The Best Book In The World.......2007-06-14
I love this book and have probably read it about 15 times in the course of a long life. In his introduction Borges mentions "the pleasure of useless erudition" so I must be that I am particularly sensitive to this pleasure. But it is really a book for everybody. It's such an odd subject I would have at first thought it might have a small audience but I have turned lots of friends on to it and they like it too. None of can adequately express just what it is that makes this book so enchanting, and how reading it takes us pleasurably miles away from the world of telephones, anger, bank statements, and cellphones.
Seres fantásticos de todos los tiempos. .......2005-04-20

Book Description
The sixth edition of Water Supply and Pollution Control continues to offer a state-of-the-art look at modern water management. Warren Viessman, Jr. and Mark J. Hammer emphasize the application of scientific methods to problems associated with the development, movement, and treatment of water and wastewater. Recognizing that all waters are potential sources of supply, the book's tradition of presenting treatment processes in the context of what they can do, rather than in the context of water or wastewater treatment, is becoming more appropriate as the concept of total water management gains greater acceptance. Improvements to the sixth edition include:
New material on water resources development, population forecasting, urban storm drainage, distribution system design, and the use of EPANET Substantially revised coverage of water supply and use, water distribution, the
hydraulics and hydrology of sewer and storm drainage systems, biological treatment processes, sludge processing, and advanced wastewater treatment to reflect the latest technologies, engineering practices, and regulations New examples and problems based on actual engineering designs and operations Emphasis on computer-oriented solutions where appropriate Throughout the book, the presentation has been clarified where necessary to make this an invaluable text and reference for the civil and environmental engineering student and professional.

quick delivery.......2007-01-27
The book was brand new and got here in three days. Cheaper than the bookstore and the wait was very short.
Good, could be better.......2002-03-01
As teacher of an Environmental Engineering course (at Ariel Academic College, Israel) and as consulting engineer, I find the book useful, but... Some areas are weak: Population and demand prognosis, Resource planning, Economic evaluation and optimization, Advanced water treatment (membrane and ion exchange technologies, for example), Desalination of brackish and sea water. Each chapter has a well explained exercise, a very useful feature, but most are non metric. All in all, I know of no better textbook, and it is worth its money.
water and waste.......2000-02-11
The book is very easy reading and understandable, but it does not have answers to the work problems which is most important. It has a good balance of theory and applications.

BEWARE NO MORE TO BE PUBLISHED!!! SERIES CANCELLED BY PUBLISHER!.......2006-12-09
I just read Shield of the Sky and knew that Hammer of The Earth came out in Oct 2005. I was wondering why Amazon didn't have any more of the series available since this author is usually fairly consistent with her release dates. I went to the official Susan Krinard web-site and it states that the publisher Luna has canceled the series. The story will not be wrapped up if you buy Shield of The Sky and Hammer of The Earth you will just waste your money on two books. While they may be enjoyable the story will not end, I hate when this happens!! I guess just not enough people bought these books. I have to say SHAME on AMAZON for selling it at it's regular price, it should be in the "discount aisle".
Good story.......2006-03-15
The second book of the series(which should be better noted as such) continues a tale of action and adventure. It is pretty good but some of the character developement is a bit off. I did enjoy it however and would reccomend it to everyone.
If you like books like this one, might I suggest another I've recently come across. The Unsuspecting Mage by Brian S. Pratt. It's another fantasy adventure sure to please. I highly recommend it. It's available in e-Book too.
Warning: Book Two of a Series.......2006-03-09
I purchased this book not knowing it was a sequel to Krinard's Shield of the Sky. This book constantly refers to characters introduced, and events that occurred, in Shield of the Sky. I put this book down after Chapter Two and orderd Shield of the Sky. I recommend that anyone wishing to read this book should read Shield of the Sky first.
fantastic quest filled fantasy .......2006-02-01
Rhenna the amazon warrior with powers of air, Cian the Aliuri shapeshifter, Tehva the seer, and Nyx a woman with secrets to keep all escape from the capital city of Karchedon in the evil Arrihidaean Empire. Only Quintos stays behind because the Tiberian rebel learns that he really is the baseborn half-brother of the Emperor Nikodemos. The Emperor Nikodemos wants Quintos to prove his loyalty. However, Quintos plans to work within the Empire to break the power of the Stone and the clergy who worship it especially, the chief priest Baalshillek, who wants to control the entity in the stone and rule the world after the Emperor has conquered it.
Rhenna, Cian, and Tehva overcome many obstacles to recover the Hammer that was meant for the Godborn Cian, a Bearer who in the near future will use the weapon in the war against the Exalted, those gods who wanted more power than their peers and were encased in the stone when they lost the battle. Rhenna and Tehva with Nyx's help once again journey to the secret city of New Meroe where the prophecies are written down about the upcoming war. They also hope to find where their hidden weapons are located because they need them to defeat those who kill In the name of the Stone, their high priest and the emperor.
Susan Krinard has written another fantastic quest filled fantasy where it is hard to tell friend from foe and the protagonists are at the mercy of the various gods they come in contact with. There is plenty of action and a touch of romance in HAMMER OF THE EARTH but the heart of this novel lies with the characters who though they live in a fantasy world have the same qualities as readers. It will be hard to wait for the next installment in this stunning series.

