If you've ever searched for the perfect wedding, graduation, birthday, or Valentine's Day gift then look no further. I've been a huge StoryPeople fan for about 7 years and every time I read one of the stories I can relate to it in some shape or form. I highly recommend any of Brian Andreas books as well as his prints (see www.storypeople.com). It will change your life too!

Wonderful whimsy..........2003-06-06

...with a bit of a bite. These "stories" are little vignettes or even aphorisms that are just off-center enough to move your own thoughts sideways. Some are emotionally touching, some provocative, some just amusing. ("I think I'm having a heart attack, she said, but it's dragging on for hours. I told her not to worry. That's how most people who work a full day feel, I said.") A great little read that doesn't feel stale when you read it the second or third time.

To quote Dr. Phil. I certainly get this artform and love it. I ran across this book today in a little store on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. I had not heard of this artist before and while looking through some of his artworks, noticed the book which I had to have after page 1. I started looking at the the book and know I will eventually collect all of Brian Andreas' work.

Good Mystery, average romance.......2007-06-05

What's a man to do when he is hounded by his family to marry? Well, he could invent a wife. And that is exactly what Alexander Denford does. He creates Emmaline to keep his family at bay. Imagine his surprise when said wife materializes in London. She is ensconced in his home tallying up bills and even corresponding with his family. Alex is perplexed on so many levels. Who is this woman? How does she know about his imaginary wife? Most importantly, how is he going to get her out of London without revealing that he has never had a wife?

Even though these questions should make a completely engrossing romance novel, I never really embraced these characters. Emmaline was your typical, "I am not a stuffy simpering aristocrat." I had a hard time warming up to her. Was she a grifter, a prostitute, a milk maid? What drove her to impersonate a woman? Alexander was your typical overly stuffy, stiff upper lip nobleman. He was at loose ends and was no match for the heroine. She deserved someone stronger. The mystery of Emmaline was what drove this story much more than the romance. I sped through the book trying to discover the heroine's identity and just how she knew about fictitious Emmaline. Her relationship with the hero was on the backburner. In fact, this makes a better mystery than romance. I give it 2 ½ stars.

Dashing and full of Charm...Witty.......2006-05-25

I just finished reading this book. It is the first that I have read of Ms. Boyle's novels, and I must say I loved it. Alex creating a bride only to his surprise she comes to life and turns his world upside down.

I won't reveal much since Amazon gives you a description of the book. There may be some out there who think this book is dull because it is not based how life was in those times, but people it is fiction and they are written for our enjoyment.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves romance. Since this book was great I am on Amazons website looking for more of Ms. Boyle's novels. Until then, happy reading.

What a fun book...and never a dull moment!.......2006-02-10

There is never a dull moment in this fast-paced tale about a rather conventional nobleman who is thrown headfirst into life - and love - by the adorable fraud posing as his wife. Alex Denford, Baron Sedgewick, is a wealthy man but has a reputation for leading a rather dull and economical life. The only provocative thing Alex has ever done is to pretend for the past five years that he has a wife, when in fact he does not. Alex is able to pull off the ruse by pretending that his wife, Emmaline, is sickly and must live in seclusion. One fateful day, Alex returns from an extended trip to discover that Emmaline has suddenly materialized and is ensconced in his London townhouse. His professed "wife" is gorgeous, effervescent and the picture of health, and she has taken his world by storm. She has redecorated his dull and stuffy house into an inviting home, has made best friends with the neighbors, and is loved by all his servants. Emmaline privately admits to Alex that she is a fake, but she will not tell him who hired her, and pleads with him to let her stay as his wife for another two weeks. Although his first thought is to evict her, Alex realizes that Emmaline's sudden disappearance will raise too many questions now that she has so publicly been seen about town. Besides, he is undeniably attracted to her and more than a little curious. So he agrees to two more weeks, knowing full well that his life will never be the same.

This is my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Emmaline is a lively and fun heroine, but one that definitely retains her femininity. Alex is very endearing as the reluctant "husband" who soon can't do without his wife. In fact, his and Emmaline's growing enthusiasm for each other is the best part of the story, although the servants' intrigues and machinations run a close second. This story is a delight to read.

The MOST FUN I've ever had reading! 10 STARS .......2006-02-06

I LOVED Something About Emmaline! I could not put this book down. Yes, the story is a little far-fetched, but so what. It was so much fun and I was thoroughly entertained.

I love the way Ms. Boyle writes. I normally skim through the boring parts of books, but there truly weren't any. As a matter of fact, I re-read parts that I especially enjoyed (and there were many of them!)

