW WOMEN THINK..........2007-01-15
... and anyone who reads my reviews knows that I rarely ever grant 5 stars, but here it is - an oftentimes hilarious book that every guy prowling the singles scene needs to read.
Classic.......2006-09-20
I doubt I would actually try such outrageous tactics, but even so, I don't regret reading it for the humor. The writing is excellent and the author comes across as very intelligent and has a great, very dry sense of humor. It's honestly refreshing, but I wouldn't reccomend actually following its advice.
This is HUMOR. Do NOT try this at home........2005-12-10
I read this book because I'm an admirer of Machiavelli, but Uncle Nick would have banged his head against the wall if he'd known his name was on something like this. I wondered if it was going to be a book with actual honest if ruthless information about romantic relationships, similar to "The Art of Seduction" or "The Technique of the Love Affair".
Instead it's a tonge-in-cheek manual that might as well have been titled, "How to Annoy Women". Tactics recommended for getting your girlfriend's roommate to sleep with you include telling her that people have been saying she's a Lesbian, therefore she should sleep with you to prove she isn't. Other strategies for ingratiating yourself with women in general: tell her that she's growing a mustache, or openly ogle other women while you're with her.
I would be very surprised if the author of this book meant any of this to be taken seriously, because all these things will do is annoy the hell out of any woman you try it on. Unfortunately, some of the other reviews suggest that some poor guys are so irredeemably clueless that they think this book was serious. Listen, guys, you'll have way more success by buying a dozen roses and renting "Wuthering Heights".
Hilarious.......2004-09-29
The best comedy is rooted in truth. Nick Cassanova takes the basic "confidant male" strategy for picking up the ladies, and embellishes it to the nth degree, resulting in a laugh-out loud "manual" for scoring with the chicks. This is a very light read, but is quite enjoyable. The author plays it straight while offering uproarious methods to co-opt one's way into a stranger's (...)
Interesting, humorous, but you cant take it serious.......2004-08-20
I assure you I have a lot of fun reading this book. It's so humorous, and even sacrastic. However, the objective of it seems to help you get laid and thus full of short term tactics, with no long term strategies at all to win a lady's heart. Not much had been said on the manipulation of emotions like jealousy, gratitude and admiration, which had been stressed both in the beginning and ending of the book. Furthermore, there's very weak association of Machiavelli's teachings with those of the author.
In case you just want a leisure read, it's more than okay. If you wanna find a book that can help you to win somebody's love, go somewhere else.
p.s. Below please find a copy and paste of some points on pg 112/3 of the topic "answers to common excuses". I think they are quite representative of the book's general style.
F: I dont know you.
M: I dont know you very well, either. Do I let it bother me?
F: I'm having my period.
M: That's great! This is the one time of the month you dont need any protection.
F: I'm not in the mood.
M; Let me lick you for two minutes, then tell me you're not in the mood.
F: You're not just not my type.
M: Close your eyes and pretend it's someone else.
F: But it's our first date.
M: Dont think of it as our first date. Think of it as our last date.
F: We have such a beautiful friendship, I dont want to ruin it this way.
M: Are you kidding? This will make it deeper and more meaningful!
F: But I have a boyfriend.
M; Dont worry. I wasnt planning on telling him.
And the author even added, "There is almost no insurmountable excuse for withholding the booty."
