Customer Reviews:
A great beginning........2007-09-09
What can I say? I've always loved Transformers and finally there's a comic that lives up to the concept. While still being written by the same man who has been writing Transformers stories for just about as long as there are have been TF comics, Simon Furman, the IDW reboot gives a much needed chance to breath fresh air into a cluttered and stuffy story.
The modernized take, revised designs are all in service of the characters I've known and loved, yet they are presented in a fresh, detailed and intelligent manner. Truly this is THE TF comic for long-time fans.
Sometimes the whole is more than the sum of it's parts.......2007-03-26
A great re-telling of the original Transformers story for a modern generation. I read some of the single issues of this series as it was coming out, and was not impressed. But I am a Transformers Fan, and love graphic novels. So I was very surprised to find myself quickly reading this, and then re-reading this graphic novel. It is a great story overall. I am eagerly awaiting the next Graphic Novel in this storyline and will be snatching that up as well. Simon Furman does a great job of adding his own personal touches to a classic story, and I look forward to anything Transformers with his name attached.
A good start to a great update of the franchise.......2007-03-25
IDW's update of the original Transformers brings real meaning to the old slogan, "robots in disguise." Rather than accidentally crashing on Earth millions of years ago, the transformers purposely arrive within the last couple of years and take on vehicle forms to, as the title implies, infiltrate our world, one of many fronts in the Cybertronians' civil war, and mask their actions from the local populace. They're not completely successful at this, and as a result a few young humans get caught in the crossfire.
Long time transformers fans may groan at the thought of human characters playing an important role in this story, but though they still have odd names (i.e. Hunter O'Nion), they're considerably more interesting than most humans in previous incarnations, though that's not saying very much.
The Autobots and Decepticons are portrayed as more like military units than before with the Decepticons showing a higher degree of intelligence than in some incarnations of the franchise. Optimus and Megatron are not initially present on Earth due to their roles as leaders in a pangalactic struggle, but that changes due the developments in this story, and Megatron dishes out some serious hurt.
The art is top notch with great looking updated designs for the characters, which strongly resemble their Generation 1 versions. The humans' look may take a little getting used to, though.
Infiltration is a good starting point for fans new and old, but it may move a little slow and be light on big robot action for some people's tastes. If this proves to be the case for you, I recommend checking out Stormbringer (sans humans) before giving up on IDW's take of Transformers.
Excellent Start.......2007-02-19
Infiltration is a refreshing new vision of the original G1 story. bringing back what was good about the old series while updating the story to modern tastes. I enjoy the trade paperback format, and cannot wait for the next stages of IDW's work to unfold.
Book Description
YOUNG ISRAELI ARMY conscripts with minor disabilities, such as heart murmurs and epilepsy, are sent to Training Base 4 for basic training. Some come from large cities, some from kibbutzim; some were born in Israel, some are new immigrants from Eastern Europe or Arab countries. Infiltration tells the story of one platoon’s experience, a group of soldiers who represent all Israelis during the early years of their nation.
Melabbes is determined to stay separate, self-contained from the rigid routines and power plays of military life. From his detached stance we observe the other members of the platoon: Avner, a reckless romantic whose mother worked for the families of the wealthier, Ashkenazi recruits known as “the Jerusalemites”; Alon, the proud and patriotic kibutznik; Miller, a German epileptic and survivor of the concentration camps; and Micky, a famous soccer player who only recently discovered he has a heart murmur. The platoon’s sadistic drill sergeant has found in the army a way to transform himself from a student ridiculed and ostracized into someone who can literally make or break lives.
Infiltration takes place sometime in the 1950s, but it is a universal story of loss of innocence, exposing the darker side of the military process of “making men out of boys.”
Customer Reviews:
Remarkable Novel.......2005-07-06
Beautifully translated by Dalia Bilu, this novel is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. A deep and very moving account of a group of young men thrown into a military training camp for misfits -- and the traumatic experiences they undergo. But this is not a heavy novel: it is lyrical, funny, satiric and gripping. The scandal of this novel is that it has not yet received the recognition it deserves, but my prediction is that this is a work that will last.
Exhilarating.......2003-08-25
This is a real masterpiece. First Israeli novel I ever read, and what an awesome surprise. Kenaz, in his tour de force, demostrates Balzacian understanding of the human soul, and penetrating yet subtle prose. Sensitive, tragic, and full of hope. A real humanistic treat.

