Hot & Steamy! .......2007-09-02
This was the first book I read by Mary B. Morrison. What a great introduction to this author! Its a hot and steamy page-turner with lots of substance.
can't put the book down!.......2007-06-09
This book kept my attention. The Author was very descriptive. I would really suggest you read this book. It was well worth my $$$$. You also have to purchase the follow-up to this book ------> Never Again Once More
A novel that you read more than once........2007-03-01
I was blown away from the various turns and directions this book takes you on. Although the meat of the book pertains to a couple contemplating on taking their relationship to the next level,it provided a spritual context as well. I was impressed with minister in this book. One of favorite parts of the book is when the minister tells the congregation to pick a incarcerated pen-pal to write to. This was my first book I read by Marry Morrison. I will follow up with her next book titled, She anit'the one this spring.
NO BIG DEAL.......2007-01-17
This was my first Mary Morrison novel. This book was kind of ordinary. It was simply just "okay" to me. In my opinion, Wellington was kind of lame. Morrison didn't do a very good job of selling his character to me in the beginning. While she over-emphasized the point of him being financially stable, he lacked personality and maturity. He didn't come across as being "Mr. Wonderful", which is the point I think she was trying to make at first. He even came across as brainless and idiotic. As far as Diamond, initially Mary Morrison portrays Diamond as a strong woman. By the end of the book, she seems weak, and even pathetic at times. Anyway, towards the end, the book was all over the place. Everyone was upset with everyone, whether they had reason to be or not. The ending was a complete blur.
Unrealistic yet a true page turner.......2007-01-08
I recently purchased the book and finished it in an hour.It was captivating yet very slow in the beginning.I kept reading and the characters really developed more as the book progressed. However, some of the scenarios that occur in the novel were quite unrealistic and lead to some disappointment at the end.Overall, the book is well worth checking out and I look forward to reading more of Mary Morrison's books.

WHOA!.......2005-12-16
This novel is full of drama and in my opinion, you can go ahead and classify it as erotica. The main character is a diva, the type of chick teenager girls want to be like. It's confusing at times, but the more you read, the easier it is to understand. ANOTHER WARNING: This book has a sequel, so be prepared to want more of this story. The second part is "Never Again Once More" I recommend this book to everyone who can get the sequel at the same time they buy the first book.

One of my all time favorites.......2004-12-21
This book is an excellent and quick read. It was my first time reading a novel by Mary B. Morrison and was not at all disappointed. Her writing, description of the characters and scenarios are amazingly vivid as if you are there.
Has LOTS of potential!!.......2004-06-28
I read Mary B.'s Soul Mates Dissipate and thought it was great at first. Jada was beautiful, wealthy, etc. After turning down several proposals, she finally finds her "soul mate." Unfortunately, Wellington, was obviously not her real soul mate.
Jada and Wellington could barely communicate, let alone be soul mates. And, you never really find out why they are in love. One moment he is giving her flowers, and the next they're having sex on the beach. She hadn't known the guy but two weeks, and he hadn't even called during those weeks!
Jada is too perfect--Gucci this and Prada this. They probably couldn't keep stock in the store after this book came out. No one is that perfect.
I like that Jada is confident that she is in love, but again, she has a funny way of showing it. She claims that she's got it going on and that she knows when something is wrong, but she can't even sense when another woman is creeping up on her man. Melanie is the 36-24-whatever hoochie that belongs the the "Right" faminly as Wellington's mother puts it. Jada ends up having this NASTY threesome with Wellington and Melanie. Now how could you share your soul mate with just ANY ole body??
The sex scenes were really raunchy. It's all about chocolate thighs and sensuous lips and ughhh, just nasty. If you like hardcore porn, get some Zane in your life. That'll keep ya interested.
This book confuses love with sex. I think that it is ridiculous that she even got published. Some of writing is childish and elementary.
I only feel bad because the book had SOOOO much potential. I just wish there was more romance and that Jada wasn't so superficial. She was always in that mirror!
I just didn't see the love in this book. Where is the LOVE, y'all?
Excellent Book.......2004-05-17
I really enjoyed this book. I read alot of books, and I think this one measures up to some of the best. Highly recommended.
A Tad Unbelievable.......2004-03-30
This book was an interesting read, however I found it unrealistic and unbelivable and irritating at best. The two characters were imo not soul mates whatsoever. If ever I character I disliked in a book, it was this guy Wellington. Being written as all that, didn't convince me that he was. He wasn't! As for Jada I wondered, after the huge mistake she made, I wondered what kept her thinking about this man. It bothered me to read her confusion about this relationship. (...) I was disappointed in the woman she thought she needed to be, the one that thought Wellington was worth the time of day.

