Family Secrets.......2007-02-14
Author Vanessa Craddock introduces readers to Bernadette Windsor in her novel, The Promise Box. Bernadette is a computer programmer in the United States Marine Corps. She has two siblings(Juanita and Danny) who died as teenagers and three surviving siblings. Bernadette receives a poem that mentions her deceased siblings with a postmark from her hometown Baltimore, Maryland. In the poem it mentions that the deaths of her siblings were not accidental and that someone will kill her and her surviving siblings. She returns to her hometown after receiving the poem. She begins her search for clues to find who sent her the poem before they have a chance to kill again. She starts out by going to her sister Beatrice's house for a visit. Beatrice has a new mysterious boyfriend, Witt, who Bernadette is set on knowing more about. When the skeletons start to come out of the closet, things may change for Bernadette and her family. She just may find out more than she bargained for.
This story was well-written and at times suspenseful. The characters were well developed. I could not wait until the secrets were out. I must say that I did not imagine what the secrets could be. I would recommend this book to readers looking to read about family secrets.

The promise box.......2006-03-14
I thought it was a very good book. It kept you wondering what the end was going to be. I like the fact that the writer let you know in the beginning of the story that there was a "secret" in order for your to continue to read to find out what it was. I would recommend this book.
I Tried To Keep My Promise.......2005-07-10
Bernadette Windsor, a computer programmer and Marine Lieutenant, was born the youngest of seven children. With two siblings deceased, she receives a cryptic letter in the form of a poem that another will die. What begins as a search for the creator of the letter soon spirals into a tale of deceit and family shame in Vanessa Craddock's THE PROMISE BOX.
Stationed in San Diego, Bernadette is on a mission for a promotion and the receipt of the letter could not have come at a worse time. Taking a leave of absence and returning to her hometown of Baltimore, she soon finds all appears to be normal while at the same time strange. Not receiving answers from her mother, her sister in New York City nor her brother in North Carolina, Bernadette along with her sister Bernice, are alone in the search until they come dangerously close to the truth about the source of the letter and their ancestry.
THE PROMISE BOX is intriguing because I had a need to find out exactly what this family was hiding. Why did the children of the Windsor family grow up relatively poor when their father's family was from a prominent African-American family? What is the significance of the promise box that holds clues to the discovery? Craddock did an excellent job of laying the visual image of inner city Baltimore. The character development is very good in that each character's role remained steadfast and believable. The intensity of the characters emotions is portrayed in a realistic manner. However, the climax was drawn out which made for a labor-intensive read. Also, there were numerous secondary characters all

Discovering hidden truths are never easy, especially when the one that you find out the most about is yourself.
When Bernadette Windsor receives a cryptic message, she finds herself once again returning to a place she doesn't want to go - home. Bernadette's family is anything but storybook so clearly this trip is not one for pleasure. Her determination to find out the truth about her sister's death has Bernadette stirring up pots that are making some people very unhappy. With the intent to find out the real truth Bernadette learns a lot more about some people that she has known all her life. Is she ready to know the truth?
In a time where DRAMA is topping our African American best seller lists how refreshing to read a thriller that is worthy of the highest accolades. Vanessa Craddock's debut novel, The Promise Box, promises to be nothing short of a real thriller.

Great for parents, kids, and friends!.......2002-02-06
"Lunch Box Promises" is a booklet containing over 75 tear-out notes with promises from God's Word. I was very happy to receive this booklet after winning Clubhouse's Superhero Contest in which I was one of the runner's up. Plus have it autographed by the authors, Tony Nappa and his father, Mike Nappa. Thanks lots Clubhouse and Tony and Mike Nappa!
Each note is bright, colorful, and blasting with brightness! On the front is written a Bible verse and on the back is written about what that Bible verse means to you. Here's an example from the very first note from this booklet:
GOD'S PROMISE: "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid... for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."
-Deuteronomy 31:6- (NKJV)
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?: God is the most powerful force in the universe and he promises to help you face any trouble in life - always!
Terrific for parents putting these notes in their kids lunchboxes, for kids giving to their friends, for putting in each other's lockers, and any other ingenious way you can think of! Not only that, it's the perfect way of reminding yourself and others about God's promises to us and also very encouraging in our faith.

