Book Description
Bestselling author E. Lynn Harris is back with another sexy, shocking, and immensely satisfying novel that explores some of today’s toughest and most timely issues.
Chauncey Greer is the owner of Cute Boy Card Company, a thriving company in Atlanta. As a teenager, he was a member of a popular boy band, but left in disgrace when word got out that he and his bandmate D were more than good friends. Chauncey is a free spirit, on the brink of forty with a body admired by both men and women. Not into being categorized, Chauncey’s been known to hook up with men and women, but now in the age of the “down low,” he’s found that women ask too many questions, so he’s just focusing on the fellas.
After one too many bad dates, Chauncey finds himself in church, where the minister’s message inspires him to follow his dream of a singing career once again. Although he’s lost touch with D, as he starts writing songs his thoughts inevitably turn to his former lover. Chauncey’s powerful performance at the church earns him a standing ovation and an invitation to participate in an upcoming revival. But Chauncey soon discovers that an ambitious fundamentalist preacher plans to use the revival to speak out against gays and gay marriage. Feeling angry and betrayed, Chauncey and other gay members of the church decide to take a stand against the church’s homophobia by staging a “Day of Absence” when all of the gay members and their friends and family stay home. Everything is going as planned... until D appears on the scene and Chauncey has to confront his past and make some hard decisions about his future.
I Say A Little Prayer is filled with the delicious plot twists, humor, compassion, and up-to-the-minute controversy fans expect from their beloved “E. Lynn.” Harris has returned with another gem of a novel that will rocket to the top of bestseller lists nationwide.

I Say a Little Prayer: A Novel.......2007-09-17
Ive been a little down on myself lately, spending too much time worrying about career and family. I decided to pickup this book that I've had on my desk for about 6 months on Friday night. I didn't put it down until about 5 am Saturday morning with a new found sense of hope and peace of mind. Like the old people say "TAKE IT TO THE LORD IN PRAYER" Thank you Mr. Harris for reminding me of that thru this enjoyable novel, it was right on time!!!
Masterpiece - plain and simple!!!.......2007-09-04
Amazing!!! I Love how E.Lynn Haris keeps his readers up to date on all of his charaters. There is no one he won't touch with this novel. I was truely blessed by this fragile subject matter. "Does my love for God go away because I love men?" There are so many black men in churches all over the country wondering if God truely loves them. What if I like being BI sexual? Can I still live a life blessed by God? Harris, says yes!! Why not? When you think of all the young people in your church, ask yourself the same question.
This was a funny, endearing, supersing, and well thought out piece of life. HOLD ON, and Enjoy the ride!! You won't believe who you'll see along the way.
Hot Little Book.......2007-07-23
E. Lynn Harris is at again! It's been so long since his last book and again I wasn't disappointed...I mean the man knows how to pull you in and he keeps you there until your done...After that he has you wanting more from the characters he has introduced and I love the cross-overs from characters from his previous books...The only thing that gets me is why not write about totally gay characters and these so called men on the downlow or bisexual...We need more strong totally gay Black and Latino characters, so how about Mr. Harris can you deliver that to our community?
How Much is True?.......2007-05-10
Even though this novel is pure fiction, it seeks to shed light on lifestyle secrets often hidden behind a cloak of religion.
Affairs of the Heart.......2007-04-10
Chauncey Greer is the owner of Cute Boy Card Company, a thriving business in Atlanta. As a teenager, he was a member of a popular boy band, but left in disgrace when word got out that he and his bandmate D were more than good friends. Chauncey is a free spirit, with a body admired by both sexes. Not into being categorized, he's been known to hook up with men and women, but now in the age of the "down low," he's found that women ask too many questions, so he's just focusing on the fellas.

I Say a Little Prayer was an entertaining read. I loved the colorful cast of characters, especially Ms. Gladys and Skylar. This story will make you laugh out loud and cry at times. It exposes some the hypocrisy of "church folk." I think E. Lynn Harris did a wonderful job describing affairs of the heart, because love is universal. I also liked the element of mystery and suspense. I recommend this book.

