Book Description
Shonda Cheeke's hip and provocative follow-up to the critically acclaimed Another Man's Wife welcomes readers back into the world of Yani and Alex Chance and the ever popular Asia Fenton as they strive to stay strong in the face of tough choices, unexpected complications, and the sweet joys and bitter lows of love.
Asia Fenton is finally on the road to her happily ever after. Her new relationship with the handsome Detective Johnny Johnson is everything the good doctor ordered after a failed attempt to reconcile with her former fiancé, who had a pregnant girlfriend he forgot to tell her about. When the sounds of the wedding bells become overwhelming, her new neighbor and former fiancé step in to change the tempo of the dance.
Yani and Alex Chance have weathered one test of their love, but there's more in store. The second family of Yani's estranged husband, Jarrin, turns up in the New York city, in hopes of making family connection. Through her reluctance, Yani decides to make an effort for the children's sake. When tragedy strikes, Yani and Alex are faced with a heartfelt decision which causes a wedge to be drawn between them.
As Asia struggles with the inevitable choice she must make, and Yani and Alex work to straighten out the growing conflict threatening their happiness, the devastation of September 11th rocks New York City -- and strikes close to home in a way no one could have expected.
In the Midst of It All is a gripping, moving novel that invokes every emotion as Shonda Cheeke's compelling characters deal with the task of recovering, rebuilding, and moving into the future with hope and love.

Superb!.......2007-01-12
I think Shonda Cheekes is a superb author! I read "Another Man's Wife" first and loved it. I had to read the second part of the book. I would love to find out what happens next. Does she have an upcoming book on Alex and Yani? Asia finally got married; I was happy about that too.
Questions, Dilemna, Challenges..........2006-10-11
This was an excellent read. Superb writing skills and a story line which kept your interest. This is the sequel to "Another Man's Wife" which was outstanding also. I have recommended both books to my friends for a group therapy discussion. In life we never know what lies ahead however if we can continue to keep our heads up to the sky "In the Midst of it all" that itself is a blessing....Can't wait for her next book.
Better than the first!.......2006-07-10
The second part is way better than Another Man's wife. Even though it still left alot of stones unturned, I enjoyed it. You really don't need to read the first book to catch up with the second. I say save your money and just buy In the Midst of it all.
Life Isn't Fair; We Just Need to Thank God for Letting Us in the Game........2006-06-19
In the Midst of it All is the portrayal of two sisters whose lives seem perfect but with each passing moment they become more complicated. Asia Fenton has found a new relationship with Detective Johnny Johnson after her ex-fiancé broke her heart. However, the love she has for Johnny is overshadowed by her attraction to her new neighbor, Ray, and the chemistry she still has with her ex. Yani, Asia's sister, and her husband, Alex, have been through the storm and rain and seemed to have made it. However, Yani's ex-husband has come to dally in her marriage once again, but this time from the grave through his children from his second marriage. And In the Midst of it All, September 11th changes everything.
I read this book in one sitting. I was pleasantly surprised. With this novel being a sequel, I did not have the benefit of having read the first book. However reading it was not necessary. Ms. Cheekes does a very good job of giving a reader enough of the previous information to keep them up to date with what was currently going on. This book definitely stands by itself. I also liked the characters who were complex and real. Although as a reader one may be drawn to a character for personal reasons, I enjoyed that there were no evil villains or hapless innocent victims. These were grown men and women making choices that sometimes work and sometimes do not. And ladies and gentlemen that is life. The input on the September 11th tragedies add another dimension to the story especially with it being in recent history. In some ways it eclipsed that which came before in the story causing this reader to leave the plot and ponder on the events of that day. Nevertheless, Ms. Cheekes uses this tragic day in history to turn her story in some predictable ways and yet revealing some unpredictable circumstances. Ultimately reminding us that life is not always fair; we just need to thank God for letting us in the game.
I really enjoyed reading this novel and look forward to more.

Excellent follow-up!!!.......2006-06-10
I read the first book a while back but could not forget the love story between Yani and Alex. They share a love that many search for but never find. The sequel is just as heart-warming, gut wrenching and entertaining as the first. Through Alex and Yani you find that love is all that matters and the stuff in between builds up the love not tear it down. And with Asia, playing it safe just because the person is seen as a good catch means nothing to heart. The heart wants what the heart wants it is up to the owner of the heart to decide if it is worth it. I highly recommend the book for a good read. You will not put it down!

