It's the dawn of the Great Tribulation, "the bloodiest season in the history of the world." After lying in state for three days, Nicolae Carpathia has risen from the dead. As the world responds in awe, statues of the potentate and "god" are erected in every major city, and a new religion, "Carpathianism," is in full swing. Followers of the antichrist are branded with a loyalty mark on their right hands or their foreheads, and "vaccinated" with a biochip embedded with personal information. Those who refuse the mark take a one-way trip to the guillotine. The second coming of Christ is only three-and-one-half years away. But can the Tribulation Force hang on?
"The God who calls you to the ultimate sacrifice will also give you the power to endure it. No one can receive the mark of the beast by accident. It is a once-and-for-all decision that will forever condemn you to eternity without God," writes Tsion Ben-Judah in his daily newsletter with its cyberaudience of more than a billion. Heavenly power may be the only hope for the Tribulation Force, as it struggles to survive amidst new terrors, the death of more loved ones, and some unexpected twists in its plans.
The Mark: The Beast Rules the World is the eighth installment in the blockbuster Left Behind series. Rich in dialogue, this action-packed thriller delivers the same consistent mix of apocalyptic mayhem and quirky humor readers have come to expect from the pen of Jerry Jenkins and the prophetic interpretations of Tim LaHaye. --Cindy Crosby
Book Description

Just one more book in the all-encompassing, enthralling, and utterly absorbing Left Behind Series.......2007-09-14
From the very first letter of the alphabet that my eyes looked upon inside this series of books, until the very last period of the very last sentence, I was hooked. Each one of these books absorbed my attention like no other book has ever done in my life. Biblically sound, theatrically entertaining, and brilliantly written, the Left Behind books will inspire you to dig into God's word and take the pieces of news from your T.V. screen and match them right smack-dab up with the prophecies of the Bible. Your hair will stand up, your heart will race, and you will find yourself helplessly caught in the suspense. Once you finish one of these books, you will desperately race to your computer screen or your local library to pick up the next one!

I liked it!.......2007-05-21
Yes, it was an easy read. I have read the whole series and never spent more than a few hours reading it. Still, the plot made it irresistable. That being said, the "Left Behind" promoters have left no stone unturned and parlayed this into an industry unto itself, like "40 Days of Purpose" or TBN - buy the audio tapes, buy the tee shirts, join the club - and, hey, don't forget to buy a nice Christian coffee mug and bumper sticker while you're at it! My husband calls all the little extras "Christian crap"-- and I tend to agree.
If you want a good, fast-paced, easy-to-read story, with some theology thrown in to boot, read the book, enjoy it, and bypass the cofee mugs and tee shirts! If you just HAVE to spend money, send a donation to the Gideons so they can put a Bible in someone's hands, or send it to Operation Christmas Child or some other worthy cause :)
great book.......2007-05-13
this is one of the most exciting books of the series it keeps you thinking and feeling the emotions of the characters i love these books and recommend it to everyone

Prolific Jane Feather launches another lively trilogy, this one set during the English Civil War (mid-17th century) and featuring the first of three misfit girls who pledge their friendship and mutual distrust of men. Portia Worth, a bastard offshoot now dependent on the marquis of Granville for support, is mistaken for Granville's daughter and accidentally abducted by Rufus Decatur, Granville's archenemy and leader of a militia group whose purpose is to support the king against Parliament and avenge the wrong done to Rufus's family years ago. Both outcasts, Portia and Rufus develop a mutual understanding and admiration that blossoms into heartfelt passion. But Rufus's need for revenge puts Portia precariously on the opposite side of a battle he's determined to see through to the death. Readers will love the well-drawn characters, both major and minor; action scenes that move swiftly and vividly; and Portia's humorous plot to vanquish a particularly vile male villain, which may leave readers laughing out loud. An especially appealing tale that's sure to raise anticipation for the next book in the Brides series. --Ellen Edwards
Book Description
Dear Reader,
Here is the first of my new "Brides" trilogy, in which three unconventional young women vow they will never marry--only to be overtaken by destiny. Bride #1 is the outspoken Portia....
It's bad enough that seventeen-year-old Portia Worth is taken in by her uncle, the marquis of Granville, after her father dies. As the bastard niece, Portia knows she can expect little beyond a roof over her head and a place at the table.
But it truly adds insult to injury when the Granvilles' archenemy, the outlaw Rufus Decatur, hatches a scheme to abduct the marquis's daughter--only to kidnap Portia by accident.
Portia, who possesses more than a streak of independence as well as a talent for resistance, does not take kindly to being abducted--mistakenly or otherwise.
Decatur will soon find himself facing the challenge of his life, both on the battlefield and in the bedroom, as he contends with this misfit of a girl who has the audacity to believe herself the equal of any man....
Warmest wishes,
Jane Feather
P.S. Phoebe, the "awkward" one, will be next, in The Accidental Bride. Watch for it in early 1999.

