Book Description
Dermot Michael Coyne isn't sure what he's gotten himself into. Nuala Anne McGrail, that beautiful and vivacious "Celtic witch" has finally agreed to marry him. But they've barely tied the knot when Nuala's psychic "spells" begin again. Visions of a burning castle, the captain of the infamous "Black and Tan" police force, a wild woman from Chicago, and bloodshed--all somehow connected--lead the two to the remnants of a mystery long buried in the mist of Ireland's turbulent and violent past. How did Kevin O'Higgins, the murdered leader of the movement to free Ireland, die? And who among the living will do whatever it takes to keep Nuala and Dermot from finding out?

What the..........2005-12-20
A psychic pop star and her poet husband go on an adventure to solve a decades-old Irish mystery!! Huh? I thought this book might be fun to read in a silly way, like bad dime novels and trashy romance books. The book was certainly silly, but not at all fun. The writing takes long and boring forays into dry retellings of Irish history. One of the sub-plots involves the central character's inability to have an orgasm, and her husband's inner struggle (complete with imagined conversations with voices in his head) about whether this makes him a bad husband. There is quite a bit of talk about sex, and lots of cursing as well, neither of which bother me in and of themselves, but the cursing seems forced and the sex talk sounds creepy. I later discovered that this book was written by a Catholic priest. Creepy, indeed. Luckily, I didn't spend any money on this book. I highly recommend that you don't, either.
Series losing focus........2001-06-26
Irish Mist, The fourth book in Andrew Greely's series of Nuala McGrail mysteries gives us another look at an unsolved mystery from the past; who killed Kevin O'Higgins. O'Higgins, who was Michael Collins successor in the effort to have an independent Ireland, is the catalyst for the latest of Nuala's "fey" episodes and her husband Dermot once again does the footwork.(Although this time his physical attributes are often brought into play) Mixed with an almost farcical attempt to kidnap Nuala, a charity concert in Ireland, and a commentary on the nature of lovemaking and its importance to a successful marriage, Greely bites off a bit more than he needs to. Sometimes the central mystery gets lost when there is too much extraneous material floating around, and this seems to be the problem here as it was with the last book in the series, Irish Whiskey. Greely tries to make each book a history lesson and maybe a tale that is completely fictional without the baggage of historical documentation is needed to liven the series up a bit. As it is, the books are getting bogged down in subplots, most of which are not worth the reader's time. The strength of the novels is still the relationship of Nuala and Dermot. Maybe that needs to be the focus.

my review.......2001-03-07
This is the first book I read from this author of this "Irish" theme and I was not impressed. I liked the characters and the writing is very funny and brings to the reader the 'irish accent', but all in all, the book did nothing for me.
I have read previous books by the author and I prefer them to this kind of "mystery a la Irish".
Not a good book!.......2000-06-05
I have a number of Greeley's books and have usually enjoyed them as a window to the world of Irish-Americans and Catholics (I am neither). However, I really hated Irish Mist. I thought the plot was a big yawn, both the historical mystery and the present-day suspense story. Greeley attempted to make his two main characters believable, but he spent too much time dwelling on how talented, good-looking, rich and smart they were to make me warm to them and care whether they worked their marital problems out. The worst thing about the book, however, was the unbelievable amount of swearing (totally unnecessary to the plot or character development) and gratuitous violence. I'm honestly not a prude, but I do object to people who can't open their mouths without swearing (in books or in real life) and it's especially annoying when I know the author is a CATHOLIC PRIEST! This book was a waste of my time and money.

