Good Read.......2007-07-30
I enjoyed this book for the characters, situations and mysterious murders. It's a light, fun read.
great story but badly read.......2007-04-03
The story is a typical Catherine Coulter Regency tale. However, it is very hard to follow as Monica Buckley's English Accent is atrocious. She not only can't speak with an English accent, she can't change her voice for the different characters, which makes it sometimes hard to follow as to who said what. Ms Coulter's humorous plots and scenes are lost in the reading. I'm greatly dissapointed. I listened to all the "Bride" novels read by Anne Flosnik, and expected the same level of quality in this production, which was not the case. It would have been better to not even attempt at the English accent, and concentrate more on changing the voices. The leading man's voice sometimes sounds like a screeching female's! I lived in England for some years, and loved it, and had hoped to be transported once again, as with Anne Flosnik, but no such luck. I'm still giving it a 4 star rating, because I like Ms Coulter's Regency tales.
Much better then the first..........2006-06-04
I thought that The Nightingale Legacy was really good. I preferred it much better then the first book in this series, The Wyndham Legacy. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. At the start of the book Caroline is an innocent girl who is about to be attacked by her uncle. While on the run from her uncle she meets North and quickly realizes that she wants him. Although North had decided that he didn't want to marry for several more years he couldn't resist the charms of Caroline for very long. There are many secrets & mysteries in this book that will keep you guessing until the very end. I was happy realize that my guess was right as to who the villain was but there's more to it then what you'd think. I was also pleased to see Marcus & The Duchess return in the last half of the book. It was quite enjoyable. The only thing that I really didn't care for was the bit of magic at the end of the book. I don't like any magic in my books but it was small enough that it didn't make that big of a difference. I would recommend this book.
Perfect - absolutely perfect - A Coulter winner!!.......2005-08-24
One of those books you can really get into - this book had everything, a great love story, suspenseful plot - which was almost impossible to figure out - and lots of very real evil characters. First off North and Caroline are two of Coulter's favorites and you can see why. They are perfect for one another, and if North was a brooder he certainly came alive and was the opposite once he got fully absorbed in Caroline. They say a loved
one can truly make a person better and she did this for North. He needed someone to love him unconditionally and boy did she - She was funny, quirky and so totally uninhibited and matched him word for word and emotion to emotion. Great great love scenes in this book too! This was a sizzler. And the evil people - there were just too many to name. Sometimes you wondered how this couple could even fall in love with so much tragedy around them. But although the evil people were many they were so varied and made the book so interesting! The fact North's 3 servants totally hated women and the whole legacy of Nightingale men and the betrayal was a new plot that I had never experienced and it was facinating. And all the killings - although I did finally suspect the villain - there did not seem to be anyone else it could be toward the end. I mostly loved how Coulter did not allow this couple to seperate or loose confidence in each other through some of the suspicious moments - that would normally send a man like North away from his wife, and then that would be the plot. Coulter however did not let North feel betrayed by Caroline - that was so important to their story because there was absolutely no reason to ever doubt Caroline's love for North. This was a true 5 star book - highly recommend this one to all readers!!
At last!! Two people who share a pure love!.......2004-02-28
THis was a great love story. There was never any pretensions between the two characters. The mysteries surrounding them never came between their love and Caroline was bright, spunky, optimistic and full of life. She was exactly what NOrth needed. USually romance books can be so irritating because of all the "oh let me hide my love because I dont want to be hurt" drama. However here we have two normal people who gradually come to care about one another and there is no hoopla just honest sentiment. It's a great read and you dont need to have read THe Wyndham Legacy in order to understand this one since it can stand on its own. Have fun!

