Book Description
Kresley Cole returns with a breathtaking romantic saga of love, honor, and passion unbound -- as a man of duty faces his greatest trial, and a young castaway discovers her greatest desire....
A man noted for his courage and integrity, Captain Grant Sutherland journeys to Oceania to find Victoria Dearbourne, an English girl lost at sea a decade before. He's given her ailing grandfather his word -- as a gentleman -- to find and protect her. But one look at a grown Victoria and Grant has never felt less like one.
Tori relishes freedom, untamed passion, and spontaneity above stifling order. Even more so when a proud, cold British captain arrives to rescue her, though she has no wish to be. As Grant tries to convince her to leave her island home, she begins to see in him a man hungering for more. A man who once laughed. A man who desires her but won't take what she offers.
Grant struggles to control his own savage passions -- and fails, Tori must decide what she wants more -- her unfettered independence or the only man who could tame her wild heart....

Wonderful Book.......2007-08-13
Captain Grant was hired to find Victoria who was lost at sea 10 years ago....
She's been living on an island.
This was a nice romantic/non paranormal book.
Thank you Ms. Cole!
SHIPWRECKED! .......2007-07-31
I like the premise of this book. Heroine is stranded on a deserted island for 8 years and hero comes to her rescue. I liked this book a bit more than its predecessor Captain of Pleasures which was about Grant's brother Derek. I think if someone was on a deserted island since the age of 13 they would have had more trouble than this heroine had coming back to the mainland. She describes a few troubles she has such as using silverware again and not wearing shoes, but I think the author missed out on a lot of funny scenes that could have occurred with this hero and heroine and her adjusting to life away from the island. Overall though I really liked the book and look forward to reading more from this author.
THE PRICE OF PLEASURE.......2007-05-29
I READ "THE CAPTIAN OF ALL PLEASURES" FIRST AND THAT MADE ME WANT TO READ MORE. AND WHEN I READ THIS BOOK IT WAS EVEN BETTER. I LAUGHED, CRIED, AND LONGED FOR MORE RIGHT ALONG WITH THE CHARACTERS. WITH TORI BEING LOST FOR SO LONG AND THE WAY GRANT FOUND HER GAVE IT AN PLEASANTLY SUPRISING TWIST,LOVED IT.
Good writer.......2006-07-24
I always like to read the bio of the author if possible. The ease and flow of her writing amply reflects her master's degree in English. Overall, I found the two characters likeable. But this book is not in the category of books that stay with you and make you wish that it was an actual story of your life.
First, the book requires that the reader suspends reality by believing that a 13 year old girl and a genteel English woman can somehow survive for a decade, and not only survive, but create a habitat of the highest level of workmanship. The girl may be a genius, but I found it hard to believe. Maybe that's why I just couldn't take any of the developing romance seriously because all the early events were unrealistic. Additionally, the young lady just seems to engender love in all that meet her very easily; she is very blessed. That said, you shouldn't bypass the book either if you're looking for a pleasant read. As I've said, the writing is good and after the initial sense of disbelief, the characters are pleasant. The premise of the story is quite interesting...I loved "Swiss Family Robinson" and "Robinson Crusoe." I may try another book by this author. Just the fact that she can actually write in proper grammar is a big plus, which is sadly not the case for the slew of romance books flooding the market recently.
The Price of Pleasure.......2006-07-06
The book is well written, holding one's interest from the start. It doesn't lag, and has very few places with "filler" information.
The style is good, in keeping with the period for which written.

clever erotic tale.......2002-09-14
The taxi that she rides in as a passenger traveling the icy roads of Manhattan crashes leaving Erika Holland in a coma. Her last conscious thought focuses on the smiling face of friend Stuart Dunlap.
In her comatose state Erika thinks back to how she became a Manhattan call girl catering to the wealthy, promoted to a Madam, and eventually CEO of Courtesans, Inc. Erika was a contented spouse whose husband deserted her for Europe and his younger assistant. He threatened to cut Erika off from even child support if she failed to tow the mark. Innocently at first Erika found pleasuring men a delight that also brought in income. Though she can have almost any upper class male she chooses (for an evening) all Erika craves most in the world are the love of her daughter who hates and scorns her, and a smiling individual who deserves better than a fortyish hooker. She has neither as she lies in the coma.
As expected by an erotic tale, profanity and graphic sex scenes are as prolific as some of the charcaters are promiscuous. The story line is told in alternating dialogue, yet much of the plot is a cleverly designed first person account as the audience sees the "flashback" events through the relative eyes of Erika, an enlightened and delightful protagonist. Though the males seem so easily embracing prostitution to the point of matrimony and marriage proposals, readers will gain much pleasure (reading silly) from the entertaining The Price of Pleasure.

