Book Description
Sam Kinkade is finally feeling at home as a minister in rural Toms Brook, Virginia, content with his life and Shenandoah Valley congregation. But his plans to welcome the area's growing Hispanic community are being met with resistance. Fortunately, when the church-run community center is threatened, a stranger named Elisa Martinez walks through his door and Sam realizes he has found a woman capable of building bridges.
Elisa isn't looking to make connections. She has come to Toms Brook to hide. But despite her fears of discovery she is enchanted by the beautiful work of -- and the friendship offered by -- the women who invite her to join their quilting circle. And even though she fears the consequences for both of them, she finds herself powerfully drawn to Sam, and to the generations-old love story rooted in the town's past.
Will she and Sam repeat the past, or can they find the love and the freedom they seek at last?

Endless Chain.......2007-02-11
Very well written. Hard to put down. Characters interesting and believable.
Endless Chain (Shenandoah Album).......2006-08-20
I read the first book in this series (Wedding Ring) and could not wait to get this book. Emilie Richards writes a very nice story and it keeps you tuning the pages. It is a great story about the lives of many people and the trials and tribulations each person goes through. This book is a great read and when you finish the book you can't wait to read Emilie Richards next one.
I highly recommend this book.
Reading Quilter.......2006-08-15
In the tradition of her first quilting novel, Emilie Richards has continued the story of Toms Creek,VA.
Ms. Richards continues to develop the characters from the first book in this trilogy, while introducing new and exciting people from the community. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Elisa and Sam and how they both fit so intricately into the fabric of this area. You can easily image yourself as part of this community and look forward to seeing how the story will "turn out." This story is one to be read and savored.
In addition, I encourage those readers who are also quilters, to explore the quilting books that go along with the stories. Ms. Richards descriptions of the quilts in the book makes you want to see the quilts themselves.
Quilters Joy.......2006-06-26
I picked up this book after reading the first of the Shenandoah series. The first book was sweet and a fun read but this book was terrific. The story was wonderful! I loved the characters and was glad to see the characters back from the first book. The Author understands quilters, their quirks and the beauty of the art that they love.
Beautifully Enticing!.......2006-02-18
I am an Emilie Richards fan. I have read just about all of her books and this one is definitely one of the best ones in her collection. I am really happy to see that the characters that I love so much in The Wedding Ring have been reintroduced in this book even though they are just supporting characters. Nancy, Helen and Tessa are back only this time, the story revolves around Rev. Sam Kinkade and Elisa Martinez. Sam Kinkade is the young reverend that has taken over the small community church. He has also set up the parsonage house to be an afterschool tutoring program to help teach English to the Hispanic children in the community. Elisa is a young Hispanic woman who is hired to be the church's sexton. She also works at the local nursing home.
They both have histories that neither are willing to share but have baggage in which neither could trust the other just yet. Sam is also engaged to a lovely woman named Christine who lives in Atlanta. However, he could feel an intense attraction to Elisa who is also surrounded by mysteries of her own. And this novel is their story.
This is perhaps one of the most intense-written novels in awhile that is from Richards' collection. This one has another story written into Elisa's story ~~ there is a story of a runaway slave tied to Elisa's past ~~ and Elisa's life runs parallel to it. Elisa is also a runaway but from a different sort of circumstances. Richards really writes more intensely of a political nature that is surprising as well ~~ she writes intimately of a civil right that most Americans have taken for granted, freedom from being perscuted by the government.
This is a compelling book ~~ one that you will not be able to put down. I cannot believe that other readers have not discovered Emilie Richards ~~ I have always found her books readable and likable and just wonderfully written. This book is much better than a lot of her earlier works ~~ and more enticing too. It may be about two people who meet each other and fall in love ~~ but it also had other stories tied up in that romance. It is about people and dreams and memories and where they have been before they met their soulmate and what is going to happen next. It is a book that keeps you interested in what is going to happen with the characters long after the last page has been turned. It is a book about life.
If you haven't read Richards' books yet, I highly recommend that you start with this one. It is the second book in the Shenandoah Album series (the first one would be The Wedding Ring) ~~ but you can start with this one as her books are not written in a sequel ~~ just of familiar characters introduced in Wedding Ring.

