It is still one of the most important books on the argument.......1999-08-31
Written in 1848-9, this book contains some of the most important manuscripts on the arts, like the MANOSCRITTO BOLOGNESE, HERACLIUS BOOK, MANUSCRIPT OF JEHANN LE BEGUE, ecc.. Each manuscript is in its original language together with the english translation. The introduction by M.P.Merrifield is still very interesting.

Wonderful research.......2006-12-29
As a costume designer for theatre, I find this entire series an excellent source of specific research for 20th century real clothing. Because each book is dedicated to only three or four years in history, there is room for a wide variety of products, from lingerie to nursing uniforms to young men's "trendy" sportwear.

A book that puts the laugh in laughter!.......2003-12-11
The title says it all. This is the most hilarious book I`ve read so far! If there wasn`t a maximum of 5 stars I`d rate this comic more than that! One of my favorites is when Odie types. Then, the computer says, "Your order has been processed. Thank you." Then, Jon walks over and says, "www.dingleball.com?" This is DEFINITELY one of your better Garfield books! The sooner you get it, the sooner you`ll have the laughter of your life!
Date Coverage.......2003-04-07
Contains all the daily and Sunday strips April 9, 2000 through November 4, 2000.
The Best I've Read.......2003-01-08
I have loved Garfield since I started reading about him, and I'm always after the next one. If I was to say my favorite comic in this book, it would probably be the one where Jon says, "YAH" and Garfield says, "Paper cut", then Jon says, "YAAH", and Garfield says, "Envelope Cut", then Jon says, "YAAAAAAAAAAAH", or something, (I can't remember how many "A"'s in that "YAH"). Then Garfield says, "And that would be the stamp cut", and smiles. However, another favorite of mine in this book is when Jon gets a paper cut on his tongue and Garfield offers a potato chip. You know what happens then, Jon says, "NYAH GAH NYAH NYAH GAAAAH GAH GAH NYAH" (or something like that) because Garfield remembers how to make "Fun with salt". This is definitely a must-own for any Garfield lover.
20 years and still going strong!.......2002-01-04
This book is awesome, as usual. Jim Davis has come through with another excellent collection of Garfield comics, and the new, larger, color format is much more fun to read! Garfield and Odie's antics will keep you laughing from cover to cover. This book is a must read for any Garfield fanatic.
Garfield can never disappoint me.......2001-11-15
I have finally gotten used to this new format that Jim Davis started using with the previous Garfield book. As usual, Jim doesn't disappoint me with Garfield's antics. Poor Jon and Odie are Garfield's usual targets, and spiders too. I love the moments in the book when Garfield is busy squishing spiders. Those have become some of the funniest moments for Garfield. And I was laughing pretty hard when Jon hits his thumb with the hammer and he yells out "mommy!" and tries to retract that statement by saying "ouch!" but Garfield replies with "too late". Another favorite moment is when Garfield and Jon tries to outdo each other by eating the hottest peppers there are. Classic Garfield. And as usual, Jon has trouble getting a date or one that can fit through the doorway of his house. I may be 27 years old but I will never outgrow Garfield. This is one cool cat that should never change.

Book Description
Hot on the heels of the wildly successful The Hypochondriac’s Pocket Guide to Horrible Diseases You Probably Already Have comes The Paranoid’s Pocket Guide to Mental Disorders You Can Just Feel Coming On, Dennis DiClaudio’s hilarious look at fifty disturbingly familiar maladies you just know are buried deep in your psyche. This inspired new collection profiles the most nerve-wracking, harebrained, loopy, life-threatening and totally out-there mental disorders you could imagine—and some you could never imagine.
With complete descriptions of the symptoms, diagnosis, prognosis, prevention, and treatment for psychosis, this book could convince even the most rational readers that something—or someone—is out to get them. From the slightly odd
Stendhal Syndrome (the fear of artwork) to the mentally debilitating
Athazagagoraphobia (the feeling that you’ve forgotten something important) and the downright bizarre
Windigo Psychosis (the belief that you are a wild and ravenous monster), The Paranoid’s Pocket Guide to Mental Illnesses You Can Just Feel Coming On is a fascinating compendium of psychological illnesses for all of us to fret and agonize over.
Customer Reviews:
entertaining and educational.......2007-04-23
I didn't read this cover to cover, but thought it was pretty entertaining and also educational. I think it would be a fun informal supplement to an abnormal psych class. The descriptions are vivid and funny, and that makes it easy to remember them. Instead of an abstract, stark, clinical description of symptoms, you get the "gist" of the disorder.
good book but not for 10 dollars.......2007-04-12
this book is fun reading, the fact that it is not written by an MD makes it lacking, if it goes on sale for 5 bucks take it, otherwise hold off.
Five stars.......2007-03-25
This is an excellent addition to the DiClaudio's "Hypochondriac's Guide..." This book is significantly larger than its predecessor (at least three times longer!), yet maintains that same biting sense of medical humor without. A warning - if you're like me, you'll find at least three or four mental disorders in this book that you very well could have. Of course, it's always good to have a reason to give for your erratic behavior. If you could handle the grossness of the previous book, you'll probably be mostly unswayed by the unnerving disorders in this one. Use this book to diagnose all your friends! :)