Book Description
Climate variability has major impacts in many parts of the world, including Australia. Developments in understanding of the El Niño - Southern Oscillation Phenomenon have introduced some skill in seasonal to inter-annual climate forecasting. Can this skill be harnessed to advantage? Or do we just continue to observe these impacts? How does a decision-maker managing an agricultural or natural ecosystem modify decisions in response to a skillful, but imprecise, seasonal climate forecast? Using Australian experience as a basis, this book focuses on these questions in pursuing means to better manage climate risks. The state of the science in climate forecasting is reviewed before considering detailed examples of applications to:
- farm scale agricultural decisions (such as management of cropping and grazing systems);
- regional and national scale agricultural decisions (such as commodity trading and government policy); and
- natural systems (such as water resources, pests and diseases, and natural fauna).
Many of the examples highlight the participatory and inter-disciplinary approach required among decision-makers, resource systems scientists/analysts, and climate scientists to bring about the effective applications. The experiences discussed provide valuable insights beyond the geographical and disciplinary focus of this book. The book is ideally suited to professionals and postgraduate students in ecology, agricultural climatology, environmental planning, and climate science.

Product Description
This book is an exercise in deconstruction as applied to a specific archaeological project - the Interstate 75 Highway Archaeological Project. Between 1978 and 1985, the Florida Division of Archives, History, and Records Management's Bureau of Historic Sites and Properties conducted one of the largest long-term archaeological projects in Florida history. The I-75 Project consisted of an archaeological survey of the proposed interstate bypass around Tampa, FL, Phase II text excavations at 13 selected sites discovered during the survey, and Phase III excavations at four sites determined to be eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wouldn't Waste My Time!.......2007-05-27
I almost bought this book until I heard Art Bell interview Ms. Keating on Coast To Coast AM. Fifteen minutes into the interview made me realize that this woman is a complete nutjob! If you like reading the opinions of religious wackos who think that we are all going to PAY for every impure thought that we have, go for it! She reminds me of those evil nuns of bygone days, who used to beat the little boys for looking at the girls and give the girls ugly haircuts so that they wouldn't tempt the boys! This woman is so sexually repressed and puritanical that she told Art Bell that the women who tempt him and cause him to have sexual thoughts will have to answer to God and pay for those sins!
That is about as far as I got in the interview. I wouldn't read this woman's books if she autographed them and GAVE them to me!
Time to read this again.......2006-09-11
Kathleen Keating presents many different areas of interest as she answers the questions: "What are the signs of the times? And how shall we prepare?"
Those emeshed in the day to day world of commerce and confusion seem to always rubbish the book. Don't be so easily swayed.
This book contains information that may be vital to you some day. Think of it in some ways as a cookbook. You won't like every recipe, but one just may be perfection. So you may find in the pages things that do not interest you while at the same time you may find something that is heaven-sent.
Good for a laugh.......2003-11-21
The final warning seems to be that god is going to send a comet to earth to destroy all those who don't believe. However you will be safe as long as you are a true believer. You will be safe from earthquakes if you sprinkle holy oil around your door. You will be able to drink the contaminated water as long as you put some drops of holy water in it. She even conveniently puts a form at the back of the book so you can buy all the holy things you are going to need to survive. The author's evidence is mainly from visionary's and the bible. The rest is all spectulation on her part. Some parts of the book were very amusing however.
Stand Up! Stand Up! Can't You Stand Up For Her?!.......2003-08-26
This book is one of most courageous books I have ever read in my 54 years. It matters little what you say, or promise people. But it very much matters what you DO. And this one woman, a consummate professional investigative journalist is not intimidiated by the evils of bumper-sticker thinkers, mob-mentalities, gone-awry governments, or alleged "religious" bastions of wealth and power. She takes them all on in "The Final Warning." The message is simple: Keep your eyes on the skies, and remember to hold fast to your faith. You will need it -- now, and tomorrow. Our choice (and each of us must make it...) is simple: evil (Lucifer); or Goodness & Mercy (Our Lord,Jesus Christ). Thank goodness, however, Ms. Keating has done the lion's share of work for us by laying down her glove --and much, much more to provide us with help (to light and guide) which could only be distilled from The Divine.
Not Worth the read..........2002-12-24
I heard this author on Art Bell's show 'Coast to Coast'. In the book, only her way is correct on translations of the final days. Actually, the book is alot of gibbish, and more sci-fi/horror than anything. It could be considered a scare tactic to unnerve the populace.
Believe me, this book isn't all that it's cracked up to be. It's really not that good. If you want to read about the New Millennium, read Edgar Cayce, or Nostradamus. They give a more open, more exact way of the new millennium

