Anderson always delivers.......2007-06-16
Once again, a wonderful read from Catherine Anderson. Her books never fail to capture me. She has a wonderful way of exploring characters and emotions, thoroughly engaging the reader. I didn't find this book as thoroughly enthralling and emotional as some of her other books, like Phantom Waltz and Summer Breeze, but I still loved it.
Lots of wonderful dynamics in this book. I loved Ben's character. As an animal lover myself, I loved his compassion for the animals he cared for. I just wanted to give him a big hug sometimes. The romance between him and Chloe is nicely done. There's a slow build-up that makes it more realistic than if they just jumped into bed with each other. I liked that they got to know each other first. They complemented each other well.
There was a minor suspense plot aspect that was a nice addition to the story. It gave the book some kick and some meat. And the reason behind the antagonist's action fit well with the story. But the story was mostly about the characters, their situations, and the romance, as with all Anderson's books. Just a good all around romance.
Enchanting..........2007-01-04
"Only by your touch" is one of Catherine's best. This book has a bit of fantasy in it, a touch of magic. The relationship between Chloe and Ben, how it develops and grows, is charming, and enchanting. Not to forget Cloe's cute little boy, and Ben's lovable pets.
The love between Chloe and Ben is portrayed splendidly. A truly poignant and breathtaking read. Highly recommended!
Did not like as well as other reviewers.......2006-06-27
I just want to start out by saying that this was a good book, but I would not read it again. I didn't think that Ben Longtree and Chloe had any romance at all. It was more of an animal lover book. Ben Longtree could secretly heal living things, and it's great that he could because someone was shooting all the animals in the woods. They automatically knew to go right to him after they were wounded. He was also a vet and healed them back to health. You get to learn a lot about his native american heritage and horrible past with his father. Chloe had an ex-husband that makes you think he is still in the picture, but then you never hear a word about him throughout the end of the book. This book just left me with more questions than answers.
Charmingly poignant.......2006-03-15
Chloe Evans leaves an abusive marriage and, with her son, sets out to build a new life. She doesn't anticipate meeting a man like Ben. The town spends plenty of time speculating on what Ben's doing up on his mountain spread. Together Ben and Chloe overcome the town's suspicions and their own personal demons to find something special...maybe a family?
As always, Catherine Anderson pens a charmingly poignant story of shattered dreams and rediscovered hope.
My First Anderson book!.......2005-12-02
I picked this book up at a library fund-raiser sale ~~ and while taking care of two sick kids ~~ I picked this book expecting it to be a light fluffy read. Well, it is definitely not a fluffy read ~~ it is a light read but it is also intense. I have to admit that I loved every minute of this book! I know that it's fiction and I know that it's too good to be true, but when I read, I read to escape from reality and this book is definitely one of the better ones I've read in quite some time.
Chloe moves to a small town with her son, Jeremy, to start over. Settled in a good job as a dispatcher for the local sheriff, she thinks that she would definitely find peace again. However, once she ran into Ben Longtree, the local outcast, her life was not going to be as tranquil as she had hoped. Pitted against a local deputy who was stalking her, and fighting her feelings for Ben, life just got to be interesting for Chloe.
I have to say that Ben Longtree is probably my favorite hero lately ~~ able to tame wild animals, live in a secluded forest ~~ and big and gentle ~~ what is there NOT to love? And Chloe is a strong and determined woman ~~ fighting for what she believes in. What is there not to like?
If you're looking for the perfect escape, this book would be it! It's entertaining and my favorite, it's very well-written ~~ I couldn't stop turning the pages! This is perfect reading for anytime of the year ~~ snuggling on the couch at night or sunbathing at the local pool. And since this is my first introduction to this author, I will definitely keep an eye out for her other books!

Product Description
From Publishers Weekly: The characters and plot twists in Only by Your Touch, Catherine Anderson's newest contemporary romance (after Always in My Heart), may feel familiar to the author's fans, but this by-the-numbers tale still possesses poignancy and charm. Determined to keep her sickly son safe, Chloe Evans divorces her abusive husband and moves to Jack Pine, Ore., where she meets the enigmatic Ben Longtree, a part-Indian veterinarian once arrested for murder. Chloe is struck by the man's kindness to animals and is deeply attracted to him, but at the same time, she must fend off a police deputy who tries to assert his claim over her in an ever more ominous fashion. The once-abused heroine, too-good-to-be-true hero and too-evil-to-be-believed villain are character types that Anderson's fans know well, but that won't stop readers (both old and new) from savoring the book's tender moments.

