drama.......2007-03-15
This book, along with the other books by carl weber, was drama filled and kept you wanting more!
Straight up Good!.......2007-01-04
I enjoyed this book, this is the third book I have read by Carl Weber, I have read all of the ones he wrote with Mary Morrison. True to form he disects the lives of these 2 women. It was a good read and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Great Book!!!!.......2006-10-26
I highly recommend it. I thought it was very entertaining, it's a book that never get boring. And the ending was great.
Loved It.......2006-07-11
This book made me laugh. I loved every charactor in this book because they remain me of someone I know. Love reading books by Carl Weber
Carl Weber must be married to a white woman because. . ........2006-06-02
The black women in his novels don't have an ounce of sense. He gives the impression that we are all ignorant, star struck, money hungry and ghetto. I hate to break it to you Mr. Weber but not all of us come out of the projects. We do not all embarrass ourselves in public and we don't all stand by men who all but screw the women they had children with in our face. I'm not from the projects. I am a well educated black woman who would enjoy reading about other well educated black women. If I wanted to read about black women being put down I would read the national statistics for diseases. If you are going to write about black women you should be writing about positive images. If you have someone from the ghetto at least have her trying to bring herself up to a higher level. The women in this novel are a disgrace to any race. It's bad enough that the white media has designated black women as the worst of the worst - we have more AIDS than everybody, we have more babies born on crack, there are more of us on welfare, there are more of us with sexually transmitted diseases - I would expect more than this from a so called BLACK man who is making money off of black women. For the people who gave this piece of trash five stars you have my sympathy because you too have bought into the hype of the media. This is my first and last novel by this man. I will spend my hard earned money elsewhere.

Book Description
Even a marriage by proxy can't spoil the joy Lady Amicia MacLean feels when she is wedded to Magnus MacKinnon. With his quick wit and dashing smile, the roguish warrior captured her heart when she was still a girl. It's not until he returns from battle that Amicia discovers the truth: the union was made to fill empty MacKinnon coffers with MacLean gold. Magnus knew nothing of this marriage. Honorable and proud, he intends to rebuild his clan's fortune coin by coin himself - and wants nothing to do with his bonny new bride. But Amicia is not one to give up without a fight. She plans to invade Magnus's bedchamber, offer tantalizing glimpses of what every husband has the right to see, and settle for nothing less than the total surrender of the most stubborn knight in the realm!
Customer Reviews:
Horrible, slow and intensley boring.......2007-02-21
Oh my Goodness! This book was horrible. I have had this book since it first came out in 2004 but never read the darn thing. I hate that I wasted three days of my life on it. The hero was brooding, gorgeous and completely boring. The heroinne was way more interesting but this book was not the right setting for her feistiness. The speech pattern was slow reading and cumbersome. And, the mystery who-done-it was not there. I didn't not give a darn who was doing whatever. I skimmed the last 100 pages just to get through this mess. I am done with this author.
Overrated.......2006-09-05
In all honesty, this was one the most boring books I've ever read! From all the glowing reviews, I was expecting to read a truly great romance novel. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
From the moment I started this book I knew it would be a snoozer. First off, the pacing was sooooooo slow! Moreover, I hated the prolix paragraphs--not to mention the tedious details about the internal conflicts of the protagonists. (Most of these "internal conflicts" went on for two or more pages--superfluous nonsense--which could have been dealt with in one page). Ultimately, I was yawning so much that I was literally teary-eyed throughout the entire story!
Despite my boredom, I thought that the story had its good moments. The very titillating and vividly described sexual descriptions piqued my interest from time to time. These scenes were very well-written, and there was great sexual tension. However, the final act never resonated with the same sexual intensity. (It felt like a good tease left unfulfilled). The romance, on the other hand, felt passionless and uninspired.
All in all, this book was a hit-and-miss--and an utter yawn fest! The protagonists were uninteresting--I couldn't relate to Magnus or Amicia and ended up not caring one whit about them or their story. Contrary to another reviewer's opinion, I don't think Welfonder has an "incomparable" knack for dialogue. (Short and stilted sentences--interrupted by LONG, boring paragraphs--doesn't make for good dialogue--period!).
I don't think I'll ever buy another Welfonder book again. Very disappointed. Two stars.
A Page Turner.......2006-07-25
This book was great. I couldn't put it down. It had all the elements of a great romance. If you want to go to another wedding this summer, pick up The North Kingdom. You won't be disappointed. Lots of fun and romance! Buy both books and have twice the fun at the two best weddings of the year!
A pleasant read.......2005-10-10
This novel takes place in medieval Scotland and I was quite pleased with the use of old english allthough it slows the reading down somewhat. I quite liked the plot, the caracters develops along a believable timeline although the speed exceeds somewhat towards the end, resulting in me only giving this book three stars because I couldn't help feeling the author rushed events too much towards the end, resulting in a collaps of the otherwice nice pace of the book. Still, it's worth reading.
******"One To Watch" ********.......2005-02-15
As I predicted in her first book, she is an author to watch out
for...she just keeps getting better with every book she writes.
This was such an engaging book and I can't understand anyone giving it less than a 5 star rating. You can feel her love of
Scotland with everything she writes. I don't usually go on and
on describing the book and all that happens as for me a review
is to let people know how you felt about the book...."AND I LOVED IT" I am waiting for Robbie's tale with baited breath.

