I loved this book! I feel like these characters are my friends. I find myself rooting for them. An excellent read! Highly recommended!
Tale of politics, love, magic, and adventure.......2003-09-02
What I loved about this book was that the protagonists were very intelligent and resilient (but of course faced insurmountable odds). There was no cheesy evil god or some such like you'll see in some epic fantasy, and that is but one of many ways in which this world seems so believeable and real. Its detailed tapestry of a world in turmoil yet still beautiful is surpassed only in the emotions and depth of the characters.
Now that you're hooked on Eileanan..........2003-02-16
In this second book, Isabeau takes a bit of a back seat, recovering from her ordeal in delivering the talisman, and learning humility and obedience as a servant in the Righ's palace. There is a shift of interest to her twin sister, Iseult, whom Meghan discovered when she visited the Dragons. Iseult, raised by her faery kin on the icy Spine of the World, seems as different from Isabeau as night is from day. where Isabeau is laughing, impetuous, and headstrong, Iseult, raised by a tribe of fierce warriors in a dangerous, snowy land, is solemn and disciplined. Meghan convinces Iseult that she must leave her tribe and seek out her destiny among her mother's people. Meghan and Iseult meet up with the lost prionssa who has been hiding for years, since escaping from his brother's treacherous wife. He is a bitter young man, passionate in his desire for revenge against the Banrigh, Maya the Ensorcellor. Guided by Meghan, he and Iseult set off on the dangerous quest to unite the rebels, depose the Banrigh, and restore the Coven. To do this, they must rescue the Lodestar, an ancient magical scepter which has been locked away since the day the witches were betrayed, and which is dying from lack of contact with the royal family. The character of the prionssa is delightfully complex. Just because he's supposed to be some kind of hero to the people and to us doesn't mean they or we always like him, and it doesn't mean he always does everything right. Some people prefer cardboard cutout characters that are some kind of archetypal representation of an idea of a hero or a villan or a leader or an ingenue. And some people like characters who are made from their experiences, with a dash of nobility of character which makes them strive to overcome their experiences to be and do more. The latter should be pleased. When you finish The Pool of Two Moons, I know you won't be able to wait for The Cursed Towers (so maybe order them both together).
Great book!.......2002-04-15
This series is great, and this book is my favorite of all the others. I love the way the author suddenly switches scenes and we are left wondering what happened to the character, but then we forget about them as we become entrapped in the plot of what's going on with everyone else. Overall, this is my favorite book.
Great Follow-up.......2002-04-13
I was impressed that the Witches wasn't a one hit wonder. This second book was well planned if not a little on the slower reading side. The first book truly focuses on the relationship between Meghan and Isabeau, whereas this second book deals with the relationship of Meghan and Iseult, and Iseult and Lachlan. Again praise for the research of pagan traditions.

Great Author.......2007-05-15
Recently discovered this author through Amazon as a suggestion, you know the "if you liked this book, try this one." I am extremely glad I did and now I am a fan. Her stories and characters hold your interest and you really want to turn the page to see what happens next... I have added a new author to my lists of favorites and I look forward to her next book.
Another winner from Melody Thomas!.......2006-07-18
Melody Thomas is an author that delivers a great read every time she puts a book on the shelf. Her stories and characters are interesting and passionate all the time. I picked up A Match Made in Scandal a year ago from a shelf in a drugstore. Melody Thomas was an author I'd never heard of so I had no great expectations that the book would be a worthwhile read. It turned out to be one of the best historical romances I've ever read. If you enjoy historical romance, you can never be disappointed with one of her books. She rates right up there with Julia London, Gaelen Foley and Julia Quinn.
Complex, deeply moving and worthwhile.......2006-05-06
This well done novel delivers a little more toughness in tone that is refreshing. Not only are the two lead characters unpredictable in the results of their relationship--rare in a romance novel!--but there are a good half-dozen supporting characters each memorable and written with personality and shading. The combination of international politics-Calcutta, India--plus an overlapping story of one of the leads set in Ireland really gives a depth to the writing as well as quite a few giggles when the infamous "F" word is delivered in an Irish accent. Took several times for me to catch that one!! Overall, great writing with a welcome twist.
