Book Description
From the lowest of the low will arise a hero . . .
This is the prophecy given by the god Reorx to Verden Leafglow, a reformed green dragon rejected by Takhisis, the queen of villainy. For good measure, Reorx tells the dragon to give the hero a helping hand.
"Forever Aghar"
But who is this mighty hero? Why none other than Bron, son of the leader of the gully dwarf tribe of Bulp. Befriended by Verden Leafglow, Bron must prove his mettle as the first Aghar hero when the gully dwarves are caught up in the struggles that follow the War of the Lance.
The Gully Dwarves
The Lost Histories Series probes the historical roots and epic struggles of the heretofore little-known peoples of Krynn.

Feeling Unsure..........2002-11-17
The Gully Dwarves was a moderate work. I have read worse, but I have read allot of better books. I did find parts of it funny, and there was some pluses to this one, but, sadly, the overall unsure feeling I was left with after reading this one brought down the score.
Ok...opinions aside..now for the review:
This book started out pretty good. It stared out with a green dragon, "Verden Leafglow" , who in the begining was in the service of the evil goddess "Tahkisis". This book begins immediately after the end of the "War of the Lance".
"Verden" is rejected by the goddess for some small deed during the war, and she dies in the beginging..but she is reborn later on from her own egg, as part of her punishment from the goddess. She is reborn in the service of the gully dwarves.
The rest of the book has some very cool action sequences, a mix of a Cobar warrior, and an assassign, and an magical relic. Thats where the cool parts end. The Sheer stupidity of these creatures, gets plain irritating after awhile. It is hard to keep up with them, because they have the vocabulary of a 3 yr old at best. I managed to finish this one, simply becuase I really wound up liking Verden Leafglow. The god "Reorx" even shows up and turns out to be a pretty good conversationalist.
In short if you are a huge fan, you should give this one a read, but if you are just begining the series, then you might need to start somewhere else besides this one, and work your way up to it.
All in all it wasnt a bad read, just got irritating at times.
so 3.5 stars in all.

Funny & Intelligent!.......2002-01-16
I was very wary of this book after I bought it. After I quit reading Tales Of Uncle Trapspringer after about 50 pages or so{which is the only DL book I've EVER quit reading}& hating every short story about gnomes, I wasn't sure I wanted to dive into another book solely based on Krynn's smaller races.
But then the author's name caught my eye.
I remembered absolutely loving Dan's short stories about the Bulp Clan. I dove in.
I laughed for about the first 50-70 pages. Almost constantly. After that, the book turned a bit more serious & just as good.
Read this one. You won't regret it.
NOt that funny. Rather boring........1999-07-19
I think the book could have been done more nicely, especially the dwarves. They just didn't seem stupid enough. But sometimes it was funny. Verden just didn't seem real enough. As for Vulpin and Chatara Kral, the whole story about that was quite stupid and unrealistic.
All the action in half the size and double the laughs........1998-12-23
Before reading this book I thought that gully dwarves were brainless twits. Now I realize they are just aimless twits. The haphazard use of a magical item by such unknowing creatures was hilarious. The battle scenes and the ever present "damsel in distress" made for a great mix as well. Over all, an excellent read if you like a good chuckle in the realm of Dragonlance. Who says swords and sorcery can't be funny?
Woohoo!.......1998-10-27
This book was just great. Funny as heck, but there was some good action tied in. This book would have gotten five stars from me, but I thought that Dartimien was written too much like Raistlin.