Eccentrically organized, Cameron Tuttle's The Paranoid's Pocket Guide is a cautionary guidebook to take you into the millennium or, at the very least, put your worst fears in perspective. "Fright Bites!" ("In 1996, the Centers for Disease Control reported that it does not have a large enough budget to research all of the emerging pathogens") burst in on thematically arranged sections such as "Militias," "At Home," "Hypochondriac's Alert," and "At The Gym." Do you know that "every year, close to 200 exercisers fall victim to metal seat posts when the seats on their stationary bikes collapse?" More pointedly, do you need to? Lightning, in Tuttle's total scheme, glitters through the book as a significant leitmotif. It's entertaining, but probably not the best book to read on a long airplane ride.
Book Description
Are you worried sick? If not, maybe you should be. Because a pair of drawstring sweatpants could bring about your most embarrassing moment. And a toothpick in your sandwich can be the deadliest of weapons. Including hundreds of bizarre-but-true things that can get you, this compact volume will induce nervous page flipping and make even the most snug and secure folks bonafide paranoiacs. Chilling black and white photographs document the everyday items that menace your safety. But whether it's archibutyrophobia (the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth) or phobophobia (the fear of fear itself) that eventually gets you, don't be afraid to buy this book. You never know what might happen to you if you don't.

Random Facts.......2007-01-03
This is one of my all time favorite books, its small and filled with all kinds of random trivia and factoids that are delightful to share. The only thing I didnt like about the book is that it ended. I loved the book and everyone whos borrowed it from me or read it off my coffee table has absolutely loved it. You will too!
Great Little Book.......2006-01-17
I am a reading teacher at the middle school level. This has been a hit with many of my students, whom I have been reading it aloud to. Even those students who profess to hate reading love this book, and beg me to allow them to read it by themselves. Hats off to Cameron Tuttle for a great read!!
DANGER CAN BE FUNNY.......2005-03-22
This book would be good source material for commedy script writers...and humans who believe forwarned is forarmed. You wil be very well armed with this little quick read.It is hard to put down .It is hard not to laugh loud and long.It is hard to chance ever leaving your bedroom again.
Hilarious, but spooky. Genius........2003-07-19
This book sits in a conspicuous semi-hidden drawer in my living room coffee table. I'm always hoping someone will open the drawer and start reading it... I think they would become completely engrossed, but would also start looking out the corner of their eyes for what might get them! Some of MY friends might break out in a cold sweat, throw down the book and go running out the door!
The pages of the book are multi-dimensional... it is designed to "trip you out." The little factoids come in fonts of multiple sizes, which is not really similar to ransom notes clipped from newspapers but elicits the same type of feeling. One of the best things about the book are the photos... even everyday objects like sponges and treadmills are made to look like fearsome devices of evil... and the captions to the pictures help. Offset well below the image as if to stand it's distance, the caption speaks out as if to whisper the name of the object in the simplest possible way: [ A SPONGE ]. Heh.
There is also what appears to be the ramblings of a hyper-paranoid person scrawled along the bottom of the pages. You have to read the book twice... once to follow that rambling from cover to cover, and once to read all the factoids. But when you are reading the factoids, you sometimes get a glimpse of the rambling. The oddness of it adds to the whole creepiness of the book.
The atmosphere of the book is similar in some respects to what a crazed private-eye type, or government agent type, would write.
If you want to see something really scary..........2003-07-08
The Paranoid's Pocket Guide is a quick and easy read, and Tuttle should be congratulated for both her in-depth research into matters of trivial paranoia and her clever presentation of same. Besides the straightforward presentation of factual statements, generally one to four on a page, Tuttle has a stream-of-consciousness list of basic paranoid fears running in a continuous line along the bottom of every page.
Tuttle's Guide is more about clever presentation than it is about clever writing, but she gets full marks for creating an interesting book which is both informative and fun. And terrifying. I dare you to read it without suffering at least a few jarring re-evaluations of the world around you.
