Product Description
After he arrived in Europe with the 35th Infantry Division, Murray Leff traded his cigarette ration for a 35mm camera. By hiding that camera under his field jacket, Leff was able to carry it into battle to record some of the war's most heated fighting. Photographs snapped while he crouched in a water-filled ditch show Leff's rifle squad burying their heads in mud as enemy shells come in. Images show a supporting tank on its arrival and later, smoldering from a direct hit by German fire. These and many more photographs are part of this memoir, which records Leff's World War II experiences from Gremercey Forest through the Battle of the Bulge, the Ruhr Pocket and the fall of Germany.
Book Description
Caught in the act: Southwestern wildlife in their natural habitat.
Jack and Anna Childs went hunting for the elusive Southwestern jaguar, but what they found was bigger than the rare spotted cat, and even more surprising. Founders of the Borderlands Jaguar Detection Project, the Childs set up "camera traps," or remote-sensor cameras activated by motion and body heat, along the U.S.-Mexico border. They did "catch" the first live, wild jaguar ever photographed this way in the U.S. But their non-invasive, candid cameras also captured fascinating animal behavior across the entire eco_system. The jaguar, it seems, is a minor figure in a habitat that supports over 20 other large mammals. Black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, javelinas, coyotes, and human beings were also caught in behaviorand misbehaviorcharacteristic of their species. 72 color photos.

Collection of Stories.......2005-04-04
Adult full-color graphic novel. This book contains several stories, all relating to a camera.
The first story is titled "Sense of Modesty." Apparently, a group wants to test to see if "modesty is a natural human attribute or if it's just imposed by law and religion." To test this theory, the come up with the brilliant plan to have a geeky man walk up to strange women in the street and ask to see them shirt-less and bra-less or skirt-less and panty-less for a reward of money (strange thing about that geeky guys hair; one minute it is orangish, then purplish, and then orangish again).
The second story is titled "Three-Breasted Woman from Mars." A group wants to stage a fake Mars invasion. They use a fake space ship and a nude woman painted green and with a fake third breast. All goes wrong, cars crash, people injured, and mobs rioting. Green woman left behind, has to dangle along beneath the fake spaceship. ..
The third story is titled "Crime and Punishment." This story involves a man with a camera that has pretended to film a red-head at a train station until he realizes that he might have gotten her in trouble with the man she was with. He follows after her until she arrives at a house. He points his camera through a window and films the woman being punished by her husband and mother-in-law.
The fourth story is titled "the Set-Up." A rich man wants to have an X-rated video-tape made of him in bed with his wife. He has some film of her already, and so the group he visits suggests using a substitute. A woman is called in to play the part, but through a series of mistakes, a different woman, one of the film crew, ends up on the bed.
The fifth story is titled "Ballerina." This story involves the Miss Italy beauty pageant and a rather flat-chested young woman that wants the chance to perform her talent on camera. The talent: ballerina. The girl was promised her chance, the comedian ran long, and well, it doesn't end pretty. (And why "death" is included in the list at the end).
The sixth and last story is titled "The Ritual." While on board a plane, one of the men of the film crew over-hears an interesting conversation between a woman and a rather pale skeletal man. Apparently the woman will have to be examined due to the believe that she is a witch. The film crew man decides to film the two people involved in the conversation. The film crew man phones his crew and tells them the plan. As the woman and man are checking into a hotel, a man in a costume comes up and says "do you recognize me" (the costume involves the head of a goat or something like that and a long robe). The woman freaks out and the skeletal man states that the examination will have to be more extensive. The skeletal man and the woman walk along a canal, and the priest begins the examination right there. He tells her to strip, walk along ahead of him, and then to immerse herself into the very cold canal water.
Overall, the book has good artwork, and silly little scenes. This book includes: exhibitism, whipping, death, and rituals.
Great spanking scene, indifferent book.......2003-06-28
A mixed bag of stories from the horny Italian carttonist, grouped around the theme of a film company in search of senssational subjects. Stories range from the humorous to the deadly grim. One enjoyable romp has the company set up a luscious blonde employee for a bit of involuntary backdoor action, only to have the trick backfire on the (equally luscious) brunette who planned it. Manara shows atypical restraint in NOT showing the resulting assault in all its erotic glory.