Florence Nightingale and the nursing legacy.......2000-04-20
This book is specifically about the Nightingale Fund and how it was used to start and maintain nursing schools. The book is not organized chronologically, but by subject. This makes the chapters somewhat confusing because the time-frame is always changing. This book contains a lot of detail about the schools and students benefiting from the Fund. Conflicts with teachers, students, doctors and Florence Nightingale are also mentioned. Sections of the book were very interesting, but other parts were boring. Anyone interested in the history of nursing schools in the middle to late 1800s or Nightingale nurses should read this book.
Product Description
The Wyndham Legacy - The Earl of Chase's illegitimate daughter Josephina Cochrain, nicknamed "the Duchess" by her antagonistic cousin Marcus Wyndham because of her precocious self-possession, unexpectedly becomes both legitimate and an heiress upon her father's death. His nephew Marcus receives the title but little else; Josephina inherits most of the money but will lose it all unless she weds her obnoxious cousin. *** The Nightingale Legacy - It's 1814, and the young, long-haired, brooding Lord Chilton, Frederick North Nightingale, who briefly appeared in The Wyndham Legacy, is on his way from his Cornish castle, Mount Hawke, to London when he stops at an inn for the night. There, he meets the smart, beautiful and feisty 19-year-old Caroline Derwent-Jones, who has just escaped Roland Ffalkes, her lecherous, inheritance-seeking guardian, and is en route to the Cornish home of her aunt, Eleanor Penrose. North protects Caroline from Ffalkes, who shows up unexpectedly, but she departs before the nobleman can tell her that her aunt, whom he knew, has been murdered. North and Caroline soon meet again, though, and before long he accepts her proposal of marriage-much to the horror of his three misogynist male servants, appalled that the union will break the long-standing tradition of no women living at Mount Hawke.*** The Valentine Legacy - Refusing to marry James Wyndham, the man she has loved secretly for years, outspoken, naive Jessie Warfield escapes to England and the estate of James's cousins? and a life as a "nanny." However, when James comes to fetch her, a group of delightful meddlers make certain that they end up neatly married instead. Old secrets, a pirate's legacy, and a cast of wonderful characters are part of this funny, lively, and occasionally mysterious story that provides a satisfactory conclusion to Coulter's "Legacy" trilogy

And she gets just that when she hooks up with Rasheen.
Customer Reviews:
"No Satisfaction".......2007-05-05
There's not much I can say about these stories except that they're boring, all but one. Brenda Jackson's Extreme Satisfaction, and Delilah Dawson's Satisfy Me were ho-hum, Joy King's Ice Princess was just plain vulgar. Now Maryann Reid's The Morning After was good. I felt the entire 304 pages should've focused on Alexis and Rasheen.
Too Dirty For Me.......2006-11-08
Didn't like this book i guess i really didn't thank it would be so raw.I was fairly new at ordering when i ordered this and ordered two by mistake, what was i thinking. Beverly
Sizzling!!.......2006-05-22
This was my first time reading anything by any of these authors and boy was I impressed. Each story held it's own. It was equivalent to going to a buffet and selecting whatever you had a taste for. Each story is unique and all the authors are very talented. A must read.
HORRIBLE.......2006-04-05
I have everyone of Brenda Jackson's books and I bought it mainly because of her. Brenda Jackson's "Extreme Satisfaction" was rushed and left me very unsatisfied. "Satisfy Me" by Delilah Dawson was the only story I felt was worth reading. I had to stop at "Ice Princess" by Joy King. I can't even finish reading this book without writing a review. Ice Princess was a great advertisement for designer labels and that was the only great thing about the book was she named almost every designer throughout the story. It was as if she wrote a story for every groopie want a be and did a poor job at that. The characters sounded like two crazed bad judgement individuals that needed HELP. I have to put this book down because I lack the desire to read anymore. There is romance, desire and just plain heat that I love in my books, I felt ICE PRINCESS lacked tremendously in the romance and desire part and was a very trashy story with explicit words for shock effect. I will remember her name and it will be a very long time before I pick up one of her books again. One of the things I love about our books is the fact it shows the Black population in a healthy, positive and beautiful light. These books are our fantasy with a dose of reality, I don't need that to be stripped away with all the negative drama some of us go thru.
Mr. Satisfaction.......2006-03-08
Mr. Satisfaction by Brenda Jackson, Delilah Dawson, Joy King and Maryann Reid is a series of four novellas that focus on several sensual beings.
The first novella's, Extreme Satisfaction, opening line "I need a man," sets the tone for this book. Cathleen McAlister is out to get her man back. Rory Dawkins is the one who got away, which causes Cathleen to spend her every waking moment trying to convince him that they belong together. Extreme Satisfaction lives up to its name as Cathleen and Rory's story unfolds.
Satisfy Me is a tale about the once wealthy Shauna Williams who is an ambitions single female coordinating her best friend wedding. Shauna discovers that her childhood love Max Jackson, the poor kid from the wrong side of the tracks, is back and no longer poor. Although Shauna has unresolved feelings for him, her financial status has her wondering if she should act on them. Meanwhile, Max is saddened to discover Shauna meager living conditions and feels responsible for her fall from wealth.
Ice Princess a tale of the cold, focused and driven industry professional with a twist. The twist is the cold driven professional is a woman! Madison Monroe handles her business associates like fine tuned automobiles. She calls the shot in the boardroom as well as in the bedroom. Enter Madison's world and see what it is like to be a woman with the typical traits of a man.
The Morning After helps to reinforce the old adage Money can't buy happiness. Alexis is a wealthy debutante type who has the best of everything except relationships. Alexis is convinced by her friend that in order to find true happiness, she should look for a blue collar man and not the silver spoon type she's used to. Low and behold, Alexis meets and is attracted to Rasheen, a hard worker with a criminal record and lots of baby mama drama!
The back of this book identifies that these are four hot stories and I could not agree more. Each story provides its fair share of heat, while I found that Mr. Satisfaction provided fire. The authors have collectively penned novels that will possibly require you to have your own "personal summer." The stories were well written and delightfully entertaining. I am usually one who finds that novellas are too short to be good, but these ladies have provided a detailed, sensual and entertaining collection of short stories.

