Book Description
Edited by Paul Auster, this four–volume set of Beckett's canon has been designed by award-winner Laura Lindgren. Available individually, as well as in a boxed set, the four hardcover volumes have been specially bound with covers featuring images central to Beckett's works. Typographical errors that remained uncorrected in the various prior editions have now been corrected in consultation with Beckett scholars C. J. Ackerley and S. E. Gontarski.
Beckett was interested in consciousness as a form of comedy close to tragedy and logic as a crime. He loved the tension in 'cogito ergo sum' and took a dim view of the connecting word, the 'ergo' in the equation. Cogitating was the nightmare from which his characters were trying to awake. Being was a sour trick played on them by some force with whom they were trying desperately not to reckon. Beckett produced infinite amounts of comedy about the business of thinking as boring, invalid, and quite unnecessary. His characters did not need to think in order to be, or be in order to think. They knew they existed because of the odd habits and deep discomforts of their bodies. I itch therefore I am." — Colm Toibin, from his Introduction

TRUST IN ME . . .
After a traumatic experience, Elizabeth Boyer lived on her strong faith and her "spoiled heiress" reputation. She didn't want anyone to see just how vulnerable she really was. Then she met Jackson Alton, who saw through her games and insisted that she drop the mask and step out into the light.
Jackson didn't want to like the stubborn beauty . . . but he did. He liked Elizabeth so much that he sought her out, wanted her to feel safe with him. While she revealed who she was, Jackson had to find his own identity. But once she discovered the truth about where he came from, would they lose the closeness they'd worked so hard to build?

Very Good book!!!!!!!.......2006-07-01
I love all of Mrs. Welshs books, this one was very intersting and real to me. It is about a young woman who must deal with the issues of her past. She meets a man with a few secrets of his own. I really enjoyed reading this story. It had a good plot and a wonderful ending.
Fantastic Romance!.......2004-01-21
I was very entertained by this intriguing story! A relashionship that started out hateful, turned out to be a lovely story of two people trying to find out what they really needed in life to solve their issues.
Jack Alton finds his birthmother, while Elizabeth Boyer seeks her self-respect, and tries to lose terrible memories from the past. Together, they find what they are searching for, while all along they also find love within eachother.
The story really pulls you in, and it is a hard book to put down. It may bring you to tears, but for the most part you will have a smile on your face!
very good.......2003-03-27
A lot of the Love Inspired books that I've read, felt cliched and out of touch with reality. It's a small book, dished out by Harlequin Publishing. Some of the books in their Love Inspired line (its specifically written for Christians) were a little too hokey. I'm sorry but not all Christians fit the "stereotype" that the world has of them. This book is contemporary, and the characters have to deal with real problems and issues. My only warning is that later on in the book, its revealed that the main character was raped as a teenager, but take heart since it later shows her getting help and going to counseling. The author makes the storyline work.
The book is about an heiress, who meets a young man at a friend's ranch who is looking for his past. The two don't get along at first (which is natural for most romantic books), but eventually fall in love. Family, love, life issues, friendship, this book is very good, and its well written. Its not another "fluff" romantic book.

A DELIGHTFUL ROMP WITH GRANDMA AND HER GRANDDAUGHTERS.......2003-10-24
This is the sweetest idea of a story line. Grandma tries to get all four of her granddaughters to go our on a blind date which will in the end will be culminating in marriage. The delightful ins and outs of the stories have you smiling as you read each one. Romantically and spiritually set, one cannot help but enjoy each humorous and warm-hearted tale.
Refreshing, fun-to-read, HAPPY book!.......2003-08-07
This little book was a drink of fresh water after I've immersed myself for a couple of years in deeper, theological/doctrinal works.. At first I thought the stories might be a little 'too' simple, but they were really sweet; and as they're set in contemporary small-town america, it's really easy to get lost in the stories, and imagine yourself in the girls' shoes. The stories were threaded together very smoothly by the main storyline, which is a loving grandmother who wants nothing more than to see four of her grand-daughters as happily hitched as she. I'll be buying the similar book this week: As American As Apple Pie. Pour yourself some hot tea and enjoy!
Let Your Grandma Be Your Guide . . ........2003-06-17
. . .in matters of the heart. The old girl knows what she's doing. At least, Grandma Lucille does in this engaging Barbour novella collection by a set of both tried and new authors. After moving to a retirement home and left with little to think about except what hillarious slogan to wear next on her t-shirt, she turns her hand to matchmaking for her granddaughters and hits four solid home runs. Not bad for a senior citizen! And lots of fun for readers!
An e-mail sent in haste almost foils grandma's best laid plans in Denise Hunter's The Perfect Match. Forgiveness and honesty turn out to be the best policy.
Watch out, folks. Colleen Coble's A Match Made in Heaven, could result in some unheavenly fireworks if this architect and interior designer can't learn to work together.
Whoops! The mistake's on Melissa in Bev Huston's Mix and Match. Melissa thinks she's a step ahead of grandma in sabotaging her blind date. After she gets through with the poor guy, she's sure he'll never want to see her again, and grandma will be cured of matchmaking once and for all. How can one girl be so wrong and still end up with Mr. Right?
Mattie Meets Her Match in grandma, and in the guy she has picked out for her. An old flame is back in town, but he's got his sister's son to raise and a host of responsibilities. He's not looking for romance. How can grandma get his attention on her granddaughter? Don't worry, grandma knows best.
Get yourself a copy of this one for a relaxing, heart-tugging, grin-pulling read. Even the cover art is a treat.

