100 Paintings.......2007-02-07
Great book displaying 100 miniature paintings by Tim Biskup. Also has a nice short introduction telling the history of the project and what inspired him to do it.
Two Biskups.......2006-02-23
An inspiration, the only problem being that 100 is far too small a number. So here I am waiting for the 500
Feel good factor: +++.......2006-02-01
Here's a little gem for you. It's on my bedside table just in case I'd feel grumpy or can't get out of bed again. Within seconds Tim Biskup has me in a world of beautiful colours, frisky little birds and happy monsters. The 1:1 scaled pictures are so powerfull, they'll bring me right into Tim's mind. What a trip! Enjoy it everytime I look in it, Mr. Biskup makes this world a better place and his paintings make me jump out of bed with a big smile! Goodmorning! Time for breakfast!!!
An absolute steal at this price!.......2004-05-11
You've got to be kidding that this book sells for as little as it does. No doubt the diminutive size of each reproduction figures into the low price, but the quality is first rate throughout. Tim's imaginative renderings (at actual size in the reproduction) are bright and crisp and colorful and energetic and...and..and.... If your house, like mine, is filled with coffee table art books, this bite size morsel is just perfect to fill in the little crack left in a wall of books. Not only do you get spectacular images, Tim has included information in the back about when and where each picture was shown. Each image is placed on a black matte background which launches the image toward you. The binding in the book is first rate and will last well into the future when it becomes that hard to find collectors' item in 3004. And if you're reading this review you know you don't even have to get up and go out the door to get it, so get it!

Book Description
After a decomposed body is discovered in an abandoned military tunnel, Inspector Aurelio Zen travels north to the Italian Alps to investigate. At first glance, the death appears to have been an accident. But when Zen takes a closer look, a mysterious tattoo begins to tell a much more sinister tale, especially after the body is snatched from the morgue. As Zen races to discover the inner workings of a clandestine military organization named Medusa, he is reminded of just how lethal Italian history can be.
Medusa takes us on an exploration of the dark history of post-war Italy and a modern-day sightseeing tour of what Zen calls Italia Lite. In the urbane and pragmatic Zen, world-class mystery novelist Michael Dibdin has given us a detective unlike any other. And in this latest installment of this critically acclaimed series, we are treated to a mystery that drips with intrigue and a thriller so satisfying the pages cannot be turned fast enough.

not the best translation, but still Saint Seiya.......2004-06-13
This is a great Manga!!! Anyone who likes saint seiya should definitely give it a look. There are some bad translations, and its up to you if you can stomach the many changes.
Saints have been changed to Knights (which isnt really a big deal because its the same in the other countries)
Saori's name has been changed to princess sienna(princess???)
Cygnus has been changed to swan
jabu has been changed to jab the unicorn
Mitsumasa Kiddo has been changed to lord Nobu
cosmo has been changed to universe (although they occasionally slip up and say cosmo)
At first the new names feel like knives piercing your eyes, but it wont bother you that much, the great story and artwork is intact. So I definitely reccomend this book, but if you cant stomach the translations I think you should either buy a different language version or the great saint seiya dvds by adv.
translation - C
The translation is good but the name changes are a definite negative, fortunately the comic only adopts the name changes from its cartoon network cousin...You wont find any saints, err knights saying dude here!
Artwork - B+
The artwork is crisp and I like the style Kurumada uses. Youll definitely see some eyecandy. I detracted some points for the crazy cloth desings.
Story - B
the plot moves a little slow but slowly start to pick up.
overall - B-
I reccomend
story is beginning to move again.......2004-05-04
I consider the second book as a filler between 1 and 3. This is where the story gets picked up. One of the central character is introduced, and the real conflict begins.
characters introduced...not much else........2004-04-21
The book 2 is used to introduce three more important characters to the story. There are lots of action, but not much else. It's not essential that you get this book to understand future books because there wasn't any new development in the story.
Quit Whining.......2004-02-10
Look, it's great that you know how to read Japanese or read the Spanish version, but most of us don't or didn't. Masami Kurumada is one of the very best and most creative story teller there is. I don't think the essence of his story is getting lost. Some existential topics like what it means to be a being in the universe and relationship between cosmos and self is discussed, but never in a boring way (Marin crushes a rock to illustrate this point). It's a fantastic book, and it sets up a greater story line.
My Japanese friend used to tell me about this book, and I'm so glad to finally have something I can read. If you are intested in getting a great book that's fun and exciting; pick this up.
Killing a Classic.......2004-01-27
Saint Seiya is a great Anime and Manga but there killing it when they brought it to the US why is it so poorly translated? they need to get some new people working for them. I wonder if Massami Kurumada knows how bad there tranlations are. Mexico did a better job of translation i'm glad i know spanish so i won't have to suffer the poor voice overs and translations.

