GREAT.......2007-08-08
This is truly a good black book. There are so many different styles from so many artists. The book has english AND german (they both say the same thing) because StyleLife is Germany based. There's not too much text only an intro and an interview in the middle. A few of the drawings are a little wack but overall the book is GREAT. I recommend this book for anybody starting out graffiti or exploring new styles of graffiti.

What more could an avid graffiti writer look for in a book? This has everything! For a person who is always looking for new techniques, this is the graffiti writers bible. I couldnt ask for anything more, (except Blackbook Sessions #2.)

This book is great for those writers trapped in suburbia, who are the only ones in their area that writes and need some inspiration in their work. Its all blackbook sketches, mostly from european writers, and when i started writing it definately opened my mind as to the capabilities of style, and color schemes, that can be done without paint. Some of the sh*t in there is crazy. I still dont know how that can be done with markers. Some of the tags are really weak though, that crazy euro-style, but 90% of the book is dope. Check it out

The important role women play in the process of migration to the Western bloc -- and in particular to Southern Europe where they often find jobs in the domestic service, tourist or sex industries -- has been increasingly recognized. This timely book provides essential new insights into the forms of migration and the impact of gender relations on the migration and accommodation process, and also raises general conceptual issues about ways of understanding migration in a global context. At a time when all the member states of the European Union have called for a reduction in immigration in response to its steady growth, the urgency of the topic is apparent. Contributors examine the possible legal, social and economic problems that increased immigration may produce, including: female migration and its relation to changing gender relations in the country of migration; different forms of exclusion faced by male and female migrants; working conditions and status; migrant networks; and women's role in reproducing and maintaining ethnic culture.

Book Description
Breaking new ground in Mediterreanean anthropology, this book rejects the discipline's traditional focus on honour and shame in small face-to-face communities, and suggests instead that gender and sexuality interact with material processes in the constitution of personal and social identities.
In this ethnographic account of the labour market in Naples, the author shows how cultural definitions of gender can be used to investigate broad social processes. Scarce stable employment in the area means that household members are forced to diversify their economic activities in order to survive. Petty entrepreneurship is an option which is almost exclusively available to men. Women, who are either unable or unwilling to obtain factory work, are generally confined to the status of outworkers. The author emphasises that individual choices cannot be attributed solely to economic opportunities but that concepts of selfhood, gender identity and the symbolic value of female sexuality are also important.

In another series of strips, Jason's latest money-making scheme involves creating an animated film to rival the box office blockbusters of Pixar and Dreamworks: "It's the tender story of a leech's search for his missing son. I'm calling it Finding Hemo.
The success of FoxTrot has yielded consequences creator Bill Amend may never have imagined. The strip has been used as a question on the game show Jeopardy! and as an answer in the New York Times crossword. It's a fitting irony that FoxTrot has become a fixture of pop culture, the very phenomenon it parodies with such keen wit.

A Cup of Coffee with Foxtrot, that's the Way to Start Your Day.......2007-02-17
I have been a faithful FoxTrot reader for years. Roger, Andy and their kids Peter, Paige and Jason are always good for a reality check with a large dose of laughter. I've got two girls and let me tell you, I see a lot of my kids in Paige with, I believe, even a healthy dose of Jason thrown in. And they have Peter's bottomless stomach. Of course, they're faithful FoxTrot readers too. I used to read the strip to them, explain what was going on, but now they get it just fine and we three all laugh together. Then my girls try and explain the strip to their dad, who pretends he doesn't get it.
The FoxTrot folks are a great family, one we sort of got used to checking up on every day, so we took the news that Mr. Amend was going to cease daily distribution of his wonderfully funny people and turn his strip to Sunday only, with a bit of sadness. Still, we have these terrific FoxTrot books to keep us going with our FoxTrot fix. Mr. Amend is to be commended for his great gift to our culture and his great gift to so many lives. I truly believe a laugh a day, helps keep the blues away and the FoxTrot gang are always good for a laugh. Heck there are a lot of laughs in the FoxTrot books. I know, I have them all and I am, along with my girls and my hubby dear, eagerly awaiting the next one.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we don't have an iguana, but my girls do have a pet gecko and, you guessed it, his name is Quincy.

I've been a Foxtrot reader for a long time and personally I think there is something suspiciously wrong with people who don't find Bill Amend's characters funny as all get out. If you want a good laugh, check out Bill in your local newspaper, or better yet, get one of the Foxtrot books. They are all great, really, they are.
Like many of Mr. Amend's fans I'm a bit disappointed that he's switching his strip to Sunday-only, but fortunately I can still read him daily in the Foxtrot books. Get them one and all and you can keep right on a laughing.

We loved it! Our favorite comic and our favorite movie all combined in one book. Ths Fox family will be missed now that Bill Amend has retired but this book keeps us laughing.

Bill Amend is a people-watcher. You can tell this by how his FoxTrot characters mimic real life situations and issues. Unfortunately, he seems to be spending too much time spying on me! At least that is my perception when I see the goings-on of the Fox family!
Orlando Bloom Has Ruined Everything : A FoxTrot Collection, is a funny and timely addition to this long-running cartoon series. As the title suggests, it covers a period of time that the country was wild over Lord of the Rings. But don't dispair... there are still plenty of strips on Thanksgiving dinner, football in the snow, Quincy, dating, snow people, math, allowances, chess, electronic games, tofu, and homework. And if you know what I am talking about, then this is not your first FoxTrot book!
I only wish there was a bit more content in these books! You go through them too quickly! Four stars instead of 5 for this reason.

Erma Bombeck is the best. Family life is challenging, but Erma gives it to you straight...there's comedy in everything. Each of her books shares stories with the others, but from different points of view. If you're up for a good laugh, read this book!

I grew up reading Erma Bombeck. I have always loved her columns and her books. My parents and I would sit around the dinner table and discuss her columns ~~ but now as a mother and a wife, I have a much better appreciation of Erma's writing.
This one is about her kids coming home in 1987 and one of them announced that he's moving back in permanently ~~ and it's a rundown of all the things that family members do. Sometimes, it's funny and sometimes, it's annoying. But what are you going to do? Throw them out on the streets? Erma had me laughing all night while laying in the hospital bed with a sick preschooler. She's been there and I am going through it. It's a honest, refreshing look at parenting and marriage ~~ everyone should read Erma. She gets her points across with humor and statire.
I am reading three others of her books ~~ and can't wait to read them. She's the perfect medicine for this housewife!

One of the funniest humor columnists of all time, Erma Bombeck has scored again with this funny snapshot of family life.
It's 1987, and all three Bombeck children have come home for a visit (one of whom has decided to make his visit permanent). Not only does Erma provide us with a timeline of the events of this particular weekend, she also delves back into her memories of the years gone by as she routinely attempts to defend her parenting skills (or lack of them) to us.
It's been several years since Erma Bombeck passed away. But her books continue to be as funny and relevent today as they were back then. "Family - The Ties That Bind and Gag" is no different.
