Book Description
My boyfriend is ... pregnant?!
Jason likes to read classic literature in nightclubs to pass the time, Gabriel only wants to have sex and start fights. Nothing in common? Well, not right away, as the guys argue their way through dates, and debate everything from clothes, sex, lifestyle choices and not least of all, monogamy.
Until ...
The difficult courtship between the two young men becomes more complicated when Jason quickly becomes very sick. The two relationship newbies imagine the worst when they visit the doctor, only to get the one piece of news they weren't prepared for.
Is love and the chance for a brand new life the most unusual thing of all?
As the adventure continues, the boys find themselves driving to Vermont for answers. There, they meet Zoz, she runs Full Moon Farm, and she is determined to keep them focused on the new life they have begun together.
The Beginning is an allegory in which the reader is provoked, turned-on, and soothed. The roots of homophobia had to do with the male union being non-generative, but is nothing new born into the world when two men come together in unconditional love?

Can't wait to read more.......2006-04-21
I read this as my first gay novel. I am just in awe that I still think of his characters so much. Wish I knew how to write this well..I cried and I really thought about my life...
Can't wait to see what's next!.......2006-02-28
A brilliant first novel. Having read some of Soriano's short stories, I expected an impressive effort with "The Beginning"... and I wasn't disappointed. Soriano really knows how to breathe life into his characters - you will find yourself thinking of them long after you've finished the book. The ending left me expecting a sequel at some point... I hope I'm right!

But to save a land where the dead walk and ghosts haunt the living, this strange, feral girl-renamed Rhiannon, the rider no one can catch-must convince the human apprentice witches she meets to trust the word of a wild, half-human girl.

Awesome series.......2007-10-03
For those familiar with the author's works, The Tower of Ravens, and the rest of "Rhiannon's Ride", is set in Eillean, and takes place about 20 years after the sixth installment of the Witches of Eillean series. I would recommend that if you haven't read the series, but intend to, I would read it before starting The Tower of Ravens, due to the fact that there would be some spoilers in this series about the Witches series. This book/series, is about a half human half satyricorn girl who escapes her mother, who is the matriarch of her herd. She has some amazing adventures, and somehow comes through it all. Only things I could have wished to be different in this series, is maybe a little less sexual tension between Rhiannon and Lewen early on in the series, and maybe having the afterward being about 3-5 years out, instead of 3 weeks out. Overall, a very pleasureable reading experience. Couldn't put the books down. A must read for people who have read the previous series, and also, for those who would like to get to know the authors works better.
The new saga from Eileanan.......2007-08-09
The Tower of Ravens is a wonderful continuance of The Witches of Eileanan. This gives Forsyth's wonderfully complex characters in her first series some relief to grow up in relative peace. This new trilogy is based in the next generation of Witches, some fifteen years after the end of The Witches of Eileanan saga. This Trilogy stands alone; however, I seriously recommend reading The Witches of Eileanan series first.

Very rarely does a fantasy novel manage to take you into its world from the first page and refuse to let you go until the ending. More often than not, stories in a series get you hooked into its magical world, then leave you hanging as you breathlessly await the next installment. Not so with Kate Forsyth's THE TOWER OF THE RAVENS. For those who have never visited her world of Eileanan in books such as The Pool of Two Moons: Witches of Eileanen Book 2 (Witches of Eileanan) or The Cursed Towers (Witches of Eileanan, Book 3), never fear! THE TOWER OF THE RAVENS is a fantasy epic that can definitely stand alone, and does so with competent writing, fantastic world-building, and a deeply heroic cast of characters.
Ever since she was a young girl, Rhiannon has wanted nothing more than to catch a winged horse, to tame and train it so that she could fly away and escape from the hellish nightmare that is her life. Scorned, ridiculed, and even feared by her fellow man, Rhiannon lives in near solitude, wanting only to belong. Without even a name at this young age, the daughter of One-Horn and a human father. One-Horn is the mother of the tribe of satyricon, fairies who have horns and hoofs instead of feet. Rhiannon, born without a horn and with human feet, is immediately branded an outcast, and she lives her solitary life with only the hope of escape as comfort.
When she finally manages to escape upon a winged horse, its not without injury and risk to herself. Arriving at the home of Lewen, an apprentice witch, she's finally given a name-and perhaps a chance to truly belong. When Lewen and his family decide to bring Rhiannon to the Tower of Two Moons in the city of Lucescere to be tested for magical ability, Rhiannon worries that she might once again lose any sense of self she's just beginning to gain.
Murder, intrigue, and suspicion soon surround Rhiannon when a member of the Guard is found dead. Suddenly surrounded by unimaginable evil and malevolence, it will take all the strength and magic that Rhiannon possesses to protect herself and those she loves.
THE TOWER OF RAVENS is a wonderful fantasy novel that will thoroughly immerse you in Kate Forsyth's magical world. A woman who wants only to find her place in the world, Rhiannon is a strong, caring woman who truly overcomes her past to be a woman that everyone can be proud of.
Tower of Ravens - Rhiannon's Ride Book 1.......2007-02-02
Bloody AWESOME!!! Highly recommended. So good that I have read all the books in this series. Also I have started the other books in the series before Rhiannon's ride. These ones tell the tales of the older characters in Rhiannon's ride. It doesn't really matter if you decided to read this series after the Tower of Ravens, but I think it would make things even more exciting!
None the less one of the best novels/series I have ever read.
Craptacular.......2006-06-02
This book would have been a thousand times better if Ms. Forsyth had not gone so heavy on the Scottish accent her characters use. I realize that this book is set in a Scottish setting, but it's no use reading a book when you have to read and re-read a conversation three times so you can translate what they are actually saying. I can usually get used to a written dialect (Hagrid in Harry Potter, everyone in Their Eyes Were Watching God), not so with this book.
Also, the plot goes nowhere for 3/4 of the book. I'm sure there was a climax in there somewhere, but I never found it. The ending was a cliffhanger. It was a fittingly crappy ending for a crappy book. Don't waste your money on this book or the sequel. I would not recommend this book unless you enjoy wasting a few hours of your life.

