Book covers all the basics and more. I learned a lot from it and use it as a base for many different types of jewelry that I make. It's well written and can be used by beginners and the more experienced metalsmiths.

A tremendous book that covers all of the basics. If you are considering taking a class on metalsmithing, you should consider this book. It is an inexpensive foundation book that covers all of the basics and gives you good information on almost everything. Some of the more advanced details are not covered, but it has so much basic information that can be forgotten.

I borrowed this book several times from our local library and finally decided to see if a copy was still avaviable to buy. Its full of very useful information that Ive seldom if ever seen elsewhere. A great book for a hobby metal worker OR professional. Tims explanations on how to carry out various operations and processes are consise and easy to follow. Im REALLY enjoying owning this reference work.

Tim McCreight writes a book that is useful for beginners as well as more advanced students of metalsmithing. The information is presented in a manner that is easy to understand. Once you have mastered the technique the book is a wonderful reference tool. This is a must have for your metalsmithing library.
The one book for any art metal/jewelry artist.......2006-03-29
This edition or any of the other versions of this book is a must have. I have seen this book in one edition or another sold in the most different locations with only one thing in common. That is METAL you can use it no matter what you are doing if its with metal you can use this book. I have a large number of books in my collection and find that I use this one to answer questions and get quick info. I would suggest that you get the pro edition at some point as it comes with a disk with some small programs for a PDA and books on the computer only. I own it in three different editions.

Great book, but slowly becoming out of date. Great pictures. Divided into sections which include stillettos and loafers. The more "modern" shoes featured are definitely more interesting. Good review of the shoes of last century, not much insight into future design although the last two pages are dedicated to this topic.

If you want to know the history of shoes, then this is he book one should read. However, it is not as informative as I expected. This book will become dated soon as there are not much information on the future of the shoe industry. It would be more informative if the author also includes history of shoes from other parts of the world like the Asian region.
A great reference book on contemporary footwear fashions.......1998-10-03
Although many of the images are familiar to footwear 'sweeties' this book offers the shoe novice a great insight into 20th century footwear design. It is easy to follow and a welcome piece of coffee table literature. Every home should have one. And I look forward to future publications in this design series. Well done!

A comprehensive and interesting read. Many images are very familiar and have appeared in other shoe texts (eg Salvatore Ferragamo's). Snippets of information about current designers are topical and interesting. More information on the links between shoes design and haute couture would also have been useful. I'm not sure why Amazon have put categorised this in "Business and Investing" - it should be in Art or Art and Fashion.

In this 1993 book, Scott Adams' creation, Dogbert, sets out to teach the right way to do everything. Written with tongue firmly planted in cheek, this book teaches you everything you need to know, from how to talk with your mouth full, through relationships, children, pets, and on to the "S" word (as in, never say that this book is s____).
OK, as with all of Adams' Dilbert books this one displays that kooky humor that has made him famous. There is nothing serious in this book, and anyone looking for any lessons here should be tarred and feathered. Admittedly, this book moves the Dilbert characters out of the office and into many situations that they find everywhere, and they attack each situation with the same sense of pure cluelessness. So, if you are a fan of Dilbert, then I highly recommend this book to you. I loved it!
It's not as good as they are now.......2004-09-28
This seems like one of the first Dilbert books ever written, and as so, I don't think it's a very good read compared to the other currently available Dilbert books. This one uses much bigger frames for one; 4 frames per page, making the approximately 4 times bigger than the regular comic strips. This makes it seem like I'm a child reading a children's book, I must say; but this isn't the point.
My point is that there are newer and better Dilbert books available right now, and you should read those ones that are also more relevant to today's business world, than this outdated one (even though not that outdated, as I said before and will say again, there are newer ones that you should rather turn your eyes to.)

This is the book that got me originally hooked on Dilbert, and I still think it is Scott Adams' best work. The Dilbert strip, over the years, has gotten to be less about life as a well-meaning nerd, and more about the workplace, and I think a lot of very good humor has gotten lost. The humor here covers everything from dating etiquiette, to explaining why the extra fork is there, to dealing with insurance companies. Much more amusing than simply complaining about incompetent managers !

The first real Dilbert book I read, and one of the funniest things in the history of printed media. So much so that my boyfriend offers it to me to read if i'm feeling sad, cos it's guaranteed to cheer me up every time.
As all the other reviews say, it's true-to-life, with spot on observations about just about everything you could imagine. But, rather than repeat all that, i'll include some tempting insights into the best bits:
"Sitting On Them" - the subtlety of the opening cartoon had me chuckling for ages
"Death" - "I said 'Honey, don't moon the cheetahs, they look fast'"
And my personal all-time favourite, that never ever becomes less funny...Coping with people who spit when they talk - build a cone of dryness. You have to see this cartoon. Really. You'll not regret it!

This book told me what the Bible is about....book by book. It gave history, and the ways of life for the days that the Bible was written. It made soooo many things clear to me. It did more for me than chats with my pastor, because this book is so indepth, and thorough........more so than any pastor would be willing to take the time to tell you......at least in as short a time as it takes to read this. WELL worth the $!!!!

I Love this book! It has helped me tremedously. I found the references and tips to be thorough without being overwhelming. Just enough information to help you understand and at the same time inspire you to re-read the verse, chapter, book and usually with a different point of view. It is like someone just turned on the lights! This book is informative, interesting and entertaining. I highly recommend it to every christian young and old. Would make a great gift to non-christians as well.

This book is wonderful for new Christians! Or to refresh your memory. It has helped me more in one day than I have learned in a month reading the bible. What a useful tool it has been. I make sure I have this along with the bible wherever I go. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning and gaining knowledge from the bible. I did give me some extra info to think about. I would just comment that if you are not at all religious it would be hard to grasp on to. Other that than if can be helpful and give tips that would not ordinally think about. For a compact book it gets to the point of your career.

I found this book, to be whole more helpful then the book, I Kissed Dating Goodbye. After, reading the book I realized that their are still Christians out there that are not complete radicals.
I thought that the authors comments on someones readiness to date were right on. The test in the book on someone's readiness to date I also found to be helpful, so you know that your reasons for dating are proper.
About the best thing, that I found in this book, was the ideas it gives for someone going out on date on what to do on the date.
Another, book that I also found helpful was, I Gave Dating A Chance, if you want to do some additional reading on the subject.
Dating Clues for the Clueless gives fun and sound advice........1999-07-12
I thought that this book was fun to read--incorporating Godly wisdom with modern time dating relationships. Although some of the ideas were a little "cheesy," this book offers sound advice as well as a better alternative to dating: courtship. This book gives singles of today a grounding when they pursue others as possible soulmates.