The other highlight, for me, is a scene where the crew unwittingly cause a young lady to upset her husband. He and his mother punish the offending lass with a bare bottom caning, and the crew capture the whole thing on film. This is a really protracted sequence, in which the girl is forced to raise her skirt and kiss her husband while being slashed across the bottom with the cane by his strong-armed mom. The action continues for pages, while hubby continually promises "Just one more", then changes his mind because she moved or something. After a few strokes she is made to lower her panties and the next blow falls on bare skin. And the next. And the next...
The sight of this gorgeous gal sobbing in pain as she is compelled to kiss her man, while bending over to expose her buttocks to the next stinging smack, is very entertaining. And if she knew she was being filmed, I'm sure her humiliation would be even greater!
Hidden Camera no es ninguna maravilla........2000-10-12
Si buscas sexo explicito, no compres este libro.
Customer Reviews:
It's all about labyrinths, & if Zivkovic didn't first get you good and lost, you'd never end up having this much fun........2006-03-02
In Zoran Zivkovic's recent novel, "Hidden Camera," a neurotic undertaker returns home one evening to find that a movie ticket has been left anonymously for him at his front door. He goes to the theater at the Film Archive--now almost deserted because it is a Monday evening--as instructed and finds that the film will be shown only to him and a mysterious woman. The film turns out to be an amateur video in which the undertaker himself was secretly filmed while sitting on a park bench. After the brief showing, the lights come up, and the woman has disappeared, leaving only a ticket for another event that the undertaker is meant to attend later that evening at a used bookstore. So begins an eerie scavenger hunt tailored solely to the undertaker, who then races around his city at night to increasingly unlikely locations where he is presented with one bizarre spectacle after another.
Zivkovic, a Serbian novelist, experiments with science fiction, existentialism, and metafiction and is often compared, appropriately, with Borges and Calvino. And "Hidden Camera" is a wonderful showcase for Zivkovic's talents. Nearly no twist or turn of this labyrinth can be foreseen, and the narrative provides a true edge-of-your-seat experience. Up till the very last page, I worried that Zivkovic wouldn't be able to pull off a real ending, and yet he did. Of course, that ending requires some work on the reader's part. It's fairly abstract, requires interpretation, and assumes that you've been paying close attention to the themes, symbols, and subtext. Even then, the book is a little like a riddle with a dozen possible answers, all of which (even cumulatively) fall just shy of a comprehensive solution. Still I found the climax tremendously rewarding. And Zivkovic gives you so much to remember and reflect on: harrowing suspense, indelible images, and scenes and settings that just keep getting more and more haunting and uncanny.
Of course, this is not a book for everyone. But you're a good candidate for Zivkovic's existentialist scalpel if you've survived, with no serious side effects, Charlie Kaufman's films or any of Kafka's novels.
ZZ's Hidden Camera is Wonderful Fiction.......2005-11-02
What would it take to shake you out of your normal world? How about an envelope shoved in your door that you find on your way home from work that contains simply a movie ticket to a show that very night? And what would you think if when you arrived you were ushered to a seat in an otherwise empty movie theater right next to a beautiful mysterious stranger? As the lights go down and the movie begins you see yourself seated on a park bench reading a book like you often do, but completely unaware that you are being filmed and a mysterious beautiful stranger approaches you and sits at the other end of the bench and gazes at you, again unnoticed by you. Is this part of one of those Hidden Camera shows and are you to be the butt of the joke? And then the show ends and the lights go out and everything you ever thought was real and important will be questioned and things will never be the same.
What follows is a hidden camera view into the mind of the unnamed narrator as he continues on through an event filled night. There are tons of meaning to be gleaned from the symbolism in this story and a romp through symbiotic parallel worlds or alternate reality or visions or dreams or who knows what for sure.
But all along the ride this is just fine descriptive surreal fiction from Zoran Zivkovic that explodes and sets your mind off in new directions.
Highly recommended!!

From the supplier: Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun ruled that CBS could use a disputed tape, obtained through a hidden camera, of conditions in a beef factory in its newsmagazine '48 Hours.' Blackmun overturned the ruling of Circuit Judge Jeff W. Davis. Blackmun's opinion stated that Federal Beef Processors Inc. should have used damages proceedings if CBS had breached state laws instead of attempting to curb freedom of speech. The case has renewed debate about the ethics of using hidden cameras and the difference between news gathering and intrusion.

