Customer Reviews:
My little girls LOVES this sticker book.......2002-07-04
I bought this as a birthday present for my 7-year-old and she has spent a lot of time poring over each page, reading the captions and attaching the stickers. It is a very informative book and lots of fun for the little girl who likes stickers and ballerinas (which is just about all of them.) It was inexpensive and the stickers -- which are beautiful -- are re-usable.

Save your money..........2006-04-29
These are cute, chubby ballet kids but not worth the S&H which doubles the cost. Age appropriate for 3-5 year olds - to 'baby' for any older then that. Go to your nearest craft store and you will find much nicer for much less.

not what I expected.......2003-01-22
I expected an activity book with multiple pages. What an awful disappointment to find a single glossy page with reuseable stickers. That's it. Actually, its only a half-page size.
sticking to ballet.......2001-03-18
I found the book "Ballet Sticker Activity book" to be a great resource for a young ballet dancer just starting out in ballet.I feel as a ballet dancer it gives the children an extra push in starting ballet and the activities are fun.

Stickers and a stage.......2007-05-07
This is stickers inside a book with a few sets, where kids can stick and re-stick the stickers. I thought my 6-year-old niece would love it, especially after we saw the ballet, but she got bored with it rather quickly.

Book Description
Turn back the calendar pages for a memorable jaunt through the early '70s! The clothing is very wearable, while being sought after by collectors. Drawn from Sears catalogs of the period, this entertaining book is an invaluable help in identifying and pricing vintage clothing and accessories. The captions provide accurate and detailed information about the many fashions illustrated in over 400 color photos. Today, clothing from the early 1970s is extremely popular on the vintage market, both to retail buyers, who enjoy wearing the styles, and to designers, who use the styles for inspiration. Here are examples of all the trendy styles of the period: mini skirts and dresses; hip-huggers and bell-bottoms; skimp-sleeved pullovers and slink knit shirts; mini and maxi coats; jumpsuits and tunics; chunky heeled and platform shoes. The book focuses on women's fashions, but includes examples of collectible men's and children's fashions as well.
Customer Reviews:
A polyester dream for the 70s vintage clothing fan!!.......1998-05-19
This is an amazing resource, loaded with full color photos of those groovy, crazy styles of the 70s. Featuring mostly women's clothing, this is no disco party -- this is a total Mary Tyler Moore/Rhoda fashion parade. Each page is more insane than the next!! Super duper cool. Gee, think I like it much?