Customer Reviews:
Well...........2001-10-26
I have to give all the short story novels 3 stars. There are some stories you won't like but they'll 2-4 really great ones that will make the books worth the price.
Good, but not the most excellent.......2001-09-24
This book was quite a good book. I read a lot of books. My favorites are in the dragonlance world. While some of the stories in this book were boring. The remainder were well written and fun to read. This book had just the right mixture of funny stories, and more serious stories. The true demise of toede, had to be one of the funniest. I would recommend this book to anyone who truly loves dragonlance.
Altogether good book.......2000-10-26
This was a fine compilation of tales, with stories that though made no big impact on the history of the series, were interesting and in themselves nice diversions from life. "Wanna Bet?" was an excellent form of characterization that was fun to follow, and narration in these stories was surely what made most of these tales fun at all. My only problem with this was, I read about Kender, and I read about Gnomes, but I failed to find any Gully Dwarves in this story, so it received the rating that you yourself see above.
Very Funny book.......2000-07-03
All I can say is that the book was great. The majority of the storys were extremly funny, and the others wern't meant to be. Some were Inspirational, especially the first story were Tasslehoff Burrfoot has to save his comrades whom are lost in the snow. Margaret Weis, and Tracy Hickman are my two favorite writers. The only downfall to this book is that one, or two of the storys are boring, and slow. But, that is made up by the other great stories in the book.
5 stars until Wanna Bet showed up.......1999-10-17
I have noticed that most of you have been praising wanna bet. WHY?!?!?! It is an insult to everything dragonlance! You will be much more satisfied with this book if you read the disappointing "Wanna Bet?" first, then read the rest afterwards, which should make up for Wanna Bet's stupidity. My favorite story was the Wizard's Spectacles. Absolutely great writing! I loved the way they talked about Dalamar through the eyes of two people with barely any brains. Absoultely loved it! Possibly because I have always wanted to know a little bit more about Dalamar's past, instead of him just showing up to learn/spy on Raistlin. He is a great charactor, but he comes in to abruptly. The rest of the stories were good as well, and if it werent for wanna bet, i would have given this book 5 stars.

Customer Reviews:
Wild elves flesh out further history of Krynn.......2007-02-19
A solid and pleasurable read for those experienced in the Dragonlance world. This novel is divided into three parts, each telling a climatic event within the history of the Elderwild elves.
The first story touches upon events in the life of Kagonos, the first Pathfinder of the "wild" elves. Through his pact with a dragon, to his timely defeat of an orge horde, to his final separation from the "house" elves, Kagonos remains a fairly wooden character and extremely difficult to like. While there are some brief flashes of reverance and grief, this "founder" of the Kagonesti tribes only potrays stoicism and a bordering on rage-like anger. Through out his tale, Kagonos never encounters fear or doubt, he is never asked to change or develop. He is presented as an unfeeling machine and continues that feel to the end.
The second story arc is the best tale of the three and focuses on a young brave named Ashtaway, the nephew of the tribes current Pathfinder. What Ashtaway accomplishes in the history of Krynn is not as profound as what Kagonos did, but what he changed within himself and the mindset of his tribe is the better story. Battling through worry and revenge, Ashtaway confronts his own people to protect the life of a human. He has the opportunity to mend mistakes and couragously defend what is correct rather than what is easy. Compounded on the growth of the main character is the appeal of the foreigners that Ashtaway meets. Sir Kamford, Highbulp Toofer and Hammana have a life of there own, there own fear, doubts and goals. Add onto that a very well written battle sequence and this story trumps its counterparts.
The third story is a chronicle of survival, then revenge and then right back into survival. Here the story tells of our young protagonist, a Kagonesti elf named Iydahoe and his bouts with the empire of Istar. These events range from fourteen years before to the day of the Cataclysm. While our main character has some epiphanies about life and the right path to take, this story is actually driven by the events that are taking place around him. While the world is falling down about his shoulders, Iydahoe goes nearly insane and loses all hope. While this is a good place for drastic character development, Iydahoe is spared that inconvenience by an apparition that leads them to safety. With that considered this third tale had the ability to be just as powerful as the second but the transitions were rushed and the true weight of what the character was dealing with was only realized in a few aspects of his journey. The most intriguing aspect of Iydahoe's story in found in what actually took place during the infamous Cataclysm and the nightmarish days preceeding it.
All in all this is a fun supplemental book to the Dragonlance realm. The history of the Kagonesti separating from the Silvanesti elves, the role a single elf played in the war during the time of Huma and how the Kagonesti fought back from the brink of extinction during the time of the Cataclysm gives more life to the living, breathing world of Krynn.
Great book, but only half of it is outstanding........2005-01-06
I wished this book was not broken up in 3 different sections.
I wish it just dealt only with the start and the beginning of the wild elves and just left it with that, instead of jumping in time in Parts 2 and 3 over to Huma and the Land of Istar.
The introduction and the first Part is awesome reading. I loved every second of it. The first wild elf meets palandine (who is called by a different name in this book)/the good dragon god in the mountains where the ancient Ogres inhabit.
The Introduction and Part 1 of the book happens many thousands of years before The Land of Istar is torn down/The Cataclyism. This book is one of the first events of the entire Dragonlance storyline/timeline/Saga.
The 2nd and 3rd Parts of the book was pointless, and a total waste of time to read.
The 2nd Part of the book talks about some backstory to Huma and the 3rd Part of the book talks about some knights of Istar, which really has nothing to do with anything, and is not important at all to the overall storyline/timeline/saga.
Just read this book for the Introduction and Part 1, and forget about Parts 2 and 3.
So actually, this book is only about 100 or 150 pages long if you take out and completely ignore Parts 2 and 3.
Well Done.......2004-07-30
Niles has completed a huge story in a few pages with this novel. The time covered is amazing in itself, but the great thing about it is that it is like getting three short novels in one book. A very fun read! The only thing I would like to have seen is three books instead of one. The individual "Pathfinder" stories were good but a longer more in depth story would have been even better. Still, a great, easy, read.
Interesting history of origins of the Wild Elves.......2003-12-12
This is a very well-written book that gives the history of the Kagonesti, or Wild Elves, by following the story of three separate characters who lived in three different ages. This book should be of interest to Dragonlance fans, but might seem a little esoteric to people with little or no knowledge of the world of Krynn and its inhabitants.
This book does a great job of giving the story of the origins of the Kagonesti and how they broke off from the other elves on Krynn. This first part was the best in the book.
The second and third parts, while still interesting, are not quite as good. They tell of the first positive interaction with humans and the days leading up to the Cataclysm. I would really have liked to see another part that leads closer to the War of the Lance and shows how the Kagonesti came to be servants among the other elven nations. This book leaves that question unanswered.
All that being said, Niles is a wonderful author and writes a good book.
a great read........2003-03-20
along with DL's CHRONICLES this ranks among the best DL books i've read. with lots of action, magic and even drama, this book's collection of stories about the wild elves always holds your attention and you never get to skip pages out of boredom. an essential DL book. trust me i have about 30 of them.

Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
Gail Simone's work with Birds of Prey is of an high order. This trade is a compilation of four issues dealing with the kidnapping of the Black Canary by the cult leader known as Savant, after a mission gone wrong.
The other Birds, with a bit of help, must work out how to get to her, and get her out.
Good Stuff.......2006-11-04
The star of the show is certainly Gail Simones writing, there is nobody working in US comics today who writes better female characters and more enjoyable dialog in general. The artwork is very capable and slick, though tending towards the cheesecake poses rather too often.
If you like well made US superhero comics then you will like this.
I own the single issues of this collection.......2006-06-14
This should collect issues 56 through 59 of Birds of Prey, and that being the case, this doesn't cover the story where Huntress investigates the religious cult and meets Vixen (that would be Between Dark & Dawn). Instead, it deals with blackmail and intrigue.
These are the first issues of BOP in which Gail Simone has taking over writing duties and served as a jumping-on point for many readers, including me. The book has never been this good. Whereas the series meandered before, it has now become an ongoing story. There is action, humor, great characters, and usually great art (there have been a few filler artists during Gail's run which is still ongoing in issues numbered in the 90s). Gail has also taken steps to add Huntress to the regular cast. She is a favorite of mine, and I'm glad she's here.
This is the first two graphic novels to feature art primarily by Ed Benes. Few people draw the female form as well as Benes. You'll either love him or hate him, depending on your feelings for "good girl" art.
A decent story with decent art - three and a half *.......2005-11-20
This title , along with Teen Titans, has got me interested in DC comics. There are better old and new DCs like Superman: Man of Steel one and two , but this is Gail Simone's work you NEED to have to read Sensei and Student.
Gail Simone should be cloned so that her brilliance lives on!.......2005-11-16
Birds of Prey are a team of women who prove that they are just as good, if not better, than the male superheroes of the DC universe.
Gail Simone, the genius writer of BoP, writes these three woman (Oracle, Huntress and Black Canary) as not just a team of superheroes but as real women. While these women can kick all kinds of supervillian ass, they also come across as real women because they joke, laugh, talk about guys, fall in and out of love and discuss their feelings. It's a refreshing change from the majority of women superheroes who are drawn with large breasts and very little emotion. The story arc in this TPB is also very gripping as Black Canary is captured by an insane information broker (and blackmailer) named Savant while Oracle and Huntress do whatever they can possibly do to rescue her.
If you're looking for a fun and entertaining read, Birds of Prey: Of Like Minds is the book for you.