Book Description
A Warrior Of Immortal Powers
He was a mighty Scottish warrior who lived in a world bound by ancient laws and timeless magic. But no immortal powers could prepare the laird of Castle Brodie for the lovely accursed lass who stood before him. A terrible trick of fate had sent her 700 years back in time and into his private chamber to tempt him with her beauty—and seduce him with a desire he could never fulfill. For this woman he burned to possess was also
the woman he had foresworn to destroy.
A Woman Caught In The Mists Of Time
When Lisa felt the earth move under her feet, the fiercely independent 21st-century woman never dreamed she was falling...into another century. But the powerful, naked warrior who stood glaring down at her was only too real...and too dangerously arousing. Irresistibly handsome he might be, but Lisa had no intention of remaining in this savage land torn by treachery and war. How could she know that her seductive captor had other plans for her...plans that would save her from a tragic fate? Or that this man who had long ago forsaken love would defy time itself to claim her for his own....

A piece of the Adam Black puzzle.......2007-09-01
Lisa touches a Celtic artifact while snooping in the museum director's office, and is catapulted back in time to the fourteenth century, into the clutches of Circenn, a warrior laird. Naturally Lisa is a babe, and Circenn a sensual hunk, and they have immediate chemistry, but...there's a problem. Actually Lisa has her impediments in modern time, and Circenn has his own.
Karen Marie Moning's Highlander time travel romances tell varying versions of the familiar fish-out-of-water story: modern women in medieval Scotland, ancient gods running amok in the US Midwest. An aspect that sets them apart is the background story arc of the Fae. The Fae are the faries of old - full-sized human-form beings, no wings, but magical powers. There's a king, a powerful Queen, and Adam Black. Adam Black is Puck, by another of his names. He's Coyote, the trickster, who can also be unexpectedly compassionate. Adam Black is clearly a favorite of the author as he appears in several of the books and is the romantic lead in The Immortal Highlander.
Moning's Highlander novels are good romantic fun, definitely formed from the same mold, but it's a sturdy mold. It's not necessary to read them in order, although after you have read a couple you will be wondering how the characters fit together. There are family relationships among the human and Fae characters that it enhances the experience to be aware of.
If you like non-scholarly historical romances with a supernatural flair and some good bedroom scenes, you will enjoy The Highlander's Touch.
Excellent writing.......2007-08-26
Consistently excellent writing skills. Good character development. The plot lines of Moning's books are always fresh and new. I dearly lover her work!
If you need a fix for Highland Romance .......2007-06-06
This is my favorite of Karen Monings books. I disappeared into this book and forgot where i was. LOVED THIS BOOK
AWESOME BOOK - Couldn't put it down........2007-05-04
I can say enough about this book, I love it. It's romance, laughter, love, sex, romance... yes, I know I said romance twice. :)
I read this book in 4 days. That's just not usually possible for me, but I used every possible free moment to keep reading.
Anything with Adam Black is good.......2007-04-30
This is a midly entertaining book that has a secondary character who is VERY interesting. His part of the story, and his interaction with the male lead in this book is of high interest. I speak of Adam Black, who plays an important role in the 4th quarter of this book.
Otherwise this book is a disappointment. I'll not summarize the gist of the story, which is found elsewhere in these pages. I think it is a disappointment because it is sort of two stories in one, and neither developed completely, dividing your focus. The male lead is a very interesting guy, and his backstory is one of the two stories here that could have been more fully realized.
We are 'told' that Circenn is a mighty warrior, immortal powers, etc, but we get into the story, he is gone all soft with love for Lisa. We discover he had two previous wives in his long life, but somehow Lisa is 'special'. Why? At the end of the book, he is part of a (real) battle of historical significance, but we are not treated to the battle in any detail, and the build-up to that part of the story is cursory. He also has issues with his immortal father.
Instead we spend a good deal of time with Lisa, who is not very interesting. She has a dying mother, the thing that lends emotional risk to the story. Lisa has inadvertnetly traveled back in time, leaving her mother, and so there is urgency to her quest to return. She's sheltered and innocent, and she's trapped in the castle of the Laird. There is a sexual awakening, but because she's so emotionally closed, missing her mother, the tension doesn't sizzle. Circenn is a nice guy, but there is more tension for him, as I mentioned above, every time the character Adam Black shows up.
Even though this is a time-travel novel, the aspects of different centuries - the fact that Circenn was born 500 years before and is really from the 9th century, though currently living in the 14th century; Lisa is from the 21 century, and at the end they both come to the contemporary time - these potentially fascinating cultural clashes were not explored in any depth. For heaven's sake - the English language is vastly different in those three centuries, yet all the characters talk as if the time were the 21 century. Gender issues, and even clothing were very different in all three of these centuries, yet none of those issue were explored. Kirtles (the dresses women wore in those days) vs pants for example? For a 500 year old guy, Circenn is very emotionally intelligent, and it just doesn't fit. How did he get that way? Where did he get the wisdom (in midieval times real men definitely did NOT each quiche) to understand all the emotion and healing the Lisa needs to do - to be able to discuss it with Lisa in terms she can understand? There were no psychologists in those days.
Those criticisms aside, the story, at bottom, is very sweet, with Circenn finally waking up to the fact that Lisa is a care-giver with an urgent need, and how he comes to terms with 'taking care of her'. The sex scenes are hot! And for anyone interested in The Highlander's as a series, this story is a must-have for filling in details of characters found in other installments of the series.
Adam Black's story continues in Immortal Highlander.