Book Description
Pose
That's all Melody, an ex-model and recent divorcee, has been doing for years. Posing for the camera. Posing as a happy wife.
Focus
Now she's ready to concentrate on her own life. She's returned to her hometown to start a career behind the camera. And her girlfriends think it's the perfect time to revive a list they dreamed up years ago: the five men she'd be allowed to sleep with, no matter what!
Shoot
But someone seems to be narrowing down the list for her, and her ideal men are turning up dead from suspicious causes. Melody turns to local homicide detective Nick Walker for help -- but if they don't catch the killer soon, she's going to need a new list!
Customer Reviews:
Mysterious Romance.......2006-07-07
This book isn't chick lit and it's not mystery. It's a romance dressed up with some witty diaglogue and steamy scenes.Predictable plot, family values and outcome. A good beach read for those who like modern romances.
Chick Lit with a clever twist........2006-05-03
Mix well crafted chick lit with a mystery thrown in for good measure and you have She's Got The Look. This clever and funny novel features recently divorced Melody who returns to Savannah to start over again. A drunken joke years earlier catches up with her in a bizarre way when a list of the five men that she would most like to sleep with turns up and the men on the list start dying. Number 1 man on her fantasy list turns out to be the lead detective on the case. Throw in a stalker and dysfunctional relationships with her ex and her family and you have the makings of an enjoyable and believable read. Leslie Kelly does a great job of blending romance, tragedy, and humor and her characters are both likeable and believable.
Lots of sexy fun.......2006-03-06
I liked this book for its humor and the friendship between the heroine and her friends as much as for the main two characters. But my favorite moment in the whole thing was the viagra overdose. The weird deaths of the men on the heroine's "sex list" were a special perk over and above the terrific romance between the hero and the heroine.
It had so much promise.......2006-02-25
It had so much promise. Really, when I bought this book I was thinking along the lines of Linda Howard's Mr. Perfect, which was a much better book. But when I got to reading this book, I was disappointed. I hate being plopped into the middle of a series and not know it, with back stories and characters that talk about stories that I don't know. And She's Got the Look did that. In the end, I found I didn't care if the hero or heroine got together or not.
Hot Funny Mystery Novel.......2005-11-12
`She's got the look' by Leslie Kelly is one of the best books I have read it quite sometime. This is funny, hot story with `keep you guess mystery.' Melody and her friends make a list of the men who that could sleep with - without quilt. When Melody finds herself divorced years later and the men on her list start dying things get weird. Her number one man is now a detective looking into the bizarre consequences. I have ordered `She Drives Me Crazy' by Leslie Kelly and I can wait for the next adventure.

Move Over Rudolf Rassendyll!.......2002-04-25
Michael Karl's dreams for the future do *not* include becoming the monarch of an obscure Ruritanian kingdom but he soon discovers he has no say in the matter. He, the result of a misalliance between a Morvanian Prince and an American girl, is now the sole heir to the throne.
However not all of his future subjects are welcoming. On his way to his capital Michael Karl is captured and threatened by a rebel leader known as the Werewolf, apparently because he is one! Escaping Michael lands on the doorstep of an American Journalist in the guise of a distressed fellow citizen resolutely concealing his royal identity.
All Michael wants is to go home to America but even incognito he can't help but get caught up in the political turmoil of his ancestral land and begins to wonder if maybe the Werewolf doesn't have a point after all.

Book 2 in Cordina's Royal Family
A New York Times Bestseller
In Eve Hamilton's youth, His Royal Highness Alexander de Cordina played the part of a fairy-tale prince. But seven years ago Eve had learned that its villains were undeniably real, and put her childhood dreams behind her. Now Alexander?s request brought Eve, along with her theatrical troupe, back to Cordina. She still took his breath away, but it soon became clear that the dangers wouldn?t remain in the past -- and neither would the desires.
Customer Reviews:
Another Good Command Performance By Nora Roberts!.......2002-06-05
It is a well known fact that romance novels must have a happily ever after ending. Therefore if the outcome is predictable, most romance readers would agree it is the journey which keeps them reading this genre. And if romance novels are your choice of reading matterm few write them as well as Nora Roberts.
Command Performance is the second book in the Cordina Royal Family series. In this book, the author focuses on Prince Alex, the heir to the throne of Cordina. Prince Alex, at 30, shows all the makings of a fine leader soemday. But he has yet to find a wife or provide the country with a future heir. But that may soon change. Inviting Eve Hamilton to dierct a command performance in Cordina, Alex finds this American woman just as lovely as wen he first met her seven years before. But there new fiound relationship at first is quite adversarial as at first each found fault with the other. But the readers has only to watch as Nora Roberts weaves her romance magic to find these two falling in love given some time.
Those who have already read the first book in this series, Affaire Royale will enjoy their return to the fairytale country of Cordina and the inhabitants of the Royal Palace. Many will also remember Eve Hamilton and the crucial role she played in that title.
I heartily recommend this title particularly if you enjoy series in general or perhaps Nora Roberts's series. Now I look forward to reading the third book in the series, The Playboy Prince.
enjoyable book to read.......2000-04-17
This is the second book for the Cordina's Royal Family series. This book give you more facts on the characters in the first book (Affaire Royale) and it also sets the stage for the final book(The Playboy Prince). It is also an enjoyable book to read by all by itself. I highly recommmend you read not just this book, but the first and last book as well.