Super Reader.......2007-08-31
Rogue is sometimes scary, sometimes sympathetic, and one of those tragic heroic figures. His ultimate adversary in this book, is basically batguano crazy, and she is obsessed with becoming like him, using some Frankenstein like methods from the parts of fallen comrades for research.
That sort of thing never works.

Amazon.com Audiobook Review
Caroline Myss, who's billed as "America's Leading Medical Intuitive," explores the connections between mind, body, and spirit by defining how stress and emotion contribute to disease, suggesting ways to harness our inherent spiritual powers and ultimately giving hope to patients whose illnesses have failed to respond to conventional treatment. This collection contains three of her most popular titles: Spiritual Madness, Spiritual Power, Spiritual Practice, and Why People Don't Heal. In each, she explores the relationship between ancient notions of a human energy system and modern scientific study on how thoughts influence our bodies and our lives.
Book Description
On Spiritual Power, Spiritual Practice, listeners join this respected medical intuitive and bestselling author to explore the prayers, reflections, and other teachings she developed in her own spiritual practice. Through these daily disciplines - including two 40-minute meditations, one for morning and one for evening - anyone can learn to tap the wellsprings of love, faith, and trust that energize our spiritual potential. Enhanced features include video footage from Caroline Myss' Energetics of Healing, music from Glen Velez's Rhythms of the Chakras, and an interview with the author.
Customer Reviews:
Great collection!.......2006-11-10
We used to have a few of these on cassette tapes, but some of them self-destructed, and those that survived can no longer be played in a car that lacks a cassette player. That makes these CDs invaluable - they can even be transferred into our ipod. This is a great collection of Caroline Myss's sane and fabulous thoughts. She is so sensible and soothing. We recommend it without reservation.
Caroline Myss Audio Collection.......2006-11-06
I just love these CD's. I was asked to purchase Spiritual Madness by a counselor, but when I found the three collection series, I decided to purchase all three. I listen to them non-stop and find I am applying so many of Caroline's practices into my daily living. Sometimes when I play them I wonder "I've never heard that before" even though I know I've listened to the CD's through and through. But you hear different things at different times and have to be patient with yourself. After just having a difficult time with illness, myself, these tapes helped me thorough the illness with peace and understanding that something was just working itself out in my body and I tried to work with the illness as opposed to fighting it. These tapes are invaluable to me.
The Caroline Myss Audio Collection: Spiritual Power, Spiritual Practice/ Who People Don't Heal/ Spiritual Madness.......2006-03-26
This collection, by Caroline Myss, has been an awesome experience: one that has caused me to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I now experience peace and contentment in a greater abundance. I no longer operate in fear. I practice staying in the moment. I willingly face my shadow and am not afraid of the lessons to be learned because of my confrontation with my inner self. This series is one that I listen to over and over again, without becoming weary of the new found messages that I receive. I'm letting go of my expectations of myself, God and others. I'm grateful for this encounter
Excellent Program!.......2003-03-15
I bought a second one and gave it to a friend who's recovering from cancer, and she loves it! It really brought to light to me how I can be in charge of my life, as pulling all my energies into the present, and away from useless wastes of that energy. These CD's are teaching me how to be close with the divine, without all the associated dogma of my Catholic beginnings.
Caroline Myss audio collection.......2000-04-17
Originaly I bought this audio set to use the daily meditations, however I find the other two tapes are the ones I use most often. Onthe meditation tape some of Carolines wording is too harsh for me and so the tape has been very helpful as a guide for me to create my own daily 'program'. I work at a job that allows me to listen to audio tapes (with earphones on) and I use Carolines tapes often. They give me broader insights into daily life and the wacky world of work. Two of Carolines (true) stories always inspire me. They are from the life of David C. Paladin, a man who went through a living hell and was forced to save himself in an amazing way. The other person had his everyday world crumble in one cataclysmic day and found his way into a life he couldn't have dreamed big enough to imagine! END