Great book.......2002-08-22
I thought the book was great. Even though Edward married Lindsay out of revenge it later turns to love and passion. Lindsay has a stepbrother who kills her brother, yet she doesn't display any emotions of hate towards him, she just tries to distance herself from him. She is an innocent woman through and through, and that is what draws Edward to loving her.
The book defitely has a twist in the end, which makes the book a good read. I wish Stella Cameron wrote more historical romances.
An entertaining read.......2000-02-27
I just wrote a review for Cameron's newest 'All Smiles' and it got me thinking about the only book I have really liked by her. 'Only By Your Touch' has an interesting plot, interesting characters and a really wicked villian. Lindsey is extraordinarily beautiful, sweet and seeming independent. She has a big secret that colors her whole existence. Edward is extremely handsome and also has a big secret that drives him to be consumed with revenge. The big problem here, I think, is that these two beautiful people who are obviously wildly attracted to each other don't talk. Edward, of course, is mistrustful of love (where have I read this concept before?)and Lindsey is too wrapped up in her big sacrifice to let herself love.
Lindsey is so sweet and naive that everyone loves her. Edward is a cold fish with a bad reputation. (Is it deserved?) Lindsey is also a spirited girl so why does she let Edward get the best of her at times. Basically, though, she is really a neat character. Edward can be a insufferable tyrant at times and does not have a very high opinion of females (except his aunt). I would have murdered the guy and been hung before the conclusion of the book. Imagine him thinking he has suffered more than Lindsey because she is a woman! Talking between these two beautiful people would have solved alot of problems. But then it would half reduced the book by probably over half. Roger, Lindsey's stepbrother and a real nasty villian, was a nice touch. On that point, I can't imagine Lindsey allowing Roger to murder her real brother and not seeking justice. All in all, OBYT was an entertaining book. Cameron's best, I think.

Lovely and world-weary, Enid MacLean has no wish to set eyes on her ne'er-do-well husband again. Abandoned by him nine years earlier, she has supported herself as a nurse companion. When Mr. Throckmorton tells her that her long-absent husband is wounded, dying, and in need of her, she reluctantly travels to Throckmorton's estate where she finds a man whose face and body are badly wounded but whose eyes are the distinctive green and gold she remembers. Grimly, she sets about saving his life.
Stephen MacLean wakes and his body grows stronger, but his memory is nonexistent. He doesn't remember being married to Enid, yet the beautiful woman with the acerbic tongue challenges and enchants him. Enid is dismayed to find herself being seduced once again by Stephen. How can she desire the husband who treated her so shabbily? Meanwhile, Stephen's instinct warns him they're in danger, but it isn't until their lives are threatened and nearly lost that Throckmorton sends the couple north to Stephen's family estate, where the truth, finally revealed, is startling.
The English and Scottish backdrops are picture perfect for this latest installment in Christina Dodd's Distinguished Academy of Governesses series. With an interesting plot that combines the mysteries of amnesia and Russian spies, plus a lot of heat between the strong hero and heroine, Lost in Your Arms is historical romance at its best. --Lois Faye Dyer

Beware of Spoilers - JUST READ THE BOOK!!!!.......2006-02-23
This is by far the best book i have read by Christina Dodd. I totally got lost reading this book, not in a bad way, mind you, but it kept me up all night, as soon as I finished, I just had to read it again. I'm an avid romance reader and this is the only book out of hundreds that I had to read twice in one day. There are some cons to this book but nothing major, i.e. "ending", other than that, it is worth the time.
MacLean is soooo sexy, Enid is lovable and the rest of the characters are fun. I won't go into detail as the other reviewers did a good job covering some highlights, so my advice is to read it yourself and avoid reading the reviews as others may spoil it for you.
