Book Description
Top Two Don'ts for the Office Party.
--Don't dress in a revealing manner.
(Translation: Don't wear the sexy scarlet, size-eight dress you couldn't fit into three months ago. The one that flaunts your firmed-up cleavage and newly discovered collarbones.)
--Don't make a spectacle of yourself.
(Translation: Don't get drunk and make out with a really cute stranger for the whole company to see; he could turn out to be your boss's roommate.)
I didn't follow these tips and here I am with a hot new man in my life, Jack. But my friends are asking if I really want to bump into my boss in his boxers in the hallway of their apartment. After all, I am aiming for a promotion.
And now, not only does my ex want me back, but the guy I used to think was Mr. Right just kissed me!
Three months ago I couldn't hold on to one guy. Now three want me. When did my life become so complicated?

Great easy read .......2007-10-05
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and it made me laugh. One of the reasons I really liked it, I was able to get through it pretty quickly, so it didn't take out too much of my studying time. And I love when a book actually makes me laugh out loud.
Perfect.......2007-01-02
I just finished this book, and have to say how much I enjoyed it. It was fast paced, funny, sacarstic and just my favorite kind of writing. I can't wait to read more from this author.
More than Slightly..........2006-01-24
There is much to be said about a nice, easy-to-read novel. The Red Dress Ink offerings are soothing, fun and very addictive. Wendy Markham's effort, Slightly Settled, is definitely one of the better ones.
Slightly Settled tells the story of newly-single gal, Tracy Spadolini. It's been three months since her boyfriend of three years, Will, dumped her for another girl, and Tracy finally decides it's time to get back out there. Newly slim (after being prescribed "happy pills" to curb her panic attacks and, surprisingly, her appetite), Tracy has no problem hooking up with sexy Jack at the office Christmas party. The downside? Jack is Tracy's boss's roommate, and catching Mike in the hallway in his underwear does not a good day make!
However, that turns out to be the least of Tracy's problems. Besides catching grief from her friends about dating too soon after her breakup, it seems her ex doesn't know how to leave her alone. Plus, her friend, Buckley, who would make a great Mr. Right, somehow manages to insert himself into the picture, too.
Life is suddenly complicated, and even Tracy's weekly therapy sessions don't help much in figuring out what to do. Wendy Markham's story plays out in a freshly realistic way, and watching as Tracy works out her problems (or tries to!) keeps the reader turning pages quickly. Very light and fun, Slightly Settled is one book that will have you more than slightly entertained.
Slightly Settled.......2006-01-01
Very funny you will love the main character. One of those you won't be able to put down until done.
Adequate read, poor sequel.......2005-02-15
I read Slightly Single in 2001 and thought it was a pleasant read. I was excited to hear that the author had decided to continue the story of Tracey, a recently single woman. However, while the book was the light-hearted read I was looking for, I was annoyed at how indecisive Tracey is and the constant mention (even through the last page) of her ex-boyfriend, Will.
This book was not a good sequel to Slightly Single and I found myself utilimately dissapointed. As a light-hearted "beach read" this book fulfilled my needs on an adequate, but not excellent, level.
Book Description
For every girl who's ever endured a long, hot urban summer on her own, Slightly Single is the summer breeze you've been waiting for!
A heat wave in Manhattan is enough to drive a girl crazy, and for Tracey Spadolini, a 24-year old New York transplant who's been "left behind" for the summer, there's even more to sweat about. Her Slightly Significant Other, Will, will be returning from summer stock in September, to pick up where they left off. (Or will he?)
But, in the days after Will's departure, Tracey decides it's time for a reality check. Her un-air-conditioned East Village apartment is a dump, her entry-level ad job sucks, her thighs don't seem to be getting any thinner, and Will seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. So, Tracey, with the help of her friends and one very attentive guy, decides to spend her summer reinventing herself . . . and taking a chance on liking the new woman she becomes.
A refreshingly honest account of universal female dilemmas, Slightly Single is an engaging story of one young woman's search for happiness.