Sexy, But . . . ........2002-08-01
Erika Holland is New York's most notorious madam. She caters to the very, very rich and makes quite a killing ($$$) doing it. Her girls (and boys -- after all, sex is an equal opportunity experience!) are all devoted to her. She's got a great guy who loves her who just happens to be the one who got her started in the business (but he's a regular joe, a partner in some international investment firm who is not even a customer!). She's surrounded by people who think being a madam or a prostitute is just like being a lawyer or a doctor. Basically, she's the world's nicest, most stable person who just happens to run an upscale brothel.
One night, coming home from a "date", Erika is involved in a car accident and, as she lies comatose in a New York hospital surrounded by her friends and employees, we learn how she came to be a madam. She was once, in her former life, a wife and mother. Her husband (Rick) was a cookie-cutter investment-type who we know only through Erika's clouded eyes. After Rick runs off to Switzerland with his gold-digging assistant, Sandy, Erika is left with no money, mounting debts, and a teenage daughter who hates her. Rick's coup de grace is focing Erika to choose between having Rick pay for her daughter's education (only in France) or losing all child support if Erika brings Rena back to the States. Erika becomes an escort as a way to make money and finds that she likes the sex and likes the companionship. Eventually, she takes over the whole business from Valerie, who is getting married to a former customer.
While Erika is in a coma, her grown up (and very resentful) daughter, Rena, comes back to New York to find that her mother is a madam. Understandably, she is furious, but in just a few short days (basically, in the time it takes her mother to come out of her coma) she comes around to accepting her mother and her friends. It helps that she has a night of hot steamy sex with Alex, one of Courtsans, Inc.'s hunky male prostitutes.
The problem I had with this book isn't about the sex or about the author's attitude towards sex (which is empowering and progressive), it's simply that these people seem way too normal to be real. There are two married prostitutes in the book (one is Valerie, the former madam of Courtesans, Inc.) whose husbands know about the work and accept it, one woman with a committed relationship (Erika), and one woman who is courting or is being courted by a doctor (who also knows what she does for a living). In the real world, people aren't so accepting of prostitutes. It may be an "ideal" world the author is painting, but it certainly makes the story lack depth. No one sturggles with a conscience. No one passes judgment (which is fine, excpet it's unrealistic). It's just too perky and perfect.
Book Description
For every type of house and for every family's style, there is a perfect porch. Whether you want a quiet outdoor niche where family members can lounge with a good summer read, or a casual front porch that encourages passing neighbors to stop and chat, over the years porch styles have developed that foster these very activities.
This beautifully photographed volume details the porch's illustrious past, from its origins as the portico, or covered entryway, of ancient Greece to its glory days as the elaborate outdoor sitting room of Victorian times. A discussion of different types of porches follows, with notes on the particular character of each.
Suggestions for creating an area for solitude and respite as well as ideas for converting the space into an elegant room for a party include tips on planning for alfresco meals, decorating for festive occasions, and providing the essentials for relaxation.
Pleasures of the Porch also introduces you to the furnishings and accesories of this most romantic of rooms. Bentwood rockers and white wicker settees, string hammocks and wide-striped awnings, floral-washed pillows and heavy Mexican glassware--these are the things that provide comfort and luxury, making the porch a favorite retreat. These chapters reveal which pieces are appropriately sturdy and weather resistant, as well as which are best suited to the ambience of the porch.
Because the beauty of nature is often what draws us to the porch, Pleasures of the Porch devotes a special chapter to potted flowers, window boxes, and other plantings that bring color, scent, and pattern to the porch and surrounding areas.
Filled with vibrant color photographs that capture the enchantment of porch living, this extravagant volume presents hundreds of ways to truly take pleasure in porches.

