When ferret Swartt Sixclaw and his arch enemy Sunflash the Mace swear a pledge of death upon each other, a young creature is cruelly banished from the safety of Redwall. As he grows, he seeks revenge on the people of Redwall and finds himself embroiled in a hostile battle with far-reaching consequences.
An epic tale of Redwall from the pen of master storyteller Brian Jacques, Outcast of Redwall is a kaleidoscope of color, range, and emotions that culminates in a bitter contest between good and evil. None of the passion of the earlier Redwall titles is lost, as some of the most cherished landscapes and best-loved characters from previous books are revisited, with a wisdom and clarity that has developed and endured.
On a basic level, this is a marvelous fantasy adventure story. Look deeper and you will find that Outcast of Redwall, along with the other titles in the series, has a divine, enduring quality that ranks it among he best in children's literature. --Susan Harrison
Book Description

Despite concerns from everyone at Redwall, Bryony is convinced that Veil's goodness will prevail. But when he commits a crime that is unforgivable, he is banished from the abbey forever. Then Swartt and his hordes of searats and vermin attack Redwall, and Veil has to decide: Should he join Swartt in battle against the only creature who has ever loved him? Or should he turn his back on his true father?
Customer Reviews:
Veil was not bad. He was just angry........2007-09-30
The "Outcast" is "Taggerung". If you've read "Taggerung", but not this book, you will get a good grip on what you're expecting. If not, here are the basic guidelines that I will break down in the story:
-Good/Bad species raised in a different environment (AKA, otter in a vermin camp)
-Somehow, God/Bad specie keeps their `generics' intact (AKA, otter remains static throughout, as in `forever good')
-A perfect goodbeast will always be there to tip the scales (AKA, the chosen Redwall Warrior)
-A bad guy dead in a single blow (AKA, well...that's mostly every book you can relate that too)
The `Outcast of Redwall' tells the story of Veil, a ferret abandoned after a large battle where his father, Swartt Sixclaw, had to flee with his horde. From the get-go, Swartt did not offer to care for Veil and left him in the care of a rat maid, not even giving his son a name. It is the precious creatures of Redwall who seize him and give him the name Veil. Of course, if you've read "Taggerung" somehow, this ferret creature remains forever evil, is kicked out, and while the ending seems as though he slightly turned the tables for good, he's still depicted as evil, even by his foster mother Bryony, the very mousemaid he had saved!
Yes, the book is dedicated mostly to Sunflash the Mace, who is probably the most ridiculously perfect character created (next to Triss). `pparantly, he gets bit by three very poisonous snakes, and miraculously survives because his ghost father and grandfather want him alive to get to the mountain. Puleeze...
Well, back to Veil. While Deyna in `Taggerung' seems to get more `character development', Veil is barely given a few roles himself for us to see what kind of character he's supposed to be. He's spoiled, greedy, a thief, and I blame that on Bryony. From the get go, she was too meek, too soft, too forgiving, to ever think about putting Veil in his place. If she had more backbone, then so would Veil. It makes me wonder why no Redwaller even bothered to teach Veil the same lessons like they supplied for the other dibbuns. I guess they were too busy getting away from him and calling him `vermin' behind his back to put a paw on him. Guess the ferret might give them germs.
This book should have been one of the best Redwall books ever written, but when the writer seems to be just as prejudged as the Redwallers, there is little hope for Veil. And it's sad. Even with him risking his life to save his adopted mother, he is still treated as scum. I can see why he wanted to attempt murder at Redwall. If I was treated like that, and I had no proper upbringing, or no way to put my anger towards, then I can see why Veil did what he did. I didn't think it was intentional for the writer to think that way, but there are a lot of things in this book that should've taken a new direction, but failed. And that's why "Outcast" turned out the way it did, a poorly-written book that slammed its good-concept into the dirt.
Cool, but sad........2007-09-29
This book is awesome. I'll totally give it that. The only thing I didn't like about it is it's so sad. There were just so many parts that made me feel dissapointed, betrayed, and just sad. There is an amazing battle near the end, which is great. So, all in all, this is a great book.
Don't forget to read Outcast of Rrewall.......2007-04-13
Outcast of Redwall by: Brian Jacques is a thrilling adventurous fantasy but I would not recommend this book to kids who don't like to read. The story opens in the base camp of Sixclaw a evil weasel, where he was holding Sunflash hostage. At the same time when Sunflash was being held to a tree, a bird came down from the sky and saved Sunflash and they ran away together in to the woods. But little does Sunflash and the bird know is that Sixclaw was chasing them with all of his beasts so that they can kill Sunflash. Sunflash saves and meets a creatures on the way when Sixclaw sees Sunflash at a big battle he runs away so Sunflash has to chase him. When they see each other they battle for a long time but who kills who?
Sunflash the mace is a character driven to kill evil creatures. During the first chapter Sunflash is very weak mentally and physically who was a slave for the evil weasel Sixclaw. After he escapes he became strong and brave again. This creature gets captured a lot but always escapes and usually kills the animals that captured him. Sunflash never gets really tired unless he was just in a big battle. One of the settings was Salamandrostron it was a big city where badgers rule. Also Sunflash was going to be the next king. He got in trouble by the present king by going into a place where no one was supposed to go.
In conclusion The Outcast of Redwall is a book you should read because it is thrilling and it will make you want to read until you're finished.
Great series.......2006-10-18
Great series for young and old looking for a mental shut-down for bed book.
Pretty Good........2006-09-08
This is better than all the others but in the first book in it but, it doesn't tell at all about the outcast at all who is that mean creature who works with that weird animal that acted like she knew that death had been in the camp.
But this is highly recomended for ages 7-10 and is pretty good.
the first book Redwall is not even close to this!