Another winner from Ana Seymour.......2003-03-02
This second in the Riordan brothers trilogy is about youngest brother Niall. He has accompanied compatriot and family friend Dr John Black to the court of Queen Elizabeth to broker a peace treaty on behalf of The O'Neill, the Irish rebel leader. Niall is certainly no diplomat being young and impetuous and he is quickly frustated by Lord Wolverton's rudeness and refusal to meet with them. Niall confronts him in the dining hall one night accompaning his beautiful young ward to dinner. Catriona Sherwood looks bored with it all on the outside, but is keenly observing the two newcomers and their mission. For Cat is not what she seems. She's a rebel spy for the Cleary's who are opposed to peace and will not rest until the English are finally and completely driven out of Ireland. She vividly recalls the day English soldiers raided her home, killed her father and seized the O'Malley lands that were her inheritance. Lord Wolverton took her in and raised her in his household, but she has carried her hatred of the English inside ever since.
Cat and her friend Bobby are determined to thwart John and Niall's efforts for peace and they hatch a treacherous plan that results in Niall being charged with a crime he did not commit and both Niall and John are imprisoned in the Tower. Their lawyer, fellow Irishman and friend, the flamboyant and sly Truly Fitzpatrick reveals to John and Niall that Cat is not only a deceitful liar, she's also a rebel spy and the daughter of Lorcan O'Malley and that all they have to do to free themselves is to expose this spy to the Queen. Surprisingly both Niall and John object to endangering Cat but for very different reasons. Niall's is obvious - he's infatuated with the lovely Cat. But John shows more of a fatherly interest where Cat is concerned and all wonder why. But Truly ignores his clients wishes and soon John and Niall are released and Cat is now the one imprisoned. What none count on is the unpredictable Queen herself, whose fondness for Cat leads her to a decision. Cat and Niall will marry, return to Ireland and thus, Cat will become Niall Riordan's problem.
And so, Cat O'Malley and Niall Riordan are married by royal decree, but will the initial attraction they had felt be able to over come the lies, deceit and treachery of Cat's actions? Can he ever trust her again, and will she choose love over vengence? And where has John Black gone off to, what's this "investigation" he is conducting and what is his connection to Cat O'Malley?
I must say, I was not particularly sympathetic to Cat for a good part of the book. Niall was so sweet, kind and lovable that it made her deceit that much worse. I could see why Niall's brothers refused to trust her and fully understood Niall's reserve and confusion. I wanted more remorse from Cat and that's why I could not rate this at 5 stars. But still another good read from a consistently good author.
Rose In The Mist.......2002-02-02
The latest installment of the Irish Eyes Series features Anna Seymour's Rose In the Mist. In this novel we again meet up with the Riordan Clan. The youngest of the three brothers Niall is thrust into the intrigues of the Elizabethan Court. Seymour spins a tale that is enjoyable and compelling weaving treason, treachery, greed, politics and love throughout the plot. This story goes beyond the superficial and develops not only main characters but also the supporting cast with consummate skill.
I encourage readers to pick up this book and learn more of the tale of Cat and Niall.
Exciting late sixteenth century.......2002-01-28
In 1565, Niall Riordan accompanied by John Black are at Whitehall Castle to negotiate a peace between their beloved Ireland and Queen Elizabeth. However, instead of Her Royal Highness, Lord Wolverton meets the visitors, but not before they try to introduce themselves to two beautiful ladies in waiting including the English mediator's ward Catriona Sherwood.
Though many in Queen Elizabeth's court oppose a peace with the Irish, Niall is shocked that Catriona happens to be one of them. She spies for her homeland Ireland as she detests the English for what they did to her family seven years ago and opposes peace with these despicable people. However, when she is exposed for her seditious activities, her only hope to leave the Tower resides in marriage to the peace broker Niall.
Though the late sixteenth century is the backdrop of a googol of novels, Ana Seymour successfully keeps her historical romance fresh through two delightful lead characters. Niall knows the cost of war and will do what it takes to protect his country's liberty even if it means brokering a peace with the enemy. Catriona is his opposite who sees war as inevitable through her hate filled eyes that only love will cleanse. The subplot of someone desiring Catriona's death is exciting and ties back to the main sixteenth century theme, but also takes away from the turmoil caused by the extreme differences on the English question between the stars. A ROSE IN THE MIST is a colorful tale that readers will enjoy and want to see more novels like this one from this talented author.

Book Description
Ancient mythology can be seen as a source of understanding of the universal themes and conflicts that have beset human beings throughout time, such as the transitory nature of life, the inevitability of separateness, and the existence of the personal and collective unconscious. Beyond the Mist is an introduction to Irish mythology which also explores its contemporary relevance to the mysteries, unknowns, and vicissitudes of life. It explores the various divine and other figures as symbolic aspects of the individual psyche and the unconscious mind, while providing insights into these repressed aspects of our inner life and suggesting appropriate ways of relating to and integrating these qualities.

Book Description
1901. Sir Walter Scott was a master of diverse talents. He was a man of letters, a dedicated historian and historiographer, a well-read translator of foreign texts, and a talented poet. Deriving most of his material from his native Scotland, its history and its legends, Scott invented and mastered what we know today as the historical novel. Anne of Geierstein is set in Central Europe in the fifteenth century. With this novel Scott concludes the unfinished historical business of Quentin Durward, working on a larger canvas with broader brush-stokes and generally with more somber colors. The novel also illustrates the darkening of Scott's historical vision in the final part of his career. See the many other works by this author available from Kessinger Publishing.