Could have been better........2004-06-22
I bought this because I read Dragon's Mistress first and liked it. I was disapointed in this story. I didn't like the heroine. He should have kicked her to the curb. I won't be continuing with this series.
Sizzling erotica with good characters and nonstop action.......2003-11-11
The Price of Pleasure is a shockingly explicit romance that features sympathetic characters and an interesting story. This is the steamiest and most graphic novel I've ever read. Joanne Wylde is a master at turning up the heat and keeping it on high. In addition, she knows how to tell a good story with nonstop action.
Calla is a slave on Discovery station in a futuristic world that's been conquered by the powerful Saurellians, a race of super warriors. Sexually frustrated because there are not enough women to go around on their planet yet genetically incapable of finding life mates in women of other races, the warriors who venture forth to conquer try in vain to slake their insatiable lust on pleasure workers in legalized brothels.
When Calla arrives to clean a room at the hostel where most of the Saurellians are staying, she runs into Seth, the Saurellian commander, and he grabs her as an intruder. One thing leads to another, and after they experience the most amazing sexual experience of their lives together, Seth knows that he must have her. But Calla is afraid that her harsh mistress will sell her to an illegal brothel if she's caught, leading to her death, so she lies, saying she's married to a man named Jess (who is really her brother). In disgust, Seth throws her out, but he becomes obsessed, seeking out women who look as much like Calla as possible.
When Jess is unexpectedly shipped away: sold to be a mining slave on another planet-an existence that will surely kill him-Calla must find a way to save him. With the help of her close friend Dani, a highly experienced pleasure worker, Calla escapes from her harsh mistress and refashions herself as Devora, a pleasure worker and Dani's cousin. And who better to buy her services than the man about to leave Discovery station to pursue some crazed renegades: Seth?
Devora and Seth experience internal and external dangers and adventures as they travel through the universe together. There are a number of twists that keep the reader on her/his toes, and s/he knows that a big revelation and blow up is coming even as Devora and Seth fall deeper in love.
The Price of Pleasure is an exciting and emotional read that is well worth the time. Author Joanne Wylde has created a futuristic world that is in itself very intriguing and is the background to more novels to come in this series. My only complaint is that the dialogue is often flat-not as exciting and entertaining as the plot and action. Still, this is absorbing read that the fan of erotic won't want to miss.
Timeless Tales review.......2003-09-15
By TT reviewer Amy L. Turpin
The first time Calla comes into his presence, Seth has to have her. He can't explain it, but he has to have her and they both take their pleasure in one another. Then she tells him she is married. His first thought is to kill the unknown husband and take the lovely Calla for himself, but that is insane. Wasn't it? Oh well. He'll simply prove to himself that she is only a passing thrill. Isn't she?
Born into slavery, Calla knows that if her mistress finds out about the romp with her guest, she will sell her to one of the whorehouses that serve the mining camps. Not a pleasant way to die. When Seth tries to argue against her leaving him, she takes the only out she can think of; she tells him she has a husband. If she known how that one little lie would come back to haunt her, she probably would simply tried to run away from him, but then again, no one cares about a slave.
Circumstances change and Calla finds herself entering into a contract with the fierce warrior, but not as Calla the slave girl. She is now Devora, trained pleasure worker. In reality, Calla is simply a runaway slave and she is using the only means at her disposal to get away before she is caught. Their contract sealed, "Devora" and Seth make their way across the quadrant, Calla in search of the man she knows as brother, Seth for a band of rebels that threaten Saurellian controlled space. During the long months aboard Seth's ship, the two grow increasingly fond of one another, but each holds back an essential part of themselves for their own reasons.
Picking up the pilgrim/rebel, Calvin and his family, the rift between Calla and Seth grows. Calla is appalled at the way Calvin treats his wife and children and she can't understand why Seth seems to enjoy the man's company. Seth, on the other hand, detests Calvin but knows he holds the key to chasing down the pilgrims and ending the threat to his people. He knows Calla doesn't understand, but he can't bring himself to confide in her because of the chance that she could even inadvertently betray him and his people.
When the inevitable happens and Seth finds out the Devora is the slave girl he bedded at the hostel so many months ago, Calla is terrified he will sell her into slavery again. Afraid to trust him, not so much with her fate as that of Calvin's wife, Sarai, and her two children, Calla steals Seth's ship and leaves him stranded with the promise she'll send help.
With so many lies and so much deceit on both their parts, there seems to be no way for them to put the past aside and try to build a future together. That is, until Seth receives some astounding news . . . Suddenly, he sees his lovely Calla in a whole new light and he knows that he will do what ever it takes to get her back.
This book has non-stop action from beginning to end. If not on the battlefield, then certainly in the bedroom . . . or where ever the lovers in question happen to be at the time! Each character comes to life in vivid detail and the way Ms. Wylde describes a slave's existence is enough to bring a rush of moisture to anyone's eyes. This is the first in a series of books and once you meet these warriors and the women who love them, you'll not be able to resist learning more. A definite keeper!
Ms Wylde's Books are Great.......2003-05-16
This is the first book in the Price of Pleasure series. There are two short stories out as well, one is in the anthology Taken. The title to it is Dragon's Mistress and it is actually the second part of the sereies. The other short story is Serendity and it picks up were The Price of Pleasure leaves off. Serendity is part of the Wicked Wishes anthology, which has not been published in paperback yet. Ms Wylde writes with flair and passion. I have read all her stories and have loved each one. Seth and Calla are made for each other even though neither of them are willing to admit it.
Seth can only marry another of his race, so the attraction that he feels for Calla can never be. He is torn between what he feels as his duty and his feeings for this women. After Calla escapes he finds out there are a few women that have the genetic makeup to be mates for his race. When he learns this he is determined to find Calla.
Calla is afraid of becoming a slave again. She hides who she really is, but finds that she cannot forget Seth. Even after she leaves him she realizes that she will never love another man but Seth.
This is the beginning of a wonderful series. Definitely worth reading.
Another winner from Ellora's Cave.......2003-01-22
Joanna Wylde absolutely blew me away with her very first book. She writes like a pro and will please fans of Dara Joy. Joanna Wylde is truly one of the best in Science Fiction Erotic Romance.
Calla is a slave, desperate to escape the life that she has no choice in living.
Seth is a Saurellian who has given up on the hope of finding a lifemate, so he has dedicated his life to serving his people as a warlord and fighter.
Calla and Seth's first meeting is explosive, but Calla realizes that her owner could kill her for sleeping with Seth, so she hides from Seth and begs him not to tell. When circumstances force her to escape and masquerade as a "companion", Seth buys her and takes her off planet. She is going by a different name, and although Seth at first thinks she may be Calla, he is convinced by others that she is truly a pleasure worker.
There time together is hot and sexual but both of them have hidden agendas. Will they be able to work through their secrets and share a life together?
I truly cannot say enough good things about this book. Currently there are two other stories that take place in this futuristic world that are available from Ellora's Cave, and more are planned. I've read the other two and they are just as good, and now I'm desperately looking forward to more in the series. Keep them coming Ms. Wylde!