The Best in the Lot!!!!.......2006-02-16
I read Publisher's Weekly review on this book, and they called it a weak entry. Did we read the same book? Lost in Your Arms is one of the best Christine Dodd books I've read. Infact this book made me her fan. I read this one first not realizing it was a series, I hope the rest of them are this good!
Enid Seymore was no stranger to life's hardships, the orphaned bastard child of a nobleman, thought luck was finally in her favor when she met and married the handsome, and charming Stephen Maclean, but soon realized that this was no fairy tale and Stephen was far from the knight in shining armor she thought he was. When her husband cast her off after 3 months of marriage, and left her with all his debts, Enid was forced to find work as an assistant to a village doctor. Now a nurse companion 9 years later, Enid recieves a message that her no good husband is badly injured and she is needed to nurse him back to health. The last thing Enid wanted was to meet Stephen again, but she dutifully nurses him back from the brink off death, only to realize that he has amnesia and can't remember her at all. Besides his familiar green eyes, this man is unlike the spoiled, rotten, and selfish man she married 9 years ago.
Maclean was sure he would have remembered having Enid as a wife, who would forget having a beautiful and saucey wife sleeping next to him at night. But yet for the life of him he couldn't remember a thing about her or of the life she claimed he lived. He didn't gamble as she claimed he loved to do, and he would never cast off his wife as she said he did. All he knows is that whatever secrets are locked away in his memory, someone is trying to kill him to make sure they are never revealed...
Lost In Your Arms, is a beautiful love story that I have read over and over again, once you start you can't put it down until your finished!
Very emotional love story!.......2006-01-27
I love when the romance is mixed with danger - especially when the danger is so mysterious that you really have no clue the cause. Thus depicts this book perfectly. Enid MacLean is summoned to try to save the life of the husband who deserted her 9 years before - Stephen. She reluctantly comes to his bedside and immediately puts her heart and sole into the task - along the way she gets emotionally involved and begins to care deeply for Stehpen who seems a changed man. This emotional read really tugs at your heart and you can feel the depths of pain Enid went through in their marriage and certainly what Stepehn went through in this explosion that wounded him so very badly. How Enid fights to save him, how he responds overwhelmingly to Enid and what comes of their love is beautiful. And of course Dodd has a few twitsts and turns in the plot to cause Enid some difficult moments with her values and morals. Great book!
Not to be put down.......2006-01-04
I liked this one because this heroine was strong but yet had some scruples. I do appreciate the ability that she was not about to swoon and fall helplessly in love with this man even after what they had been through... that she wanted to be strong on her own... a good one night read. You can't put it down!
endearing.......2005-08-11
"Lost in Your Arms" is the story of young lady who is estranged from her good-for-nothing husband. While working as a nurse, she receives a summons to come to come to his deathbed. She goes to his side, and while nursing him back to health discovers that the years have changed him. Now, she is in danger of falling in love with him all over.
This novel contains some fun surprises -- I suggest you avoid reading too many reviews, as other reviewers have let slip too much. The leading lady is forthright and confident without being overbearing; and the leading man is everything you could want. I enjoyed this book enough to read it over again, but I must admit the ending is somewhat less inspired than rest -- too much action and drama where a more subdued setting would have suited better. Still, the gestalt is endearing and romatic, all you could desire.

Customer Reviews:
joiner king trilogy.......2007-08-30
how can ANYONE say that the joiner king trilogy is anything other than disappointing?? obviously, most readers of these books have never read most or all of the previous novels, like i have. i've read them all. these books were gross, and the bugs were gross, and the authors have made jaina out to be an idiot. i gave this final book one star because i had to put in something. the whole set of three are not really any good.
dark nest ii : the unseen queen.......2006-08-11
set a year after 'the joiner king', leia is in the midst of her jedi training, luke is faced with a fragmenting order and han is forced to worry more about his children, who are still part of the nests. secrets are uncovered and more mysteries thrown down to the reader as the situation prepares to erupt on a galactic scale.
the jedi order seems on the verge of splintering in this volume, and the reasons are all unfortunately highlighted through the story. the younger knights, amongst them jaina and jacen, all act incredibly arrogantly (jacen especially), as do some of the masters. saba sebatyne's constant belittling of leia's non-jedi abilities seems nothing more than being deliberately obstructionist. yet jae and tarfang still provide much-needed relief, and the ending, set among an exciting space battle, certainly sets the scene for the trilogy's final installment.