Entertaining and captivating! .......2006-04-04
First you really NEED to read the other books by Melody Thomas. In My Heart, Must Have Been The Moonlight & A Match Made in Scandal.
The first half of Angel In My Bed not my favorite. David isn't the same David as the one I fell in love with in A Match Made in Scandal. He's cold and a arrogant jerk. I wanted to slap him and say don't you know what you throw away. How can you not see that Meg/Victoria is a good woman. But as the book goes on it the David I fell in love in A Match Made in Scandal. Angel In My Bed what love in a romance tons of DRAMA that flows well and very believable. I HATE books with drama that makes no sense and makes you think what the heck was that about.
This book had everything you need to create a good romance: a dashing hero, a beautiful heroine, a person who always seems to interfere with the hero and heroine, and, most of all...PASSION!
The love story is beautiful, passionate, and the action fast-paced and exciting. Well developed characters lead us through a fast paced story full of suspense and action. Melody Thomas draw me into the story. Engaging characters, attention to historical detail, and humorous dialogue will kept me reading long into the night. The interaction between the leads was great. There is enough conflict to make the story line interesting and not so much that your left wondering why they ever got together.
I would have like to have seen more members of David's family.
exhilarating Victorian romantic suspense .......2006-03-29
In 1873, David Donally is on his last mission for his country before retiring. He searches for stolen loot from a theft in India over nine years ago with the lone clue to its whereabouts a recently surfaced gem-laden earring. He questions Sheriff Skilling who sends his men to attack David. Afterward Skilling visits tall tough Lady Victoria Munro who realizes her past has found her. Instead of the booty he seeks, the earring leads David to the most beautiful woman he has ever known, his wife Meg Faraday, a woman he thought dead back in Calcutta.
Meg cannot believe her luck that the man she has avoided for years has found her and believes others will follow. David demands the truth of why she faked her death while Meg believes he betrayed their love when he pawned her to get at her father, a smuggler. Both still feel the heated attraction, but neither trusts the other. However, neither realizes that if they want to live, they need each other as someone else has plans for the treasure and killing an estranged couple is not a problem for this avaricious assailant.
ANGEL IN MY BED is an exhilarating Victorian romantic suspense tale starring two individuals burned by love as each assumes the other betrayed their relationship. The story line is action-packed as both struggles against their feelings while reluctantly joining forces to seek the jewels and to stop an unknown culprit from succeeding in putting them six feet under. Melody Thomas provides a fine nineteenth century thriller fueled by the distrustful lead couple needing one another to survive.

Book Description
Sound so visual you're literally engulfed by its bonechilling terror! Stephen King's sinister imagination and the miracle of 3-D sound transport you to a sleepy all-American town. It's a hot, lazy day, perfect for a cookout, until you see those strange dark clouds. Suddenly a violent storm sweeps across the lake and ends as abruptly and unexpectedly as it had begun. Then comes the mist...creeping slowly, inexorably into town, where it settles and waits, trapping you in the supermarket with dozens of others, cut off from your families and the world. The mist is alive, seething with unearthly sounds and movements. What unleashed this terror? Was it the Arrowhead Project---the top secret government operation that everyone has noticed but no one quite understands? And what happens when the provisions have run out and you're forced to make your escape, edging blindly through the dim light? The Mist has you in it grip, and this masterpiece of 3-D sound engineering surrounds you with horror so real that you'll be grabbing your own arm for reassurance. To one side---and whipping around your chair, a slither of tentacles. Swooping down upon you, a rush grotesque, prehistoric wings. In the impenetrable mist, hearing is seeing---and believing. And what you're about to hear, you'll never forget.