My thoughts.......2007-08-30
To the person that really likes romance and funny books this book is for them. I really liked it a lot. It is very captivating and intrigreging to watch what goes on in her life. I could really relate to her at some points.
Easy Summer Read.......2007-07-30
As a commuter I need something to keep my attention on my 1 hour train ride. This book did the trick! I'm certainly looking forward to the "Slight..." books to follow!
book review.......2007-07-06
I loved this book. I could relate to Tracy, she was such an everyday girl. It made me laugh out loud, clever writting, and thrilled there was a part two. It's a must have for your "chick lit" collection.
This book is so real, it hurts.......2006-07-05
Markham has painted a realistic portrait of the desperation, the struggle and the pain of maintaining a suffering relationship. Without spoilerizing, she has created a masterpiece. This is NOTHING like the insipid 'chick lit' that is saturating our literary choices. The characters are solid, well-written, so much so, it is like looking a reality TV without the glare of lights or the camera. The reader will laugh, cry, cringe and ride the bumpy ride of the this wonderful book.
Although it was a library book, I will plan to purchase the "Slightly..." series.
Enjoyable.......2006-05-07
Another novel about a 20-something single woman living in NYC...or is it? This story follows the life of Tracey Spadolini as she tries to recreate herself in order to win back a philandering boyfriend. Very similar to Bridget Jones, but with a slightly different spin. I really enjoyed this light reading.

Book Description
Eric Schaeffer has always believed that when the time was right and he was ready that he would find the Big One (an intelligent, sexy, loving wife).
But his last girlfriend said no to his proposal, and since then he hasn’t met anyone he wanted to have a second date with. This is a wild, sometimes raunchy, sometimes poignant, and always honest account of a semi-famous man’s attempts at love.

Still a narcissist.......2007-09-20
Ever wonder why recovering alcoholics and drug-addicts are so often still happy to remain raging narcissists? Here's another shining example of one of them. I think it's high time for a thirteenth step in the Program.
Eric Schaeffer gives yoga a bad name.......2007-09-03
This has to be the worst book I've read since Prozac Nation. Same narcissistic logorrhea. Pretends to be honest with himself, but it's amazing how blind he remains throughout. I have enough confidence in yoga to think if he keeps practicing he might get there, but I found nothing redemptive in 317 pages. He doesn't even like himself enough to breathe between dates. He's the guy you run from, believe me.
A much better read, and real self honesty, though not a great book either, is Sex, Love, and Dharma. This guy hasn't found the one either, but he's a LOT closer, and his path seems way more genuine.
I loved it!.......2007-08-31
This book had my attention from beginning until the end. It was hilarious, thought provoking, real, and emotionally insightful. Eric has obviously evolved such that he is comfortable revealing those inner most thoughts and feelings which most of us would rather die than verbalize to another person. I will encourage all of my friends.....who strive for self awareness......to take this journey.
Inspiring, sweet, insane, warm, in your face, and polarizing.......2007-08-28
I am surprised at the amount of anger this book has received. Eric Schaeffer is opening showing his entire life, good and bad, under a brilliant and well written light. You don't have to like him or respect his choices, but the fearlessness of his honesty is inspiring.
Is his life for everyone? No, but the point of the book isn't Mr. Schaeffer telling the world it would be better if only it was entirely like him. If fact he starts the book saying that's not the case.
The sometimes hilarious, sometimes frustrating choices he makes can be polorizing, but I don't think it deserves the spite some people are giving it.
And I don't think he gives a bad name to Yoga, I think he gives a real quality to it. Nobody is perfect all the time. Nobody is anything all the time. We just strive to be the best person we can be in singular moments of our lives. That is what Eric Schaeffer is trying to do, and I applaud him for it.
A Self Review.......2007-08-23
Like all arrogant and delusional men, I've always believed that when I was ready, I could easily land a smart, funny, sexy, warm, loving wife. "When you build it, she will come." That's what I've been told all my life by my mommy, and she is very objective. "The girls are just going to line up when you say the word." Well, I'm ready. I've made several crappy movies that have been unanimously hated by critics and audiences everywhere. That's quite an accomplishment, wouldn't you say? After all, there are a lot of commercial movies that get bad reviews, and a lot of well-reviewed movies that do terribly in the box office, but both critics and audiences agree that my films suck.
All this and I can't even meet someone who will put up with my innocent questions on the first date (have you ever been raped by your father?), or who are attracted by my candor ("nice breasts"--also on the first date), or who feel sorry enough for desperate little me to marry me. There's no justice in this world.
I fooled my last girlfriend for quite some time, but in the end she saw the light and left me on my knee with a ring in my hands and tears in my eyes. Since then I've tried speed dating, Yentas, blind dates, Internet dating, meeting girls at the gym and yoga, on the subway and on the street. Actresses, models, lawyers, social workers, teachers, comediennes, even hookers, special massage girls and dominatrixes and nothing! I know I reek of desperation, but it's an attractive scent! Seriously. Just come near me and sniff me. I'll do the same with you.
I simply cannot believe I'm still single at 45. This is my story. Just a regular unattractive moron looking for love and unable to find it... for the rest of my life.