Magnus Heat.......2006-08-31
This book has two novellas in it, and unlike alot of books that promise an alpha female to go with their alpha male mate, they deliver! The characters are "real" fully develpoed, but with room for growth. The women are strong independant, smart, and take no prisoners. The dialogue is sharp, full of great sarcasm, and laugh out loud comments! And HOT! I've since bought everything, and I mean everything, by Shelly Laurenston. She rocks!
Uneven at first.......2006-07-31
This books contains two novelas. The first starts out somewhat rough, although since in the first chapter the author seems to be trying to re-create the chaos of a busy dance club, some of the roughness is understandable. By the second novela the writing flows more smoothly. On the whole, I found both books fun to read, and I'm looking forward to reading her next book (should get here any day now...).
I did think there were loose ends at the end of the second novela that needed explaining (why were they after the heroine, anyway?), but the explanations might show up in the second book.
FINALLY!.......2006-05-15
At last a book where the women are true Alpha mates to their Alpha mates. If you like smart, strong, assertive women you're gonna love this book. If not don't bother to read it. There are 3 female friends that have very strong assertive personalities, the story is really about 2 of them. Unlike other stories this story doesn't just say the woman is strong independant and assertive, then she acts like a wimp, but has a storyline that actually follows thru.
This is also an interracial romance where, thank you Ms Laurenston, race is not even on the radar screen. Ms. Laurenston brings humor to a previously humorless genre. I've already ordered the sequel to this book and anything else Ms. Laurenston has written.

Not what I thought they would be..........2006-02-13
I'm sorry that I can't agree with all the glowing reviews of this series. I've just finished reading Magnus Heat and Here Kitty, Kitty, and I'm disappointed. Yes, some of the dialogue was snappy and funny, and the women were not weak, save-me people. But, overall, I found the books to be irritating. Although the three heroines were superficially different, what stood out the most about all of them was their hot-tempered violence. Each had that "You lookin' at me?' somewhat-crazy kind of personality. Maybe this is my age showing, but kicking butt whenever you're cranky is not a sign of power. The dialogue also became boring. How many times can I read the word "bitch" before my eyes glaze over? I'm a fan of good paranormal writing, but these books had a cartoonish quality to them. Pow! Bam! Look at me, I'm Alpha Woman. The posted excerpts of the books were intriguing, but the books just didn't live up to my expectations.

.......2006-04-18
I recently found this book in a used book store, and I absolutely love it. Craig Mills has such a unique way of describing events and things that go on about the characters. The plot is original, and the outcome is better. The events between are suspensful, pleasing, sorrowful, everything they're supposed to be. The description is some of the best I've read. It has just a tinge of darkness to it, just a hint that not everything will turn out alright.
The characters are all believable, and they have human emotions, wants, fears and dreams, down to the minor characters. I'm suprised this book hasn't seen more publicity. It may be older, but it is as of now, my favorite.

A Very Heloful, Informative Book.......2006-09-02
Anyone with Parkinslon's disease as well as their caretaker should appreciate this book. It is well-written and empathethic. Dr. Abe Liebberman has answered questions I have had about the baffling condition and it is unfortunate that we do not have more doctors with his knowledge and expertise in America today.
don't waste your $ if you expect title to be true!.......2005-05-19
as a recently diagnosed parkinson disease person, i have read and re-read everything i could get from pd foundations on symptons, treatments and what to expect with pd. the title of this book, "shaking up parkinson disease - fighting like a tiger, thinking like a fox" led me to believe that the famous dr.lieberman would be revealing actions and stragegies not previously printed on dealing with and CURING pd. the title is misleading...contents are almost word for word from his "100 questions & answers about parkinson disease," which i found well organized and quite useful. why were relatives of pd patients interviewed when there are approximately 1 1/2 million
people WITH pd? [whose views are highly valued by me]. i was offened as the good doctor and a-l-l of his famous family interviewes promoted the bible as part of the cure and spouted
endless quotes from it. while spiritual growth may play a part in dealing with this disease, it is incorrect to promote one faith's book of books as part of the actual cure! purchasers would be better served had the dr. shared proactive ways to participate in finding the cure and left his religous beliefs for a book on faith!