Audio version review.......2007-10-11
Simon and Shuster has produced an exciting entertainment hybrid, a 3-D sound audiobook that leaves listeners suspended (and in fright) somewhere between a movie and a book. The use of sound effects and audio technology turns Steven King's The Mist into an exciting, entertaining hour and a half audio experience. Voices will come at you in all directions, breathing dimension into the auditory experience. The audiobook production thrusts listeners into an average, all American, town which is suddenly thrashed by a violent storm. What is left in the storm's wake is an illusive mist, and the terror it beholds. Listeners will not be disappointed because The Mist is full of creepy crawlies and fantastic monsters in the dark. If you are looking for not only a frightening story, but an unusual and unique audio experience, check out Steven King's The Mist.
A flawed adaptation.......2007-09-02
This is my favorite Stephen King short story, and I was looking forward to listening to the 3-D sound version. I liked the sound effects, but the wooden acting and the ridiculous amount of product placement drove me crazy. The kid they used has no better acting skills than those displayed in a typical elementary school holiday program. Imagine the sounds of a panicked crowd and then read the words "I want mommy" in a dull monotone, and you'll get the idea. Why not take some of the money from the product placement and hire a decent child actor?
Stephen King uses brand names often in his stories and books, but this adaptation takes that concept to an annoying extreme. Do we have to know that the Cracker Jacks are gone but that there are still plenty of Screaming Yellow Zonkers? If there's a chance to mention a brand name, or to debate between two different products, it's nearly always siezed upon. It's so overdone that it's actually startling when the characters decide to eat "cold cuts" or "hot dogs" instead of naming Oscar Meyer or Ballpark brands.
One character is asked what he's eating, and answers "Sunmaid." That triggers more discussion from the apparently nearsighted protaganist to determine whether he's eating raisins or prunes. (Gotta keep that plot moving!)
I finally gave up when characters began to scream out detailed descriptions of the creatures from the mist in rapid-fire 'terrified' voices: "Look at that! It's got a segmented body the color of burnt flesh tipped with something that could be a sexual organ or a stinger!" I know, it's audio drama, but there's gotta be a better way to do that.
Judging from the other reviews, a lot of people were obviously able to overlook what were to me fatal flaws. If, however, you think you might share my opinion, you can save yourself money by checking this out of your local public library. I'll be donating my copy and re-reading the story instead. Hopefully the upcoming movie does a better job.
Very poor quality.......2007-07-20
I just finished listening to this audiobook and was extremely disappointed. The quality of the audio was just plain awful. I constantly had to keep adjusting the volume up and down. One minute the effects and music are blasting me out, the next, dialog is being delivered that is so low that even at max volume I can't make out what is being said. Some times the actors sound like they are talking from the bottom of a coffee can and sometimes they are clear and distinct. At other times the actors sound like they are 50 feet from the microphone talking to someone who is standing right next to the microphone. You can hear part of the conversation and can only guess about the other half. Don't even get me started on the kid. That's another story all together.
All in all, the story seems pretty good, but the delivery of the story and the low production values just drug it down. If you can listen to it free, I would recommend it, if you have to pay for it, take a pass.
Story good, execution...bad.......2007-01-05
This audio production turned out to be difficult to listen to because of the overpowering use of sound effects. The voice quality in the story was poor also; had to keep turning it up to hear what was being spoken and then quickly turning it down when the sound effects came crashing back. The story is good but the execution of it in the audio version was disappointing.
Mutant insects are on your back this very moment.......2006-09-06
So, it's not your standard audio book read verbatim. That 3-D sound has more than a little to make up for it as this inherently creepy story is played out in you-are-there fashion. The dialogue seems a little canned, but you'll forget that soon enough. The sound of people enveloped together by a mist full of a variety of creepy crawlies will have you mesmerized in no time. And as the story progresses, the characters get richer and the bugs get bigger. You can hear them clicking and clacking, buzzing and biting. You can hear the rising horror of the group trapped inside a small town market. When I say you-are-there, I mean it completely. I listened to this offering on a drive through western Maine, and several times, I nearly slammed on the brakes or screamed aloud because things on the stereo sounded like things whipping and crackling and sizzling around my head. You take a no-bones-about it King creature tale like this one and prop it up with sound effects, you're bound to be slapping at unseen bugs in no time. Perfect for a night around the campfire, a first date or a drive through the woods. Just keep your foot off that brake pedal and keep a really big can of Raid nearby.