Collecting Tomb Raider issues #1-#5 this trade paperback collection brings the action and adventure of the video game sensation to comics! Written by award winning writer and artist Dan Jurgens (Superman, Common Grounds) and industry superstar artist Andy Park (X-Men, Witchblade) this trade paperback brings the adventures of this film and video game heroine to the world of comics!
Customer Reviews:
The Classiest Comic Top Cow Ever Did.......2005-09-21
I was never a huge video game junkie, but I did read the Tomb Raider comics because of the creators. Dan Jurgens was at the top of his game when he wrote these issues, having finished a decade-long successful run on Superman as writer and artist, and also having started what would become a critically-acclaimed run on Thor that will be remembered for years to come. Andy Park was the most unlikely Top Cow artist EVER! At a company whose reputation is built around often trashy cheesecake illustrations of half-dressed women, somehow Andy Park was picked to draw the most famous woman in their stable of characters: Lara Croft. Breaking Top Cow's mold, Park drew Lara with realistic proportions and kept her dressed most of the time. Instead of the sleazy art of Witchblade, Tomb Raider remained very classy. His Lara was still sexy, but she could also realistically be a role model for young girls. And coupled with Jurgens' Indiana Jones/James Bond-type stories, it all made for a fun read.
Any Jurgens-Park stories are recommended.
Mediocre story, great artwork.......2005-07-30
I used to love this comic series. For a while, it was the only comic I read. Looking back, it's hard to tell what was so enthralling about it. The plots were unimaginative and preidictable, and the books themselves were way too short. Seriously, each took about three minutes to read. This was all very irritating, but I still kept buying the books. Andy Park's spectacular art made it worthwhile. I lost interest in the series soon after Mr. Park stopped doing the pencil work for it.
"Saga of the Medusa Mask" collects the first story arc of the Tomb Raider series. If you're interested in the series, this is a good place to start. Although you shouldn't expect too much, this IS a damn good comic when you consider that it's based on a video game!
GREAT!.......2001-06-19
I loved it. The art work was fantastic, and Lara isn't a helpless female victim in the movies. She's tough! The second book gets better, so try it, she's a lot better than the video game, in my opinion.
Tomb Raider Comic Book Series.......2001-01-19
The Tomb Raider series has now been turned into a monthly comic book from Top Cow and this special edition combines the first thee part story that intros the series. You meet Lara Croft, world reknown explorer, her butler and an old ex boyfriend in the form of Chaser Carver who always manages to get to Lara and makes for some great banter between the two.
In this special edition you will learn a bit more about Lara Croft and some info on her mother.
The artwork is simply great and proves that Top Cow has once again managed to give us another strong well written female action hero. Lara is drawn just the way you imagine her to be.
Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider, Read all about it!!.......2000-11-19

Book Description
This study focuses on one of the first novelists to introduce a version of magical realism and the neo-baroque into Latin American fiction. Original research colours eyewitness accounts of Alejo Carpentier's travels through Spain before and during the Spanish Civil War and the inspiration that he drew from the Baroque architecture he encountered there. The origins of Carpentier's uniquely 'baroque' style are found in his endeavour to create a period ambience in his historical fictions through descriptions of visual arts and architectural settings, and parodies of the literary style of Spanish Golden Age writers. 'Medusa's gaze' is used as a metaphor for the petrifying power of the Baroque as a weapon of European dominance. By wielding the same weapon in an act of postcolonial defiance, Carpentier enabled a reassertion of Latin American culture, and laid the foundations for the 1960s 'Boom' in the Latin American novel. Book Description

Customer Reviews:
Realistic & Practical Cancer Battle Plan.......2006-08-07
This book is very helpful in navigating the minefield of cancer. I wish I had seen it earlier. The advice and insight
of a knowledgable physician in the same predicament was clear,
relevant, sensitive, and practical. The dominant format is question and answer so you can quickly access and address personal concerns first. It is also extremely helpful in knowing what to ask the oncologists and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment process. I would highly recommend this book to any new cancer patient, but it is also very appropriate for cancer survivors and care givers.
If You Only Get One Book About Cancer, Make It This One.......2001-08-31
This book is excellent! It is for anyone who has just received a cancer diagnosis, as well as for those around them who care.
It covers everything that you need to understand during those first few months, and it does so in an easy to understand, straight forward manner. It is written with wisdom, experience, and kindness. This book helped me immensely when my Mother was
diagnosed with cancer in March 2001 - having no prior experience or knowledge of what cancer was about. This is the book to get to arm you with enough information that you can help yourself.
"How can I help?".......2000-01-07
When I was diagnosed with cancer, many friends confided that they felt helpless and didn't know how to help. Well, here's something you CAN do for a friend who's just learned that he or she has cancer: Buy this book! It's got the most important, practical information that a new cancer patient needs first. Also, it's hopeful and encouraging yet absolutely reliable, medically speaking -- a rare combination among "popular" cancer literature.
Wonderful book with practical advice.......1999-11-07
I have bought this book over and over and given it to friends and relatives of newly diagnosed patients in addition to patients. Dr. Harpham has a way of writing that makes even medical information easy to get through. Her advice is accurate and helpful. A must for everyone whose life has recently been touched by newly diagnosed cancer.
Perfect for the very scary time when you first find out!.......1997-04-21
This book is written in short sections which do not have to be read in order. You read the section that has the info you need NOW.
The writing is simple and easy to understand. The author is very understanding and gives GREAT SUGGESTIONS on how to cope.
Good also for family and friends of the cancer pt