Lucy has once again weaved a story where the characters have spunk and chemistry. Every time Angelo and Tara are in the same room the heat is enough to trigger the smoke alarm. This is a story about, betrayal, trust and love and how to conquer all the barriers that can come between a couple even if the odds are against them. It's a beautiful story of learning and conquering. Like all her books, this is a keeper.
A gem.......2006-03-06
Wedding Vow Of Revenge is another compelling, sensual tale by Lucy Monroe.
Angelo Gordon is driven to even the score with the man that destroyed his late father's company and drove his mother to take her own life. The perfect plan falls into his lap when his enemy's former lover works at one of Angelo's companies.
Tara Peters has left her life of modeling and disastrous affair behind her when she went to work for Primo Tech. Tara is currently in the management-training program and is floored when the owner Angelo Gordon asks to meet with her. What starts as an all out seduction of Tara gets complicated when Angelo gets to know Tara. Tara didn't want to fall for another powerful businessman but Angelo knocks down all her defenses. Will her love hold when she finds out the truth?
Wedding Vow Of Revenge is a wonderful story of revenge, redemption and the power of love. Lucy Monroe should be on any romance reader's auto buy list.

Trust, Passion and Vengeance all rolled into one........2006-02-16
Yet again, Lucy Monroe takes her readers on a journey not to be forgotten. As I kept reading this book, I felt like I was always holding my breath, will the handsome Angelo make Tara his before she finds out his plans?
Angelo, the handsome, talented and sexy tycoon, well let's just say he's dynamite and yet he holds himself back because of his past. He's afraid to let someone in, yet Tara definitely sneaks in and steals his heart.
Tara's learned never to trust men, especially because of childhood experiences and a recent relationship which left her scared. However, over time she learns to trust Angelo and falls in love. What Tara doesn't realize is that Angelo has a plan of revenge and that he must marry Tara in order to reach his goal. The tables are turned on this couple, when Tara realizes she's expecting and Angelo realizes he's fallen in love.