Parasite Pig.......2007-01-25
Also known as the sequel to "Interstellar Pig". Filled with the same exciting main character, Barney, this sequel continues on the legacy of the game Interstellar Pig.
Barney and his friends start playing the game Interstellar Pig again. But this time, it's different. A new person, Julian, joins them in the game. A new holographic person... who is really a worm in disguise. Later on, Barney and his human friend, Katie, discover that one of their friends is a creature too. As they find out more things that they have never imagined, the game continues on.
I think this is a great book, because it's filled with action and mystery. I would really reccomend this book to anyone, especially people who love mystery and action.

This is the sequel to Interstellar pig. With the same characters and exciting plot, William Sleator really makes this a fantastic story.
Barney and his friends play Interstellar Pig again, like last summer. Only this time, a new person joins in. A new holigraphic person, or worm. Barney's friends are suspicious of Julian, the new person. Later, they find out that one of their friends are creatures too. Barney and his human friend, Katie, begin to explore the new creatures and new worlds as the game begins again.
I think this is a great book because it's very exciting and fantasy filled. When you read the first page, you can't stop, the book is filled with action and mystery, making you want to finish the book in one day. I would definitely reccomend this book to everyone, especially if they like action filled stories.

Galaxy Adventure.......2006-05-04
Barney is out one night walking his dog, Chang, when he's abducted. Julian beams Barney into his ship to take him to J'koot to find the Interstellar Piggy so he can win the game. But Matt abducts Katie, Barney's friend , so he can get the piggy first. Once they reach J'koot Katie and Barney are captured by man eating crabs, who take them to Death Palace to pamper them. The crabs pamper and feed the two teens to make them nice and fat. But Katie doesn't fall for it, she cuts down on her meals for all of the meals are fatening. Barney on the otherhand eats like he's never eaten before, and becomes fat. Julian has a plan for them to escape, but it doesn't work because the parasite in Barneys brain ruins it. While Barney, Katie, Moyna, Jrlb, and Moyna are all disguised as aliens and about to escape out of the Death Palace, when Madame Gondii uses her hormones to make the disguise disapear. Katie and Barney escape from the crabs, lichen, aliens, and the piggy takes the parasite out of Barneys brain and puts it in a crabs body, Mademe Gondii can have her babies.Katie and Barney have the Intersellar Piggy and they get beamed into Julians ship when Soma,Matt, appears but it is too late the piggy has been dumped into a galaxy trash can flying faster than light. I recommend this book to Science Fiction fans who love page turners.
Madame Gondii is a very selfish parasite living in a cyst in Barneys brain. She wanted Barney to get eaten by crabs, so she could escape into the crabs body, take it over, and have her babies. Madame Gondii also didn't like Katie because she had an effect on Barney that made him listen to her instead of Madade Gondii's hormones. Also she sent out tracking hormones to Julian to help him find Barney, who was immune to the lichen, who had the piggy, so Barney could be sent to J;koot where the crabs were.
Barney never knew he had a parasite in his brain until it was too late. All this time when he thought he was acting different it was really Madame Gondii sending hormones through his blood. When Julian and Katie tried to tell him what was making him not be scared of the crabs was the parasite in his brain, she blocked out his hearing. While Katie and Julian are talking about there escape plan they dont want the parasite to hear it, so Barney had to go into his room; he had to force himself to sit there and read a book even with Madame Gondii's powerful hormones.
The crabs seemed so nice to the Katie and Barney when they were really trying to make them fat so they could grill their bodies. The crabs give them a suite, like in a hotel, with two bedrooms, a living room, two bathrooms, and a mini fridge with free snacks; to calm them down and make them feel like they are at a resort and not a Death Palace. Every day Katie and Barney were fed scrumptious fatening meals that any child would love only to make them fat. Also there was a mud bath, steam room, and a pool to keep them busy, when it was really a way to gather their sweat for a sauce for when they cook them.
Parasite Pig is an excellent Sci-Fi book filled with adventure and many aliens and exotic characters. Barney and his friend, Katie, are in for a deadly adventure on the planet, J'koot. Barney thinks it will be a blast until he's captured by the legendary canible crabs. Now he must escape from the crabs and get the Piggy from the lichen before it explodes. I recommend this book to people who love science fiction, adventure stories filled with many surprising events.