With his usual mix of enthusiasm, optimism, and anecdote, Dr. Wayne Dyer is back again to emphasize that we are in control of our life experiences. Quoting everything from the Bible to The Tao of Pooh, he returns continually to his central point: with truth and self-awareness, all things are possible, including physical healing, improved relationships, and great personal accomplishment. There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem dissects what is meant by the word problem and shows us how to achieve our deepest wishes with surprisingly simple suggestions.
Illustrating the possibilities with a variety of stories and letters, Dyer manages to nicely balance the whimsical with the practical. On one page, you'll find straightforward advice like, "If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway." In the next section, you'll find a long explanation of the importance of finding "the potential to keep your field of energy uncontaminated." Some may find this disconcerting, yet it also allows careful readers to search out the particular story or method that works for them. Anecdotes from addicts, parents whose children have died, and hospital patients are strewn throughout the book, as are references to Dyer's previous works and lengthy passages from other spiritual authors. In every case, these stories showcase the power of positive thinking and using those positive thoughts to manifest positive change. Although this attempt at changing the world one thought at a time is not vastly different in tone or message from Dyer's previous works, his fans will nevertheless appreciate it. --Jill Lightner
Book Description
In this inspiring new book, bestselling author Wayne W. Dyer shows us that there is an omnipresent spiritual force right at our fingertips that contains the solution to our problems -- from ill health to financial worries to relationship difficulties. Drawing from various spiritual traditions, especially from the prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi, Dyer helps us unplug from the material world and awaken to the divine within.
The first part of the book provides the essential foundation for spiritual problem solving. In these chapters, you'll read the words of Patanjali, a Yogi mystic whose teachings and practices deeply affected Dyer and informed his realization that the spiritual force is everywhere.
The second half, organized around the prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi, contains specific suggestions to help readers put spiritual problem solving into practice. Saint Francis's legacy is one of love, harmony, and service -- putting our collective energies toward what we are for instead of what we are against. Each of these last seven chapters begins with a line from this prayer; Dyer then goes on to offer specific and practical suggestions for applying the teaching to everyday problems. These suggestions include affirmations, writing exercises, guided meditations, and other strategies for putting Saint Francis's words and the wisdom of this book into practice.
Profound and thought provoking, yet filled with pragmatic advice, There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem is a book about self-awareness and tapping the healing energy within all of us. As Dyer writes, "Thinking is the source of problems. Your heart holds the answer to solving them."

Helping get through Illness.......2007-09-14
This book has helped me get through a harsh diagnosis. I think it would be a great gift for someone who is facing any troubles but especially illness. It has saved me on many days. I am a counselor and will use so much of his wisdom for my clients. You do have to get past his ruminations, but they only further hammer home his points.

Very Soothing Thoughts are Presented by DR. Dyer .......2007-05-25
This book is so invigorating, so soul inspiring.I just can't say it all..this book has helped me many, many times.
When a friend mentioned her mother being quite ill, I gave her the book. I was told her mother was exceptionally inspired by the book throughout her illness and recovery. .well she must love it as it was not returned.that's alright, I'll definitely buy another copy.
I highly recommend this book to people who are happy and also people who are dealing with struggling, pain or any sufferings. It is hard to imagine, but a book CAN BRING COMFORT and wisdom in need.
Another great book by Wayne Dyer! .......2006-12-21
I enyoy reading Wayne Dyer books - not that they give me lots of new information; but he packages what I already knew, or thought and felt I knew - in a wonderfully inspiring way. This book is another of his great works and another along the journey that he has taken his readers on who have read his other books. Well worth reading and also gifting to those you love.
