I loved this book...the stories are very touching, funny, sad and very real. I especially enjoyed the last story, and it is that discription of the Mexican culture that makes me love Mexico. Thank you Daniel for sharing these stories from Tecate. I look forward to reading your other books. Hope to see you soon at Bar Diana or perhaps at Rancho Tecate.

Many thanks to all of you who have read my books and come on-line to say such nice things.
I'm sitting in the plaza watching the ever-changing pageant of color and listening to the sounds of Tecate.I can hear the silvery notes of a mariachi trumpet coming from somehwere. Little frills on an accordion drift across the plaza from the Bar Diana. Ah, and here comes Antonio with his guitar cradled in his arms singing an old love song.(Jurame.) The song evokes memories of Señorita X. Doña Marcelina predicted that one day Señorita X would come into my life. Doña Marcelina practices scatomancy. In other words she's our local poop psychic. For her purpose she uses a duck! But that's another story.
I'm watching Juanito Aldama pushing his Sno Cone cart over near the kiosko. I notice he has more customers than usual. I'm going to hang around to see if I can find the reason for his sudden increase in trade. I can't believe it! If you know the password (he changes it daily) he'll whip up a Sno Cone margarita!!
Mila is waving to me from her table at the sidewalk cafe. She's in black pants and knitted jersey today. The big splash of red over her heart is the result of a silk scarf. She probably has a good story to tell me so I'll say hasta luego for now.

Stephanie Perry Moore writes in a unique genre: Christian fiction. Her style keeps a balance between real world angst and applying moral values to those temptations. "Chasing Faith" keeps the reader moving and turning pages to determine just how the chase will end.

Chasing Faith was an excellent book...I just finished reading it and you know when a book is good you don't want it to end; all I can say, Stephanie, you are Truly amazing! You are an excellent writer; this was the first book I read by you and I can see what I was missing. From the beginning, you captured my attention with Christian's adventurous and dangerous career as an FBI agent; then you showed us how really strong this young woman was both spiritually and physically in the choices she made. I am so glad she found a man like Sebastian...he truly was a gift from God. Thank you for a great read and I will be checking out more of your books.

Volume 2 is a Camp Joy.......2001-08-01
Volume Two of the Legion of Super-Heroes Archives is bright, colourful, campy fun (much of the humour quite unintentional). What a pleasure to soak into this book a little every night before crawling into bed as my dreams could then be populated by giant puppets, a little doll town and severl versions of monsters (usually shaped, like many of the aliens encountered, as some form of lizardy thing). The trouble for the intrpid team seems to orginate often when the Legion rejects a candidate for membership (begging the question of how a team that accepted Bouncing Boy and his super bouncing power and Triplicate Girl with her amazing ability to become three equally useless and identical people instead of simply one can have any criteria for rejecting anyone?). This volume also includes appearances by Supergirl, Jimmy Olsen (as the purple-clothed Elastic Lad) and for high camp charm, the Legion of Super-Pets. The art is appropriate to the stories without dazzling but the real charm is in the unintended (perhaps) smiles the reader will wear entering this romp in the future with some very priceless dialogue by Edmond Hamilton.

Let me clear up something posted by the reviewer from San Francisco. In this volume, you DO NOT GET stories of the Fatal Five, the Adult Legion, or the Sun Eater. The reviewer must have been thinking of another volume. In this volume you get the creation and exploits of the Legion of Substitute Heroes. It's not the best period for the Legion, not even close, but I don't regret buying it. I enjoyed many of these older stories. If this were a stand-alone volume I wouldn't have liked the included choices, but as part of a nine volume set, I think they are representative of this period in the comic's history.

How does one live a spiritually disciplined life? What can individuals do to embrace discipleship and enhance their spiritual growth? These are among the questions tackled by author Richard Foster in his book, Celebration of Discipline: the Path to Spiritual Growth. Of course, Foster has in mind not just any kind of spiritual growth, but specifically Christian spiritual growth.
In the first major segment of the book, Foster discusses inward disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting and study. In the second segment of the book, he discusses the disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission and service. In the final third of the book, he tackles the corporate disciplines of confession, worship, guidance and celebration here yet
The tone of the book is humble and helpful, not preaching or dogmatic. Underlying Foster's recommendations are the fact that spiritual growth is not a matter of working through a checklist but making sure that one's heart is in the right place along with the outward practices.
This book is a classic for anyone wishing to deepen their spiritual life and their relationship with God.

This is a very inspirational book. For an indepth plan to live the right kind of life, this book puts you on the proper track. If you wonder if you are praying and worshipping correctly, please read this wonderful, easy to read, book.
Nothing like pressure.......2007-08-31
Hopefully, readers won't come away from this discouraged about the fact that they're undisciplined sluggards. :) This motivated me to try harder to exercise various elements of discipline, and learning self control is never a bad thing. If you've always thought that fasting sounds interesting but have never been motivated enough to try it, read this.
A Christian Classic.......2007-08-29
For some reason, some Christians today assume that anything that deals with spiritual formation and uses terms like "meditation" is automatically "new age mysticism." This guilt-by-false-association leads some reviewers to dismiss great works such as Celebration of Discipline. Foster, in the historic Christian tradition, offers a biblical path to spiritual growth through the spiritual disciplines.
Discipline is Misunderstood.......2007-08-10
In today's culture, discipline is seen as a dirty word. Not so for Richard Foster. In Celebration of Discipline, Foster reminds us that discipline is a gift that helps us to enjoy our freedom.
In this book, Foster does a wonderful job of making spirituality accessible to the average person and illustrates beautifully that Christianity is a spiritual path. This message is much needed in an age when so many Christian leaders present Christianity as a set of doctrines and rules to abide by. Foster shows that spiritual discipline comes first,helping us to put ourselves right with God so that our love of neighbor has a firm and sound foundation.
Foster helps us to see that discipline is not restrictive but actually frees us to do more. This makes perfect sense. If you want to enjoy the game of tennis or golf, you need the discipline to learn the skills that will allow you to enjoy the game more deeply. Foster teaches us that the same is true of spiritual discipline. We do not discipline ourselves just for the sake of discipline or to make ourselves miserable but rather to enjoy the freedom to live more fully in God.