Bright illustrations and funny story.......2006-03-13
In Disney's wonderful animated film Cinderella, we see Cinderella meet the Prince, fall in love with him, and finally get together with him. In the 2002, made for video sequel, we see Cinderella dealing with married life. But, what happened between the two films? Well, open this book and find out!
In this storybook, we see Cinderella preparing for her wedding, with the inaptly named Prudence taking over the planning and making it too large and too grand. But, waiting in the wings is Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, and soon she and Cinderella are making plans (and magic) of their own!
This is a fun book, one that is sure to please the little Cinderella fan in your life. With its bright illustrations and funny story, it is a great book and a sure hit. My youngest daughter loves it when I read this book to her, and we both highly recommend it!

Detect Clues in Gorgeous Illustrations- a unique "mystery".......2002-05-31
Finally - Jane Yolen and Jane Dyer have done that truly rare feat. They've created a unique type story (series) that Adults and young children can enjoy together actively. This would be a delightful tale with deliciously detailed illustrations on its own. What makes this so wonderful is the placing of "illustrated clues" to the solution of the mystery (a theft at the title Wedding) throughout the illustrations. The pictures themselves are intricate and beautiful, it is a pleasure to review them over and over to spot the little details missed on the first read through. The girls liked this best at ages 5-8 but everyone, from baby Ben at age 3 to Nana at age 67 loved to participate. For a treat to pamper yourself (hopefully with a child at your side to help you spot any significant details you might miss), or as a gift to any family with young children who treasure a good read- I would recommend this book most highly. If you haven't read the original "Piggins"- be sure to put it in your shopping cart too!
A delightful and cheering read.......2001-03-18
The pictures and words of this book mold together flawlessly, and the illustrations can provide vital information. The world setting is bright and intriguing, and the characters are lovable and distinctive. The plot is not too long, and everything ties together beautifully. It left me smiling the first time that I read it, and it's even better the second time.

Customer Reviews:
Tale of the Thunderbolt.......2007-10-11
Interesting story, predictable characters. If you like E.E. Knight then you will be happy with this.
Tale of the Thunderbolt is my favorite so far!!!!!!!!.......2007-04-11
I enjoyed Way of the Wolf and Choice of the Cat, but Tale of the Thunderbolt is my favorite so far. Maybe this is because I am not a sci-fi buff. Maybe it's because I dig dark and urban fantasy(where we like a fast moving story-line and sympathetic characters)or maybe it's because the plot is so much deeper and more fascinating.
There were times in this story where goosebumps flashed across my skin. Other places where a lump came into my throat and still others, where I laughed out loud. What I loved most though, I think, are the supporting characters in this book. I grew very attached to some, like Ahn-Kah the 'golden one' and the half-drunk sailor who showed his true metal when the stakes were down. Tale of the Thunderbolt is chuck full of amazing characters. Some good, some bad and others who walk that gray line in between. That's the sort of thing I like to have in my stories.
If you dig fast paced action, suspense and gut-wrenching emotion...you'll dig this book.
Don't be scared by these negative reviews.......2007-03-11
I almost didn't read this despite thoroughly enjoying the first two novels because of the reviews on this site. Am I glad I did! I couldn't disagree more with the negative reviews. It was an engrossing and enjoyable read! The secret weapon isn't an immediate silver bullet, but it's an interesting twist offering hope for the future. What more can you ask for! There are interesting new characters, some of which will be around for awhile. And if Valentine becomes harder in this story, well he faces some hard choices. Any changes in his character is consistant with his experiences. This is war, people! Not some bunny fluff. If you enjoyed the first two novels you owe it to yourself to give it a chance.
Pleasure Cruise in the Carribean.......2006-11-01
This episode of David Valentine has him taking a gunboat to Haiti to find some great weapon. Along the way he has some rather boring encounters. This novel is basically a set up for the next one. There isn't a lot of action, and no suspense at all. Valentine wins all encounters either by luck, lying, or killing. There is never the sense that he is really in any danger.
Most disturbing is some of his actions. Two scenes have him doing things that make him as bad as the Kurians, and are made worse because he doesn't really have to do either of them.
Book 3 is a terrible letdown after the first two.
Different, yeah, but just as enticing........2006-07-31
First of all, this book does take a different spin compared to the first two, but I still found myself glued to it until the very end. And what an ending it was!
The first two books followed the tale of David Valentine learning to use the enhanced senses and physical abilities that were awoken inside him, by a race of good natured beings from another planet, to throw the proverbial wrench into the plans of their vampiric cousins, the Kurians, that have found a way to live forever by draining life "auras", and have now taken control of most of the Earth. This third book takes him on a voyage on an undercover mission behind enemy lines to find a long forgotten weapon on the island of Haiti that will help the rebel resistance sway the battle for Earth.
It definitely has a different feel to it, but I think it's necessary groundwork for a much deeper plot to follow. There are many things introduced, or revealed, in this book that should make for a very interesting plotline in the future.
Though, even with the differences, the storyline in this book kept me drawn in. With it's intense battle scenes, the rich bond between the new characters, and some further insight into the Kurian's inner workings, there was hardly a dull moment.
If you've read the first two already (you are reading them in order, right? ;P), don't let the bad reviews stop you from picking this one up. I read some of them before buying it and almost went into the book with a prejudice, but was pleasantly surprised to find a great read. By the time I finished the book, right before bed, I had to force myself to sleep or else I would've stayed awake for hours starting on VE4.