Book Description
With its hilariously honest look at the single male in America -- from his apartment furnishings to his career struggles to his dating habits -- Bruce Jay Friedman's book The Lonely Guy's Book of Life quickly became a hit when it first appeared in 1978, winning raves from critics and inspiring Steve Martin's classic cult comedy The Lonely Guy. Twenty years later, Friedman returned to the subject with The Slightly Older Guy, finding his quarry no longer alone and not so young anymore, but just as funny. Now these classic humor books are available together for the first time in a single paperback edition from Grove Press. With a new afterword about "The Considerably Older Guy," this edition deals with such topics as divorce and grandchildren. Offering advice on exercise (walk, don't run) and insomnia (read Solzhenitsyn), Friedman took the pulse of the aging American male -- and found him still in need of some good satire.

From an old (formerly) Lonely Guy.......2005-09-30
This is a simply wonderful book - and the Slightly Older Guy is too - wry, amusing and touching. I love the books of Bruce Jay Friedman (who must be an Older Guy by now) and am always telling people to read him. But, here's the catch, in the UK he's not published (or so I believe). How come? His books - going way back - are great and he is one of America's treasures. Perhaps someone can explain....

Book Description
This is a collection of stories, some autobiographical and some about other people. Many true life events, recounted just as they happened are often outrageous. But, with the reader in mind, the author has taken the liberty of changing some details and embellishing some scenes to spice them up some more. Thus, the title, True Tales, Slightly Skewed. The chapters take you from a teenager's inept hunting trip, to spoofs on fads, how not to do a luau, amorous temptations and miscues in love, outdoor adventures gone bad, experiences living in a trailer park, and the joys (not) of trying to regain one's life after heart surgery.
Book Description
Aurora Teagarden has never forgotten her first case: a serial killer who terrorized suburban Lawrencetown. Now that story is about to hit the small screen. Even if she wanted to, Aurora can't help getting involved. Her ex, Robin, wrote the TV movie's screenplay and her stepson, Barrett, has a starring role. Then there's Celia--the catty actress portraying Roe--who, by the way, also happens to be Robin's latest squeeze.
But when Celia is murdered and Barrett is accused, the real-life script takes a deadly turn. Between threatening letters, deranged fans and renewed feelings for Robin, Aurora has one goal: catch a killer and make it to the final scene alive.
Customer Reviews:
Last Scene Alive By Charlaine Harris.......2007-02-07
I liked this book. As a southerner Ms Harris is right on target! I feel as if I stepped back into my hometown amid the y'alls and we're fixin's. This is the only book in the Aurora Teagarden series that I have read and I enjoyed the story. I did not feel as if I had somehow stumbled into a series and storyline that I didn't understand (having not read the previous 6 books). The mystery was lively and I didn't have it solved until Ms Harris told me who did it on the last page. It was well worth my money and it has me coming back for more.
Fascinating story and lead character - highly recommended........2007-01-27
Diminutive librarian Aurora Teagarden learns that Robin Crusoe, a true crime writer, she worked with many years ago to solve a string of murders is returning to Lawrenceton, GA. He is coming to film a movie based on his book about the murders. Of course, when the crew arrives, additional murders are in the future.
This is a mystery; in reality they're a number of mysteries in the book. In terms of the protagonist's extended description of her emotions and social interactions, there might be a temptation to classify this as a cozy mystery, except for the tasteful and non-gratuitous descriptions of a number of sexual encounters.
The author has no dearth of characters. In the first chapter alone she identifies, by name, between one and two-dozen characters, and in the next two chapters she probably doubles that number. New named characters are added in subsequent chapters. This has the effect of making the story seem real. It also means that unless you have a very good memory, you will need to make some notes about the characters when they first appear, as there is no indication as to which will prove important later on.
Unusually for a mystery, here the protagonist's personality was as interesting as the main plot. Ms. Harris' has the unique ability to make you feel that Aurora is a real, rather than fictional, person and talking to you as a close friend. She presents Aurora so that she's easy to like, and wish you had her as a next-door neighbor.
Considering the high quality of the writing, there were some unexpected, albeit minor, editing flaws, e.g., "of" instead of "for", "a on a" instead of just "on a", "that" instead of "than", etc. These proved to be only minor reading distractions.
This is not a "thrill-a-minute" mystery with heart stopping action, although there is a fair amount of action. Rather it is an exceptionally well-written story with outstanding in-depth character development and a satisfying mystery.
This is a novel I can recommend without hesitation. It is one I found find hard to put down; fortunately, it can be easily read in one sitting.
last scene alive.......2006-12-01
I really like this series, so I hate to give it a mediocre review. I just found it boring, plain and simple. There was no suspense and no huge revalation. That being said, I would definitely recommend the other books in this series.
Last Scene Alive.......2004-02-23
This new series is to awful for words.
Depression over? Thank God!.......2003-08-06
It's was nice to read that Harris was back on track in this latest installment of the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries.
Roe is getting on with her life after her husband's death. Although she is not getting out much and is mostly concentrating on her job and home, things change when action comes to town. Robin returns when one of his books, based on Roe, has been turned into a movie and the entire production crew arrives to film. At first Roe is put off when all her friends find some place in the movie, either stunt work or leasing the church for filming, but gets over it when her once upon a time romance with Robin begins to heat up again. (Excuse me, but are those books your shelving or are you just happy to see me?)Of course it wouldn't be a mystery without a little murder. When the leading lady turns up dead, it's up to Roe to find out Who Dune It.