good read.......2007-07-06
4 Great stories .........As always Tushonda storie was funny !!
I enjoyed them all they all tugged at my heart strings Smile
I think I enjoyed The story about Jovie and London the most , I like the way it was written with the lil facts thrown in here and there. I also felt like I was counting steps with jovie as she was walking Smile Very well written.
I'm kinda of late on this one but if was good.
New Beginnings.......2007-06-08
If you enjoy various stories from various authors - please read this book. It is very interesting and a page-turner.
Sit back and enjoy the ride!
Great short reads.......2007-05-14
If you you don't have a lot of time and want to get in a quick story, this is a good book.
Enjoyable Read.......2006-09-12
I really bought this book due to "Whatever It Takes". I really like the story because I can definitely relate. "Dangerously In Love" was another story altogether; I just kept having this feeling that Joy/Jovie were the same; but I kept reading the story hoping that perhaps the ending was different; Old dog(London)thought with his johnson on that; then in "My Boo", why would it take for you to go half way across the country to realize that the person you are with was not for you? Interesting read.
Good Read .......2006-07-08
I really enjoyed all of the stories in this book. This was my first time reading Ms. Whitaker's work. I liked her use of the fill in characters, Mr Marcus and JuJu made me laugh out loud.
Ms. Thomas has written hotter novels but I wasn't disappointed. Ms. Winslow adds a different twist to the typical love story and lastly, Ms. Poole gives a good example of the grass not always being greener.

In Ben Bova's 1992 bestselling book Mars, geologist Jamie Waterman and his crewmates discovered the existence of primitive lichen on the floor of the great Martian canyon known as the Valles Marineris. In Return to Mars, Waterman is headed back to the Red Planet, this time in charge of an expedition that hopes not only to study Martian life but also to prove that exploring Mars can be profitable. Waterman also wants to revisit a part of the canyon where he thought he spotted a primitive cliff dwelling during the first Martian mission. The second voyage to Mars runs into trouble right away, however, as Waterman clashes with Dex Trumball, the son of a billionaire who's backing the expedition. Dex wants to turn Mars into a tourist attraction, while Waterman wants to preserve the planet for scientific research. Both men are also attracted to the expedition's beautiful psychologist, Vijay Shektar, who can't seem to decide which of the two she likes best. As if that weren't enough, one of the Mars team may be trying to sabotage the mission, while back home the elder Trumball is pulling strings in order to force Waterman to step down as the expedition's leader.
Like Jamie Waterman, Bova takes on a lot of responsibility in this second Mars book. He's trying to create a complex story that relies equally on science, characterization, and politics, mixed in with a healthy dose of mystery and a dash of thriller. As usual, Bova nails the science but fares less well--though by no means poorly--with his characters. He pulls off the politics with confidence, but the thriller subplot seems forced. Finally, the mysteries (there are several) all succeed reasonably well, though some are more compelling than others. The whole makes up a thoroughly enjoyable novel both about what life might be like on an expedition to Mars and what Martian life might be like. It's a better book than its predecessor, and it can be read entirely on its own thanks to Bova's carefully interwoven details about the back story that took place in Mars. --Craig E. Engler
Book Description
Six years after the first manned Martian expedition, a second has been announced -- one motivated purely by its profitable potential -- and half-Navajo, half-Anglo geologist Jamie Waterman's conflicted soul is beckoning him back to the eerie, unforgiving planet. As commander of the new exploratory team, he will have to contend with a bitter and destructive rivalry, a disturbing new emotional attraction, and deadly, incomprehensible "accidents" that appear to be sabotage, all of which could doom the mission to failure. But there is much more at stake than Waterman's personal redemption and the safety of his crew. For there are still great secrets to be uncovered on this cruel and enigmatic world -- not the least being something he glimpsed in the far distance during his first Martian excursion: an improbable structure perched high in the planet's carmine cliffs; a dwelling that only an intelligent being could have built.