Neale Donald Walsch grew up fearing God, especially after his mother, a neighborhood mystic, was caught reading cards for a friend. His mother was "trafficking with the devil," according to Walsch's deeply religious aunt, and as a result, "God will send her straight to hell."
That was the start of a relationship born of "fearship," as Walsch calls it. In Friendship with God, Walsh speaks to the struggles he's had learning to see God as a true friend rather than a punishing judge. Like his immensely popular Conversations with God series, Friendship with God is written mostly in dialogue format, modeling how anyone can converse with God. What makes the book especially accessible is Walsh's humble voice that gently addresses most people's confusion and doubts. For example, Walsh talks about feeling squeamish that God knows the shameful secrets of his life. In response, God points out that Walsh has shared his dark secrets with friends and lovers. So why not share these truths with God, who has never judged or punished him, and never will? These types of tender and reassuring conversations give readers the courage to begin their own private dialogues with the divine. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
The first book in a new series by the multimillion-copy bestselling author of Conversations with God.
Neale Donald Walsch has changed the way millions of Americans think about God. His Conversations with God series, book 1, book 2, and book 3, have all been New York Times bestsellers- book 1 for over two years.
The essence of Neale Donald Walsch's message lies at the heart of faith- the sacred place in every person, where he stands alone with his God. Walsch urges each of us to forge our own unique relationship with God, a God who is everywhere and speaks to us in all we do. It is up to us to stop and listen. It is up to us to respond...to begin the conversation. And a conversation is the first step, just as in any relationship, in establishing trust, in building friendship, in creating communion.
In Friendship with God, Neale Donald Walsch shares the next part of his journey, and leads us to deepen and strengthen our own bonds with God. He honors our heart's desire: a closer connection, richer and fuller. A friendship with God.
Customer Reviews:
More than worth the cost.......2007-10-11
I recommend this book. Friendship With God takes some of the basic concepts the author (Walsch) addressed in his original Conversations With God trilogy (books 1-3) and goes more in-depth. He and brings out some new ideas as well. It's well worth reading, but only AFTER you've read Conversations With God books 1,2 & 3.
What the world needs now!.......2007-09-02
So, you don't want to believe the author about it actually being GOD he is talking to?
Well, how do you think the first bible got written? THE SAME WAY.
Pay attention to God's answers, and you will "just know" in your heart that it is God talking.
All religions even atheists would benefit from hearing what God says about religion, the bible and church. It will surprise the hell out of you literally. Open your mind and read it. It has nothing to do with modern day christianity.
I love it I love it I love it!!.......2007-07-23
I had read most of the CWG books, I must say Friendship with God and Home with God are my favorite besides the CWG trilogy. It has many new materials not found in CWG 1,2,or 3. It focuses more on you and God.. how to become friendship with God.. and how to apply this friendship to our everyday life. Neale also talks more about his life stories and more real life examples were presented so that we can better understand God's words. It kept the dialogue format (which i like alot) and Neale raised many difficult questions for God to answer and God answers them with clarity, wisdom, and consistency. After reading this book, i feel so close to God and thank god for his love for each of us all.
Change attitude about GOD forever!.......2007-05-24
This book and others in this series may foeever change you!
thought provoking.......2007-05-08
As with all of the Conversation With God books I think that there is some huge spiritual content in this book. It is well written and easy to read. It has a smooth flow to it. If you read his books with an open mind and just let your instincts tell you if this rings true or not I think that you will be surprised. Read and then listen to the quiet voice inside that is your God center...