If you want to lose yourself in a fun, laugh-out-loud romp, with lots of twists and turns, then this is the book for you.

plot too dumb for words.......2006-02-02

I enjoyed reading "This Rake of Mine". But this story, well, was unreadable. It is the idea behind the story that frankly makes it too stupid for, in my opinion, anyone to even find remotely enjoyable. Why in the world would Alex, Baron Sedgwick, allow an unknown female to stay in his home? People - he had absolutely NO IDEA WHO SHE WAS!! And he lets her stay? This is, plain and simple, too stupid and unrealistic to be believed. The assumption that he was so overcome by lust or something like it is degrading to him and to the readers. I like my hero's smart, not idiots. Emmaline's deception is silly. Okay - I can stretch it that she might be able to pose as his "wife" while Alex is not there to house herself while she figured out her next move or better yet, pretend she is a distant relative of "Emmaline the wife but would realistically do so quietly...not rack up bills and redecorate his home. I mean, what sort of person goes into strangers home and decorates it with out his or her leave? That person is not someone I am interested in at all. They are succinctly put, not nice.

Best Book I have EVER read in my life.......2006-12-09

I really, honestly wish I had come across this book about 10 years ago. It would have prevented me from going through 10 extremely difficult years of ups and downs, never fully understanding why I was continuing to fail. Bouncing from job to job, and dealing with a whole array of negative experiences. Little did I know until reading this book, is that I was creating those conditions and experiences for myself. This book opened my eyes like no book has ever done so before. It's beautifully written, easy to understand, very easy to apply, and it's the kind of book that would change the state of affairs in this world if everyone HAD TO read it.

I can't say enough good about this book and the instant results it will bring.

It seems as though there are a lot of people out there who seem to think that God is kind of a tyrant. That God is sort've on the begrudging side. I can't help but form the picture of this big, huge anthropomorphic man in the sky wearing a "wife beater" T-shirt, holding a beer can, and having a three day's growth of beard on his face snarling at the world, "Damn fool kids...what...do they think I'm made of money?"

Is this the kind of God Jesus referred to as "Abba" which literally means, "Good Daddy"? I don't think so. God is never withholding. In each and every moment of creation, God, the Living Spirit is filling every bit of space with Grace, with Beauty, with Wisdom, with Plenty. If you find yourself living "without" it's because you haven't gone "within".

I love this book by Murphy. I love the way he writes. It's all so simple to him. Change your thoughts and you'll change your life. Abra Cadabra. Poof! Your wish is granted. But because most of us have "grown up"...in other words, we have let veils fall over our innocent eyes we stop believing this thigs really could be this simple. We think we have to work hard for our money, that some people get all the breaks, that it's all in who you know....and I'll have to concur with this statement...it is all in who you know...and did you know that God is our Infinite Source?
Did you know that God is Love and Love is God and all of God's Love is within you and around you now giving you every good thing? Did you know that, huh? huh? huh?

I believed in the lies for years. I thought I was born under a bad sign. I thought that there just wasn't enough and yet I professed to believe in God. The only God there is, is the One of our "own making". We forget that we are made in the Image and Likeness of Spirit, of Abundance, of Wealth, of Plenty and so we make God in our image and likeness; stingy, withholding, spiteful, ignorant of our wants and needs...that's not God...that's a reflection of the human race and it is time to change this thought...

Get this book and read what it has to say. Let it move you, let it inspire you, let your mind and your heart and your soul open up to plenty and really, really want it, expect it, allow it AND want it for all others. You read right...if you really want to be rich and prosperous and fulfilled in every way, you have to want everyone to be rich, prosperous, and fulfilled in every way.

He says the same thing that Murphy is saying, that thoughts are things, that what we imagine will come forth, that it's not a question if whether or not our intentions will manifest, the real question is, "What are we intending to create right now?"

And that is the secret...it doesn't matter what has been, what matters is what are you willing to believe and accept and embrace and embody right now. I want to be a millionaire...that is my intention...I want to be a happy, successful, fulfilled millionaire AND I want all of you reading to be a millionaire. I do not have permission to use Steve Pavlina's words, so I will give you my own...

In a wonderful and beautiful way, I now allow $1,000,000 or more to come into my life and into the lives of everyone who holds this intention with me. Today, we accept, embrace, and embody the Truth that God is Love and that God's Love makes all things possible to us and through us. We accept riches, abundance, and wealth of every kind. We are inspired to bring forth what is ours to bring forth and even now we express, extend, and experience the abundance of God in all we think, do, and say and so we let this be and so it is.

Repeat these words of Spirit, these words of Life, these words of Divine Activity until you feel something within burning. "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he." (Proverbs 23:7). Prosperity, health, and happiness are a product of our thoughts. This book explains how your thinking has got you where are today and that in order to change your conditions you must change your thinking. Easier said than done. This book is a blueprint on how to change your thinking to become more prosperous, healthy and happy. It expounds upon biblical truths and while it is a very spiritual book, it is not religious. Anyone, from any religion, even an agnostic can use the truths in this book to change their life. I refer to this book daily and have found it to be a catalyst to my own fulfillment and happiness.

I have a few books by this author and his philosophy has been consistent. I like his books for their simplicity (his directions are very easy to follow), and his approach to the widest possible audience. If you are interested in leading a richer, fuller life, this book serves as excellent guide. It is an easy to follow, spiritually based instruction manual for acquiring riches. It is also a relaxing and enjoyable read.