Book Description
Terror. Anger. Revenge. Murder. Dogged Meanness. Suspense. Love. Respect. Responsibility. Family. Joy. This book has all of these, plus much more. It has the attributes a young boy or girl look for in a book. It's a real page turner written from the viewpoint of Betty Jane, a sixth grade student. This book for young adults deals with how life was lived in the mid 20th century (1940's) before modern conveniences came to a small rural farm community in the South. The main focus of the story involves two 12 year old girls who are in the sixth grade in a small one-room schoolhouse. Their friend's father, Mr. T.J. Looney, is killed for no apparent reason. The two girls set about trying to find out why this happened. In the process, they stumble upon a deadly killer who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. This involves "punishing" these girls and their families for exposing him. While the main theme of the story is on the killer and his antics, the story also has many other situations which need to be resolved. These events range from being heart-rending to amusing. There are real life lessons to be learned in this story. There are decisions to be made which test the metal of the people in this hillbilly community. The book is entertaining and inspiring. There is no end of excitement and intrigue in this book. Plus, the book confronts many modern day challenges students face in today's world. Challenges on how to behave in an honest and forthright manner.

ANOTHER GREAT THRILLING READ.......2007-07-14
This series just keeps on raising the bar. The book starts in high gear and never lets up. The final third of the book is just plain UNPUTDOWNABLE!!! Davis just piles on the tension and always is giving us more details about Dragons, Merlin, King Arthur and Excalibur. He very realistically adds to their Myths and makes it seem like this has been part of the Myths for all times. He is very creditable as he leads us along this fantastic journey! Adults who love the lure of Myths should give this series a try. They won't be disappointed.
Excellent Service.......2007-01-17
It took about three days for me to receive the book that I ordered from Amazon. And not only did it come in a timely fashion but it was in excellent condition. No surprises here and that's what I like to see. I would definately come back in the future, especially for the prices.
Easily the best book I have ever read........2006-06-06
Now, don't think. Do not pass go. Put this book directly into your shopping cart. The series of Dragons in our Midst is by far the best series that I have read, including the Harry Potter books(can't stand them now that I've seen six truly great books, the four in this series and the two Inheiretance books) And this is the best book in the series, by a single scale. This is definitely worth reading again and again and again. THIS BOOK AND SERIES TOTALLY OWNS!!! BUY IT!!!
The best book so far in an awesome series!.......2006-05-08
The Dragons In Our Midst series is one of the best series of bookks that ther are, and Circles of Seven is the best book so far. Dragons In Our Midst makes Harry Potter seem extremly flimsy and shallow. (Which is actually fairly true in any instance. JKR was overpaid.) Anyway, THIS IS AN AWESOME BOOK!
BUY IT!
Great!.......2006-05-05
Carrying on the series smoothly, CIRCLES OF SEVEN answers questions from the previous books and still leaves enough suspence to have readers on the edge of their seat, waiting until they get the next book in the series. Never start reading these books if you have a busy day ahead, and most certainly do NOT start them in the late evening! You'll want to finish it all, even on pain of not enough sleep.
Very enjoyable, the series continues to be a very clean, Christian oriented fantasy series that even non-religious readers may be able to enjoy wholeheartedly.

That's what friends are for.......2007-07-29
IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL by Linda L. Taylor is the tale of four friends, their trials, tribulations and triumphs. Doretha Muncie, has a secret and is taciturn but has a deep understanding of human frailties. Joy, a divorced mother, is plain in looks and harbors guilty feelings about how she lost custody of her daughter. Leanne is the socialite with a nice husband but she can't seem to stop having affairs. Vanessa lives with an abusive man who frequently beats her and she knows she shouldn't be with him but can't seem to help herself or the mad love she feels for him. All four women struggle to resolve their issues while supporting each other. Their common meeting ground is Sunday morning in church.
Linda L. Taylor has written a humorous, yet painful novel about the lives of four very different women who are learning about themselves and each other as they attempt to straighten out the errors they've made. Their stories are told in flashback and it is a very effective way to bring out all the things that went into making the women who they are. It also shows why, even though they are all so different, they feel an affinity for each other. IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL is a real page turner.

Couldn't Put the Book Down.......2006-12-28
I am not much of a casual novel reader. Between duties as a full-time mom and full-time student, I can barely find the time. Today, however, I picked up this book and to my surprise, found the book to be a page turner. I read the entire book in a couple of hours. I fell in love with the characters and found their lives to be as real and revealing as if they were actual friends of mine. I actually found myself laughing out loud.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it. It was the first book I've read for pleasure in a long time and it inspired me start reading more fiction literature. I enjoyed all the characters especially Ms. Muncie, she was quite a character !! Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Great job Ms.Taylor- looking forward to In the Midst of it All part 2, or whatever else the Lord leads you to write.