Customer Reviews:
The next generation of ERB heroes for his Barsoom.......2005-12-16
The first three volume of the Martian series of Edgar Rice Burroughs focused on how John Carter, former cavalier of Virginia, made his way to the planet Barsoom (what we call Mars) and won the hand of Dejah Thoris, princess of Helium after having to repeatedly rescue her from one danger after another. "Return to Mars" collects the next trio of ERB pulp fiction adventures in the Barsoom series, which focus on first the son, then the daughter of John Carter and his beloved princess, and then introduces a new visitor from Earth. Consequently, it is we the readers who return to Barsoom rather than John Carter. He might be a minor character in these new stories, but each reflects the combination of romance and pulp adventure that worked so well in the first three.
"Thuvia, Maid of Mars" focuses on a new hero, Cathoris, son of the Warlord of Mars and his beloved princess. Cathoris is one of two princes and a Jeddak who are seeking the hand of the Thuvia of Ptarth. When she is kidnapped by the sinister Prince Astok of Dusar, the entire planet is about to be thrown into a bloody war and Cathoris has to follow in his father's footstep and deal with savage beasts and phantom armies as he rescues Thuvia and saves Barsoom from a costly war. Of course, by the time he catches up with his beloved, Cathoris finds the situation is slightly more complicated than he thought, mainly because ERB never provides a smooth ending for his couples. In many ways this is like the previous novel, "The Warlord of Mars," where the hero chases his beloved across the landscape of Barsoom and has to deal with green men and white apes. Fortunately, unlike ERB's Tarzan series, "Thuvia, Maid of Mars" is really the only time that repeats himself like this in the Martian series, which stands out as his best as he proves in the next and most inventive volume in the series.
"The Chessmen of Mars" is arguably one of ERB's most imaginative stories. This reputation rests on two things. The first is the relationship between the Kaldanes "heads" and the headless Rykors who are the "descendants of exceedingly stupid humanoid creatures bred by the Kaladane over eons for strength, health, beauty and microcephaly." True, this makes no sense from an evolutionary standpoint, but it is one of the more imaginative parasitic relationships in science fiction history. The second is jetan, the Martian version of chess, which is usually played on a 10 x 10 game board of alternating black and orange squares in the cities of Barsoom, but in the city of Manator is played with living pieces in a giant arena. Of course in the living version of the game a moving piece is not guaranteed a square but has to fight for it.
The framing device for "The Chessmen of Mars" is told by John Carter on a visit home to Earth to see his nephew. Over a game of chess Carter tells of jetan and the adventures of his daughter, Tara of Helium, in Manator. As was the case with the "Thuvia, Maid of Mars," ERB introduces a new hero for this adventure in Gahan, Jed of Gathol. Dancing at a royal function in Helium she has her eyes set on Djor Kantos, son of her friend's best friend, but he is interested in somebody else. When Gahan declares his love for her, Tara throws a fit and we know these two are meant for each other. Taking her flier on an unadvised flight during a Gale, the princess ends up blown across Barsoom and as happened with both her mother and her sister-in-law, her hero has to track her down and effect a rescue. The combination of the Kaladanes jumping from one Rykor to the next with the jetan game to the death is quite captivating. For many readers of ERB's pulp fiction yarns "The Chessmen of Mars" is a favorite and while it has the standard hero rescues beloved plot that is a Burroughs staple it is layered with all this interesting stuff.
For "The Mastermind of Mars" Burroughs introduces another new hero as American Ulysses Paxton crosses the void between Earth and Barsoom to become the chief assistant to the red planet's greatest scientist. Paxton, a Captain in the U.S. Army, is fatally injured on a World War I battlefield and then transported to Barsoom, in the same way John Carter made his first trip to Mars. In what strikes me as an attempt to further explore the brain switching from previous novel with the Kaldanes and Rykors, ERB's pulp fiction story has to do with human brain transfers performed by the title character, Ras Thavas.
Early in the novel Paxton witnesses the scientist transferring the brain of Xara, Jeddara of Phundahl, in the body of a young girl. Now called Vad Varo, Paxton becomes the bodyguard and assistant to Ras Thavas in the city of Toonol, and falls in love with Valla Dia, the young girl whose mind is now in the ancient body of Xara. Our hero helps Ras Thavas transfer his brain to a younger body as well, but extracts a promise from the scientist to help restore Valla's body. Of course, just to make things interesting, Valla is the daughter of Kor San, Jeddak of Duhor, so once again ERB's damsel in distress is Barsoomian royalty . The remainder of the novel follows Vad Varo's attempt to restore his beloved to her own body, which is complicated by a series of brain transplants that alternately help and hinder his effort.
The brain switching angle is rather interesting, and actually makes more sense than your standard "strange alien device transfers consciousness between bodies" that we usually find in such science fiction stories, but "Mastermind" is pretty much an ERB potboiler where everything is resolved in the final chapter. This second Martian trilogy is not as great as the original one, but "Chessman" makes it worthwhile.