Christian Theology.......2007-06-09
I give this book 5 stars for the quality of thought, not the ease of reading. One should start reading Bonheoffer with his great "The Cost of Discipleship." It has been decades since I have read any Bonheoffer when he was all the rage. One must remember that he was first and last a theologian, not a philosopher. He is a wonderful expositor and thinker within a Christian framework, so do not expect him to grapple with fundamental questions without his focus on God and Jesus Christ. His is a creationist approach that explains by elimination of certain questions. "Thus it is impossible to ask why the world was created, about God's plan or about the necessity of creation. These questions are finally answered and disposed of as godless questions by the sentence, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." This type of thinking that will not allow question because they are "godless" does not belittle his arguments, but definitely puts him in the camp of the Christian theologian, and he must be encountered there. Bonhoeffer is a journey every Christian should take at one time or another. O yes, he was a German Lutheran pastor whose life is perhaps more interesting than even his writings. Had he not died in a Nazi concentration camp, he most likely would have expanded his ideas even more. Bonhoeffer was open to new ideas within his Christian framework which makes him intellectually appealing, and his martyrdom makes his life an even more powerful demonstration of his ethics.
Let there be a review, and there was.......2005-12-16
Bonhoeffer reads like Plato philosophy. Part of this is due it being translated from German, and part is because he's indeed waxing very deeply philosophical about Genesis. It's fairly amazing he can discuss such a small passage for 144 pages, and at times it feels like he's going in circles repeating himself.
His ideas, though, are intriguing. He reads alot into each sentence individually, and then how it fits into the whole. He finds inconsistencies, and then explains them away. I'm not a religious person, but I feel the book gave me a better ability to understand Biblical literature at a deeper level.
beyond the mundane.......2000-06-13
These are two of the most lucid and insightful commentaries I have ever read. Bonhoeffer moves beyond the usually mundane issues often dealt with when discussing the creation and fall. Instead, he places the focus on God and on how the creation and fall effect our lives as human beings.
Temptation is a poignant counterpoint to the story of the fall. It points the way through the darkness of our everyday lives and to the one who is the Way, the Truth and the Life...Jesus Christ.
The Rhythms and Lessons of Creation.......2000-04-05
If you are already familiar with Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the wonderfully perceptive German theologian who was killed in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945, then this book will serve to deepen your understanding of Bonhoeffer's theology. If this is your introduction to Bonhoeffer, then you are in for a delightful surprise. In his short, but dense, analysis of the Genesis story of humanity's creation and fall, Bonhoeffer asks the reader to view the familiar with new eyes - with our eyes fixed firmly on God, not on traditional readings of Genesis. Creation reveals much about God - our sovereign God of life, who worked and rested, and offered the same blessings of work and rest to us. Creation also reveals much about humanity, our desire to be God, and our guilt about disobeying God. In the course of his delightful book, Bonhoeffer wrestles with the fundamental issues of good and evil, of temptation, of the graceful limits imposed by God, and humanity's "freedom." If you, too, have ever wrestled with such questions, this book will guide you and challenge you in your thinking.