Customer Reviews:
Great!.......2006-12-31
I am an elementary teacher and I use these books in my class to supplement our Character Ed program (which isn't the greatest). My students love the Little Miss and Mr. Men books. I have to keep them behind my desk and let them "check them out" like library books or they fight over them. The are excellent to use in a pinch if you have a book that pertains to a problem that has developed in class (especially rudeness or bossiness). It is easy to read the book and have a quick class chat about what is going on. I highly recommend all of the books for anyone who teaches, home schools, or children in general. They are a great asset.

Unlock the secret of your personality and learn how to be a better spouse, parent, friend, & Christian! All of us are born with distinct personality traits. Some of us live for crowds and parties; others seek solitude and time for quiet reflection. Some of us are naturally pushy, while others are content just to get along. We don.t pick and choose these traits; they.re just part of the way we.re made. For in the womb God doesn.t merely mold our body; He also gives us the temperament that, all our days, colors our understanding, guides our choices, and serves as the foundation of our moral and spiritual life. Ancient philosophers identified four basic temperaments, and over the centuries, countless wise souls have used these four to understand human nature. Now comes The Temperament God Gave You, the first Catholic book on the subject in 70 years. Here veteran Catholic counselor Art Bennett and his wife Laraine provide an accessible synthesis of classical wisdom, modern counseling science, and Catholic spirituality: a rich understanding of the temperaments and what they mean for you and for your family. Drawing on decades of study, prayer, and practical experience, Art and Laraine show you how to identify your own temperament and use it to become what God is calling you to be: a loving spouse, an effective parent, and a good friend. Best of all, they give you a Catholic understanding of the four temperaments that will bring you closer to God and help you discover the path to holiness that.s right for you. Peace. Happiness. Holiness. You.ll find yourself growing in each of these qualities as you come to understand . and learn to use as you should . the temperament God gave you.

The Temperement God Gave You.......2007-10-10
This book gave great insight as to how I respond to others and my environment as well as insight as to how the others in my life respond. It is an invaluable aid in improving communication. It is easy to read, it is a good reference book. It is written with both humor and sensitivity. I highly reccommend his book.
Good Book.......2007-01-19
First, a disclaimer... I only read the parts my wife told me to read. I'm not a religious man, so reading the whole book would just turn my stomach. But, my wife seems to think it's a great book and the temperaments seem to be pretty accurate, which helps us understand a little bit more about each other. I'd recommend it for anyone thinking "why does my spouse, or child, act like that?" (if you don't mind the Catholic religious spiel that comes with it)keep in mind, though, it does not tell you how to change the person, but instead how to live with and motivate the person.
AWESOME!.......2007-01-05
Do you ever wonder why two people could be in the exact same situation but react totally differently? This helps explain it. This book was so dead-on to my temperament that I felt like they had done an interview with my subconscious. It's quick and interesting read. You'll end-up using it as a reference book.
This book also explains how to relate to differing temperaments and has truly opened my eyes to the way my loved ones "tick". It also has great tips for the work environment. Most importantly it has helped me pin-point the style in which I should approach my relationship with God.
If you know anyone who is engaged...A MUST READ!
This book is a MUST read! .......2006-02-18
This is a GREAT BOOK! I'm a homeschooler and this is really helping me to understand my 4 boys' temperaments, especially how to approach them the right way regarding their schoolwork. You think you know your children and then you read this and realize just how much you need to learn. I highly recommend it.
Is there anything better than 5 stars?.......2005-11-18
If there is, this would be my #1 highest pick. Truly, this book will help you out so much! It helps you understand why people do what they do, how to deal with each temperament, and motivating every type of person(teachers-this is SOOOO the book for you!) I can't recommend it highly enough. Its modern, catholic, and easy, enjoyable reading. It allows you to take a "temperament" test to decide which temperament is yours, and how to most effectively motivate yourself to become the person God wants you to be. A great conversation starter and awesome gift for any young, old, or in between Catholic. I can't say enough! You'll love this book!