the return.......2007-10-10
I wish it was as good as the first. His latest book does not hold your attention nor grab you.I pick it up and read some and put it down and start another book and then return to his book and repeat the same proceedure over again.
The .......2007-10-03
Boyd concludes his three book series in a spectacular way. His imagination mixes technical authenticity with science fiction in a way that made me as a "rocket scientist" wanting to believe it the whole way through. His conclusion kept me on the edge of my reading chair. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Boyd and he is an impressive man with great moral values to go along with his writing talent. I look forward to his future works.
Slightly Disappointing Ending to the Trilogy.......2007-08-08
I felt that this book, while reasonably entertaining, failed to deliver the excitement and uncertainty provided by the first two books in the series. It seemed all along like everything was going to work out fine, and very little happened during the book that surprised me at all. The problems that do arise are worked out very quickly by the main characters in the story, without much suspense or action. There are very few surprises during the course of the plot, which was disappointing after the various shocking events in the first two books.
Overall, the read was still enjoyable. As I noted in my reviews of the first two books, Boyd does a fantastic job of explaining his view of being an Evangelical Christian without forcing it down the reader's throat, and he does it in an entertaining and believable (for sci-fi, anyway) way. John Wells is a character that is easy to relate to, and his struggles seem real. The characters surrounding him seem believable as well, which helps the reader understand Boyd's perspective in writing the book even more clearly.
Interested reader.......2007-07-30
this book was very good. It was a great finish to the triligy. It was actually the best book of all three. I enjoyed it.
Great read!.......2007-07-10
I haven't read the first few books so I didn't really know what to expect when reading this one. I loved how interesting all the parts of the people were. It made me want to keep reading knowing how each person's story would turn out, if they would make it home, if they would be found. I loved how Austin manages to incorporate God into his book without it being shoved into your face. He makes you really think about the impact that God has on your life and how he really can help you to overcome anything. If only we all had the attitudes that the good people in the book portrayed. Now I definetly want to read the rest of his books!!!!

Book Description
Bringing Home a Piece of Mars will bring together in book form, for the first time, all credible and accessible information on previous robotic Mars spacecraft and detailing all projected plans for future piloted and robotic Mars Sample Return (MSR) missions. The roots of future exploration extend back to the 1960s and ‘70s, to programmes such as the cancelled Voyager Venus-Mars programme; the highly successful Mariners 4, 6, 7 and 9 spacecraft; the Soviet Luna sample returns missions, Mars missions and Phobos probes. More recently, interest in a Mars Sample Return has been heightened by the exciting results of Mars Global Surveyor, Mars Pathfinder/Sojourner, Mars Odyssey, and the Mars Express/Beagle 2, and Mars Exploration Rover missions now underway. Drawing on key interviews with MSR planning participants and Mars scientists, this is the first-ever overview in one book of MSR and related issues such as planetary protection, and the mission's role as a precursor to future piloted Mars exploration. It provides a unique insight into the history of Mars Sample Return and its future implementation, a critical mission in the exploration of Mars and the search for life elsewhere in the Solar System.

