Discovered Box few months ago. I've never read an author who keeps the story moving along consistently with an exciting and absorbing pace Box creates a character with faults, feelings, and frailties. .

Out of Range.......2006-08-30

C J Box has scored again! Delightfully evil villains. Joe Pickett and his wife Mary Beth are well-developed protagonists. Fans who have read the previous books learn more about the couple's human failings, which make them even more sympathetic and admirable. Joe goes to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, as a replacement for a friend/co-worker who mysteriously committed suicide. It's immediately apparent that he's an anomaly among the rich, the arrogant and the avaricious. As usual Joe's reputation arrives before he does. The twists and turns again make this a book that will cost the reader a half night's sleep. At least, I was unable to put it down once I got past chapter 3.

A Top Notch Adventure.......2006-08-30

This should be five stars, not one. This is my first C.J. Box book and it certainly won't be my last. It was great to read about a hero who had a normal family life and makes a mistake now and then. Other reviews have given the plot line, so I don't think it's necessary for me to do so. However, I would like to say that the author has created believable characters and situations and kept up the suspense all the way through the novel. I liked reading about a wilderness area that I knew nothing about. Great job!

A page-turner!.......2006-08-28

This is a well-written page-turner, getting you "inside the head" of game warden Joe Pickett.

A few minor bloopers: Teton County, Wyoming, is ranked #30, not #1, in US county per capita income. Most life insurance policies restrict payments for suicide -- but just for the first two years of the policy. Projectors are often used for PowerPoint presentations, but the projectors aren't called "PowerPoint projectors," and the remote control would control the computer, not the projector. Most remote controls used for PowerPoint presentations don't need to be "pointed." It's unlikely a medical examiner would store a loaded gun with evidence, or that an experienced game warden would pick up a gun without checking whether it was loaded.

Required Reading.......2007-09-28

I actually got a chance to read the manuscript. Typical Tushnet. I.e., smart, incisive, scrupulously fair. If you want to cut through the overheated rhetoric you're going to hear in the next few months -- assuming the Court grants DC's cert petition in the gun control case -- you should read this book. Actually, you should read if you're at all interested in the gun control debate.

This is not the storyteller's handbook revised!.......2002-09-14

contrary to what it may seem, this book is not a revised edition of the last (paperback) storyteller's handbook. it is an all new book containing lots of all new information, including frequently asked question section. While the book isn't the easiest read, it contains a great deal of valuable information, including some plot springboard ideas. Weather your a veteran storteller or a newbie, i would highly reccomend this book as an addition to your storytelling refrence library.

effective and easy to use.......2006-09-12

I have been using this book for a few years and really enjoy it. The first section explains the techniques and ideas, and the second section has illustrated step-by step instructions which are easy to follow. I use it mostly for menstrual cramps, because in 10 minutes you can have no cramps and be totally blissed out which is better than waiting around for a pill to work. Last week I used the head massage on a friend with a really bad cold and her congestion went away. It's really effective and works faster than medication. I'm really glad I have it and now when there is something painful I look in the book before I look in my medicine cabinet. But you really need a partner to help you out because there's no way you would be able to effectively reach all the necessary pressure points on your own.

I read this book shortly after my wife delivered a set of twins, both of which weighed over 7pounds. My wife understandably suffered from strained back and shoulder muscles. I bought the book thinking that it might save me a chiropractor bill. What a wonderful surprise. Not only did it save me a doctors bill, it worked like majic on my wife's back and shoulders. That was 5 years ago and many books and many hours of massage have passed since then. I have worked on family and friends ever since. Even met people who have heard of me through acquantances and the results are still unbelievable. Although I have not been able to completely and totally cure everyone, there have been very few that I could not help to some degree. It's a wonderful feeling to be able to help people through such a wonderful medium.