Product Description
Guardians of the Forests details the birthplace of the Order of Hermes, Mythic Germany. From the sinister faerie heights of the Black Forest, home to Durenmar, through the prosperous and venerable cities of the Rhineland, to the fog-ridden Harz Mountains, to the lowland plain and Crintera's island retreat on the Baltic coast, the northern Holy Roman Empire is a diverse landscape of countless magical and faerie forests, interspersed with a patchwork of powerful realms, where prince-bishops vie with dukes and merchant gilds for temporal power. This is the land of the epic Nibelungenlied, the heroic conquests of Charlemagne and Frederick Barbarossa, the miracles of St. Boniface, the splendour of the Imperial Cathedrals, the gifts of minstrels and wood-wives, and the curses of witches and the Wild Hunt.
Guardians of the Forests reveals the many unique traditions of the First Tribunal, its archaic politics and lost glories, its reverence for its founders and its woodlands, the workings of the Great Library of Durenmar, and the secrets of those who pursue obscure wilderness paths in search of the primal power of the Forest. The richness of the German landscape is fully explored, replete with numerous story and saga ideas. The region of the Rhine Gorge receives a special focus -- its lost covenants, vis sources, sites of legend, towns, castles, inhabitants, and a mysterious curse are all detailed -- providing a perfect location to jump-start an
Ars Magica 5th Edition saga.

Book Description
A human knight is plunged into a strange, mystic realm when he joins forces with wood elves who are fighting to defend their forest homeland from marauding beastmen. As the forces of magic run wild, can wood elves and humans put aside their differences for long enough to defeat the evil forces of Chaos?
Customer Reviews:
How great are elves.......2007-03-21
Though this was a reasonable fantasy novel I found that the author spent to much time talking about how the wood elves were better then humans at everything (which is why I dont have alot of love for elf centric books).
Despite the "elves are so much better at X" I did like the way the book made the wood elves seem alien. These elves were more then the long-lived pretty people I've found in many fantasy novles.
Lots of elves but no passion.......2005-12-10
First of all, let me just say that I'm not the biggest fan of elves and abhor elf-worship in books. That said, good writing in what I read is what matters more regardless of the inclusion of elves or the lack of. I gave three stars cuz in listing and describing the elf types, the book does a good job but at times it read like butter spread too thin over too much bread and doesn't dig in that extra inch to hold my attention. The forest where the story takes place in was a little too fantastical and didn't mesh with the grim feel of the Warhammer world. Almost felt like I was in never, never land rather than the Old World at times. Plus the main character, Leofric allowed himself to be pushed around too much for a veteran Knight of Brettonia. I couldn't respect him and so couldn't feel fo him. Author must've been given too much to cover in one book.
Guardians of the Forest will please Fantasy Readers!!.......2005-10-22
This novel - for the most part - was very good. Full of magical places and beings that makes it a fun-filled and never dull read.
The dark chaos monsters, although cool and exciting to read, came off reading kinda half-cocked. It seemed as if the writer was going to make more characterization out of them - but didn't.
Although filled with lots of cool imagery, along with some excellent characters - both human and elf - a lot of the scenes came off seeming kinda glossed over. As if the writer had a deadline to meet.
This is still a very worthy read, despite the various problems I spotted. Liked to have seen this as a series or trilogy, so as not to feel so rushed in certain areas of storyline and characterization.
This author obviously has a good grasp on fantasy elements. And does a decent job at writing battle scenes. But some of the battle scenes were not too clear, nor well balanced for my tastes.
The different clans of elves were a treat. Unfortunately, the human main character seems to pale by comparison. That's a shame. I liked Leofric. But he came across as letting himself be pushed around for such a great human warrior. Didn't like that.
And also, if the human was so outclassed as a fighter as compared to the elves...then why at the final battle scene can he all the sudden outfight most elves...?
Still worth the read.

A real pleasure!.......2003-11-15
This is the second book in The Guardian Cycle (after The Dark Moon, and before The Crystal Desert, The Red Glacier, and Alyssa's Ring).
After saving the Floating Islands from utter destruction by bargaining with the elemental in the mines of Betancuria and letting the Enchanter take all the credit, Terrel is sent into exile, cast off on the ocean on a makeshift raft, with no idea where he is going. Probably to Macul, a land said to be inhabited by barbarians. Moreover, his link with Alyssa has been broken since he's been over water. After weeks adrift, at the mercy of the waves, his frail embarcation is finally driven ashore in a lagoon. The boy is about to die from dehydration when he's rescued by two young men, Aylen and Olandis, who take him up the river to their village.
In Fenduca, Terrel is taken in by Aylen and Olandis's father Kerin and step-mother Ysatel, and slowly recovering from his ordeal. Alas, he doesn't speak these people's language, and he can feel the whole village is suspicious of him. Could he really come from the Cursed Islands? Could he be an enchanter, a Sharakan? After some difficult times, Terrel is finally accepted when the villagers discover he has the power to heal animals, a power even Terrel was unaware of. And little by little, he'll learn their language and history: Fenduca is situated at the foot of a great black mountain, on the top of which lives the tyrant king Ekuban, in the jeweled city of Talazoria. And since the valley is the source of some riches coveted by Ekuban, the latter and his soldiers are constantly harassing the villagers.
Terrel has been searching for a way to go back to his home island of Vadanis when he has a dream in which he learns that there might be another elemental in the city of Talazoria, and that a terrible earthquake is threatening the world again if he doesn't stop the king from angering the "demon". Indeed, Ekuban has been holding the elemental prisoner in an old dungeon surrounded by a moat, and entertaining his nobles by sending beggars and cripples to fight it, to their death. Terrel will have to leave his new found friends soon.
The rest of the book describes our hero's journey to Talazoria, stopping on the way, against his will, in a mysterious valley enshrouded by clouds and where the sun never shines, to help lift a curse that has been preventing the women to have children for the last four years.
I liked The Jasper Forest a lot. It's not that this volume is extremely original, the layout being approximately the same of that of The Dark Moon, nor that the overall plot is passionating, it's just that the characters are so extremely likeable, and the story so well-written, that Terrel's day to day life becomes a real pleasure to read!

