Book Description

Dick Falkner's childhood consisted of poverty and abuse from an alcoholic father. Recognizing his life for what it was, he ran away from his home, but he could not run away from all of his problems.

Sixteen years later he found himself hungry of body and empty of spirit in a small Midwestern town. He was determined to make something of himself and to not be controlled by alcohol.

Initially, he finds no help in this so-called Christian town. Eventually, he is taken in by George Udell, a local publisher and a kind-hearted man. George Udell gives the young man a job, and something more important: spiritual support. Through hard work and Christian morals, the man who becomes known as "that printer of Udell's" rises above his past to a new life with God, inspiring those around him along the way.

This book is also about bringing a message to our thoughts. It is about caring for others less fortunate than yourself and helping them to better themselves. Our president Ronald Regan agreed with its message, and tried to give it others. The printer hires a man that no one in the town will hire because he is so unkept. He comes to find that the man, Dick, is honest and hard working. A worthy person in disguise, and together they get involved in a group of people who wish to reach out to poor wanderers. 4 out of 5 stars Human nature hasn't changed much since 1902 .......2005-08-16

In reading a biography of Ronald Reagan, I learned that when eleven year old Reagan finished reading this book he went to his mother and said, "I want to be like that man." Intrigued, I wanted to find out what "that man" was like. So, when I read this story I did so with an eye toward understanding Reagan and the development of his character. I was immediately struck by the similarities between Reagan and the book's hero, Dick Falkner. Both were raised in poverty, both had alcoholic fathers, both were straight shooters, and both seem to have had an abiding faith in their fellow man. I found the book's colorful language quite charming, its character development excellent, and the problems and concerns presented very true to life. As I read along I could almost sense young Reagan's character taking form. I was particularly struck by the fact that the problems of 1902 in Boyd City are in large measure today's problems---human nature seems to have changed very little over the years. My only complaint about the book is that the broad sweep evident in the early part of the story seemed to narrow in the latter pages, resulting in a somewhat quick and surprising ending based on several poorly explained coincidences. All in all, I greatly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone with a love for our 40th President or a desire to better understand him, as well as those who simply like a good story.

I found my copy of this book at a flea market ..., and I figured I couldn't go wrong [the] price [I paid]. ... I have given the book three stars simply because its Christian theme and style of writing was new to me, and as a result it did keep me occupied and involved until the end. ... The author has built the story and its resolution upon amazing coincidences after conincidences. Maybe the reader can swallow one of them, two at the most, but this is an unending chain. As this is a Christian book, possibly the reader of the era in which it was written -- the turn of the 20th Century -- would look upon the happenings as God's will, but I found it totally unbelievable. I'm glad I read the book, because it is most unusual and foreign to today's modern literature, but I don't believe I would want to read another of Wright's books. Maybe if I was living at the turn of the century with that trusting mindset, he would become a favorite author. But, today the book is just a curiosity piece.

Another salutary story showing how Harold Bell Wright earned the sobriquet of "Storyteller to America." I did not know but am not surprised by the previous reviewer's observation that Ronald Reagan read this work as a boy and was profoundly touched by it. There is something so American about Mr. Wright's works and this upright, exciting tale is no exception. Fleshed out characters populate a fast-paced allegory where true Christianity is venerated while those who are Christian in name only are seen to be lacking.

This release was one of Mr. Wright's first -if not his actual debut novel, and it made a promise that his prolific career kept.

5 out of 5 stars Essential to understanding Ronald Reagan.......2000-08-07

Any political junkie or political scientist who wants to understand Ronald Reagan the man and the politician must start with this book. Young Reagan read it when he was 11 years old and promptly decided that he wanted to become an evangelical Christian, informing his Mother that he wanted to be baptized. Reagan obviously identified with the protagonist of this story who like Reagan was the son of an alcoholic father who through the power of faith became a better man and works to change his community through his church. The book concludes with his marching off to Washington to assume a political career. Sound familiar?

Don't miss this book!