Book Description
As the Cosmos Unravels
The disruption in the space-time continuum caused by the creation of the "Blue Eye" singularity continues: Thread by thread, the fabric slowly frays and peels away, breaking down barriers between dimensions. As the lines between realities blur, the consequences cascade.
A Sleeping City Awakes
Voyager pursues Tuvok to a long-dormant space station, a place of astonishing grandeur and wonder. Ancient almost beyond imagining, the city seduces the crew with the promise that their greatest aspirations might be realized. Such promise requires sacrifice, however, and the price of fulfilling them will be high for Voyager.
A Mysterious Power Stirs
Unseen sentries, alarmed by Voyager's meddling in the Monoharan
system, send emissaries to ascertain Janeway's intentions. Unbeknownst to the captain, she is being tested and must persuade her evaluators that their contention -- that Voyager poses a threat to the delicate web of cosmic ecology -- is baseless. And failure to vindicate her choices will bring certain retribution to her crew.

Wow..........2007-01-29
This may be Kirsten Beyer's first Star Trek novel, but she really knows her stuff!! And I loved how she tied in little references to actual episodes (ie Deadlock) and also fun Voyager snippets (look for 47!). And after also reading her contribution to the Distant Shores anthology, Isabo's Shirt, she is my favorite Voyager author because she is a Janeway/Chakotay fan, which also comes into play in the book. A great story, though it dragged a little with "Phoebe's" little excursion with Janeway. Sets up the 3rd book nicely. Must read!!!
ST: Voyager String Theory, Book 2 Fusion.......2006-07-13
Star Trek: Voyager String Theory, Book 2 Fusion written by Kirsten Beyer is the second installment in the trilogy called String Theory.
As we left "Cohesion" in a cliff-hanger, "Fusion takes right off where "Cohesion" left off. As Tuvok takes a shuttle for an unathorized flight to the center of the Monorhan system, it is Kathryn Janeway who is the main character in this volume. She is on a quest to learn the meaning of why is there life in this binary system where no life should exist at all. Kristen Beyer does a very good job of hold the story's interest to the reader with all of the different threads floating about in this story. "Fusion" takes the initial story and runs with it, making the reader engrossed and well entertained with the storylines. As the cosmos unravels, Janway is in pursuit of Tuvok as he finds a space station the size of a city next to a singularity that was the second star in the binary system. The space station in powered by the singularity and the crew of the Voyager make quick studies as to what the station can do to get them home to the Alpha Quadrant. With all of its mistique, the space station proves vexing to the crew of the Voyager as they discover a 50 year old spaceship docked in the hanger of the station and no crew to be found.
Later we find out the consequences as to what happened and will it affect Voyager and her crew. This is an interesting storyline woven into the fabric of this book's story. Beyer does a good job holding the readers attention and makes you read on till the end where there is another cliff-hanger making you want to read the third installment "Evolution".
All in all, this is a captivatingly interesting story that is true to the Voyagers characterizations. You feel like you're part of the story and you want to help Voyagers characters solve the mysteries that are presented.
I found the book a fast read with intrigue and mystery, true charactizations and a well-written storyline. This is a solid five stars and you won't be disappointed reading this story. Job well done to Kristen Beyer in her first attempt into the realm of Star Trek fiction. You've capitvatd me as I suppose others will praise this book.
The best Voyager book.......2006-05-13
While I have only reviewed a few Voyager novels on amazon.com, I have read roughly a dozen. "String Theory: Fusion" is hands-down the best.
As an earlier review noted, this novel is Voyager's epic. Instead of using the same old recyclable plots like some Star Trek books do, "Fusion" had a unique premise and managed to juggle multiple plots successfully. Initially, I was quite confused, finding myself faced with too many new characters as well as a complicated plot. Still, this confusion only furthered my drive to continue reading.
"Fusion" begins right where its predecessor ended. Tuvok has mysteriously stolen a shuttle and headed off for an enormous structure in Monorhan space that looks more like a giant city than a space station. Meanwhile, the "key" that was given to Janeway at the end of "Cohesion" has attracted the attention of a powerful species who will go to any lengths to protect their own interests. To top all of this off, an intriguing new technology has the potential to bring Voyager home. (Okay, so we as readers know that's not going to happen, but the crew is highly motivated by the discovery).
In the end, Beyer does not disappoint: she beautifully weaves the various plots and characters together to reveal a unified story. And while Tuvok is on the front cover, Janeway is the main protagonist of this tale. Tuvok and the rest of the crew do play significant parts, but ultimately it is Janeway who must discard her previous understanding of the universe and use this new knowledge to discover the true history of Monorhan space.