Book Description
After his secret identity as Daredevil is publicly exposed, Matt Murdock is forced to reckon with the problems and legal ramifications that emerged as a result of his public outing. But there isn't much time for Matt to dwell on his problems, as a new love appears on the horizon and one of Daredevil's most dangerous foes returns to perpetrate some chaos.
Customer Reviews:
Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
A decent enough Daredevil tale. Nothing to rush out and get in fancy format though. Save it for a cheap paperback reprint. I am not a huge Daredevil fan, so that may well be different if you are. This would be a 3.25 if possible in the rating system. Still better than your run of the mill superhero stuff though.
A Great Stepping Stone.......2005-09-15
This issue is a great stepping stone for the next volume. Again, Bendis makes the characters seem real. With the downfall of the Kingpin, it's a free for all in Hell's kitchen. The Owl is running a drug operation that sells mutant growth hormone that will supposedly give you Spider-Man's power temporarily. The Owl who has always seemed a silly villian to me actually seems more realistic to Bendis. Tired of losing to Daredevil, he beats vigilantes the way we would suppress vigilantes in real life: Using the law. That's right. He hires a lawyer and Daredevil can not legally touch him. We also see the semantic games that is played between the laweyer, the public, and daredevil since his secret is now out.
One of the Best Comics in Recent Years.......2003-08-25
While still facing the aftermath of having his identity outed by a tabloid, Daredevil must now face a former enemy who is trying to control the Kingpin's former territory. Meanwhile, after Daredevil rescues a blind woman from an oncoming truck, she decides to look Matt Murdock up.
For fans following the current storylines, this book is more of the same--great writing by Brian Michael Bendis and superb artwork by Alex Maleev and Matt Hollingsworth. Bendis' signature writing style is here: realistic dialogue and credible characterization. Alex Maleev's amazing visuals capture the urban grittiness of the setting perfectly, while Hollingsworth's dark colors help set the tone of the story. The only shortcoming is some of the action scenes that look somewhat disjointed.
For fans of Bendis or fans of Daredevil this is a must own. This is another great example why Bendis so reasonably earned an Eisner award on this title and why this is consistantly the best comic on the market.
(NOTE: Daredevil-Underboss and Daredevil-Out are prerequisites)

Customer Reviews:
Awesome Book -- a review by Dominic, age 9.......2006-11-18
The Time Warp Trio (Fred, Sam, and Joe) warp into the future. In the year 2095 they end up in a museum, the same museum that they were in, except in the future. They try to get back to their own time (1995). They run into some weird people, such as director Green and Uncle Joe. The problem in this story is that Fred, Sam, and Joe can't find the book. The book is the thing that allows them to go into the future and past, like a time machine.
This book is awesome because it is the only one I know of that goes into the future. In the past you already know what happened because you can just look it up in some history book. But the future is unexpected. I thought that the idea of the going into the future was great. This book was the first time warp trio book I ever read, and then I read some more because it dragged me into the series. If you like time warping I think you will want to read 2095.
It's a humorous book about the past and the future.......2006-11-04
I purchased this book for my 3rd grade son to read and he loved it. Here's what he thought of the book in his own words: "It is a cool book. It is funny, adventurous and exciting!"
In the year 2095..........2005-06-22
The situation is a familiar one to children's librarians nationwide. A wide-eyed youngster walks in, clutching the latest "Captain Underpants" edition to its chest. The child has read through every Dav Pilkey book out there and the parent is desperate to keep them reading something... anything! So what do you hand a child that has gorged his or herself on a steady diet of fart and poop jokes? Jon Scieszka to the rescue. As an author, Scieszka has attempted to gets boys to read as much as possible. Checked out www.guysread.com if you don't believe me. Now none of this is to say that "Captain Underpants" is strictly a guys book. Of course it isn't. But boys do make up the majority of the readers and finding them additional material is nigh unto impossible sometimes. That's why I love "The Time Warp Trio". No, they're not too smart. No, they won't make your child an instant Honor Student (not on purpose, anyway). These are just books that slip in tiny bits of factual information along with interesting plots and storylines that are fun. And "2095" is just one of the many.
As our story begins, our three heroes Fred, Sam, and Joe are facing a deadly Sellbot, 100 years in the distant future. A quick flashback to the past and we see how they got in that difficult position. As always, the three boys have a magic book that usually drops them in unknown time periods for no apparent reason. Fortunately, Joe seems to have found a solution to the problem. The boys, for the first time, are able to tell the book what year they'd like to go to. And what time period could be more fun than a quick shoot to 100 years in the future? Once there, however, the guys bite off a bit more than they can chew. They have to escape enraged curators, dodge sellbots, learn how to levitate, and order $151 pizza slices. The real question is, will they ever be able to make it to the past again alive?
Admittedly, this is not one of the stronger "Time Warp Trio" titles. Unlike some of the previous books, Scieszka doesn't plumb this rich material for all it's worth. The future looks like every other "Jetson" inspired flying car fantasy. Also, it's clear that the author hasn't much hope for future medical technologies if his heroes are convinced that they'll be dead 100 years in the future. Shouldn't they have done 200, just to be safe? The plots a little jumpier here than in the other books and some lines of though are a little too frantic.
But honestly, we're not debating the merits of a Shakespearean sonnet. We're talking about good crude fun. The kind of book that comes up with an amazing array of ways to describe the act of vomiting in a somewhat classy manner. Now, if you're kid has already fallen for the Time Warp Trio books and you're looking for OTHER boy series reads, I'm rather partial to the "Sidekicks" series by Dan Danko. Otherwise, stick with this trio and you'll be just ducky. Good for those kids that yearn for reading matter that's more silly than cynical.
its so awsome!.......2004-10-14
Im obsessed with the future and when i read this book i loved it right away. The ideas on anti gravity discs were cool(letting people fly!)And how Sam,Fred and Joe met their great grand daughters!I love to read books on the future and this book is great!I reccemend this book to anyone who likes reading future books.
2095 (Time Warp Trio) - not for me.......2004-08-21