4 out of 5 stars Good Wright Book.......1999-12-26

Another story by Christian writer Harold Bell Wright set in the state of Missouri at the turn of the century. The story is set in the city of Boyd, a bustling center. A homeless man, Dick Falkner, arrives in town in search of work and food. He wants to work but has had a string of hard times hit upon him. He finds work at Udell's print shop, after many rejections by the supposed "Christian" folk of the town. He is found to be a competent worker and is honest and of strong character. He becomes involved with a church in the town, who pastor wants to create a YMCA of sorts of homeless people. This is not taken well by the other preachers nor some of the members of the church. However, the pastor does create a YMCA with the help of the young people of his church. Falkner's reputation grows and he eventually joins the church and participates in the formation of the group. It is the first church he has ever joined because he has viewed Christians as those who go to church, look holy, and then leave unchanged and impassive to the world's poor. During the course of the story he gets involved with a rich man's daughter and they have an on again - off again relationship (due to societal circumstances and her father's rejection of their friendship). This story is billed as one on Practical Christianity. Wright wrote many Christian novels that are part romance, part western, and part literature. This one was syrupy at times and I felt that the organizing of the YMCA-like organization was lost in the development of Dick Falkner's relationship with Amy Goodrich. There are also many others characters that make this story colorful and interesting. However, it was a bit like the other Wright book, The Calling of Dan Matthews, so the ideas were a bit redundant. However, the crux of the book is that being a Christian is more than going to church once a week, but following and implementing the teachings of Christ.

                    4 out of 5 stars Dragonne's Eg.......2003-07-17

I found this book to be quite enjoyable. I picked this book up out in the bush of Alaska where I was working at the time and needed something to keep my mind occupied. I found this book quite enjoyable. I aggree with the other reviewers that the beginning was quite well thought out but the ending a bit rushed. I wanted to know what happened to the human twin and also curious as to whom she looks like. I hope that there will be a next book to see what happens to her. I am hoping that Toby will be involved, I became rather attatched to the young man and hope that he will be able to overcome his poverty and become an "xplorer" Dragonnes Eg was my first introduction to the series and I look forward to reading the others.

                    5 out of 5 stars Pure Genius!.......2001-08-18

What can I say about this book (and the two previous) other than, "My God! This is pure genius!"

I, personally, had never heard of this author until I stumbled across her book entitled "Unexpected Dragon"...the accumulated three stories "Pigs Don't Fly", "Master of Many Treasures", and "Dragonne's Eg". Having read all three books from first cover to last was a long and arduous journey, but none-the-less well worth it. I admit that at times it was a trial to have to read about the petty actions of the characters...but I assure you that without her acknowledgement of those actions the story would be broken and jagged. She had the genius idea to put an extremely dramatic and eye-catching opening line in the first book...I admit that I laughed many times reading that line. I had never before read something so bold as the first sentence to began an epic journey. The only thing that confused me was the fact that I didn't realize the true proportions and weight of the heroine until the story had progressed deeply...I had assumed she was smaller and, well, skinnier. As the story went on I found the romance of Summerdai and her knight to be very sweet...and then dissappointed at the unexpected twist that took. I believe the author could have made more of an effort to make sure the reader understood that Jasper and Summerdai had a "romantic encounter" at the circle of stones. In her second book I think there should have been a resolution between Mr. Spicer and Summer. I found Summer's actions to be a teensy bit rude toward him. I felt sorry for the poor man. In the second book we are introduced to new characters that I feel should have stayed longer...their part in the story was incredibly short, but that is how life is sometimes! I, personally, was very annoyed with Ricardus...his bull-headedness was vexing. I also felt that there were way too many thefts of Summer's supplies and money...those experiences were becoming monotonous, but not to the point that they were expected and predictable. The second book ended on a very unemotional note, and leaves the reader wondering. Her series could have ended there, but this, the third book, opens the story yet again. I truly believe that Sophie is somehow connected to Summer, perhaps through her father, or her uncle. I am perplexed at the (what appears to be) pointless action of Ms. Lee's employer...was she attracted to women? Is that why she did what she did? In otherwords, I think the story could have done without its mention. In the third book there was a lacking of the characters' development...I feel Danny, young Toby (is that his name?), and the third young man (I forget his name) could have done with more insight into their personalities. The re-introduction of Ky-Lin into the story was a bit questionable...one reviewer said he was "annoying"...I disagree with that word, but he was a bit out of place. This book ended openly...it leaves room for a continuation to find out what happens to the dragon/human twins and the role that Ky-Lin plays in the humans safekeeping...the comment of how the child looks like 'her' is perplexing to me...which 'her' is he speaking of? Summerdai or Sophrinisbe?

All in all these books make for a fun and interesting read. I enjoyed how the story read quite like a journal...much like Summer's own "Boke". I would also like to note that the ending to this book is quick and rushed...I feel like the author didn't put a lot of time into its conclusion...there was no exploration of what the characters were doing after their adventure...just some basic information.