A trio of nationally respected childhood-development scientists hailing from Berkeley and the University of Washington has authored The Scientist in the Crib to correct a disparity: while popular books about science speak to intelligent, perceptive adults who simply want to learn, books about babies typically just give advice, heavy on the how-to and light on the why. The authors write, "It's as if the only place you could read about evolution was in dog-breeding manuals, not in Stephen Jay Gould; as if, lacking Stephen Hawking's insights, the layman's knowledge of the cosmos was reduced to 'How to find the constellations.'"
The Scientist in the Crib changes that. Standing on the relatively recent achievements of the young field of cognitive science (pointing out that not so long ago, babies were considered only slightly animate vegetables--"carrots that could cry"), the authors succinctly and articulately sum up the state of what's now known about children's minds and how they learn. Using language that's both friendly and smart (and using equally accessible metaphors, everything from Scooby-Doo to The Third Man), The Scientist in the Crib explores how babies recognize and understand their fellow humans, interpret sensory input, absorb language, learn and devise theories, and take part in building their own brains.
Such science makes for great reading, but will likely prove even more useful to readers with a scientist in their own crib, acting as tonic to pseudoscientific how-to baby books that recommend everything "from flash cards, to Mozart tapes, to Better Baby Institutes." As the authors put it, "We want to understand children, not renovate them." --Paul Hughes

This book combines two worlds -- children and science -- in an entirely unique way that yields exciting discoveries about both. The authors show that by the time children are three, they've solved problems that stumped Socrates with an agility computers still can't match. The Scientist in the Crib explains just how, and how much, babies and young children know and learn, and how much parents naturally teach them. In fact, The Scientist in the Crib argues that evolution designed us to both teach and learn. Nurture is our nature, and the drive to learn is our most important instinct.
The new science of children also reveals insights about our adult capacities, helping to solve some ancient questions: How do we know there really is a world out there? How do we know that other people have minds like ours? It turns out that we find solutions to these problems when we are very small. But these astonishing capabilities don't disappear in later life, as the authors show in their engaging discussion of humans' potential for learning. In fact, they argue that even very young children -- as well as adults use some of the same methods that allow scientists to learn so much about the world.
Written by three top scientists -- themselves parents -- who conducted much of the pioneering research in this field, The Scientist in the Crib is vivid, lucid, and often funny. Filled with surprises at every turn, it gives us a new view of the inner life of children and the mysteries of the mind.

at least 6 stars.......2007-06-27
the most amaizing and surprising book, written
with humour and love ; as a physical therapist i am working with small babies,
i recommend this book to everybody who has a baby or works with
them.
Dull and not what i expected.......2007-01-09
Too much filler, not enough actual content regarding how babies learn and how their brain and minds develop. I found this book boring, repetitive and slow- a real disappointment.
Technical but informative.......2006-11-05
Not written to entertain but to help explain their research into the thoughts of babies and how they learn. Example: Follows their experiment on babies and foreign languages, even though these children can't talk yet!
a must-read for new parents.......2006-08-14
There have been so many times since my son was born that I've wondered just what's going on in there. How we can wordlessly communicate, and how much I think he really understands about what's going on around him. This book does an excellent job of demystifying the mind of a baby and explains it in an engaging way. A perfect gift for new parents.
Well-writen survey of current developmental psychology.......2005-07-08
This book is a concise, readable summary of recent science on baby brain development. A nice antidote to all the urban-legend-based/ new-age/ guilt-and-paranoia/ baby literature out there.

Don't let the authors' titles fool you into thinking that their book will provide some profound insight into the mind of babies. This is a book for the very young moms to read, something to pass idle time. It is also a book for other Ph.D.'s who have been brainwashed clear of any senses.
This book is like a cross between a pseudo-science with prose writing written by hippies. These Ph.D.'s are good at stating the obvious. Their first-grade level research certainly can be supported by what little income provided from selling this book.
At their rate of understanding babies world, they'd be lucky if they can produce a worthwhile book 50 years from now.