Book Description
The most intimate conversation yet with the world's most famous holy man.
When Victor Chan first visited the Dalai Lama in the 1970s, he assumed that, since he is a member of the race responsible for destroying Tibet, the Dalai Lama would treat him with disdain. Instead, they developed a close relationship, out of which Victor was able to pose some of the most personal questions ever asked of or answered by the Dalai Lama.
From the conversations in The Wisdom of Forgiveness, we discover under which circumstances the Dalai Lama believes he could be capable of violence; how the experience of profound spiritual insight feels in the body and mind; how he learned to love those who anyone else would consider an enemy; what his personal fears are; what the heart of a holy man looks like in medical tests; and how a highly developed spiritual person experiences pain.
The Wisdom of Forgiveness takes these two friends on journeys from India to Ireland; from the former Czechoslovakia to a pilgrimage to Buddhist holy sites. If you've ever wondered why we love the Dalai Lama so much, this book makes it clear by placing us in the presence of a great being.

A big nada, zip, zero.......2007-10-01
I have read 20+ books on the topic of forgiveness, and this book offered me nothing, nada, zip about forgiveness that I could take away and apply. Perhaps the book should have a different title. At any rate, I hoped for some bread, but ended up with nothing but chaff.
The wisdom of change.......2007-08-19
I enjoyed this book for its supreme wisdom and forthright application of certain practices to invoke change from within. While this book is filled with nuggets of wisdom, a brief composite looks like this, "to reduce hatred and other destructive emotions, you must develop their opposites--compassion and kindness." Unlike other spiritual books, this one provides authentic practices to accomplish the goal. The Dalai Lama provides insight into engaging breathing exercises and guided meditations to overcome the hegemony of the mind which is sometimes locked into its own agenda to hold on to past hurts, and hatred. Like all human transformation, no easy way to achieve good results, reminding us that authentic change takes hard work. While I see the praxis offered in this book differently than other spiritual teachers who simply promote love in word for the sake of bringing home the bacon, the Dalai Lama has consistently demonstrated in word and deed that his praxis is in alignment with his deeply held values. Something I don't think you will find in other spiritual (New Age) books when measured against the lives of those who write them. In other words, this book delivers the goods in word and deed by a authentic spiritual Master grounded in compassionate action. It also reminds me how far I need to travel in this life, and perhaps many more before I walk in these shoes.
Enlightening Read.......2007-01-05
"The Wisdom of Forgiveness" is a read that will fascinate accomplished Buddhist practitioners, interested fans and those who have never even heard of the Dalai Lama. The language is easy to understand and the read can go by quite quickly. Do not be fooled though: the book handles such deep topics as emptiness, compassion and of course--forgiveness.
Especially for the price that Amazon is offering, you can't afford to pace this up. Such an uplifting story of the heart, "The Wisdom of Forgiveness" will open your consciousness and your heart.
A Slow Reveal.......2006-06-13
Like a flower opening with time-release photography, Victor Chan slowly reveals the character, daily routines, spiritual honesty and generosity of His Holiness the Dali Lama as he travels in Asia and Europe for over three decades (from 1972 upon their first meeting to 2004 when the book was published).
The beauty of Chan's book is a meld of de-coding of high spiritual teachings such as impermanence--often translated in the West (somewhat misleadingly) as "emptiness"--and a sense that we are a pet mouse in Chan's breast pocket, listening to his heartbeat as it is altered by searching conversations and interviews with His Holiness.
A press conference in Prauge,The Dali Lama's inner shrine in Dharamsala in India (the seat of the Tibetan government in exile), experimental subject in the West, leader of conferences dwelving into the interweaving of meditation and science, walking the Peace Line through the war zone in Ireland, surving a serious illness on the road, laughing backstage with Archbishop Desmond Tutu on Nobel Peace Laureate presentation day--these are a few of the places and roles presented in the vignettes offered up in these intimate conversations and journeys.
Victor Chan is guileless and does not posture to impress. This self-acceptance witout worrying too much how he will look serves "The Wisdom of Forgiveness" well. We the readers can thus identify with Chan in all his humanity as he depicts the holiness of a great man shining through a human face and body.
Chan's writing is lucid, filled with telling detail and description that makes the pages fly by. Unlike other reviewers here, I had no expections, and thus was merely delighted by "The Wisdom of Forgiveness"--with my views on important teachings such as interdepence clarified by their simple exposition and modeling on these pages.

Great View of a Great Person.......2006-03-28
This book gives an amazing view into the life of his holiness the Dalai Lama. There are questions posed that relate to everyone's life and relate to all of our daily lives. I recommend this book for anyone that wants to understand why forgiveness is so important to our health.