The Solutions are hard work!.......2006-04-12
This book is a great one by Wayne W. Dyer. It really hit home for me spiritually. I recommend this book to any one who is interested in spiritual growth. I have read this book over and over again and each time I get something new from it. I think it is really balanced. I like to flip through the pages at night and randomly pick a paragraph to read before going to sleep, then I meditate on it for a short while. I give the book 5 stars for being so positive. There is so much negativity out there, it is good to take a break from it and try and change MY view or judgement of it all. Thanks Wayne Dyer for this book! :-)

Contains material that will be helpful and inspiring to some.......2007-07-27
All of these spiritual self help books can be helpful to some and not, to others. I have always regarded Wayne Dyer as a populizer. I have not heard much that is original from him but he has a good nose for digging out gems of wisdom from other sources and bringing them to the general public in a way that most people can relate to. This is a true service.
I admit, here, that I have not read many of his later books, read some of the early ones and have seen him many times on public tv.
I picked this up in the library and found a lot that was genuinely useful to me. Much of it was a rehash of what I'd heard elsewhere but put in a new way that stuck me differently. I like all of the illustrations of how he and others have put these principles to work.
At times, though, I felt he was just grinding out another book, cuz that's what he does. Maybe he just needs a better editor or maybe he's so popular now that they let him write whatever he wants to. I thought that he made some of the statements too blithely--like making things seem too easy. Like "affirm your faith over your doubt" "give up fighting your problems" "you cannot have God and have faith too." As one who has tried for a lifetime to live by such principles, I don't find it always that easy.
There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem - Philosophical Review.......2006-11-01
I will have to say that I do not believe that problems are illusions or can be treated as such, for that is treating the symptoms and not the cause. I think what Dr. Dyer is trying to say here is that we do tend to make too much ado about nothing. Dyer presents love, peace and hope in many different ways to reach many different people. He is sincere and his empathy with the human condition is real. I agree that God is from infinity a part of us, rather than trying to connect with him.
Trish New, author of The Thrill of Hope and South State Street Journal.
Provides you a Solution to Every Problem.......2006-06-29
Excellent book, great reading. Ending up purchasing 5 books to give to friends and others I have crossed paths with in life.
too much contradictory thinking.......2005-11-13
Dyer has an empire and I suppose he deserves it. Frankly, I think he enjoys life because of the empire, his riches, and his house in Hawaii. If he were a monk in a cave, I doubt that he'd exude the cheer that he emanates in his lectures. He seems to be blessed with a great deal of determination that has gotten him to the top of the ladder. I doubt that his spirituality is as vital in that climb.
In this book, he mars his argument with one key contradiction. First, he says we are all connected to God, that separation from God is impossible. Then he says we should choose whether or not we want to be connected to God, or to feel the connection that already exists. But if everything is connected to God, then so is my feeling that I am not connected to God. So why bother to change it?
I can't get over this hurdle. What Dyer is really saying is this: Try to connect to God, feel the higher vibrations of God's creation, and you're all set. But what if my feeling that I am not connected to God, and my feeling that God doesn't like me very much, are as connected to God as anything else? Why shouldn't they be, since Dyer says that disconnection from God is an illusion?
There's the rub. If the feeling of disconnection from God is an illusion, so what? Remember, Dyers says everything is connected to God. Therefore, my illusion (that I am disconnected from God) is connected to God. You can swiftly see that this makes no sense.
As a result, his book suffers from a lack of logic and cohesion.
Are you troubled or confused?.......2005-03-16
I could read this book or listen to the audio hundreds of times and it is like new information every time. The concepts are fresh and straight forward, it can be a reference in times of trouble or confusion. Always a pleasure to get the core of any issue with ease and understanding
Wayne your the best!
Product Description
Live Lecture. By taking examples from the lives of St. Francis of Assisi and Mother Teresa--and even finding wisdom in a "simple" nursery rhyme--Dr. Dyer clearly illsutrates that by changing your perceptions, you can truly find a spiritual way to deal with any problem you encounter.