Book Description
Nick Bunick was confronted by angels, and it will change your life forever....
Nick Bunick gives back to us angels messages spoken 2,000 years ago when Jesus walked the earth. THese messages are as true today as they were then: Within every one of us is a part of GOd. It is that which gives us life and it is that which is everlasting. If we but look within, our own love will fashion a new and compassionate world.
These messages are the gateway into our next millennium.

"Source" Has a Message for EveryONE of US - Are you afraid to listen?.......2007-06-02
Angels really do exist, but I probably never would have read this book had it not been for the fact that I too began to "notice" some oddly recurring numerical sequences about a year ago and then experienced various Angelic "occurrences" which are continuing to this very day!
Then, some of my friends began to report some very "interesting" things. Being a professional reporter and editor for many years - Hearst, CBS and NBC affiliates, numerous other papers - and a College-Bowl (like "Jeopardy") All-Star player, and having some truly remarkable friends around the world, it did not take me long through research and personal contacts to find out that Angels were involved; and that's what led me to "The Messengers" which is the true story of a multi-millionaire Jewish businessman in Portland, Oregon named Nick Bunick who not only begins to "notice" the "Divine Numbers" but also has high-level business associates who also "notice" them and soon begin to encounter Angels.
Yea, it was just like my deal, except Bunick and associates experienced a few things that, so far, have been even wilder than my own experiences. Wow!
Among other things, Bunick, it turns out, also has been told by several psychics over the years, friends of friends, that he "walked with the Master Jesus" in a previous life. Well, old Nick, a tough but open-minded man, finally is "prompted" to visit another friend's past-life therapist just to see what happens. Remember, Bunick is a real-life, top-notch businessman who also is Jewish. He doesn't need money, he really doesn't want the publicity, and why would a modern-day Jewish entrepreneur want to stick his neck out for Jesus? What he does want are some answers to some very nagging questions. Something money can't always buy, so why not give hypnosis a try?
Enter Julia Ingram who, over many sessions, finds that Nick Bunick not only walked with Jesus but was none other than Saul of Tarsus who later became known as "The Apostle Paul."
Interestingly enough, I also have read "Sleeping Prophet" Edgar Cayce's "Story of Jesus" which was written long before "The Messengers," and information about Mary, Joseph, Jesus, Paul, and the Apostle Lucius provided by Cayce fully supports information about the same that is found in "The Messengers." The latter book, however, sheds a lot more positive light on Saul "Paul" and provides additional details about Jeshua "Jesus" and his ministry, contemporaries, and followers.
I believe Nick Bunick deserves a lot of credit for having the curiosity, persistence, and courage to see this book through to completion; and I also applaud Julia Ingram, G. W. Hardin, and all the others who were part of the amazing story and/or contributed to the volume's success.
To appreciate this book, one only must have some faith and an open mind, but it helps to be knowledgeable about Christianity and metaphysics (or at least the concept of reincarnation); and it really, really helps if the Angels start "prompting" you. Smile.
The Messengers.......2007-05-13
I admire the author of this book as I have been in her presence
at a Women's retreat and am inspired by her and her book.
The Messengers.......2007-03-12
This is a book that I have owned for many years and I found that all the information written about remains a wonderful research book in understanding why we are all here.
The Messengers.......2007-03-09
Makes you aware of what's going on around you. There really are angels near to help and guide us - we only need to stop and listen.
absolutly inspiring.......2006-11-04
a true revelation. g.w.hardin can certainly be classified as one of our chosen light workers on earth. this book certainly renews our faith in the angels. it was so captivating i couldn't put it down. thanks for the messages.