Book Description
'Superior crime fiction: vivid, original, edgy and constantly surprising.' -Kirkus Reviews (starred review) on I Love My Smith Wesson Mark is a mild-mannered twenty-three year-old bookseller who makes endless lists about stupid things. His life changes when he re-establishes contact with an old girlfriend called Caro. At seven--teen, Caro was an implausibly sexy, promiscuous, druggy big-mouth. Six years later, she's exactly the same and Mark falls in love with her all over again. Caro, who has nothing but con-tempt for Mark's lists and his choir-boy attitude, asks him to prove his love by giving him a list of her own: a list of people she wants him to kill for her. As things begin to spiral out of control and the bodies pile up, Mark himself becomes a target and realizes that to survive, he needs to be as ruthless and decisive as his enemy.

yeah it waz a pretty good book....kina crazy...u swhould buy it!!!
How to be REALLY BAD.......2005-10-19
A very sick fellow is Rawhead but in his own way he has a conscience and follows a code of ethics. Unfortunately, this code does not preclude excessive loss of life for those around him and it is the unfortunate soul who ends up being a "friend". Once you are a friend of Rawhead's, your life (and the lives of those around you) will never be the same. Very funny, slightly two dimensional characters, but quite entertaining and, I suspect, captures the criminal mindset extremely well.
How to be bizarre .......2005-08-18
I have mixed emotions about this book. I think that the idea for the plot was fairly original and the writing was brisk enough to make me want to keep reading despite the bizarre and dark content overtones.
The story is about a man (Mark) who reunites with his crazy ex girlfriend (Caro). Caro is supposedly very beautiful and it is this beauty that makes men do crazy things for her. Mark is a relatively normal guy who keeps finding himself mixed up in a web of violence due to his relationship with her. It turns out that when Mark and Caro first parted ways, he was devasted to the point where he did not know how to really be a man let alone how to be a "bad" man -- to put it mildly: Mark was a wimp. Over the course of the novel, Mark gets beat up, humiliated, married, chased by the law, and stalked by a psychotic lovestruck killer. It's a lot to handle for your average 23 year old. Caro asks Mark to kill people for her because they have wronged her in some way. He realizes that the idea is crazy but somehow the bodies end up dead. I won't spoil the story by telling you how. Suffice it to say that if you are into dark Brit Lit, this may be right up your alley. I would like to point out that the author works Nick Hornby's name into his story at least 20+ times and this is sort of like a much darker version of High Fidelity. I have no inclination to read anyting else by this author in the future and this book wasn't a total waste of my time, it just wasn't my style. Worth taking out of the library. Then ending may surprise you.
wild thriller .......2005-06-08
In Richmond on the Thames, twenty-something Mark Madden owns a bookstore that sells rare books. After the "Son of God" destroys a "dirty" book, he gets into an incident in the nearby park resulting in a wacko punching him in the forehead. The EMTs take him to the hospital where the cops react the same way as they did with the burned book insisting he is lucky to still breathe. At the hospital Caro Sewell sits down next to Mark; she was his girlfriend for six months when he was eighteen until she dumped him to blow a teacher.
Caro admits she owes him eighteen months as every two years she reinvents herself and drops her boyfriend. To his shame the mousy Mark still wants her and loves her. Caro teases him about his anal lists that he draws up on nonsensical subjects, but also offers him a test of his love for her. She draws up a list: 1) father; 2) Warren; and 3) Jesus. If he kills the trio she will give him the year and half he did not have with her that she owes him. Although he fears prison he is obsessed with Caro, will Mark go mad with or without her?
This is a wild thriller that stars a strange lead couple. Readers will keep on going in one sitting to learn whether Mad Mark Madden will choose love and death or the collective safe route. Fans will believe his choice and his follow-up as David Bowker leaves his audience pondering how bad someone can become if the price is right.