Young people will love the story line. The book has a map on the inside cover to track the action within the castle!
Friends for life........2006-06-09
Have you ever read the book the Raven Master's Secret? If you haven't you definitely should read it. The suspense is unbarriable, and the characteristics of the charactors are very funny and intresting. The book in general is amazing.
The sespence makes you want to keep reading. You just can't put the book down. For example, when one of the main characters, Maddy is going to be beheaded, and her friend Forest must save her, within a couple days! That is just one of the many suspencful parts. Another part is when Forest wants to pay of his friend Ned's freedom with a diamond ring. However, he loses the ring and Ned will have to risk his life while sweeping the chimneys. For he sweeps chimneys for a job. Will Forest free Ned and rescue Maddy?
A good thing about this book is that a boy or a girl could read it. The main characters are Forest, which is a guy an Maddy who is a girl. The characters have interesting traites. For example, Maddy is a villian, a princess and a heroine. She is a villian because she comes from Scotland; the country England is at war. She is also a princess by birth. She becomes the heroine, as Forest's best friend. Forest is suiposed to be guarding the prisoners so that no one escapes. This makes him torn between helping Maddy escape and fulfillig his job. He is brave, kind, intellegent, generous and loyal to his friends and beliefs. The charcteristics of this book are very interesting!
This book has great suspense and interesting charcters. I hope you read this book. If you read this book you will be able to answer the questions; will Forest rescue Maddy and pay for Ned's freedom?

The Ravenmasters secret.......2007-03-21
In the book The Ravenmasters secret it talks about a kid named forrest harpers life. His life is all about chores or so he thinks. Until he meets a girl named maddie. He begins to like her and doesnt want her to be in a cage. He finally breaks her out and has to escape the castle without being seen. They try and find out a way to escape but a guard comes and almost spots him breaking out maddie. Forrest and maddie soon find out that they dont need just courage they need stealth to.It takes place in london in the 1700s.
What I liked about this book is that it made me wanting to read it more and it stopped in the middle of a good part. It made me think what was going to happen next. What I didnt like about this book is that it used alot of different words that are hard to understand.

