Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
The ducal court of Cosimo I de' Medici in sixteenth-century Florence was one of absolutist, rule-bound order. Portraiture especially served the dynastic pretensions of the absolutist ruler, Duke Cosimo and his consort, Eleonora di Toledo, and was part of a Herculean programme of propaganda to establish legitimacy and prestige for the new sixteenth-century Florentine court.
In this engaging and original study, Gabrielle Langdon analyses selected portraits of women by Jacopo Pontormo, Agnolo Bronzino, Alessandro Allori, and other masters. She defines their function as works of art, as dynastic declarations, and as encoded documents of court culture and propaganda, illuminating Cosimo's conscious fashioning of his court portraiture in imitation of the great courts of Europe. Langdon explores the use of portraiture as a vehicle to express Medici political policy, such as with Cosimo's Hapsburg and Papal alliances in his bid to be made Grand Duke with hegemony over rival Italian princes.
Stories from archives, letters, diaries, chronicles, and secret ambassadorial briefs, open up a world of fascinating, personalities, personal triumphs, human frailty, rumour, intrigue, and appalling tragedies. Lavishly illustrated, Medici Women: Portraits of Power, Love and Betrayal in the Court of Duke Cosimo I is an indispensable work for anyone with a passion for Italian renaissance history, art, and court culture.

Book Description
This book explores the multi-faceted career of Giorgio Vasari--painter, architect, artistic impresario, collector and biographer. The essays examine Vasari's working relationship with his advisor, Vincenzo Borghini, from the decoration of the Sala Regia at the Vatican to the master's last and greatest challenge, the cupola of Florence cathedral. Drawing on recently discovered documentary sources from the Vasari family archive,Vasari's Florence puts into new perspective the historiographical and artistic achievements of this pivotal Renaissance artist.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful Illustrations.......2001-09-20
The aims of this book are accurately described in the publisher's review in Amazon's editorial reviews section. While I would not characterize the writing as lively, it is clear and without jargon. The thesis of the book is well set out in Chapter One. The next five chapters, dealing with the 15th Century art of five lesser Renaissance courts, Naples, Urbino, Milan and Pavia, Ferrara, and Mantua, apply the thesis to the respective courts. These chapters are of varying interest, and occasionally are a bit tedious. The short final chapter treats succinctly the rise of Rome in the 16th Century and the decline of the princely courts. The book's excellent illustrations are tied into the text very well, and in my view are the best feature of the book.

Book Description
This new and exciting study is the first scholarly critical edition and the first ever translation into English of Berni's Dialogue Against Poets. The original publication of the dialogue in 1526 set it historically in the highly charged context of Rome and the court of the Medici pope, Clement VII. Not only is Berni presented here with reference to his historical and literary status, but other contemporary figures are also sketched against the politico-cultural background of Rome in the 1520s: the humanist poet, secretary, and envoy to Henry VII, Giovanni Battista Sanga; Bishop Giovan Matteo Giberti, Clement's datary and Berni's patron at the time of composition of the dialogue; the notorious poet and publicist, Pietro Aretino, indirect target of many of the barbs of the dialogue; Alessandro and Ippolito de' Medici; Desiderius Erasmus; and the printer and publisher of the first edition, Francesco Minizio Calvo.
Although there is a considerable literature on Berni's poetry, there is relatively sparse comment on his life as a letterato and no extended investigation of his first published work. This study seeks to redress this imbalance and to illuminate the dialogue's literary and historical dimensions. Berni's place in history is ripe for re-evaluation: Dialogue Against Poets reflects Berni's contemporary Italy in innumerable and the high level of its literary allusiveness is a model of Renaissance and humanist literary practice.
This new presentation reveals the impact which Berni had upon his contemporaries. Berni was an original writer who thought deeply about the intellectual and religious debates of the age and who, as a humanist secretary resident in the Vatican palace, experienced its political and other crises first-hand.

Want to know how - comic book guide.......2007-08-27
This is good for beginner and intermediate level artist. It will show you in a very simple way all the how-to's of pencilling. Good price also. It's part of three book set, Penciling, IOnking And Coloring comics - from DC comics
Pencil Neck.......2007-07-06
I was hoping that this book would be a more detailed guide to penciling. Most of the illustrations were inked, though. It also has a LOT of text, which makes it not so easy to sit and read while trying to actually draw. I would recommend the "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" over this book.
GREAT ADVICE FROM A PRO.......2007-03-31
I just received this book and immediately went to chapter fourteen. After reading chapter fourteen first I have to say that it was worth the price of the book.
VERY Little Info on Penciling.......2005-09-30
I can't recommend this book, which falls firmly in the category of works aimed at milking the purses of comics-artist wannabes. It also teeters right on the edge of the stuff that seems driven by an urge to discourage potential competition from entering the field. Plus it doesn't have any valuable info on penciling!!! Mitch Byrd's "Notes to Draw From" is a better resource.
Klaus Janson has worked on some major DC titles and apparently also teaches at the School of Visual Arts. Here he seems to be trying to pad out grudgingly little info on penciling with a sort of "why comics require super skills to draw" pedagogy that consumes more than 110 pages of an essentially 142-page book!
There's some good info in here I suppose, but the technical stuff always needs to be taken with a large block of salt. No one ever became a great artist by studying art. People become great artists by doing what they enjoy! The way to become an artist is by creating art. As you encounter challenges you look for solutions to problems and develop. In that sense this book might be useful. B-S- statements like "Drawing... requires study" etc etc do more harm than good IMHO.
The most important thing for would-be comics artists to remember is that the most successful guys in the field are Matt Groening and Scott Adams. They didn't get to the top through their knowledge of anatomy! Frank Cho is a brilliant draughtsman, but "Liberty Meadows" will never have the kind of circ "Doonesbury" had - back when Garry Trudeau was drawing little better than stick figures!
There are lots of books written from a viewpoint of encouraging young artists to learn while supporting them through their inevitable frustrations. Look for those books before wasting your time with this.
Useful.......2005-08-21
This is a useful guide no doubt, as with many other how-to books, however it's not at all the best I've seen.
I'd still recommend getting this book if you are an aspiring artist, because it's always important to stock a library of information within your field(s).