Dilbert is the comic strip for the downsizing, techno-talking workplace of the '90s. Cartoonist Scott Adams provides an outrageously fresh and farcical take on the work-a-day world and Dilbert's own pathetic life.
Customer Reviews:
Examples of intellectual harassment in the workplace.......2006-10-29
There are many excellent comic strips, but few are so powerful that they frighten the business world. Some people in management consider the Dilbert comic strip so subversive that they have banned it from their organization. Furthermore, the companion web site is blocked so that it cannot be accessed from the work site. In reading the strip it is easy to see why, which demonstrates a very sad fact about the current business climate in the United States. Despite so much rhetoric to the contrary, the generalized American worker is losing ground. While the conditions of the workplace have improved in the areas of sexual harassment, workers are constantly exposed to intellectual harassment. Forced to agree with senseless policies and criticized as not being a "team player" if they raise any sensible objections, intelligence and initiative are suppressed.
The Dilbert strip demonstrates these conditions in a manner where you laugh because the only alternative is a deep sadness. I have been witness to some of the situations illustrated in the cartoons in this book. The meeting called just so the boss can praise themselves and hear themselves be praised. Memos that criticize a worker for showing some simple and reasonable initiative because that initiative was in direct contradiction to a foolish rule put forward by management. My favorite from my experience is when a co-worker received a reprimand for booting his machine ten minutes before eight in the morning. The reason given was that it could be interpreted that he was starting work before the designated time. The fact that his computer would be booted and ready to go at eight was lost in the reasoning. This book is a "welcome" to the world of petty and incompetent management.
Very Funny.......2005-03-15
You just can't help but to love Dilbert. The comics are hysterical. The sarcasm is very funny, however, if you are looking for some entirely mindless comic that takes no thinking just cued laughter, i'd skip this one. Otherwise, it is a very enjoyable book.
One of the best of the Dilbert books........2004-10-26
Right up there with "Clues For The Clueless", "Shave the Whales", and "Bring Me the Head of Willie The Mailboy", this is one of the funniest of Scott Adams's Dilbert books. An excellent blend of the just generally silly (Ratbert gets lost in a hole in the fabric of space) and social commentary (a little girl gets help from Bob the dinosaur punishing adults who are ruining the world by giving them wedgies), there's a chuckle in here for every mood.
I Worked for a Pointy-Haired Boss Once..........2004-06-20
I didn't fully appreciate the humor behind Scott Adam's strip until I moved to the Bay Area and got to experience the tech industry first hand. At my previous job it seemed liked I was actually working for the pointy haired boss.
A Hillarious Classic Dose of Dilbert.......2001-11-29
This book is a classic compilation of comic strips in the days that were not so focused on business. Dogbert can be seen more than the current strips doing other things besides consulting, and a glimpse of Dilbert's personal life is seen. Alice, Catbert, and Asok were not characters yet, and the boss hadn't been quite fully developed, but getting there. However, the pointy-haired boss is still a main and hillarious character, along with Dilbert's lazy colleague, Wally, and the many annoying co-workers that fill up the office.
Customer Reviews:
My Students Sometimes Write Like This (Unintentionally).......2001-11-04
It was a hot and dusty night (for you see, dear review reader, I live in a desert, where the nocturnal temperatures sometimes do not go below 90 degrees -- that is in the height of summer, as when I began this humorous tome I am reviewing) when I sat down to read the submissions of frustrated Victorian 'wannabees' who have more time on their hands than American Vice Presidents (present times excluded, of course) to dish out poorly conceived sentences modeled on that paragon of forgotten 19th Century literature, Bulwer-Lytton, whose flowery prose brings to mind the brain of soap opera producers who don't know when to stop; and neither did I, because this book was so darn funny, I almost wet myself -- therefore, I highly recommend it as a pleasant diversion better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- and that's saying a lot.
Too much of a good thing.......2001-06-15
Scott Rice, ed., It Was a Dark and Stormy Night: The Best of the Bulwer-Lytton Contest (Penguin, 1984)
It seems like a can't-miss idea, right? Publish the thousand or so best of the myriad entries the Bulwer-Lytton contest got in 1984. And, really, there's a lot of funny stuff here. But two hundred pages' worth does get old. Definitely a bathroon-read kind of book. It does divulge such brilliant bits as "a crowded elevator smells different to a midget," though, so it's worth your time. ** 1/2
The original collection of Bullwer-Lytton entries........2001-02-15
The editorial review claims that this is the fourth collection; I believe that this is in error. This is the first, the original, copyright 1984, with entries from the first year of the contest.
The Bullwer-Lytton fiction contest (named for Edward George Bullwer-Lytton, who is responsible for the novel "Paul Clifford" (1830) which is famous for the opening line, "It was a dark and stormy night...", often spoofed, most famously by Snoopy in the "Peanuts" comic strip) has been an annual contest since 1983, the object of which is to write the worst possible opening sentence to a hypothetical novel. To be honest, this one isn't QUITE as funny as "Dark and Stormy; the Final Conflict", which is the only other collection that I've read yet, but it is still well worth reading if you have the particular warped sense of humor to enjoy parodies of overblown purple prose.
One of the funniest books I've ever read........2000-10-03
The Bulwer-Lytton fiction contest is an annual contest run by Scott Rice of San Jose State University. in which he challenges entrants to compose the opening sentence to the worst of all possible novels; the inspiration for the contest (and the title of it) is Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, who wrote the much-spoofed "Paul Clifford" in 1830, the novel that begins with the phrase, "It was a dark and stormy night...". This book is the fourth of, so far as I know, five collections of the best (most stunningly bad?) entries to that contest.
Absolutely hilarious.......1999-10-19
Many of us how to write bad Hemingway. Lots of us can write a bad novel noir, after, say, Raymond Chandler. But just a few pages of this book instruct us in a much broader range of bad writing. This book is a true classic and should be in every library. Or maybe, supressed...