An Excellent Book!.......2006-12-10
The Ravenmaster's Secret by Elvira Woodruff is one of the best books I have ever read. In each chapter, you discover new things about each character. This book teaches a lot about history, and I love the litle details that the author puts in, such as Forrest having only two pairs of pants that he wears for two weeks each. All thirty two chapters are exciting. You will never get bored with this book! If your child likes to read, this book would make a great Christmas present.
Not an ordinary prisoner, Maddy?.......2006-06-09
The Ravenmaster's secret is a great book in my opinion. Two reasons I enjoyed the book are: the significant setting, and how the author writes with detailed description about many things.
The setting in The Ravenmaster's Secret is in a tower called The Tower of London. It is crucial to the story because if the setting was changed, the story would not work. For example, is the setting was changed to Chicago, the story would be strange because there are no towers with prisons in Chicago. In The Ravenmaster's Secret, a tower is needed because Forrest Harper and his father are guarding a prisoner named Maddy in the tower's prison.
The other major reason I really enjoyed this book is how creative the author is when she decribes certain things. Some of these things include how she describes Maddy, who is Forrest's prisoner. The author does an awesome job of describing Maddy's pretty blue eyes, and her filthy dress. Another thing the author describes is how Forrest Harper would like to run away out of the tower's limiting walls. Forrest uses his spyglass to imagine what is outside of the tower in the real world.
The Raven Master's secret is a wonderful book filled with great descriptions, and unexpected events. Will you enjoy this book as much as I did?
Ravenmaster's Secret.......2006-05-11
Anyone who is an adventure lover please step forward. The Ravenmaster's Secret by Elvira Woodruff is a great read. Tuck, Forrest Harper, Maddy, and Ned(a.k.a Rat) are the main characters. The Tower of London in 1735 is when the story takes place. The problem is that Maddy, a Scottish Rebel's daughter, is going to be executed by an axe and Ned needs to pay off his indenture with the tower sweep.
In the beginning of the book Forest finds out its Collar Day and a highwayman is getting hanged. In the middle of the book Tuck the raven speaks and says "King George" and Rat and Maddy get away in a boat.
The theme of the book is never give up on your friends. The book reminds me of my mum because she is from England. People who are boys or girls from 5th to 6th grade will like this book.

The Ravenmasters Secret.......2005-12-19
The Ravenmasters Secret is a great story for everyone of all ages. The Ravenmasters Secret gets you wondering what you would do if you were in the same shoes as the main character. The main Character is Forrest who he and his family live in the tower of London, he is the Ravenmasters son. He takes care of ravens and also feeds the prisoner which he is in charge of, forrest has many differnet chores around the fortress. In the story he gets caught into a deep secret which he and is friend, the rat catcher, Ned risk their lives to save a scottish rebels daughter who is a prisoner, named Madeline, she is the same age as Forrest and Ned.
Forrest gets into many tough situations which I would not have the courage to risk my life for. In the book you learn about the different lifestyles and theculture of England around 1735.
The Ravenmasters secret is based on a true story, but not real characters, it is based on several attempts of the escape of the Tower of London. The Ravenmasters Secret is a wonderful book which once you start you can't stop until you find out the conclusion to see how the plan to escape turns out.