a large, well organized reference for speakers and such, but with many of these, timing and delivery will count.amd some are verrry old. which means someday they'll be new again.
Read a blank book and improve your mind.!".......2006-12-09
I was wondering what to pick as a title for this review when I came across this absolute gem for anyone who likes to read or is a bibliophile.
It appears on page 486 under putdowns. What a comeback to someone who suggests they are above wasteing their time reading.I have had this book "on the go" for months. I left it in a place where I could pick it up and read a few pages at a time;you can use your imagination to guess where. At 642 pages,it took months to finish, but I enjoyed every page of it.
Does this book really contain 10,000 gags, ancedotes, and one-liners? At 600 pages that would require over 15 per page.A brief scan shows there are ,on an average that many. Not only that ,I notice there is another one of his joke books entitled "More of the best of Milton Berle's Private Joke File", also containing 10,000 others. Yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus ,and yes Virginia Berle has left us 20,000 jokes in these two books.
The book is very well arranged, as other reviewers have mentioned, both alphabetically as well as over 500 categories. It is not an easy thing to assemble so many unrelated jokes in a manner that makes it easy to find them. For instance, take a joke anout two old soldiers, fishing in Lake Erie,a storm comes up ,one grabs the beer, the other the bucket of fish,...and that is only the start of the ancedote. Now,where to file it ;under old guys, soldiers, fishing, boat, beer, storm ,bucket,Lake Erie or what;see the problem. Even one as short as my title;it appears under "H" ,then under "heckle lines" on page 313. However; it also appears under "P" and "Putdowns" on page 486. However;if you look under Reading, you won't find it;nor will you find it under "Books" as that is not even listed as a category.
I particularly like to use jokes about birds, books and puzzles ;so when I come across those type of jokes, I make columns on the blank pages at the back of the book, where I jot down the page number where I found one on those sumjects. Otherwise, you can drive yourself bonkers trying to relocate on when you want to find it.
I'm not knocking how this book is referenced, but there is only so much a editor can do.That old adage sure applies; "God helps those who help themselves".
The book also has some real good information in the last 20 pages called "Tricks of the Trade" where Berle gives us some of the things he has learned over a long career of being a successful, and one of the best, in the world of humor.
A wonderful collection of humor for all ages and doesn't have to stoop to obsenity to get a laugh.Berle belongs with the giants in humor;Bob Hope,Myron Cohen,Red Skelton,Danny Kaye,Jackie Gleason,Jack Benny,Red Buttons,Rodney Dangerfield,Art Carney ,Danny Thomas ,Phil Silvers,Hal Roach, just to name a few;...and boy do we miss them.
If You Can Find A Better Joke Book, Go Out And Buy It!.......2006-01-17

" Milton, it's bigger than both of us".......2005-06-29
Uncle Milty, now gone. Ten- thousand jokes from his file in one volume. Uncle Milty reportedly would ask his audience to name a subject and he would immediately reply with a joke. Here some of them are, in five- hundred categories and over six- hundred pages. A lot of jokes.
And a lot of them not very funny.
And some of them sort of funny.
And some very funny.
Jokes, anecdotes, puns, little stories. The whole bag.
But of course without the intonation, and the look, and all the million and one tricks that Milty made us laugh with.
The king of the comedians.
One little story tells here about Milty and his famous show- business mother who pushed him everywhere. He was what he had to be. If they needed an Italian kid he did an Italian accent. If they needed an Irish kid he did that . One time an agent came and said to the mother that they needed a dog in a certain show. She immediately turned to her son and said ' Bark'.
And of course he did , the star of the Texaco Theatre who in television's first years on Tuesday nights made America look at the little box and laugh.
This book should be in the library not only of those who love and practice humor, but in the library of those nostalgic for the America of another time.
Uncle Milty lived to about ninety or so before he said good- bye. Of them all the only one who was still able to thank him for the memories was Bob Hope who made it I believe to one- hundred.
What an America it was. And it's gone.
If I was 80, this book might be funnier........2002-01-19
I had seen Milton Berle on TV and he seemed funny them, so I bought this book and was ever so disappointed. Over 600 pages and under 100 laughs, and that includes groaners. H. Allen Smith jokebooks, if you can still find them, are better written and so much funnier. The editor of this book also bears some responsibility for this book as it is obivous he cut nothing. The book carries far too many vaudeville and burlesque bits that might have been funny before the depression. Sadder still are the inclusion of racist and ethnic stereotype jokes with a poor rationale of why these jokes are OK to tell. Again, the editor of the book deserves some blame here. For the price of this book, one could purchase any single George Carlin, Richard Pryor, etc. CD and it would provide more laughs and be a better value.