The stakes waged in "Cohesion" are raised in "Fusion" as the very fabric of the universe (not just the fate of a single planet) depends on Voyager's success.
This may be Beyer's first Voyager novel, but she has an intimate feel for the characters and her incredible story will leave you wanting more. "Fusion" is a must-read for any Voyager fan. Even if you don't normally read Star Trek novels, give this one a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Voyager's Epic.......2006-01-04
If there's one good thing that stands out about the "String Theory" series it's that it definately carries the tone and weight of an epic. The first novel was fun and great, focusing a bit on the strained relationship between B'Elanna and Seven. This one continues from where "Cohesion" left off, and the focus is on the entire cast. There's a part in this novel for everyone. The crewmember in danger for this novel is Tuvok, while everyone else, even Neelix and Harry Kim, have their moment in the spotlight.
Captain Janeway's life is on the line in this epic tale as the Nacene (the Caretaker race) returns. There's also that classic Voyager plot going on in the background; Tom Paris and Kim may have found a way to return Voyager to the Alpha Quadrant thanks to some alien technology. The ship has encountered an alien space station that holds all the answers to their current situation. It may also lead to their untimely deaths.
I think the strength of the novel comes from it's focus on the entire cast instead of on parts of the crew. There were times when the explanation of the true conflict got a bit complex and lead to some confusion, on my part, but that's the only time that I really struggled to get through the novel. This is definately a great Voyager novel, better than most of the "relaunch" novels put out so far. It really does have a mini-series epic tone to it, up through the end and the final pages when you feel the final leg of the journey/adventure is coming around.
I'd definately recommend this novel to any Voyager or even a simple Star Trek fan. There's a lot of science-fiction at play, something that perhaps the series lacked for a while. Everyone played a hand in saving the day and yet the novel doesn't end on an awkward note. Things aren't all well by the end and the cliffhanger is subtle enough to make you want to read the final installment. This is a great series, one of the best mini-series for the Voyager line of books. Definately recommended and worth your money.
Great part two of three.......2005-12-28
I agree wholeheartedly with the other reviewers who say that this second installment of a Voyager trilogy, is very well written and an improvement over the first one, although I enjoyed the first one as well. Beyer keeps the action rolling and maintains interest by keeping multiple threads of the story going throughout. The story line is more complex and more creative than Book 1 and definitely leaves you wanting to read the third and final installment of the series. With only occasional exceptions ("liberties"), the characters are true to the TV series.
To an earlier comment that this book is fantasy and not science-fiction, last time I checked those terms were synonymous! This story doesn't seem to me to be any more fantastic than just about any Voyager episode. Again, I believe this story, like its predecessor, would make an excellent big screen movie.

The authors, who worked closely with Mother Teresa during her lifetime, have drawn together stories and prayers inspired by the missionary, who worked tirelessly on behalf of India's poor with her sisters of charity. Each day of the year is assigned a brief story or blessing: A child goes without sugar so Mother Teresa may have it; a truckload of bread miraculously arrives for starving Indians when the rice has run out. Many of the passages are quotes from Mother Teresa herself, and all of them challenge the reader to live up to her saintly view of humanity and suffering. If the day-by-day approach doesn't fit, there's an easy-to-browse index, organized by theme ("cheerfulness," "humility," "suffering"). Her standards are high, however, and normal sinners may find her words more challenging than uplifting.
Book Description
A treasury of meditations, prayers, and reflections, one for each day of the year, from one of the most revered figures of our time.
The provocative ideas and touching insights found in The Joy in Loving spring from incidents in Mother Teresa's own remarkable life. She speaks of men and women who have lived and died uncomplainingly, even in the midst of great poverty and deprivation; of wealthy businessmen whose indifference has been transformed into compassion and charity, and of her encounters with people and governments around the globe. Through all of this, Mother Teresa emphasizes the need for a disciplined, loving family life, for "in the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world." Drawing on more than seventy years of selfless service to the poorest of the poor, she discusses the importance of work and prayer, charity and service, the right to life and, above all, the need to love--unconditionally and absolutely.