Star Wars: Dark Nest, Book 2.......2006-02-25
It is a Star Wars novel. If you are just starting reading the novels, I would not start here, otherwise, read on. If you are srarting, I would go with Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn and go form there. You will here the score in the background, it is that good.
Another terrific storyline.......2006-02-17
I love this continuation of the adventures of Luke, Leia, Han, and their offspring. I like they are starting to link these characters to Anakin, Padme, and Obi Wan in Episodes I-III. I look forward to reading about these characters as they reach old age.
Good sequel.......2006-02-10
If you liked The Joiner King, you'll like The Unseen Queen. Similar in quality to The Joiner King (see my review), it continues to have some of the same benefits (ie. good sense of mystery/intrigue) and some of the same problems (ie. less than satisfying treatment of the "foundation" characters).
On plot points, the development of Leia as a Jedi is an "about-time" for many Star Wars fans. And the interaction between Jacen Solo and Queen Mother Tenel Ka is compelling.
This trilogy is a must read for Star Wars fans, who are getting the first opportunities to see Luke & Leia reactions (and their friends and family) to new information on the fate of their parents, which we discovered in the recent Episode 3 movie, and is only now being revealed to the OT characters by R2-D2.

Fantastic!!.......2007-10-05
This book is fantastic! It is incredible insight into what happens when you allow God to take control of your love life. I found the principles true/valid for all areas of my life not just my love life. I highly recommend this book.
Must Read.......2007-10-02
I've heard of this book through the grapevine and it got great reviews, especially from the church youth group ministries. Once I began reading it, I could not put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is dating seriously, looking at dating, or even trying to figure out the path to take for a great future.
A Very Good Book.......2007-09-28
I teach an Ezra class at my church for teenagers. I ordered this book for them and we are discussing it and reading it and they are really enjoying it. This book is about real people with real experiences like them. They can relate to it. The Lord is teaching them through this book. Thank you for selling it and I thank the authors for writing it.
Wonderful!.......2007-05-12
This book I would recommend for young teens as well as adults. Anyone who has looked for love, but in all the wrong places, or anyone who is uncertain that they will ever find love at all; this book will comfort and guide you. Using scriptural backing, this books tells the reader how they must first love their heavenly King before they can every hope to find their earthly handsome prince.
This book was such a blessing to me. A must read for all young Christian adults!
I tried to make the most of it.......2007-04-29
I think the book is ok in that it offered new insight into my relationship with God that I was unaware of, and for that, I appreciate the book. However, as "the ultimate approach to guy/girl relationships," I don't think it was quite that. I think that they should have elaborated more on what is wrong with most current guy/girl relationships and talked about how we should approach these differently, both in the aspects of friendship and dating. The prime example would have been to use their own relationship as an example, which they did not. The reader just discovers one day (towards the end of the book) that they were friends who were not even considering marriage and the next thing you know, they're married. Maybe they elaborate more in their other books, but I am not buying those when stuff like that should have been explained in a book that is supposed to tell you the "ultimate approach to guy/girl relationships!" I think that their book titles should reveal that this is one couple's limited perspective because even the references of other people's experiences as examples do not tell you much.
Also, they seem somewhat limited in their experience and their thinking to be telling others how to correctly approach these relationships. In the aspect of loving yourself and growing closer to God, the book is good, but I don't really think it helps too much with relationships.
Another thing is the writing style was kind of a turn off to me, and I found it to be annoying. But I think that perhaps it may appeal to some people. It seems somewhat simple and patronizing, which immediately made me think this book was for high schoolers, but even when I was at that age, I still would have regarded it as too simple. Plus their humor did not appeal to me so they should try to keep that to a minimum in their future books. Honestly, they sounded as if they were young adolescents when they wrote this, and there is a difference between trying to appeal to a certain age group and sounding like you are from that age group.
Lastly, they should not paraphrase what is in the Bible. I actually did look up something they paraphrased and had a completely different understanding of it so I think they should write exactly what is in the Bible and then offer their perspective. Overall, I tried to get as much out of it as I could, but I would not want to buy another book written by them.