horror story.......2004-07-29
mr. sleator took all the old and new characters and changed them from the mysterious, playful, exciting first book to a slightly less interesting, depressing format on another planet. I especially did not enjoy how barney went from being a sweet innocent child in interstellar pig to a cold hearted killer in the sequel.I have questions as to how humans were previously on the planet of the crabs and by the end of the second book it was a little ridiculous that barney should be the only one to undersand the truth about the piggy seeing as how the piggy exhibits such consistent behavior.I felt that the book went from playful in the first book (PG rated) to the new book which could be rated R for violence. The ending was very violent and morbid. I really do enjoy mr. sleator's books since my own teen years but I felt the new book, although good, was too discordant from the first book.
Better Than the First.......2004-03-09
Barney, the sixteen-year-old star of Interstellar Pig, is back. He is playing the game with friends. The game is safe. It is not the real thing. But before he knows it, Barney is sucked into a real game once again.
This time he has a parasite living in his brain that can control his actions to a degree. The parasite and at least one of the aliens wants Barney to travel to a planet of man-eating crabs. To make matters worse, Barney also has to watch out for another player; a girl he really likes.
Barney must combat his parasite, escape from giant crabs, avoid being killed by other players, and somehow make his way home. But will the Piggy let him?
A very nice sequel that times up some loose ends from the first book. However, I would have liked some explanation as to how the Americans and Chinese got to the planet of giant crabs. That detail just stuck in my mind the rest of the book. But still, it was a quick-paces and enjoyable book. Certainly anyone who enjoyed the first one would enjoy this one as well.

Customer Reviews:
Unbelievably Brilliant! I wish I read this earlier in my life........2007-08-27
I started out with Huxley's Perrenial Philosophy and am 3/4 of the way through Huxley and God. The effect these two books have had on my way of thinking about most anything religious or spiritual, and matters of daily existence and reality can't be understated. If asked what my belief is about God, I would recommend that someone read both of these books. No one in my mind has written about God, Godhead, the Divine Ground and our times existant relation to that reality better than Aldous Huxley. I found my self completely awed by what and how he describes the things he does. He makes so much sense out of really complicated verse and Mystical thought, and always has really profound insights to all that he discusses, which is immense. I hope more people find these books and have the same appreciation that I do for Mr. Huxley. You are in for a wonderful read, one that will force you to stop, and make you think about and recognize the enormity off all that he speaks.
At the intersection of Western Blvd and Eastern Way.......2007-08-24
Huxley's brilliance shines in this collection. I do not like to use the word "God" as it has little meaning since the many concepts that people dump into the word are so varied that the word does little to communicate. But with Huxley, a master comunicator, and key figure in the exciting merging of East and West mystic philosophy, the word illuminates. I could use the word sitting down talking to Aldous.
Buy it.......2006-02-24
buy this book. then by The Perennial Philosophy. both will change your life. in a most descriptive way it describes that "All you need is love." A simple but extremely difficult concept to master and live.
A five-plus star book.......2001-11-26
This book is a collection of 26 essays and two poems written by Aldous Huxley during the last twenty years of his life. Each essay is about man's relationship with God, with the environment and with his fellow man. Huxley started out life as an agnostic and, at times, took a sarcastic, almost caustic attitude towards religion. However, certainly by 1939, his attitude had changed, as those familiar with Huxley's later works will recognise. In fact, several of the essays contained in this book appear in Huxley's later novels such as DEVILS OF LOUDON and TIME MUST HAVE A STOP.
Huxley believed that those who wholeheartedly and sincerely seek God will find what they're looking for. He tried to strip religion of all the tradition and trappings to find a common thread running through all religions. What he found was, in part, that God is One and that God is love. In these essays, he shares his methods for seeking (and finding) God. He also shares his thoughts on the destructiveness of misguided religious idealism and nationalism. There's alot of deep thought in this book. I really can't do Huxley justice in a review of one of his religious works. The man was in a class all by himself. I will say that this book makes its readers stop and think. The essays contained in this book are particularly apropos to a warring and terrorism-stricken society such as ours. I especially recommend two essays, "On a Sentence from Shakespeare" and "A Minimum Working Hypothesis". You'll see life differently after reading them.