I loved all three books...I could not put down that huge single book, "Unexpected Dragon". The world that was woven was so immense that I would have wanted to jump into the story to meet the beautiful Summerdai! It is now one of my 'all-time' favorites!!!

Hello! I read this book when it came out in 1999. I've read some of the other reviews and while I share some of the same opinions regarding character development, I have different feelings regarding the book. I'm not one who follows the SF&F genre, generally preferring period romances, or true historical novels. That being said, I am an admirer of Mary Brown and will read anything she writes........even if it is directions to boil water!

When I received this book, I eagerly dove into it. It started out okay, the female lead character was nicely developed. However, every other character was flat. I wondered whether they were really travelling along with the female lead at times! To see an example of how well Ms.Brown can develop on characters, refer to The Unlikely Ones, Strange Deliverence, or Playing the Jack.

As usual, Ms.Brown was extremely good with the plot, and descriptions of the adventures. This kept me going, until the end.....and what I consider the best part, the epilogue! It was written with such excitement and enthusiasm that I finished with my heart pounding! The book is worth the journey to the epilogue, readers! And that epilogue is written in true Ms. Brown style - a blast of fresh air!

2 out of 5 stars was excited about getting it..disappionted when i read it.......2000-10-25

since master of many treasures left me unsure of what had REALLY happened to the heroine i was hoping some of that would be reveiled. i agree with the others that the characters werent well developed (i really only read this book to see what happened to the egg.) i was happy when Ky-Lin was reintroduced cause it was a familiar character like summer and growch were. and cried at the very end because of what happened to the dog :( (im lame arent i) but anyways the book was okay enough just didnt like that she didnt have a direct link to the egg she just happened to be someone who was related to the person that bought it off an auction and was marveling at it.. i wanted someone more caring of the egg or more related to it..book really disappointed me...maybe there will be a next one with ky-lin and the twin hatchling hopefully

                    4 out of 5 stars A Sweet Story.......2000-08-30

I found this story of a poverty-stricken school-teacher and her quest to fulfill the terms of a inheritance to be charming and effective, and fun to read, but it does have some flaws. The pacing is uneven, and although I enjoyed the lengthy beginning, it speeds up considerably after that; I would have liked the journey more detailed in places, and not all the characters are well-developed. Still, it's an effortless read, rather like a gothic romance, and if you like the lighter fantasies, give it a try.

My husband is into fantasy reading, I'm not. However, I picked his new book one night to read (this one) & couldn't put it down! Three related, wonderful stories about female heroines & mystical creatures/magic. Couldn't put the book down, wanted to know what was going to happen next! Thoroughly enjoyed all three adventure stories!

5 out of 5 stars A book doesn't need a perfect HAPPY ending to be great.......2006-06-28

I completly adore this book! it is my favorite and i have read it many times. The characters are easy to relate to. The ending of summers part in the story is sad yes BUT any book that can actualy make me cry is worth the read. And all is not lost, the characters do live on and do have a happy ending it just doesn't come right out and tell you "they skiped of into the sunset togeth holding hands Tra la la" It lets you pick up little hints to what happened and almost lets you chose the ending yourself without leting you feel empty..unless you fail to notice the small hints as to what happens. Oh and the book is about a yong girl who is the daughter of the town whore and as so hated, she choses to set out into the world with what little she has. This book has all the basics of a fantasy novel, referances to unicorns,A night in shining armour, Dragons, and evil forces with a delightful twist. With all the small plots within the overall polt the story never gets boring and it is dificult to pull your nose out of it, Just what i look for in a book! I hate books that only fallow the main plot and end to soon...but do not worry the book will not confuse you between stories, the main focus is alwasy present and clear.

I really hope this review helped! So do yourself a favor and pick up this wonderful book!