Book Description
A new delivery by the world famous creator of best-selling cartoon "Mafalda". Once again, Quinos drawings bring a smile with an aftertaste of subtle criticism.
Customer Reviews:
NO WORDS NEEDED WITH QUINO.......2000-07-13
As a true classic of social black humor cartooning, Quino (maker of famous MAFALDA) brings us more of his point of view of how people behave with each other in a morbid/crude/funny way, using hardly any words at all in his drawings, which then can be understood globally by many without any translation. Pick any of this Argentine's writer/cartoonist books, except for the Mafalda ones, and you will love them!
Quino at its ironic best!.......1997-12-09
Quino has done it again! His insights on human nature are wonderful. In the USA this book would be considered totally politically incorrect, since Quino does not shy away from presenting perverse grandparents, insensitive parents, and sensually confused youngsters. Certainly not just one more book of cartoons to fill your shelves: this work will make you think and perhaps even change your views about the qualities that make us human! (In Spanish.)

The word "diet" means more than eating less. It's cutting down on some factors (fat, usually), and getting enough of others. If you're serious about eating healthfully and losing weight, you need more than a list of calories: you need a reliable source of comprehensive dietary information. That's where Nutrition Facts comes in. Within its pages are more than 40,000 entries that list everything from abalone to zucchini--raw foods, fast foods, and brand names included. For each item Art Ulene presents calories, protein, carbohydrates, sodium, fiber, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, percent of calories from fat, plus vitamins and minerals. He takes the guesswork out of healthful eating, and provides the wherewithal for you to follow through on your laudable intents.
Customer Reviews:
Best Self-Help Book Ever!.......2007-03-08
For anyone trying to track calories, carbs, salt intake or any dietary issue, this is the MUST HAVE book! My husband suffers from elevated blood pressure (prehypertension), and we are successfully using this book to reduce it! We find it makes shopping for low-sodium products much easier than standing in grocery aisles reading every can, carton, package for its sodium content. This book has so much information on the foods we eat (and brands), that one won't need any other guide! Great book.
DESK Reference.......2005-08-06
This book really means it when it says Desk Reference. Too big to carry around. It is very complete and filled with name brands I never heard of. Gives you all the information one should ever require.
Bad data and misprints galore.......2003-03-22
Part 3 of this book on Fast Food Chain Restaurant Values is completely messed up in the area of Fat and Saturated Fat.
The gram numbers for saturated fat are several times higher than the grams of total fat. This is impossible. Nor is the data from one column merely switched with the data from the other column. There is no pattern to the errors. This section of the book is useless.
The front of the book contains a disclaimer as to the accuracy of any entires in the book. They got that right!
Personally I cannnot rely on the data in the other sections when the data in one section is so inaccurate. My health is too important.
Best Nutrition Reference Book on the Market.......2002-07-20
My trainer loaned me this book. He said he purchased it years ago and still considers it the very best nutrition book on the market. After using his copy, I ordered my own. Although at first the layout of the book may look intimidating, it isn't! It is actually so logical and simply layed out, it makes looking up anything a breeze. The typeface is perfect. I needed to keep food charts, so I had to find out calories and fat content of everything I ate. I hated the idea of doing this, but with this book it was quick and easy. It also includes all nutrition information you need for "junk food" like McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, etc. It will tell you calories, fat, sodium, cholestorol and more. The foods are listed on the left, the nutritional headings are listed across the top. So you look up shrimp and slide your finger to the right and go to the heading you need to have information about. The portion sizes are written in such a way, that they are perfectly clear. There is no chance for misunderstanding. I liked this feature a lot because the information was so concrete. Baked, fried, sauteed...it doesn't matter. He thought of everything. I have always been able to find exactly what I needed no matter how obscure I thought it was going to be. It's definitely in there. Buy this book. It is the most flawless reference book on nutrition I have ever used. It is designed for use by real people living in the real world.
This book helps me plan healthy meals.......2002-07-13
I have recently embarked on improving my eating habits. I am finding this book to be a tremendous support. With it on my kitchen counter I find myself reaching for it several times a day to check calories or potasium levels of foods or to search through by column to find good sources of magnesium or other minerals or vitamins.
I am giving this book to a couple of friends who are also trying to improve their eating habits.
Thank you Dr. Ulene and your team for pulling this helpful information together in one spot!