cute, but not groundbreaking.......2006-07-24
This book was a cute, sweet and very typical story. We've heard it all before, girl has bad upbrining, finds outlaw (who really isn't an outlaw) falls in love and had to choose who she is loyal too. Mistakes are made and mean things are said. There is nothing new or unique to the plot of this book. I will mostlikly not be continuing with the Bride trilogy.
That said, this book was a nice book to read, there was nothing that made be really want to put it down for good, but also nothing to keep it on my collection.
The Hostage Bride.......2006-07-20
The book was an excellent choice.I can hardly wait to read the other 2 books that connect with this one.
First of an English Civil War series - good one-time read.......2002-05-20
At the beginning of this book we meet the three young girls who are the heroines of this series: Portia, Phoebe and Olivia. This introductory scene appears in all three books, just in case anyone's missed it.
Portia is the bastard daughter of the Marquis of Granville's bastard brother. When her father dies, Granville offers her a home within his household, but he isn't that interested in her, and his wife, Diana, makes it clear that she is to be an extra servant, helping take care of the infant children. Olivia, Granville's daughter from an earlier marriage, befriends Portia, however.
An old enemy of the Granville household, Rufus Decatur, former Earl of Rothbury, has sworn revenge on the family of the man who was responsible for his father's death and disgrace. Olivia is to be kidnapped and used as a bargaining tool. However, a mistake is made and Portia is kidnapped instead. Rufus isn't sure what to do with her, so he keeps her prisoner.
However, Portia then decides that she wants to train and to join his militia as a soldier - even though she knows that Rufus intends to attack her uncle's household! That part was difficult to swallow; war is a serious business, and even if Portia isn't particularly loyal to either King or Parliament, the thought of striking against her uncle's home, and especially her cousin, should surely not have come so easily to her.
Like another reviewer, I wasn't convinced by the 'falling in love' part of the book, and the resolution in particular was unconvincing.
Finally, Rufus at one point used the term 'bourgeoisie'. Isn't early seventeenth-century England a little early for that term to be in common currency, since it's normally associated with the French revolution?
loved it.......2002-04-27
i loved this book it had alot of elements that make up my kind of book. i mean Portia was not classically beautiful but had fire in her which made for great dialogue between her and the mischievious Rufus, i think miss Feather did a good job on this one.
A WILLING HOSTAGE?.......2001-07-12
THE HOSTAGE BRIDE is the first in the "Bride" trilogy by Jane Feather, followed by THE ACCIDENTAL BRIDE, then THE LEAST LIKELY BRIDE.
THE HOSTAGE BRIDE is the story of Portia, one of three friends who vow together to always remain friends and to never get married. Portia is a "double-bastard" teenager who wants to be a soldier and wants nothing to do with men in the biblical sense.
When her father dies, Portia is taken in by her uncle, Cato Granville, a rich Marquis and his wife, Diana. Portia becomes an inseparable, good friend to Cato's daughter, Olivia; but while she is clothed and fed by the Granvilles, she is treated as the bastard niece that she is.
THE HOSTAGE BRIDE takes a major turn when Rufus Decatur, sworn enemy of the Marquis, attempts to kidnap the Marquis' daughter, Olivia, but accidentally kidnaps Portia instead. A relationship develops between Rufus and Portia that neither anticipated, but neither can deny.
This is an excellent book is about friendship, loyalties, civil strife, passion and romance.

Pretty good......for a romance novel.......2000-07-28
I really enjoy this book, and I find myself re-reading it often. Basically, Tamara is a beautiful accountant at a large firm. Bickford Rutledge is her handsome boss(he recently took over the company). He wants her from the moment he sees her. Tamara's mother is dying, and Tamara received a loan from her former bosses, to help with the expenses. To Bick though, it looks like she has stolen money from the company. He fires her, and then tells her that she can either marry him, or go to prison. She, of course, marries him. He treats her rather rudely for awhile, and then begins to fall in love with her. However, there is always that doubt in his mind that she may just be a money hungry trollop. Needless to say, there is a rash decision made on her part, that proves to be a test of their love. This is a good book, even though it is very far-fetched at times.