                    1 out of 5 stars Such a disappointment!!!.......2006-04-03

I read this book as the full trilogy "The Unexpected Dragon" After "Pigs don't fly" it all went downhill from there. Don't get used to the character's in the story as they won't last for very long accept for her beloved dog poor old Growch who also was shamefully given and anti-climactic ending after all he endured. I actually burst into tears at the ending out of the utter dissapointment and was half inclined to fling the book across the room and half enclined to toss it in the fireplace!! The heroes finally reach there destination thousands of miles and numerous near death instances and are crossing the threshold of their rewards for all they had been through and at the height of their happiness are burned to death because some idiot the heroine was too dumb to let die or get rid of finishes them off!!! the killer then lives a long life and dies saying ha! I got them! The beloved main characters and their love are gone (this is not the ending it gets worse) It does not tell you what happens to the dragon black Jasper and after being introduced to a whole new set of characters in the end which the author expects you to get attached to it still leaves the ending open and left me with the disgusting sense of being cheated and an idiot for investing my time and emotion into reading the whole 852 pages of it! If you want to end up feeling sadness, hurt, betrayal and dissapointment this book is for you. I wish I could tell the author what I really felt about this book with all it's pompous acknowledgments! She should have spent more time around people willing to tell her the truth about her book- IT WAS AWEFUL!!! My only solace was writting this review to spare others the sadness, don't judge this book by it's beautiful cover!

I'm still reading this book but am enjoying it greatly! The characters are wonderful and I think that the main character is realistic....she feels she is fat and ugly (admit it...we all think that some times) so far this is what I've read....
Sumerdai's mother is the village whore. When Summer;s mother dies she is thrown out into the world seeking a husband. Unwittingly she puts on her fathers ring (wich she later finds out is made from the horn of a unicorn and gives her the ability to talk to animals) Summer rescues a blind knight that has lost his memory, a shabby dog that is very...well you'll see for yourself..., a horse that is a princess in her land, a turtle, a bird, a so called "flying pig"...and thats about as far as I have gotten...anyways even though I have not fully read the book (I probably shouldn't be making this reveiew at this time but since no one else has....) I still think that people will enjoy it!!

5 out of 5 stars A GORE FEST GOOD TIME!.......2005-12-16

Disgusting, tasteless, repugnant..."Satan's 3 Ring Circus of Hell" is all of this. It's also pretty damn funny and a riot to read. The book is the brainchild of writer Robert Steven Rhine and a whole host of talented artists such as Tim Vigil, Steven Bisette, Frank Dietz, Hilary Barta, Jeff Gaither, and many more. This is a collection of horror and horrific stories and one page illustrations. At first glance one may think they are inspired by old Warren Mags like Creepy, but the level of gore hints at perhaps being inspired more by Eerie Publications magazines like Horror Tales and Tales from the Tomb, not to mention modern day splatter films.

Right out of the chute the book pounds the reader with morbid ferocity and oodles of slimy, sticky gore, but often infused with a dark sense of humor. "Separation Anxiety" with art by Frank Forte tells the story of the freak show sisters of Satan, a pair of conjoined twins, one a beautiful woman, the other a small, goblin-like beast. Their affair with the tattooed man goes awry when he wants to separate the pair.

"Bone Soup" was a favorite of mine with gorgeous art by Joe Vigil. Set sometime in old Eastern Europe during a great famine, a mysterious visitor to an inn decides to cook up bone soup. But he needs to acquire all the ingredients first: Bones, tongue, liver, heart...

A truly ghastly story of revenge is "The Roast" as hundreds of victims of botched cosmetic surgeries get their just revenge on the doctor who disfigured them, turning this tribute into a true roast!

"The Haunted Hood" is an outrageous story of the Braddock Downs Housing Projects filled with Hos, pushers, pimps, gangstas...and things much worse. It's a wonderful slapstick horror farce. "Fungus Among Us" with art by Nenad Gucunja is another favorite about a little boy who is unwilling to part with his foul, odorous sneakers that he used to score the winning goal in a soccer championship game. His mother learns the hard way that she should never throw her son's stuff out!

In addition to the stories there are some hysterical parodies of old comic book ads such as for the box of mini-plastic soldiers, Sea Monkeys, etc, and there's even a little bit of anti-Bush humor tossed in for good measure.

It's a wildly ghoulish ride from beginning to end and I highly recommend it for horror fans.

R.S. Rhine's disturbing, yet compelling, "Satan's 3-Ring Circus of Hell" would not let me sleep! After I received my copy, I spent the entire night reading and re-reading it. Rhine's choice to keep to smaller vignette's, each illustrated by a different artist, jolted me with each turned page into having to read the entire story. It's just the right mixture of gore and humor. There is certainly something for everyone here, too -- from "over the top" gorehounds, to those of more refined horror tastes -- this is a great piece to add to your collection of horror, comics and/or art. Buy two - one to read, and one to keep. Then more to give to friends as gifts.

