Excellent childrens book in the classic tradition. Robert Stanton is one of the best illustrators to ever come out of Disney! Inspiring stuff.

What a captivating book! My whole family loves it. Here is a charming, inspiring story with exquisite illustrations. The Adventures of Lady: The Big Storm is a real winner. It is a book that you will thoroughly enjoy sharing with your child. I am recommending it to everyone.
Absolutely charming story.......2007-02-06
A must have book for your family. This is a beautifully illustrated book with the heart-warming story of a real life squirrel (Lady) who was separated from her squirrel family during a Florida hurricane. Rescued by a kind-hearted person and then raised with another squirrel, Lady was then returned to the wild. This is her story and it is a wonderful read for any member of your family.

From shameless to daring, smart to dowdy, hideous to amusing.......2002-03-14
Ms. Brannon is a professor, and this is a textbook. A supurb textbook that unravels, analizes, graphs, charts, and narrates the dynamics of consumer choice in light, effortless prose. It is an epic study that brings aboard the great cast of characters who have devoted their lives to staying a jump ahead of us. (The bibliography is 16 pages long!) Whom do they watch? How does a forecaster know when an innovation has good "legs"? Is it in tune with the times, or a counter current? All this and more is told as Ms. Brannon peels the onion that is fashion.
Did you ever wonder how Tommy Hilfiger connected with his market? The story is here.
For me, this was a great read, like say, "The New Yorker." And I am not even in the biz.

Customer Reviews:
Ranma vs. Herb.......2007-03-20
I am a 15 year old that likes manga. In the start of this volume, Mousse is trying to get a data from Shampoo but is attacked by a child that looks like a wolf(Mint) and pins him to a wall with Wolf Metor fang bullet. Akane is walking home and is attcked by a man who looks like a tiger(Lime)Ryoga walks by and hits Lime for being a prevert. Lime rams Ryoga's head into the ground and takes Akane with him. Lime meets up with Mint who is talking with Shampoo and go into the Cat Cafe and meet up with their master, Herb. Herb tosses Akane aside because they do not have time for trash, but Ranma catchs her. Ranma fights Herb but Shampoo's grandma tells not to. Herb easily takes down Ranma but with not first showing Hebs secret: He is a woman. Herb turns Ranma into his woman form, and splashes him with a speacil water. Later that night, Ranma finds out her can not trun back into a man. He then sets off, with Mousse and Ryoga, to find the Teapot, the only thing to change Ranma back to a man. Herb and Ranma fight their way to Treasure Mt. There they fight for the Teapot. This fight goes into volume 23.
On the quest.......2005-08-06
Okay, sure, "Ranma 1/2" is technically a comedy series. Rumiko Takahashi wrote the sprawling martial-arts romance with plenty of jokes, goofy characters and misunderstandings.
But in the 22nd volume of this series, Takahashi showed us the darker side of the Ranma story. There are plenty of funny moments, but it also has a very powerful and impressive opponent, some harrowing fight scenes, and what seems to be the death of a major character.
Ranma finds his rivals Ryoga and Mousse, both savagely beaten by a pair of animalistic warriors. Ranma arrives just in time to see their cloaked leader mistreat Akane -- and during the fight, the dragon-woman Herb splashes Ranma with water. Herb is from the ancient Musk Dynasty, a tribe that took on the attributes of animals. And the water is from the Pail of Preservation -- and it locks Ranma in his female form.
Ranma can regain his male form, but only if he gets the Water Pot of Liberation, which Herb is also searching for. So Ranma, Ryoga and Mousse (who want the pot for themselves) set out to defeat Herb and her bodyguards. But Herb is a more lethal opponent than Ranma has ever faced before -- and his own attacks don't work, especially when Herb's startling secret is revealed...
Takahashi's more recent works -- such as the Inuyasha series -- rely more heavily on action and fantasy than the Ranma series did. And so the Musk Dynasty story seems almost like a warmup for Takahashi's later work, with its emphasis on gritty action, understated romance and lethal villains. Herb even looks a bit like her later villain Sesshomaru.
Okay, there's still plenty of humour, such as the Musk warriors who are obsessed with women and breasts, or the way that Ryoga and Mousse keep distracting them ("Look at HER boobs!"). But the climax of the story is completely devoid of humour. Ranma is beaten to a pulp and almost decapitated, while Mousse and Ryoga battle the superhuman Lime and Mint and are nearly sealed in their pig and duck forms.
Takahashi's artwork had also matured by this time -- it's very detailed, more lifelike and intricate, and there is a new maturity to the tempestuous Ranma/Akane attraction ("I guess... even if I can't be a man... I have to go back for her sake"). She had also mastered the art of the cliffhanger, since Ryoga seems to be dead near the end of one chapter.
Ranma and Company deal with a new and frightening enemy in the 22nd volume of this series. Darker, edgier, but still often funny.
Herb, Lime, and Mint.......2004-09-24
out of all the manga i have read and that is a lot(yes i have read the one's in Japanese as well) this one would have to be my personal fav. a great read for anybody with a sense of humor.
Ryoga and Mousse, they lost their brains.......2003-09-29
This book was the best book i have read so far. (i have read 1,2,3,4,20,22) Ranma gets in a fight with Herb, the leader of the musk dynsty. In doing so Ranma gets defeated and also discovers Herb is a Girl. (Ranma defeated by a girl?) When Ranma gets splashed with cold water, Herb sees this and as punishment for Ranma's attack Herb splashes mystic water on him, locking him in his girl form. Now to undo this, Ranma must find a Mystic Pot that will reverse the effects. There is also a anthor mystery, Herb wants the pot also, and they don't know why when she could have got it years ago. Well Mousse and Ryoga help Ranma but in doing so Ryoga dies ( No i am not kidding, but i didn't say for how long)
A must-read for Ranma fans.......2003-05-22
This volume of Ranma 1/2 was well worth the wait. Although a little less comedy-based than some of the other, wackier novels, Volume 22 still produced a lot of laughs. Inside, three newcomers named Herb, Mint, and Lime (weird names, I know) take on Ranma, Mousse, and Ryoga (respectively). The only problem is that Herb, Mint, and Lime have some strange powers...nothing that even Ranma has seen before! And when Ranma gets splashed with some water that threatens to steal away his manhood forever, he, Ryoga, and Mousse have to follow the three intruders to Treasure Mountain, leading to a battle unmatched by anything we've seen before. Will Ranma win back his manhood? Or will he, for the first time, have to admit defeat?
In this volume, Ranma and Akane finally seem to let their guards down and stop fighting, and some very touching material (though not quite enough) comes out here. If you love Ranma 1/2, definitely get this volume!