LEAP INTO THE FUTURE, AND SHOOT BACK TO THE PAST
H. G. Wells’s seminal short story “The Time Machine,” published in 1895, provided the springboard for modern science fiction’s time travel explosion. Responding to their own fascination with the subject, the greatest visionary writers of the twentieth century penned some of their finest stories. Here are eighteen of the most exciting tales ever told, including
“Time’s Arrow” In Arthur C. Clarke’s classic, two brilliant physicists finally crack the mystery of time travel–with appalling consequences.
“Death Ship” Richard Matheson, author of Somewhere in Time, unveils a chilling scenario concerning three astronauts who stumble upon the conundrum of past and future.
“A Sound of Thunder” Ray Bradbury’s haunting vision of modern man gone dinosaur hunting poses daunting questions about destiny and consequences.
“Yesterday was Monday” If all the world’s a stage, Theodore Sturgeon’s compelling tale follows the odyssey of an ordinary joe who winds up backstage.
“Rainbird” R.A. Lafferty reflects on what might have been in this brainteaser about an inventor so brilliant that he invents himself right out of existence.
“Timetipping” What if everyone time-traveled except you? Jack Dann provides some surprising answers in this literary gem.
. . . as well as stories by Poul Anderson • L. Sprague de Camp • Jack Finney • Joe Haldeman • John Kessel • Nancy Kress • Henry Kuttner • Ursula K. Le Guin • Larry Niven • Charles Sheffield • Robert Silverberg • Connie Willis
By turns frightening, puzzling, and fantastic, these stories engage us in situations that may one day break free of the bonds of fantasy . . . to enter the realm of the future: our future.