From the supplier: The press have used hidden cameras to add depth to news stories since the late 1920s. Broadcast journalists began using concealed video cameras only in the 1950s, but their use grew widespread with the development of small, portable units. The popularity of 'Primetime Live,' a television news show, has promoted the use of hidden cameras in cases of investigative reporting where there are barriers to information. However, many have begun questioning the ethics of this method and litigation is on the rise.

Book Description
New York Times bestselling author Jane Feather has won legions of fans and critical accolades for her unique blend of sizzling seduction, dangerous intrigue, and passionate adventure. In this second of two romances featuring two unconventional sisters whose quest to solve the mystery surrounding their lives puts each of them in the path of an irresistible hero, Jane Feather tells the story of a young bride in peril and a mysterious English lord who find themselves at the center of a sinister plot...and a reckless affair.
Kissed By Shadows
Lady Philippa Nielson had no memory of what took place in her bedchamber in the dead of night--nor knowledge of the dangerous plot that put her life in jeopardy. But with a brief touch of his hand and one glance of his knowing gray eyes, Pippa felt a connection to the dark stranger who should have been her greatest enemy. Who was this man who seemed to understand more about her life than she did herself? Why did she respond to his most casual caresses with the most urgent and reckless of desires?
Lionel Ashton had been appointed guardian of both Pippa and the secret she unknowingly bore. And protect this sensuous and fiercely independent woman he would, even from the king himself. But what Lionel knows about Pippa will put both their lives in the greatest danger--even as they slip under the spell of a daring seduction that will turn them into passionate outlaws...and legendary lovers.

The premise made my stomach turn........2006-02-13
I could not finish this book. The premise that a heroine would fall in love with someone who arranged for her rape is more that I can bear. I love to read romance novels but the couple in this book turn my stomach. I quit after 5 chapters.
OK, but less than stellar.......2005-03-30
While not as good as Kissed by a Spy, it's not bad. It presents the intrigue and danger of 16th century England in an absorbing way. Pen is a great character, but I'll agree that Lionel is a mixed bag as a hero. He never becomes quite heroic enough. Most people have a problem with Lionel's part in Pen's repeated, drugged rape; it is a terrible offense, but like most fallible humans, he thought at the time that his restraint was for a a good cause. In the end, had he not stood by, he would not have been around to rescue her. Not pleasant, granted.
This book is not as complete, as fulfilling, as its predecessor. The secondary romance is brushed over (Robin did deserve his own book), and many details are not fleshed out enough.
True to the Time.......2004-06-17
i can understand while readers would be disturbed by the main deception in this novel. i too was disturbed and was wondering whether i would myself could forgive this man for what he had allowed if i were Pippa myself. i think Ms. Feather did an excellent job with this novel. it is gritty, dark and genuine to the time in history that was Queen Mary I regime. Horrible, unthinkable things were committed at her orders and at Spain's orders also. If you had to live through what Lionel Ashton experienced, i think perhaps you could judge what he did. But who of us, in his shoes would not want to crush the man that instigated such crime upon people who were merely thinking freely, and at whatever costs possible? it happens time and time again.
anyways, off my soapbox, this book manages to capture in a light sense the essence of the deceit, the fear, the hope and the living that went on in the mid 1500's and Pippa and Lionel's story, along with Robin & Luisa, make it interesting and brings that time in history to life. i notice that Lisa Kleypas also manages to include in her novels a certain genuineness that seems to be missing in most of this genre. it was a dark time and that shouldn't be glossed over and i feel that Jane Feather is able to successfully pen a truly happy and enjoyable story in a very dark setting. My hat's off to her!
disappointing.......2004-04-05
Jane Feather is a talented author who likes to tackle new and challenging ideas in her books. Sadly, this one just doesn't work for me. The hero is the biggest problem. Not only did he facilitate the heroine's rape, he also chose to keep her in the dark when the two of them were already engaged in an affair. Character development was insufficient, I just can't indentify with the hero's so called tormented past and his reasons for taking part in that hideous plot. The heroine doesn't fare any better either. I don't find myself sympathise with her despite the fact that she was a victim and can't understand why she chose to forgive him. The complete lack of chemistry and the big "ick" factor totally put me off.