And then theres Jeffs sister
Customer Reviews:
Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
A knight off to kill the Dragon, and sleep with his sister, or a knight off to sleep with his sister and kill the Dragon. The knight, however, is Officer Jeff Smax of the Neopolis police force. There are some secrets about his family and his past he does not want his co-workers to know about, and of course, his partner is pissed.
it's not Top Ten.......2007-01-28
i picked up Smax as a continuation of Top Ten. it does pick up from the end of volume two.
one of the great pleasures of Top Ten was all the visual humor in the backgrounds. perhaps it's that the fantasy setting of Smax's home is less rich, but the sight gags are flat and repetitive. i miss Gene Ha's touch here, and i don't feel the same desire to reread and take in all of the details.
the book pokes fun at high fantasy and is much more of a comedy than an adventure story. because it was a short run, the pace feels rushed. i was glad to know what happened next to Smax and Toybox, but i was disappointed in the development of the characters and failed to get emotionally involved.
recommended if you are a completist.
great moore work..........2006-12-30
jeff (jaafs) smax was first introduced in top 10, which this is an offshoot of. i didn't really care too much for top 10, maybe i just don't like the setting. but smax is great. it's funny and the story is very good. i'd recommend this to all comics and alan moore fans.
Marginal Moore, But You're Gonna Buy It..........2006-10-30
I'd say that this was only mildly amusing. It's definitely not Moore at his best. Something in the art and tone of the story, particularly it being set in a whimsical, alternate fantasy world, reminded me of the second series of Comico's The Elementals. It was generally light reading, despite themes of incest and a bit on rape. Speaking of which, I don't know what's up with Alan Moore's notions on sexuality these days.... I mean, Lost Girls... (read my review on that one for further expansion) Smax is skewed as well with its misguided dealings on incest, as we Smax having to return to his fantasy homeworld, where he eventually rekindles an incestuous relationship with his sister, only to bring her back to Neopolis with him, at the end of book, making her his "wife". What!? OK, despite the lukewarm review, you know you've got to buy it now to see what I'm talking about. I'm giving my copy to a friend and fellow Alan Moore fan, just so I can see the look on his face when he's like WTF!? as well.
Pretty good, not great.......2006-10-11
I have to say I liked Smax, but it wasn't great. I mean it was funny, had nice atmosphere and setting and overall everything was decent, but... Well, the plot seemed a little thin for all the build up. There's this whole big secret problem Smax has and then, well they walk around for a couple pages find the dragon, Robin thinks up a gimmick, and there you go. And the fact that the whole Smax and sister thing is solved so quickly, well. I guess I expected more from the fact that this was a mini-series and all. I'd say it's about as good as one of the side-stories in Top Ten, but not as good as the main plot arc in those books.