Book Description
The charming prestidigitating duo are back - and wherever they go, hilarity is sure to follow. Naga is missing and Lina...could care less?! Find out the mystery behind Naga's disappearance! The final volume of Slayers Special has off the wall action and comedy as you like it!
Customer Reviews:
Decent, but below expectations.......2004-01-19
Compared to its predecessor, "Lesser of Two Evils," "Slayers Special: Spellbound" was a disappointment. The artwork is a notably more jumbled -- sometimes to the point of incoherent -- as many of the micro-episodes are more action-oriented (a carriage race, for example) which, in my opinion, doesn't flow particularly well on a manga page. They also (poorly) copied the Slayers season 1 episode introducing Prince Phil. This book isn't without merit -- the first 3 micro-episodes are quite well-done and consistent with the Slayers Special flow of silly action. Unfortunately, though, there are a total of 7 episodes in the book.
Book Description
Anatomy of Anorexia is a tremendous tool for families: now more than ever, early diagnosis and treatment, and family participation, are crucial in helping the anorexic. Preeminent therapist Steven Levenkron demystifies this life-threatening disease and shows how the millions of girls and women who are afflicted with anorexia can be helped--and can look forward to rich and productive lives.
Customer Reviews:
Very insightful and educational.......2007-07-19
I shared this book with my therapist because while I am a "recovered" anorexic, I still have occasional relapses. When I had one recently, I bought this book and devoured it. So much of the passages in the book spoke to me, and resonated with my own thoughts and feelings, that I felt it was vital to my therapy progress to discuss it. The main points that stood out were how much of an impact parental behavior can have on a child even if it's unintentional; that the nature of anorexia causes the sufferer to lock into very rigid thought and belief patterns that are extremely difficult to break.
Before others immediately criticize Levenkron for his ego and self-congratulatory attitude, think about the fact that treating anorexics is nigh-impossible, and any doctor who has found a method that works *should* be proud and should be congratulated. Anorexia and bulimia are hateful, destructive illnesses that are notoriously hard to treat. It's really akin to alcoholism. If he can help his patients, bully for him.
Awesome!.......2004-08-21
A VERY deep, compelling, and wonderful read. It has mini-stories of girls he has helped and what went on in their life to cause the eating disorder. He uses these examples to back up his theories about the why's of anorexia. This is SUCH a good book and it helped me understand myself better. My father read it too and it very pleased with it and feels like he knows me better because of it. This book is a definite and worth every penny to buy it; it is a good resource to have on hands.
Should Be Required Reading.......2002-07-13
Brilliant, elegantly written and insightful, Anatomy of Anorexia
by Steven Levenkron offers a panoramic view beyond most medical treatises and personal accounts on Anorexia. For parents, the medical community and laypersons seeking to understand this seemingly unfathomable condition, this book sheds light on the ever present and haunting question, "Why would a seemingly healthy child or young adult purposely starve?" If you're searching for answers to the poignant questions surrounding this disorder, Anatomy of Anorexia provides more than clues and theories. This book reveals a path that may very well lead to the light at the end of the dark tunnel for patients, families and caregivers dealing with this wrenching and heart breaking disorder. This is an invaluble guide that fills a need not completely met by other books on anorexia nervosa. I agree with a previous reviewer that this book may not be suitable reading for some sufferers of anorexia. The knowledge within could prove to be a two-edged sword for the patient who hasn't fully embraced the long journey to recovery.
Clear, comprehensive, and useful........2002-04-17
I've been teaching young adults on the college level for a couple of years now, and in that short amount of time, several of my female students have confided that they've struggled with eating disorders. This book helped me to understand what they went through, and it therefore has my unequivocal recommendation.
The strength of this book is that its author has written such a clear, easy-to-understand dissection the anatomy of anorexia. Levenkron analyzes factors contributing to anorexia; its effects on victims, their families, and friends; and several treatments. He uses explanations and case-study examples to demystify a disease that often seems inexplicable, making this a useful book for anyone who wants a clearer picture of anorexia.
Readers will come to understand the mental nature of anorexia as Levenkron does: as an obsessive-compulsive disorder. This concept is critical for family members and friends of anorexics to understand, for, as Levenkron states, it is impossible for anyone but a professional to cure an anorexic.
His major point: that the longer anorexia goes untreated, the more it strengthens its grasp on its victims, underscoring the need for *professional* help as early as possible. Therefore, if you think someone you know has an eating disorder, don't understand why, and don't know what to do about it, then this book is for you.
good book.......2001-12-29
This book was had lots of examples of his patients in it and the different types. Steven Levenkron explained anorexia very simply yet well. It is good for both readers who know about the disorder and people who are new to it. It is very comprehensive and breaks up the aspects of anorexia into different sections that are easier to manage.
Book Description
In an extensively revised new edition of the successful Anorexia and Bulimia, Richard Gordon includes new information and discussion of the latest ideas in this rapidly growing research field. There is extensive discussion of the clinical aspects of disorders, in particular their relationship to obsessive-compulsive disorder, plus data of recovery and mortality. It also provides accounts of the latest research on the epidemiological status of eating disorders and the subsequent debate that this work has engendered. Further new features include the analysis of the role of sexual abuse in eating disorders, the relationship of obesity to anorexia and bulimia, and consideration of the recent debates surrounding the politics of eating disorders. The past two decades have witnessed an enormous increase in the number of cases of eating disorders in industrial societies. Richard Gordon brings together historical and cultural perspectives, as well as his own clinical experience, in order to examine the sociocultural roots of this apparent epidemic. The high incidence of these once rare conditions in contemporary societies can be traced to a number of interrelated factors: the changing role of women, the increasingly difficult transition from adolescence to adulthood, the social importance attached to physical beauty which focuses on thin body shape, a general pursuit of health and fitness and, ironically, the glamorization of anorexia in the mass media which has made its symptoms fashionable.