Disturbing and truly unromantic plot . . ........2003-08-13
While I generally enjoy Jane Feather's books, I was deeply disturbed by the premise of the novel. The "hero" facilitates the sexual assault of the heroine, and while it is supposedly distasteful to him, his discomfort did not stop him from repeatedly aiding rape. That is NOT romantic. The heroine forgives him fairly easily, and after two other books featuring this character I had truly wanted better for her. NOT well done, Ms. Feather. Not well done at all.

DC Archives...Somewhat expensive, but well worth it!.......2007-04-04
I grew up reading comics in the 60's and 70's...these stories are a little "before my time" but are still incredibly enjoyable...Superman and Batman, unlike today, were still fun. I love the DC Archive books...they take you back to a time when life was less hectic, and not quite so serious. I own about 15 books in this series, and will continue to purchase them...Highly recommended!!!
The Silver Age of Comics.......2005-10-13
This volume reprints World's Finest Comics #86-101 (January 1957-May 1959.) It includes the beautifully elegant cover art by Curt Swan, who for the next thirty years will define the look of Superman. Stories by Edmond Hamilton, one of the best Superman writers, and Bill Finger, who really co-created Batman. Dick Sprang, who drew most of the Batman stories until the early 1960's, did the pencils. Freeing Celibacy
ASIN: 0826418309 |
Book Description
In the 1960s and ‘70s, thousands of Roman Catholic priests left the active ministry to get married. Nothing like this had been seen on this scale since the French Revolution, and before that since the Reformation. Now a different phenomenon seems to be at work: priests who have formed long-time, intimate sexual friendships. These men are not pedophiles or sexual abusers. They are adult, mature men who can no longer find a rationale for a life of obligatory celibacy and enter into responsible sexual relationships. Some of them are straight, some gay. Based on interviews, conducted over a nine-year period, with 50 Australian priests, Priests in Love tells the stories of these priests and their friends. It deals with the moral, psychological, and social challenges they face on the less traveled road of social change.
Customer Reviews:
Read, but read with caution........2006-08-04
This is most certainly an interesting read, however it is not without bias. While, to a certain degree, I have enjoyed reading the individual stories of the priests and their "friends" (an original and creative way to describe the partners of ordained clergy), I find that the commentary that coincides with relayed narrative is much to caustic to be thoroughly enjoyed. While I am not sure what exactly Anderson's personal stake in the issue of celibate clergy is or has been (aside from her admitted personal experience of first-hand knowledge while a parish secretary), it is clear where she stands in regard to the hierarchical church and the institutional structure that - whether it is loved or not - is necessary as part of any functional human institution.
This is definitely a read for those who are secure in their faith in the Roman Catholic Church and are not going to be scandalized to discover that the ordained clergy are human. However, Anderson does not do a very good job at showing any clergy - nearly at all - that are living an integrated and healthy life as celibates! Therefore leading her readers to develop a misconstrued opinion that this is an immediate issue for all clergy, when in fact this is not as much a pandemic as Anderson would have one believe.
Finally, it would seem most inappropriate for me to totally support this book based on what appears to be a soapbox for one author's repetitive, biased agenda, I must admit that this book does tell a story that is often overlooked or ignored however exaggerated the writer has made it out to be. Read, but read with caution.
A compendium of stories of love and restriction, loss and pursuit.......2006-06-07
Priests In Love: Roman Catholic Clergy And Their Intimate Relationships is an account of love and intimacy by members of the Roman Catholic priesthood drawn from Jane Anderson's active involvement and experience in Catholicism for over twenty years. A compendium of stories of love and restriction, loss and pursuit, Priests In Love provides readers with an appreciation for the spiritual, ethical, and emotional issues involved, as well as being an authoritative study of the history of priestly celibacy and the frequent difficulties faced by members of the clergy within the culture and community of the church. A unique work of considerable merit, Priests In Love is very strongly recommended reading for anyone interested in the issue of a celibate priesthood and the issues surrounding the intimate issues of love and relationships within the Catholic community.