Kids love trucks? Try Benny the Breakdown Truck.......1999-12-07
This small collection of stories about a yellow wrecker truck and his pals is a HUGE hit with little boys who enjoy all things automotive. The illustrations are fun and colorful, the stories show some imagination and the names and locals are unforgettable (especially after you have been asked to read them hundreds of times). The stories in this collection are perhaps a wee bit more energetic than in the companion volume "Jack Tractor," but both are quite enjoyable.
Book Description
Alfie the sports car can't resist speeding, until he falls into the canal and has to be pulled out by Benny the Breakdown Truck. This is another book in the series about Benny the Breakdown Truck and his friends at Smallbills Garage.
Book Description
Benny the Breakdown Truck tries to stop his bumptious friend Francis parking in a puddle and getting mixed up with a burst water main, all with disastrous results. This picture book is particularly suitable for reading aloud.

Storytime favorite.......2003-11-15
This is the best book for preschool Storytime. Think cult westerns while reading out loud and even the grownups stop to listen. I have used this book in pig-themed, wild west-themed, hat-themed, and bully-themed storytime programs. It is one of my all time favorite books. A great read aloud.
teaches a lesson about bullies.......2000-04-06
In BIG PIG'S HAT, a gust of wind blows Big Pigs hat away. When he discovers that his hat is missing he assumes that someone has stolen it. All the citizens of Beansville USA are scared of Big Pig. When he comes into town everyone hides, except for Dirty Donkey. Big Pig accuses him of stealing his hat and tries to push Dirty Donkey around. Dirty Donkey takes a stand! He won't let Big Pig push him around! This book showed a positive example of someone standing up to a bully. My children also noticed that Big Pig shouldn't have jumped to conclusions when his hat was missing. I think this book teaches some valuable lessons. My children turn each page with excitement every time I read it.

Fun Family Reading.......2001-12-21
My family checks this book out from the library regularly. My children are 5 and 3 and they can't get enough of Jack Tractor, Benny the Breakdown truck and all the other wonderful characters. My husband and I enjoy the book as much as the children do. We all have our favorite story but we read them all several times a day. I would recommend this book to any parent with children who love cars and trucks or who just love a great story.
A great favorite.......2000-02-18
We have taken this book out from the library 17 times for our 4 year old he loves it. I am sadly disapointed to see it is no longer in print. A great book that can be read and reread by children and adults alike.
teriffic book for kids who love vehicles.......1998-06-15
Both my kids love this book--a 7-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. The personalities of the vehicles are nicely done, and the tone isn't typical American pap. The only drawback is that all the main characters are male...The illustrations are modern and really well done without being too abstract.
3 year old son loves this book.......1998-03-31
This book contains 5 stories about cars and trucks that pass through Small Bill's garage. The pictures are big and fun for children to look at, the stories contain puns and witty names that make it fun for adults to read, and reinforce the importance of friendship and good behaiour for children listening. The stories are short, simple and pure fun.