Hear Ye Hear Ye .......2006-12-22
I purchased this book for my dear mother for Christmas. It arrived in the mail today - damaged - because nothing was put in box on top of the book to protect it. There are no phone numbers given by Amazon so that a person can call to complain. The Help pages on this website say that there is a "contact" line to click on the Help pages, but that is not true. Amazon does not want to hear anything negative..they just want our money. Do we really want to do business with people like this?
Fills the heart.......2005-08-03
I love Mother Teresa's philosophy of life, and a daily dose of her thoughts and prayers do wonders for my perspective in life. I am remembering to smile, pray, love...very touching devotional.
Alive and well.......2005-01-29
Open this book anywhere . . . and your heart is flooded with light. Or, does it affect others as it affects me, I wonder? Is this just a personal phenomenon? After all, I met her on two occasions. Perhaps that has something to do with it? On her last (unannounced) visit to this city, --- she offered me her hand, and looked me in the eye - and hasn't my memory played tricks on me, about that precious moment?
I was one person among 12, waiting on the street, outside her home for indigent men (the first one she established in North America). She emerged from that humble, two-story dwelling on Pritchard Avenue, in Winnipeg's poor north end: My two young sons were the last ones she greeted -- placing her hands on their heads and smiling with love - then, looking beyond them, for the obvious parent or guardian of these youngsters, she spotted me; and she offered me her hand. And I took it - I remember it was warm and her grip was surprisingly firm and . . . well . . . the taste of the air around her was unlike anything I can ever put in mere words. Yet, there are some odd things about my memory of that moment.
I distinctly remember thinking she was beautiful. But how can that be? In photos, she isn't physically attractive at all -- is she? Yet that is my memory of her in the flesh -- radiantly beautiful!
Another odd thing: I remember her as being my height - six feet -- as she looked me in the eye and smiled warmly. Yet in photographs, she looks closer to four foot nine. (Princess Diana towers over her in the last photo taken of the two women together, shortly before they died, within a few days of each other.)
So is it just me? - this feeling that Mother Teresa is addressing me personally each day in the pages of this book? Or does she speak directly to your heart too?
Let's take just three of her thoughts - the ones for yesterday, today and tomorrow. Let this be the test! If they don't speak to you personally, don't buy this book! But if they do resonate within your being . . . then you may agree, this is the "best book of its kind."

The very fact that God has placed a certain soul in our way is a sign that God wants us to do something for him or her. It is not chance; it has been planned by God. We are bound by conscience to help him or her.

We have small `listening groups' of co-workers who go to the homes of old people and sit down with them and let them talk. Very old people love to have someone listen to them and let them talk, even if they have to tell the story of 30 years ago. To listen, when nobody else wants to listen, is a very beautiful thing.

It is easy to smile at people outside your own home. It is so easy to take care of the people you don't know well. It is difficult to be thoughtful and kind, and to smile and be loving to your own in the house day after day, especially when we are tired and in a bad temper or bad mood. We all have these moments and that is the time that Christ comes to us in a distressing disguise.
LOVE COUNQUERS ALL.......2001-10-20
Mother Teresa did not write this as a book of daily reflections, rather it is a sharing by her, in speeches she has made, anecdotes she has related, of her life experiences. In other words, it is real, authentic and practical.
The readings take less than a minute a day, but the idea is one that can be chewed on all day long. I learned from Mother Teresa that the greatest poverty in the world in not want of food but want of love. I learned from her that love is unlimited, is diffusive of itself. When we give love we don't divide, we double. I learned from her not to give just from the tips of my fingers, but of my substance, and of myself.
What wisdom this great lady had, born of her love and her humilty. In summary, this book is a treasure.
A little gold mine........2001-09-08
Day by day, this book gives you a simple thought to carry around with you and put into practice for the rest of the day. It profoundly influenced me, shifting my focus from navel-gazing to other people. It gives perspective and improves the quality of life.