                          5 out of 5 stars a cerebral feast.......2005-09-01

i cannot begin to praise this horror in any way that will do it justice. there isn't anyone who can grab my attention with pure disgust and still make me laugh. until now. i happened to meet robert rhine, and can i say, i'm pretty sure i met the embodiment of gore and terror (yet friendly). the writing has no words to describe the wicked sickness it achieves, and the comic team behind him is flawless, yet disturbing (in a good way). the stories are amazing (i love hell's bells, eat me, and the symposium), yet i find myself a little partial to the single page concept art (sideshow surgury, and night of the living freaks). i believe Alan Katz said it right: "higher praise does not exist." i am extremely happy with this find. now, i have a piece of his mind. (come and get it mr. rhine, hahaha) i know whoever dares, will enjoy it as much as i do.

I discovered your website whilst doin a little search for girls and this , and girls and that, and that is how I found: girls and corpes.com---and in so doing your book: Satan's 3-Ring Circus of Hell.

"Satan's 3-Ring Circus of Hell"... I have to tell you folks, that it's made a fun read as I sit by the pool with my cigars and Gin & Tonic.

One story in particular "The Party Clown"... very cool. Also I dug : "Separation Anxiety" and "Fast Acting Xylotryptomine". All in all, it's a great summer book. I always loved comics anyway, and my favorites when I was a kid were always the Horror comics.. I never liked the Superman or Batman stuff. I did however love Mad Magazine.

Cudos to Mr Rhine for putting this all together. Additionally, there are some very funny full page spoofs on the advertisments in comics from the 1960s.

                          4 out of 5 stars Gorey Stories.......2005-07-26

In the wrong hands, gore is just nasty. In the right hands, it's *really* nasty. These stories are funny and so far over the top that I got a nosebleed. It's weird to laugh out loud as you're looking at images of intestine baloon animals, but I did. Rather than analyze what that says about me, I'm going to assume that my reaction was normal and that you'll feel the same way. Enjoy!

                          Product Description

Hell Behind Prison Walls is a true story about John Pecchio's twenty-five years of experience as a shoemaker and Vocational Instructor in one of the more dangerous all-male, maximum-security prisons in New York State, the Elmira Correctional Facility and Reception Center. Prisons have lost their ability to rehabilitate prisoners. Pecchio views prisons as small towns that are isolated from civilization and filled with murderers, rapists, drug pushers and the mentally unstable. They are power-seeking individuals who operate on fear, greed, ignorance, and manipulation. Prisoners' rights have currently taken precedence over all else. Administrators spend more time fearing punishment from their superiors than they do keeping their prisons secure. In doing so, they have contributed to lowering the morale and safety of prison employees to the lowest point in history. Lawmakers who pass humanitarian laws protecting prisoners' rights without knowing the impact of them have created a wave of pressure and danger within the prison system.

John is a local celebrity up here in Bradford County . His books show
the reality of what is going on the prisons up here. I think that
our legislator should have him testify on this subject.
The gap between those who can function in society and can not is widening.
Things that were no big deal 10 years ago can land you in jail today.
Perhaps he will do a book signing at the Towanda Library and the Bradford county library.

This is a great book. I use it all the time. It my "Bible" on sausage or other meats.

This is a long and detailed book. I picked it up with another volume (Kobler's "Making Great Sausage") an thought Aidells' book was the less useful of the two.

I have used this cookbook now for six months or so. The book looks very nice and has some good pointers on grinding, making and stuffing sausage. I have tried a number of the fresh sausage recipes (mostly pork). The breakfast sausage recipe is really pretty good, although probably too hot for your average breakfast palatte (and I like hot food, works great for gravy though). A number of the other sausage recipes seem very bland (especially the Italian recipes, both sweet and hot). I was actually pretty amazed by this in that Aidell's is a premium brand of sausage.

`Bruce Aidells' Complete Sausage Book' by meat and sausage experts Aidells and Denis Kelly is the third book by Aidells I have reviewed and it easily maintains the consistently high quality I have come to expect from this writing team on the subject of meat. Along with the team of Schlesinger and Willoughby, they seem to be the reigning kings among culinary writers on the subject of meat, more especially on the subject of pork and sausage.

For starters, I strongly recommend this book for all people interested in reading about food and in cooking, even if you have no interest in making sausage yourself. In many ways, it is as good as the recently published book `Charcuterie' by the team of culinary journalist Michael Ruhlman and charcuterie expert and chef, Brian Poleyn, if only because Aidells and Kelly are better at staying focused on their primary topic. `Charcuterie' is very good, but if what you really want to know about is sausage, Aidells and Kelly are much better.