Compassionate Insight into Modern Women.......2000-06-29
If you read only one book to understand eating disorders, makeit this one. One might almost say that if you read only one book to understand women in todays culture, read this one. It is a wonderful book, written with an insight and compassion for women in the modern world that is simply outstanding. You do not need to suffer from an eating disorder to make reading it worthwhile. If you or anyone you know has ever eaten the whole bag of cookies, the entire box of ice cream, the whole cake in one go, and wondered why, read this book. If you or anyone you know is chronically on a diet or worried about being fat, read this book. If you or anyone you love is simply a women in todays world trying to balance a career, marriage and children, it is worth reading this book I personally watched eating disorders proliferate according to the authors predicted pattern in Spain. Twenty years ago, Spain was still a fledgling democracy, and the doors to the outside world were just opening up after the death of Franco. The local pharmacy was stocked with traditional medicines in plain boxes. Today the shelves of the pharmacy prominently display anti-cellulite and diet products of every conceivable variety. Side by side is the changing role of women. Now Spain has its own feminine icons, the super-women who have husbands and careers, and children, and eating disorders. At the same time in England, Princess Diana was trying to help those suffering from eating disorders, but her publicity of her own anorexia added to the upper-class status and glamour of the disease. I can say the professionally critical things about this book - it is well-organized, clearly written, well-researched, and certainly very timely. But I am sure the authors wife and family, along with his clinical experience, must contribute to the compassionate understanding of individuals suffering from eating disorders, which complements the drier bones of research throughout this work.

Eating Disorders as "Cultural Diseases".......2002-06-11
This book is well-written and offers a fascinating theory: that eating disorders might be categorized as "cultural diseases." The idea of a cultural disease springs from the theory that in different cultures, there exist different unspoken rules for rebelling or acting out. The rules for this behaviour depend on social advances and fashion within the culture. Gordon compares anorexia and bulimia to other 'period' illnesses such as hysteria, and the interesting Asian cultural disease of 'running Amok.' This book is mainly theoretical (meaning it is not heavy on pure research data) but offers a fascinating point of view. It is also fast, easy reading for those interested in eating disorders, as well as concise.