Book Description
Stem cell therapy did not just appear from thin air. Before Stem Cell Therapy there were a number of therapies that used fetal, juvenile and even adult cells to stimulate a "change" in the body. Some of these Therapies still exist. This book documents one of these therapies. Cellular Therapy has be around for well over 70 years and the concept of using cell and/or tissue as a medicament has been around since Hippocrates first described his tissue remedies. The manner of preparing fetal tissue and testing these "Preparations" is described in this book. Since the late 40's when Prof. Dr. Paul Niehans first developed the method for Lyophilization with the Nestle corporations Doctors all over the world have used these products. There are many documented successes and cures related to the use of Cellular Therapy and here for the first time is the documentation of "The Medicaments of Cellular Therapy" precursor to what we now know as "Stem Cell Therapy".
The famous Revitalization which Niehans used for many years in his clinic in Vevay, Switzerland, treating Popes, Kings and Statesmen is documented with scientific evidence of its efficacy.
The interesting fact is that documented positive results have been obtained using tissue/cells from non-human mammalian sources.

A Boss in a Million by Helen Brooks (Harlequin Mills & Boon).......2006-05-17
Description from the book back cover:
The boss's mistress? Cory Masters knew Max Hunter was a powerful man. His last PA called him a boss in a million, but Cory soon discovered that he was unique. There could only be one man in the world so sexy, so dynamic, so ... overwhelming! Cory was determined to concentrate on her work, not Max's irresistible good looks. After all, she was in love with another man. A man, Max quickly decided, who wasn't good enough for her, and the simplest way to convince Cory of her mistake was holding her captive until she admitted it was Max she really wanted!
Marvelous Heroine !!.......2002-04-20
Helen Brooks did a wonderful job. I think it was the heroine, Cory that made it so wonderful for me. She was strong and she held onto her place and didn't let Max walk all over her.
Cory began to work for Max after leaving the supposed love of her life, Vivian. Vivian was getting married so she had to leave or she'll be destroyed. (Yes, Vivian is a guy) All thoughts of Vivian fled when she met Max. Max has some personal issues but his personality was captivating. He's stubborn, strong, gorgeous and protective, in his own ways. Max states in the very beginning that their relationship would only be a working relationship and that he doesn't want her to tie any emotions to this job. She agrees but that was before she realized she has fallen for him. She left him because she knew he wouldn't open up his heart to the possibility of love because of his personal issues. She walks out on him and decides to pick up her life but surprises were meant to be in store for Cory...
A BOSS IN A MILLION is a very well written book. First of all I could tell that Helen Brooks did research for her setting. There was a brief period where the characters go to Japan and every detail was well planned out. It was as if you were there and it was almost as if you were experiencing the culture. Second, I admire the heroine for her strength and for her insight of some situations. Third, this is a must read for those who revel in strong characters!
^_^ ~ Izzy
It was really Good!!!.......2001-03-06
I think the story was Great and I recommend it to everyone!

Book Description
Courting Power chronicles a significant deviation in epistolary persuasion in the 1230's, crystallized at the imperial chancery of Frederick II, Emperor from 1220-1250. here, traditional appeals, premised on authority and harmony, were challenged by letters in which historical circumstances functioned as an integral part of the strategy of persuasion. The papal account of providential history articulated by Popes Innocent II, Honorius II, and Gregory IX, was set against the secular court's reading of events.
Courting Power explores the theory and practice of medieval letter-writing as at once conservative, cognizant of its own traditions, yet receptive to the influence of other spheres of intellectual activity-whether spiritual, legal, scientific or political. Letters are evaluated as verbal acts intended to persuade, with the public as the ultimate arbiter of success. The author argues that the form, proportion and style of letters were contoured by ideology.
Book Description
Jesus’ remarkable and rather puzzling statements from the Gospel of Thomas, considered “secret sayings,” have suffered centuries of misinterpretation, reinforcing a skewed view of both Christianity and Jesus himself. In Christian Zen, noted scholar Robert Powell deciphers their true meaning and shows how they mirror Zen philosophy. His commentaries explain that the sayings embody the timeless teaching of advaita, the esoteric expression of the inner meaning of all the great religions.
Customer Reviews:
Jesus teaches Zen.......2006-09-17
This very small book lists verses of the gospel of Thomas on each page and then gives the authors comments about what he believes they mean. The authors opinion is that in the gospel of Thomas Jesus is teaching nonduality and how to discover the true Self and over come the illusion of separation and individual ego by living truly in the eternal Now.I agree with the authors opinion completely and believe this book is closer to the true esoteric teachings of Jesus than the Bible. This is a perfect book for beginners that are searching for truth or studing Zen.