We are all students in the "Earth school," according to authors Gary Zukav and Linda Francis in The Heart of the Soul. And the time has come to create a whole new lesson plan. For thousands of years we were outwardly focused, as we mastered the tasks of cultivating food and building shelter. Unfortunately, we are still outwardly fixated, obsessively accumulating more wealth, material objects, and power. "What enabled our species to survive so long is now bad medicine. In fact, it is poison," according to Zukav and Francis. What we need now is an inward focus, in which we cultivate the heart and live in alignment with our souls.
As it turns out, The Heart of the Soul is a timely guidebook, with a release date exactly three months after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. "The pursuit of external power produces physical violence and destruction between nations. You can see this in every newscast," the authors write:
Billions of people live in poverty, are hungry, and suffer oppression, and brutality. Changing these circumstances requires our hearts. It requires the ability to feel the pain and joy of others, and to take their needs as seriously as we take our own.
And here is where the heart lessons come in. "As long as there are parts of yourself that reach outward to make you feel safe, valuable, and loved, you need to identify them and heal them." The authors include numerous exercises and activities to help readers feel and understand their emotions in order to "empower the soul" and live a more rewarding and joyful life. The words and intentions are indeed poignant and worthwhile. The numerous boxes, diagrams, and passages in bold print create a self-help structure that some will find simplistic and others will find inviting. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
"THE LONGEST JOURNEY YOU WILL MAKE IN
YOUR LIFE IS FROM YOUR HEAD TO YOUR HEART."
With the rare combination of profound psychological insight and deep spirituality that has already drawn millions of readers to his two great national bestsellers, The Seat of the Soul and Soul Stories, prizewinning author Gary Zukav now joins with his spiritual partner Linda Francis to help us develop a new emotional awareness that is central to our spiritual development.
In The Seat of the Soul, Zukav brilliantly set forth his fundamental concepts, explaining how the expansion of human perception beyond the five senses leads to a new understanding of power as the alignment of the personality with the soul -- "authentic power." In Soul Stories, he showed how such concepts as harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life express themselves in other people's lives. Now, in The Heart of the Soul, he and Francis take the next major step forward in showing us the importance of emotional awareness in applying these concepts to our own daily lives.
Customer Reviews:
Its the content.......2007-05-08
Wrote this as a comment to a negative review but did not realize it wouldn't show on the main page, so here it is again.
Hi, The book is simple, the principles simplistic because our soul development is simple. Yet, we make the same mistakes over and over again. For me therapy is only the very beginning of the journey. Its through therapy we learn we have an emotional defense systems. However therapy fails ultimately if not followed through with soul development. If you believe in a higher self at all, its best to understand who and what we are from a higher perspective. Getting on top of the EGO is one of the hardest things there is to do because its the EGO that is in charge of us 99% of the time. This book guides you, if you practice its principals you may awaken to the truth. However, if not this book, you might like "The Disappearance of the Universe by Gary Renard", it can read as fantasy but its content might grab you. If not, so be it, your on another path. One thing for sure we cant get to where we are going alone, everyone will be there regardless of their our personal journey.
You have to read this book with your HEART, not your head........2007-04-27
I immediately purchased this book after reading Seat of the Soul (a book which resonated for me with every word.) I guess not many people shared my experience but Heart of the Soul basically changed me at the very core of my being. Reading this book brought forth an immediate change in how I process the experiences of my life and brought me in direct touch with my inner wisdom. I went through (and am still going through) a transformative experience of purging my body, mind and psyche of painful blocked emotions and negative patterns. It has been an unsettling, sometimes frightening experience (why doesn't he mention the physical symptoms that can come with unblocking ones energy centers?)
IF you are ready, and you actually DO what the book suggests, this can be a road to spiritual development in the truest sense of the word. Are you willing to truly FEEL your emotions and ask them what they are trying to tell you? Are you willing to pull yourself down into them and look at what is at the root? Are you willing to face the saddest, most painful and frightened parts of your personality? Are you ready to take responsibility for what you have been creating in your life and for what you continue to create in each moment? Are you ready to LET GO?
Personally, I no longer feel the need to experience anger, frustration or self-loathing - emotions I lived with daily before reading Gary's books. Instead of getting angry for example, I simply feel the *pain* of an experience directly. Something that used to trigger anger, now triggers a brief upwelling of pain right in my heart center. I feel the pain, I recognize it, and I honor it, but I don't need to express it outwardly and spread it as destructive, negative energy. When I got to the root of my emotions, I stopped judging myself, I stopped judging others and I started to allow for the possibility of something far, far greater to enter. I can literally feel my energy centers, especially my heart, transforming and opening.
This process has taken a lot of courage and trust - but I see the path now. I see what Gary means by Authentic Power and just a taste has been enough for me to continue moving forward. In order to walk down this path I also realize I have to lose who I thought I was. I have experienced an ongoing inner battle as my old point of view tries to maintain its grip on me, but I won't settle for less any longer. I won't settle for anything less than what Gary calls Authentic Power. I call it ME.
Importance of Emotional Awareness.......2007-03-19
"The Heart of the Soul: Emotional Awareness, " is written by Gary Zukav and Linda Francis, who is his spiritual partner. It gives important steps in allowing readers the ability to apply concepts regarding spiritual partnership(s) to daily life.
"The Heart of the Soul" will give readers the opportunity to gain greater awareness of their emotions, which allows for personal transformation and empowerment. Another insightful book written by two authors is "Nexus" by Deborah Morrison & Arvind Singh.
Dribble.......2007-03-09
This book is so full of dribble it is hard to get through. I know there are gems of wisdom imbedded in there somewhere, but to get through the dribble to find them is painful to say the least.
Here, this is copied from Oprah's website, maybe this is all you need to know........2007-01-25
A spiritual partnership is a partnership between equals for the purpose of spiritual growth. It requires:
Commitment
Focus on what I can learn about myself all the time, especially from my reactions--such as anger, fear, jealousy, resentment and impatience instead of judging or blaming others or myself.
Notice my emotions by feeling the physical sensations in my energy centers.
Notice my thoughts such as planning my reply, judging, analyzing, comparing and day-dreaming.
Notice my intention such as blaming, judging, needing to be right, wanting admiration, escaping into thoughts, intellectualizing and trying to convince.
Courage
Take responsibility for my feelings, experiences and actions. No blaming.
Practice integrity at all times. This often requires action such as speaking when frightened parts of my personality don't want to speak and not speaking when they feel compelled to speak.
Say or do what is most difficult. This includes sharing what I notice, if appropriate, when someone speaks or acts from a frightened part of her personality. Or sharing about myself what I am frightened to say and know that I need to say.
Compassion
Change my perspective from fearful to loving. Choose to see myself and others in a loving or appreciative way.
Release any distance I feel from anyone.
Be present while others are speaking--not preparing replies or judging.
Conscious Communication and Action
Consult my intuition.
Choose my intention before I speak or act.
Act from the healthiest part of my personality that I can find, rather than caretaking, fixing, teaching, judging, blaming or gossiping.
Speak personally and specifically rather than generally and abstractly. Use "I" statements rather than "we" or "you" statements.
Release attachment to the outcome. Trust the Universe.
If I find myself attached, begin again with Commitment, Courage and Compassion.

Thoughts from the Heart of the Soul.......2007-03-08
This book is an excellent source of meditative thoughts for those who have already read Gary Zukav's books, "The Seat of the Soul," "The Mind of the Soul," and "The Heart of the Soul." Carry it along with you to create moments of contemplation when you are held up waiting---for example in a doctor's office or some other appointment.