The Secrets Are Still Out There..........2003-07-31
Rae Voight knows that Anthony is still mad at her for going behind his back to find out about his dad and he even tries to avoid being paired with her in group therapy, but they get stuck telling each other about their hopes and dreams. Rae is surprised when she finds out that Anthony really wants to go to Sanderson Prep, her own high school, so that he can play football there. Anthony knows that he can never go there because it is way too expensive and he can barely read, let alone pass a bunch of tests. But Rae is determined to make this dream come true. She helps Anthony study and learn to read better and sets up a tryout practice with the coach at Sanderson Prep. Before he knows it, Anthony is on his way to the rich kids' school and he gets to play on the best football team in the area.
Rae is so happy to have Anthony at Sanderson with her - now she will finally have a friend at school! However, things don't turn out the way that Rae planned. She is shocked to discover Anthony hanging out with her old group of friends - even Marcus, her ex-boyfriend who is trying to get her back! Rae doesn't know what to do and she finds herself leaning on Yana, her only girlfriend, more and more as more strange stuff happens. First she gets some fungus on her tongue and is worried that she is developing the same symptoms her mother did before she died. Then there is the creepy teacher, Mr. Jesperson, who always seems to be watching her. And Rae still doesn't know anything more about her mother and the New Agey group that she was involved in before she was committed. Rae has a feeling that she is finally going to find some answers when she finds out her mother's group used to meet at Wilton Community Center. However, when she goes to the center and meets Aiden Matthews, she ends up having more questions than she did before. Rae desperately wants to go over everything with Anthony - but all he ever talks about is football and Jackie, one of her ex-friends from before. How can she deal with all of these secrets on her own?
This is the fourth book in the Fingerprints series and if you have read the first three before this, than this one just keeps drawing you in deeper. Every time Rae finds out something about her mother there are a ton of other questions that pop up and the reader is really kept guessing as to what is going to happen. And its not like Rae can just worry about her mom, she has to worry about not having any friends at school, whether she should get back with Marcus or not, what the heck she is supposed to do about Anthony, typical, normal life stuff. Just be advised that the book has a total cliffhanger ending AGAIN - make sure to have book #5 ready to go!
Fingerprints Four Secrets.......2001-10-19
Rae Voight with help from Yana now knows about her mother. She gets many messages from the person who is trying to kill her, saying "stop asking questions". She knows that if the person wants her to stop she must be getting close. She is so determined that she will go see this man that she and Yana have only met once. When her and Yana get there it is not at all how they planned. Rae and Yana need Anthony's help but, will he figure out how to help them in time? Read this book to find out!
This book is very interesting. It has a nice mixture of mystery and romance. I really enjoyed this book I hope you will too.
An open target..........2001-08-28
Rae Voight has finally discovered the truth about her mother -- and has even found a horrifying revelation about herself. It still seems apparent that those that are after her, because of her extraordinary ability to touch a fingerprint and read the thoughts of the person who left it behind, aren't giving up on her yet -- and it seems that more actions are being taken by the ones who hide in secrecy. Anthony has just gotten into Rae's school, Sanderson Prep, and is finally happy with his place in society. But at school, there's a girl named Jackie -- who is looking for danger. Anthony has to figure out the truth about Jackie fast, before something bad happens. But more so, Rae has an even bigger agenda -- it's finally time to search for her mother's past. There are many secrets to uncover, but little does Rae know how much the danger is growing. Fingerprints #4: Secrets is the thrilling continuation of the exciting Fingerprints series by Melinda Metz, and the most harrowing book in this intense series yet.
The excitement just keeps on comming.......2001-08-27
In this book, Secrets, Rae tries as hard as she can to find out about her mother and her past. Because she knows her ability is somehow connected to her mother and if she dosen't hurry her own body will beat her stalker in killing her. Usually she would run to Anthony and ask for help but he seems to have more important things to do ever since he started at her school. Rae is furious at him. It looks like it's just Rae and Yanna now to solve the ongoing mystery but Rae could be walking into a trap. THis book was great. Melinda Metz once again delivers suspense, romance, and mystery in book [amt]. I can't wait till the next book, Betrayel, comes out. I hope it's just as good as this one. I reccomend Secrets to anyone who's a fan of the series and wants to read more. Have fun!
The fourth book in the thrilling Fingerprints series!.......2001-08-20
In "Secrets" Anthony starts to go to school at Sanderson Prep. He hopes that this will get him and Rae even closer. However things are way different then he expected. He is befriend by Rae's old friends, the very ones who abandoned her. It seems that Jackie Rae's old friend seems to be hitting it on with him making him very uncomfortable. What he doesn't realize is how Rae is feeling as their misunderstanding grows deeper.
Rae feels Anthony has abandoned her. It seems he never has time for her problems anymore since he keeps blabbering about how there is something seriously wrong with Jackie. Whats more it seems like he has befriended her old friends. Now she only has one person who cares about her---Yana. As she and Yana dig into Raes mom's past they get themselves closer to danger as they look into the New Agey Group Rae's mom particpated in.
Just when Rae has gotten pretty close to the truth Jackie is sent to the hospital on overdosige of aspirin. Rae realizes how wrong she was and decides to repear her friendship with Anthony.
However just when things are getting much better between the two of them Rae disappears with Yana. Can Anthony figure out he clue she gave him and find her in time?
Rae/Anthony fans will be very happy in the end when they...Sorry! You will have to read it to find out!

Book Description
The world’s leading authority on the prophet Isaiah brings his distinguished three-volume commentary on the book of Isaiah to a conclusion with this new translation and critical discussion of the final eleven chapters.
The concluding section of the book of Isaiah, sometimes referred to as Third or Trito Isaiah, had a profound impact on the Christian movement in its formative phase, including such central issues as the identity of the founder, the profile of the disciple, and the Gentile mission. In this thorough and informative commentary, Joseph Blenkinsopp shows that while these chapters maintain continuity with Second Isaiah, they must be considered in the light of a new set of circumstances.
The texts present a community beset by severe problems, attempting to cope with disappointed expectations and trying to maintain its faith in the reality, power, and benevolence of the God of traditional religion. Blenkinsopp discusses in detail the issues that divide the community, from concerns about the efficacy of religious practices (prayer, fasting, Sabbath observance, and sacrifice) to questions about who may claim the name of Israelite and under what conditions, to what kind of relations should be maintained with outsiders. In examining each of these topics, Blenkinsopp shows that they provide evidence of an emerging Judaism seeking its own identity and self-definition and testify to the existence of a prophetic discipleship inspired by the person and teaching of the charismatic servant whose fate is described in the previous section of Isaiah.
Reflecting the same standard of excellence as Blenkinsopp’s first two volumes on Isaiah, this is an important contribution to the prestigious Anchor Bible Commentary series.