Customer Reviews:
Poor Dragonlance book........2007-07-20
Unpopular setting in the timeline, coupled with a writing style that seems to be emulating Weis & Hickman but failing, make this entire trilogy overall unremarkable. Only worth reading to keep up with the setting storyline.
Better than the first.......2007-01-23
Rabe gets her groove finally during this book. The first one was very clunky with very little character development. The characters become more fleshed out during this book and the plot twists are surprising. I wasn't holding out much hope after the first, but this was actually pretty good. Would have given 3.5 stars, but didn't have the option for it.
I hated it.......2004-10-06
I couldn't get past the first 150 pages of it. I just found myself lossing to much interest in the story to the point where I didn't care what happened to the characters or Krynn. You could skip this trilogy and completely understand what's going on on Krynn during the War of Souls. Rabes style of writing just isnt for me I guess. The first book of the series was good, but not really this one in my opinion.
If you have nothing better to read, then pick this up, other than that I dont think it's worth it.
Picking up steam.......2004-05-04
This book was far better than the first. A lot of important things are now happening in the dragonlance world and everything is going at a break neck pace. I was very pleased to see that the characters from the first book are being given a lot more depth. New characters are entering in from different sources. This pick has a style very simaler to the Chronicles trilogy. There is a LOT that goes on.
Day of The tempest.......2003-04-11
This book is likley to satasfy you even more than the one preceding it, The Dawning of a New Age, though not as good as the book following it ,The Eve of the Malestrom. I recomend this book highly and know any of the people reading this would enjoy every word.

Customer Reviews:
Dragon Tempest.......2000-03-31
I must admit I am not as well pleased by this title as I was with the first in the series. I really enjoyed the "Dragons Companion" first book, the second one "Dragons Rescue" was too thrilling, and the third one is diffinitely alot better then the second one. I am happy to say that the series appears to be looking up so far and I am very relieved to see that a fourth book is left open for writing at the ending of this one.

"The Chaos War is over. Magic has gone away... or has it?"
"It is the Age of Mortals, but also the Age of Dragons..."