One thing these two books do for me is to completely reassess my opinion of Emeril Lagasse and his `Pork Fat Rules' mantra. It is so easy to take this as bluster, yet both books in one voice say that pork fat is the cream of the crop when it comes to animal fats. Beef suet is too grainy and chicken fat melts at too low a temperature to be useful for a lot of cooking applications for which pork fat is so good.

It is important to note that while this book does touch on the subjects of smoked and cured sausages, its primary subject by far is fresh sausage that you can make at home. Next to the affirmation of pork fat, I was most pleasantly surprised by the great variety of fresh sausage recipes and in the antiquity of so many of these varieties. It is easy to believe that hot and sweet Italian sausage and German bratwurst and Spanish chorizo and Polish Kielbasa have been around a long time and it is not unexpected to find that the Cajun specialties boudin and andouille are pretty old. However, it is surprising to find that ingredients such as apples and dried tomatoes are not modern foodie concoctions, but easily as old as fennel and garlic as sausage ingredients.

Another major epiphany I take from this book is the fact that along with pasta, canned tomatoes, olive oil, onions, garlic, parsley, anchovies, eggs, flour, milk and capers, sausage is one of the most versatile items one can have on hand in your pantry, as it can be used as a flavorful addition to a really wide variety of dishes. The only caveat is that fresh sausage must be frozen in order to keep it safe and it's frozen shelf life may not be much more than two months. Even so, this book will give you more than enough good ideas for using that sausage to keep you from forgetting about the stash of charcuterie goodness.

The book is divided up by three major topics. The first and shortest is on basic fresh sausage making techniques and the methods for hot and cold smoking fresh sausage. Even if you never use these techniques, the interested foodie should really know how these techniques work and what they do, so you are in a better position to make the best use of products of these two techniques. My biggest criticism with this book comes in this section which would have been much better done with a few good diagrams of various types of smoking devices. Most of this material would have been harder for me to appreciate had I not seen Alton Brown's popular `Good Eats' parody of `Iron Chef' where he cold smokes bacon with one of his typically McGyveresque contraptions.

The authors make simple sausage making sound easy, and with the right precautions, it really is. All you really need to convince yourself of this fact is to realize it is not much more than making meatloaf. The main concerns come with the care and sanitation involved in grinding the meat, as a dirty meat grinder is an open invitation to unwanted microbial beasties. And, while the book supplies sources for sausage making tools, I suggest you do the Martha Stewart routine of searching out tag sales for solid metal meat grinders you can probably get for a song.

The second major section covers recipes for making a wide variety of sausages. The chapters within this part cover:

                                        American Sausages:
American Farmhouse Sausage with 10 recipes, including smoked sausage and chicken and apple sausage.
Southern Sausages with 9 recipes, including Boudin, Andouille, Chaurice, Tasso, and Pickled Pork.
Midwestern Sausages with 14 recipes influenced by Germany, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe.
Southwestern Sausages with 6 recipes influenced by Spain, including chorizo and poultry sausage.
Mediterranean Sausages with 13 recipes including Italian, Spanish, and Greek sausages.
Asian Style Sausages with 5 recipes including mushrooms, chicken, and shrimp.
Game and Seafood sausages with 12 recipes including salmon, duck, crawfish, buffalo, and venison.

The third major section (Part II) covers recipes for using sausage in dishes. Recipes are organized in ten (10) chapters on:

                                        Breakfast All Day
                                        Sausage Starters: Appetizers and Salads
                                        Sausage Based Soups
                                        Sausage Sandwiches and Pizzas
                                        Lotta Pasta (and Sausage)
                                        Better Beans and Grains
                                        Sausage with Fish and Seafood
Cacklers and Gobblers: Poultry and Sausages
                                        Red Meat and Sausage
                                        Sausage Spiked Side Dishes

This is more than enough evidence to convince me to have sausage on hand on a regular basis. And, one piece of very good news is the fact that nitrites in sausage are no longer considered a health risk and by making your own sausage, you can avoid almost all the unwanted chemicals put into commercial sausage.

This is a foodie `must have' book!

                                        5 out of 5 stars Good Eats.......2005-09-12

This book is both interesting to read and informative to those that desire to attempt to create good food rather than just but it. It is documented well with creatively laid out recipes and has a page in the back listing mail-order sources for herbs and spices as well as sources for sausages and specialty meats.
It is worth the price as a resource guide and a good read for food lovers.