Now this one I really like!.......2006-04-10
This book I really liked! I was so glad when I began to notice the Rue Morgue Vintage Mystery series because I have always liked the older mysteries best.
This story was first published in England in 1939 and fills the bill for a "nice" murder mystery. It has all the feel of the small English village. The characters are fully fleshed out and yet the author holds back secrets which are revealed over time and only when necessary. The detective is not flashy but very quiet and goes about his work of solving the crime in spite of the way his superior officers feel about him. Because of the time period in which the story takes place, the poor Inspector actually has to ride the local bus to some destinations. It seems that most policemen did not have access to automobiles. They did at least have telephones but the transportation factor must have been quite a handicap.
This was, for the most part, a slow moving, character driven mystery. I was not bored with it because it was always a given that something really had happened to Delia Cathcart. Anyone who solves this one before the reveal is certainly one up on me. I was surprised by the who and why!
Customer Reviews:
I'm still borrowing it from my father...........2001-05-22
My father bought this when I was a little girl new, and he read a few stories in it until i started taking an interest in it. He let me borrow it and i read most of the stories in it, read them again, read the rest of the stories, read all of them again, and again and again, well, lets just say it's been years now and i'm STILL reading it and i'm STILL borrowing it. I love all of it, especially the story by Joyce Carol Oates "Family" which introduced me to a whole new style and level of thinking that has been one of the greatest influences on my writing. I still cry sometimes when i read it. Even sometimes when i just think about it. Same with "The edge of the world". I've read a lot of books and loved them, still read them, like Enders Game by Orson Scott Card, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (the whole very inappropriately named trilogy of five books) by Douglas Adams (RIP), and a lot of Kurt Vonnegut Jr, Theodore Sturgeon, and even some by people in the book (Tanith Lee and Joyce Carol Oates) but none of these have been able to catch my heart and mind quite as much as this book. If you have the chance at all you should get this book. I give it my very highest reccomendation.

Customer Reviews:
useful though needs better writing.......2005-01-18
There are countless massage books, but there are few books written in English about using accupressure. This book has too much hyperbole, and I am skeptical of many of its claims. However, I have successfully used some of the accupressure points for relieving pain and migraine. I think the hand drawn diagrams are very useful. The book is heavily influenced by traditional Chinese medicine, but is partially Americanized and I find it far more useful than traditional Chinese textbooks.
In summary, this book could be improved, but it is very useful as it is.
Bad writing, Bad Diagrams, No Background Information.......2000-09-23
I agree with the second reviewer. The writing style is that of hukstar snake oil health food advertisement. It is also explains things poorly. The diagrams are labeled with handwritten notes making them hard to read. The diagrams don't match the descriptions. Hardly any background information is given to "why" you are doing one thing as opposed to another. The directions suck. You don't have an easy sense of knowing what you are doing
Lousy writing, poor diagrams, and lack of background.......2000-09-23
I agree with the second reviewer about the writing style. It reads like a huckster miracle food ad pamphlet. The diagrams are labeled with handwritten notes that are hard to read. The descriptions of the diagrams don't match the diagrams. You are never sure if you are doing things correctly. Next to no background is given why you are doing what you are doing.
Acupuncture without Needles.......2000-06-01
First - I'm not Gail, I'm her husband, Bill. I got my first issue of this book in 1981 and have not been without it since. To say that the information is dated is true, but Chinese medicine is thousands of years old and still widely used throughout the the world. The pressure points and ailments have not changed as humanity has evolved, therefore being "dated" does not truely apply to this book. Every time I use the ABC program I am amazed. I've mainly used it on my wife for lower back problems and a bi-polar disorder, but over the years we have used it for many ailments. It's even more astonishing that my fingers can accomplish what medical chemistry does - but without the side effect. However we still do as the book suggests - about always consulting your family doctor. This book is as much a part of my first aid kit or medicine cabinet as a bandaid or asprin. I have read and purchased several books on acupressure, many are very good but I always come back to this one as my standard. The copy I have now is worn and torn, time to buy a new one. Thanks Amazon for having it on your list.
Might have some good information, but very dated.......2000-04-28
The good thing about this book is the abundance of very detailed illustrations to help you locate the pressure points. But the style is very, very goofy and dated. The text is written in a breathless style that brings the word "huckster" to mind. It is full of all kinds of far-fetched claims about the wonders of "Acupressure USA!" and supposed case histories of stars that are too big to name, and at least one ridiculous profile of a successful lady ad exec who knocks out skeptical clients with her "huge breasts, long legs and peaches-and-cream complexion". There are also lots of exclamation marks! Then there's the illustration of acupressure techniques to increase your breast size -- ha, ha! Acupressure is a useful technique, but there's too much hype in this book to take it seriously.

This book is also great for Martial Artists.......2000-08-12
Ohashi's work clarifies the placement, use, and properties of meridian lines and pressure points. It is also very easy to read and follow, yet very thourough in its coverage of detail. A must for any martial artist looking to expand their knowledge or those interested in mastering Shiatsu. Also a favorite of Mr. George Dillman - How about that for a sponsor!
